Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cinnamongreyhound · 08/06/2015 04:39

My baby is 8 and I've never left him for a weekend! I think I'm not the greatest example of letting go though, I struggled when he went to school and although they sleep over at my mums it's more for them and my mum not me. Dh tells me off because I'm desperate to go and get them the next morning! I love that they are independent because it's good for them but I also hate how independent they are because part of me does want them to need me!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/06/2015 13:46

So after taking Sam out of the sling to find us both soaked from a leaked nappy I just left him in his bouncy chair to put mindee down for a nap in the travel cot to find a poo exploded from everywhere! Not doing well today Angry

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 08/06/2015 14:35

Oh no cinnamon! I'm playing poo roulette today. She's usually goes twice a day, but after 27 hours yesterday she did a poo that would have needed an adult size nappy to contain and hasn't gone again since 9 am yesterday so I fear when it happens it'll be very messy!! I checked the sling was machine washable before I put her in earlier in fact!! Grin

Wineandchoccy · 08/06/2015 16:23

We have been to the baby group today and it was messy play where we had to undress our babies and put them in washing up bowls of cooked pasta, shredded wheat, custard, cous cous and bubbly water dd was ok until the custard then she screamed so I got covered trying to calm her down. I think we will both need a bath later Grin

kismac · 08/06/2015 17:02

That sounds like a crazy class, Wine!

We went for wee stroll in the garden using the sling but it started raining. She's been wee bit upset today. Lots of sad crying but managed to get her to sleep eventually. She's been sleeping on my chest for 2 hours. I really need to pee! Phoned DH to tell him the homemade burgers that I promised aren't going to happen and we'll need to raid the freezer instead.

PenguinPoser · 08/06/2015 17:26

Oh dear cinnamon what a nightmare! Hope you're all clean and dry now... Until next time Grin

Wineandchoccy I was laughing at the thought of you trying to comfort a custard covered baby... What an interesting class! Did the babies have to get cleaned like after going in the custard before the cous cous etc? I can just imagine a huge mess! I'm going to baby social tomorrow for the first time and apparently there are sensory activities on so we shall see.

Aw kismac hope you get up soon! Sometimes you just have to put them down and go to the loo - problem being 9/10 times that meant they wake up!

Just back from water babies. DD didn't like going underwater today she cried and I felt mean. The crying didn't last though but she didn't engage much in the class I think she was tired! Walked 3 miles with her in the pram this morning - my legs are tired now but trying to start getting fit again and lose a few points. Using my fitness pal is depressing when you can see how many calories are in every thing. I'm door well so far today though. Until the chocolate comes out....

kismac · 08/06/2015 20:41

Penguin, it's Water Babies Im going to book with as they do a Sunday class so me and DH can both go. Very excited but it doesn't start until August. Hope you enjoy your baby group tomorrow.

Yup, dieting is depressing. I ate 8 chocolate digestives today. Oops! I'm proud that I managed to show a wee bit of will power as I almost ate the whole packet.

Health visitor is coming on Friday to do 6 week check. Any idea what sort of things they cover?

cinnamongreyhound · 08/06/2015 21:11

Not bad though LitteGreyCatwithapinkcollar, that my first one that's exploded! Hope your sling is untarnished Grin

Wasn't long ago that we were told at a training session not to use food in messy play anymore due to it teaching children not to value food when so many we're going without, clearly your class hadn't been told that wineandchoccy! I'm not 100% convinced by that kind of play which such small children but glad did enjoyed it until the custard Smile

I found it really eye opening PenguinPoser, now I have a pretty good idea! Usually know how far I need to run for each of my favourite treats! That's what stressed me about swimming, you need to time it right when they're so little and have no routine.

Well he made it a hat trick by destroying a third outfit but this time with sick!

They will weigh amd measure baby kismac, ask you a few questions about baby and you and here they do the standard post natal depression questionnaire where you say if you smile, laugh, cry a lot, a bit, not at all and they give you a score to assess your risk of pnd. if you haven't already had it give you info on immunisations.

