Fi I'm sorry you're feeling low. It's very hard. The only thing getting me through is the support of DH and my mum now coming over to help once a week, so in total I now only have 2 days a week completely on my own with ds. It's the sleep deprivation that's killing me and if you are not getting decent sleep either and have limited support, it's no wonder it affects you. Do make sure you talk about how you feel. Everyonr keeps telling me to focus on the fact that it will get easier, but that is hard to take comfort from sometimes when you're in the middle of it, isn't it? Hang on in there Flowers

Glad your mum is doing well littlegreycat.

I'm still only getting 1.5-2 hour stretches of sleep here and I can't seem to persuade ds to go down much earlier than midnight. I'm so jealous of all of you having long stretches! It is so frustrating and knackering Sad

kismac · 10/06/2015 12:18

Im basically popping her on the boob at about 8pm and feeding her until she falls off which is normally about 10pm which then results in 5-6 hours sleep. Not sure if this is proper way to get her to sleep but she does feed. Might be causing problems later on but it's working. Does make my evenings very dull though.

FiRaffe · 10/06/2015 16:54

I do the same kismac. No idea if it's wrong either but he tends to only settle to sleep by eating anyway.

I wish DS would go back to daytime naps anywhere other than on me! Tried to have a nap twice after he'd gone down sleepy and within 10 mins he was whinging and then crying. I need sleep!!!

Hidingthefear · 10/06/2015 18:24

ah firaffe and jetpack i'm with you on the no sleep front! If one more person tells me i should be napping in the day i'll punch 'em! Do they not think i try that, but same as you Firaffe, I put DS down and as i'm starting to relax he wakes up.
I've had a couple of 4 hour stretches at night but usually only the first one from 12-4 and then he likes to be awake every hour.
I've just drove home in the car crying my eyes out because ds was in the back screaming the whole way home and there was nothing i could do to fix it :'( the relentless crying really wares me out!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/06/2015 21:18

Sorry to hear that LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar and jetpackplease, ds2 was a terrible sleeper so I feel your pain!!

I don't get a choice kismac, that's just what he wants at that time and is on and off with a few brief moments of sleep or whinging in between before conking out totally at 10-11. I found with my other two they would settle at something that I was happy as their bedtime from 12-14 weeks.

Sorry to hear that HidingTheFear, I think it's pretty normal. Crying is meant to be tough for us to ignore and very unpleasant so we do something about it! Sam also cries in the car almost all the time and I hate it, feel like covering my ears and singing lalalalala until we can stop and I can pick him up!

FiRaffe · 11/06/2015 05:43

Just been up for getting on for 2 hours with a little man full of bubbles. I hope he has just settled but it took half an hour walking around the house.
Now my boobs hurt too because of the Reynaud's! To think he'd been asleep for 7 hours for the first time.....

Hope you're all having an okay night!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2015 07:25

Bless you! Hope you got some more sleep. I did my first morning run since before I had Sam and he decided not to sleep until 11.15 and then was up at 4.15 and I got up to go at 5.30! He's still asleep now so going to jump in the shower before mindees arrive but only me and my littlest two from 9-3 today which will be lovely in the sunshine. Just got to get jabs done first Sad

PenguinPoser · 11/06/2015 08:35

Wow that's dedication cinnamon! Early morning for you. Enjoy the sunshine today.
FiRaffe hope you got some more sleep!
Must say I'm very sleepy this morning. The night wasn't bad but been awake with dd on and off since 5ish so want to go back to sleep! DD is currently falling asleep on my boob so might get a nap if I'm very lucky!

Wineandchoccy · 11/06/2015 09:34

What a gorgeous day and I am going to be stuck inside for most of it Sad
Dd has to weighed, have her 2 month check and jabs then it is our antenatal class reunion at the childrens centre.

We had a good night she slept from 10.30 - 3.30 settled about 4.30 and just woke up now.

firaffe and penguin hope you can get both get some rest later.

cinnamon I hope Sams jabs go ok.

FiRaffe · 11/06/2015 11:03

I had a bit of extra sleep after his 8am feed then we played with his insect wrist bands and socks... now cuddles after more food!

I think we're having the after effects of the jabs still. He is being really grumbly and fussy eating. Hopefully it'll pass, but any idea if there are any symptoms I should be worrying about other than a temperature?

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2015 11:24

It's only 45mins earlier than I get up normally on a week day PenguinPoser and I feel better for it but not sure I will by this evening!

Did he have the rotavirus FiRaffe? She said distended tummy or blood in the nappy from that one. I didn't have any problems with my big boys when they had jabs so can't really help.

Was a nurse off sick today so we quite a wait, he woke up and wanted feeding so I just stopped a min for the rotavirus one and she jabbed each one and I popped him back on so minimal crying from him. Been awake chatting since and now having more milk.

TinyTear · 11/06/2015 11:59

Yesterday the toddler had a bad dream, weed on me while being cuddled and A slept all through changing bedding, etc all by her cot!

FiRaffe · 11/06/2015 17:23

Good work Tiny Tear, it's funny what they sleep through.

Yep he did cinnamon. He's been better today so hopefully all going through his system. Hope your lo is on too.

We had a lovely picnic this afternoon with the ladies from baby massage. I'm glad about the breeze though, otherwise it would have been too hot.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2015 03:53

So far so good FiRaffe, he felt earn just before bed but has slept 9.45 until now and feels normal again now.

I was so tired yesterday and fell asleep on the sofa around 10, woke up at 11 and dh put the dogs out and no idea how but he obviously went to bed and I woke up again at 12.30 on my own in the living room is with Sam still on my chest with a very sore neck. When I got upstairs dh was snoring very loudly and had no idea I hadn't come up, two very tired people I reckon! Hurray for the weekend Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2015 03:56

Obviously felt warm not earn!