Wineandchoccy · 08/06/2015 21:44

Dd had her bath earlier so no custard remains! penguin no they didn't get cleaned inbetween so bits were stuck to the custard Grin
The babies about 5/6 month old seemed to love it but dd was a bit unsure so I agree cinnamon that she is probably a bit young to be dunked in gunky food.
I enjoy chatting to the other Mums though and it's a nice walk to the children's centre and the session only costs £1.50 for 1 hour 1/2.

smogsville · 09/06/2015 03:42

Wine you're a good woman. I would find the custard cleaning too much like hard work!

What is it about choc digestives I had two yesterday as well as handfuls of minstrels...

PenguinPoser · 09/06/2015 05:27

I need to stop buying cakes and biscuits it's the only way. Cadburys chocolate digestives are a particular weakness!

Kismac I wanted a weekend water babies class so DH could come but there wasn't one locally with space unfortunately. We might end up moving class at some point anyway depending on days and timings when I go back to work so we shall see Smile it's got to be easier having 2 of you there as one can get baby dry and dressed while parent that's been in the water sorts themselves!

My 6 week HV check literally seemed like a formality. She didn't even really look at dd or weigh her as I'd been to clinic 2 days before to have her weighed! No pnd score either! She did ask if I was ok though. And wrote in notes that dd had no tongue tie which was incorrect Hmm

Need some plans for today beyond baby social which is just an hour in the morning....

It got quite chilly in our room just now as window was open and I suspect that's what woke dd as she was only in a sleepsuit and 1.5tog sleeping bag as when I put her to bed it was 22degrees. A cuddle and some boob seems to be sending her back off and I'll put a light blanket over her and see if she'll settle for another hour or so...

kismac · 09/06/2015 06:39

Naughty baby. Put her down at 10pm and she woke at midnight. Has just slept for 6 hours so can't be annoyed but not the usual pattern. Hmmm should I just get up and start the day or snooze. Can't decide. Desperate to clean the bathroom so that's my plan for the day. Woo, so exciting. Ha ha.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2015 08:13

We had an unusual night too. He was asleep by 10 which is earlier than he has been but was then up 1.45 and didn't settle until 3, up at 5.30 and he's now feeding whereas I've been feeding him when we're back from school as he's stayed asleep. I think it's because I'd vaguely planned a morning run on Thursday as my littlest mindee is off so I won't start work as early, couldn't do it after last night or I'd be exhausted!

It's certainly got very miserable and cold overnight and this morning. Has no one told the weather it's June!

FiRaffe · 09/06/2015 09:43

Just catching up. The class sounds different Wine! Our classes are all coming to an end so I need to look out for more things to get us out.
Had a busy day yesterday with the dentist and a telephone assessment for pnd - i'm showing moderate depression and mild anxiety.. yay... My best friend was down though and she looked after DS so that was nice.
We've got jabs today... DH is working from home though so he can help with cuddles if needed!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 09/06/2015 09:49

DD wouldn't go down last night! I eventually fell asleep sign her sometime after 2! Though apart from one 10 min feed she then didn't wake til 9, so she's doing well o suppose, we just need to shift it earlier!

My day is mainly taken up by picking my mum up from hospital today. She had to have surgery yesterday but should be allowed home today!

PenguinPoser · 09/06/2015 12:30

I need to clean my bathroom too Kismac - probably won't get done though!

Sorry you had a busy night cinnamon. Hope the sun has come out at least - it has here Smile

Hope you're ok Fi - do you have much support around? Your best friend sounds lovely. Flowers

Wishing your mum a speedy recovery littlegreycat!

Have been to baby social this morning it was ok but having not been before I didn't know anyone - thought a couple of ladies from the bf group might be there but they weren't. I did chat to a couple of people but do find it hard when kinda thrust into a group! Oh well if I keep going I imagine it will be better. And if not I'll just not go!
Going to my mums later as she's on holiday and plants need watering. Will take the pram and take dd for a walk in park/on seafront of the sun stays out.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2015 21:00

No sun here and I got wet on school run Sad
Had a more settled evening here, Sam has slept from 2.30 and stayed asleep in the pushchair (put him on his tummy) and slept until 4 which seems to have helped the last two nights. Hadnt got around to bathing him today and I usually do every other day so I put my big boys to bed and bought the bath down, it really chilled him. We then had some time singing, gave him medicine and now feeding him, I'll be happy if he goes down after this feed but anything before 10.30 is a bonus!

Wineandchoccy · 09/06/2015 22:27

Hope you are ok Firaffe

penguin just remember everyone has been new at the groups and you all have something in common with having a baby. The way I look at it is even if you only talk about poo and sick it's a change of scenery Smile

I hope your Mum is ok after her surgery [littlegreycat]

[cinnamon] I hope Sam is asleep by now and you have a good night.

I've got a sore back I fed dd sat on the floor at baby massage earlier and now I can't get comfy. Dd let me massage her legs then cried but an improvement on last week where she screamed the whole way through.

FiRaffe · 10/06/2015 04:19

Wine that's progress. DS slept through baby massage today as he had his jabs. He's a bit unsettled tonight, bless him.

Hope all went on with your mum little grey.

I'm not good with new groups either Penguin but I push through for DS as much as anything. Don't have much support here other than DH, my best friend lives up north and our families are miles away too. They are all on the end of the phone but it isn't the same.

Hope you're having a good night all

Wineandchoccy · 10/06/2015 04:29

Dd has just woke up after a 6 hour sleep I've just had to change my bra and nightie though as I've leaked, Tesco breast pads don't last a 6 hour stretch!

PenguinPoser · 10/06/2015 04:42

Hope you managed a good sleep Wineandchoccy! I hate waking before baby and thinking argh wake up I need to feed you! Had about 6h here too... Just about to put her down again and keep my fingers crossed!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/06/2015 05:12

Thanks wineandchoccy, he was asleep just before 10 and although he did feed almost constantly it felt calmer somehow. He's only just up now so I've had 7 hours sleep!!!! No leaking here thankfully but very very full!

I agree about the groups PenguinPoser, I think everyone feels like that but you do have something ready made in common and hopefully some of them will become friends.

kismac · 10/06/2015 05:38

Fi, hope you are ok. Remember to keep talking about how you feel and things will improve.

Oh no, LittleGreyCat hope your mum is ok after her surgery.

Im excited about joining group but also bit nervous. Our area is quite posh so have feeling i might not fit in.

She's just slept for 6 hours. We normally only get 5 so things are looking up. She was very grumpy during the day and didn't sleep very much.

My dad is hopefully popping in today so going to ask if we can go for a walk.

FiRaffe · 10/06/2015 07:57

Kismac if you don't fit in that's their problem not yours! You are lovely and your income and family situation is irrelevant - babies don't care!

Lucky things with the 6 hours, although we had 4 hour stints which wasn't too bad, it's a shame the sleeping time in that is probably closer to 2 hours!

Must go and pump before my right boob explodes!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 10/06/2015 10:17

Thanks everyone. Mum is on the mend! No exploding boobs here as DD seems to only be managing a couple of hours at a time at night at the moment Sad . And she's not even particularly hungry when she wakes, just seems to want a cuddle! cheeky thing. Just starting to worry as I'm back to work relatively soon and will need some sleep at night to cope!!

We've found a water babies class starting at the beginning of sept on a Sunday afternoon which I think we'll sign up for. I'll be back at work so will be nice to have something just me and her as DH will be with her all week! Not been to any other groups yet. I wish I wasn't shy! We do have our nct reunion this Sunday, but there were only 3 couples on the course including us so not a huge affair!!

Going to clinic this morning just to check her weight, then into work for lunchtime to show her off, then calling in to check on my mum before my little sister visits for tea time later so busy day here