FiRaffe · 12/06/2015 04:02

I think the cumulative affect definitely has started, although we seem to have had a few longer stretches. 7 hours last night and 5 tonight to the first feed. Fingers crossed we get the same for the next stretch!

PenguinPoser · 12/06/2015 05:06

Fingers crossed for you FiRaffe. I'm hoping the same as although she has a long first stretch I can't usually successfully get her back down for another stretch without her waking after 20mins with wind. Need to burp her properly. I can hear her little tummy gurgling away as she's feeding. We keep ending up with a tired baby in the mornings as she hasn't quite slept enough so fingers crossed.

Cinnamon I fell asleep on the sofa too last night. First time in ages I cuddled up to DH for a hug lying on sofa catching up on TBBT and I'll have to watch it again today as next thing I knew it was 10.30pm and I thought ahhh no need to get to bed! Tonight I might actually go to sleep when DD does as there's no use her sleeping longer if I don't! Although it does seem a bit sad to go to bed at 9 when it's still sunny outside.

Hope your little ones are recovering well from jabs. We have second ones next week can't believe it's come round already.

Not sure what to do today. It's meant to be be sunny again so maybe a walk and chill in the house/garden. Shame it's not going to last for the weekend.

kismac · 12/06/2015 11:08

Hope everyone's little ones are doing ok after their jags.

We had a lovely walk in the park on Wednesday and yesterday so having a day close to home today. At BBQ tomorrow, cue lots of annoying drunk people. Planning on only going for couple of hours as don't think it'll be much fun watching my friends play drinking games.

Just had 6 week check and she's only put 7oz on in 2 weeks and dropped from 50th to 25th percentile. Health visitor wants me to take her to get weighed every 2 weeks which is annoying as we've been left alone up until now. She's always feeding so maybe she'll just be a wee bit skinny.

Also bad mammie alert. Just dropped my phone on her head and woke her up. Oops!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2015 14:35

I'd happily go to bed at 9 is Sam would PenguinPoser! It's worth it to feel a bit more human. If he was my first id be so lucky, he sleeps 12 hrs with one feed but it's a shame it's 10-10 most of the time and I have to get up much earlier than him! All seems good with jabs so far thanks.

I replied on fb kismac, try not to worry!

I agree about accumulative effect FiRaffe!

Mammoth trip to hospital today, they did all observations as well as blood and I had to catch wee (quite unsuccessfully most went on my trousers!) in a little pot! He has pseudohypoaldosteronism which is why sodium is low and hopefully a few months of supplements should balance things out.

FiRaffe · 12/06/2015 19:47

Wow that's a long name cinnamon! Glad they can get it sorted for him.

Have had a pretty good day but equally I have found his bouncy chair is really good at making him poo. He's had 2 massive ones today and he is always so much happier!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2015 20:00

Good news on the pops resulting in happier baby FiRaffe! Dh's reply to my text with the name in it was 'f£@& off, you're making that up Wink' Shock if you google just pseudohypo the rest pops up automatically so must be vaguely common.

PenguinPoser · 12/06/2015 21:17

Pleased they seem to be getting to the bottom of things cinnamon and getting treatment on board. It does sound like you've got a good sleeper! Will you get a chance for a lie in at the weekend?

Ooh the bouncy chair is working its magic FiRaffe - sounds good!

Try not to worry kismac - apparently at 6/8 weeks babies find their centile that they are meant to be on rather than born on so it might just be that you have a 25th centile baby which is fine. Fingers crossed for the next weigh in!

I've had a reasonable day been to town for some bits and bobs and a walk this evening. We were thinking of getting takeaway but to save some money got supermarket pizza and potato skins for about a third of the price Smile not good for my calorie counting but hey it's Friday Grin

Wineandchoccy · 12/06/2015 22:26

Dd had her jabs yesterday and apart from pooing more has been fine. She has fed lots today but it has been really warm and still is the bedroom is really hot.
I hope the extra feeds will help her put on weight because she has only put on 9oz in 2 weeks so they want to see her weekly. The HV made me feel a bit rubbish to be honest like I am starving her but she is bf on demand sleeps well and is alert in the daytime anyway rant over I know they are only doing there job but they make me feel like a bad Mum Sad kismac I hope you and your dd are ok and like my dd maybe she is on the petite side.

cinnamon I hope Sam is ok now you have a diagnosis. You would get lots of points playing scrabble with that word Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 13/06/2015 03:20

There are two options as it is always secondary yeti something else apparently. The first is that it's caused by his reduced renal function in the first few weeks and will come back up in a few months by itself. If that doesn't happen (which she thinks is almost certain) they will do another test for a genetic condition, which is the other cause, and he'll be on medication the rest of his life and she will need to test the other boys too Shock. Seems most likely it's due to his kidney function but I guess you never know! He hates the sodium supplement but that's better in the short term than life long drugs.

9oz in two weeks doesn't sound too bad to me wineandchoccy. Sam has gained 7oz this week but he's getting quite a big boy now, went from 12lb7 to 12lb 14. Got him weighed just because I was there asking about the sling but hospital insisted on doing it again yesterday and he'd gained 20g which I don't think is even an oz (from memory of cooking conversion 1oz is 30g). So that would be less than what he has gained this week.

kismac · 13/06/2015 05:50

Oh Cinnamon, hope the supplements are helping and your other boys get the all clear.

Hooray for poo, Fi! It's crazy how obsessed we can get about it. Leah hadn't gone for 2 days but seems so much happier now.

Enjoy your pizza, Penguin.

I know Wine, bloody health visitors making you question yourself! Not what you need.

Leah has just slept for 7 hours. Yay!
