I used Medela nipple shields and I found them quite good . They come in different sizes which is handy.

Aww Jet, that sucks. We're starting to get 3-4 hour stretches now and she's 4 weeks but she feeds like a maniac from 5pm onwards and I can then finally put her down at 9.30pm ish. Can you try and add a few extra feeds during the day/evening and see if that helps.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/06/2015 02:16

Sorry to hear that jetpackplease! I found after 6 weeks things got easier. I also found letting him nap in his tummy during the day helped him Sleep longer. With ds2 giving him a muslin to snuggle with helped. Ds1 didn't sleep well during the day until about 6 months but was better at night than your ds. Hope thing improve soon!

So after some horrible cluster feeding whingey evenings ds3 slept from 7 tonight. I changed him at 10 and managed to wake him up giving him his medicine gave him a feed but he was asleep pretty quick and woke 25mins ago. Be interesting to see what he does next as with the cluster feeding he's been going 10-4, so looks like the feed at 10 didn't make a massive difference and I shod have just gone to bed!

Jetpackplease · 01/06/2015 02:35

Stupid question, but how do you put them to sleep on their front? I mean, how do you position them? When he sleeps on DH during the day he is often pretty much on his front if DH is reclined on the sofa. He does seem to sleep well for those naps!

Going to put him back down now. Reckon we'll be up again at 4.

crazytyke · 01/06/2015 06:47

Hi I'm sorry I've been totally rubbish at posting but am following the thread. could someone let me know how to join FB group please?

cinnamongreyhound · 01/06/2015 07:09

He usually has his hands up by the side of his head and naturally turns his head to one side and usually tucks his little knees under his bum, looks like a little frog Grin

Hi crazytyke, sorry don't remember you when was you lo born? Did you have a boy or girl? There's been so many people pop up and disappear again over the months it's hard to keep track Smile you need to pm someone you real name so they can friend request and add you.

PenguinPoser · 01/06/2015 08:31

Jetpack - will just quickly say that front sleeping isn't recommended in safe sleep guidelines. However I accept it has been done for ages, whatever works for you works and I wouldn't ever say don't do it (I co sleep sometimes and all kinds that's not advised!) but as long as you do things as safely as possible and you all get some rest that's the main thing. I think broken sleep is horrendous. If it makes you feel any better my current experience is that it does get better. Hang in there you're doing great! Does baby nap much during the day when you could catch up a bit?

i have my second water babies class this afternoon Smile

TheBooMonster · 01/06/2015 08:39

Blush don't mind me, I've totally been here all Along and totally didn't fall off the planet for 8 weeks. No-sir!

I will catch up on the thread this evening, can't believe we're still on the same one!!

Evie rolled for the first time this morning, right off the makeshift floor-bed she and I have been sleeping on, thank good we weren't on the master bed!

This had even dropped off my threads I'm on!

Hello again... Marking place...

Wineandchoccy · 01/06/2015 08:46

jetpack where is DS sleeping, does any of the below help?
This is what a friends Mum who is a midwife advised for me to try, I have put a thin cot bed pillow under DD's crib and Moses basket mattress at the head end so it's raised slightly and we have gone from 2 hourly to 4 hourly most nights. I also have rolled up 2 cellular blankets and they are either side of her but only up to her waist then I tuck a muslin over the top of her and around the blanket sausages so she is nice and snug. It is supposed to trick them into thinking they are still being held.
The pillows were £4 from Asda.

FiRaffe · 01/06/2015 08:58

Welcome back ladies!

I can't remember who was asking about nipped shields but I bought some mam ones to help with the Reynauds and DS just seems to choke on the nipple size. They are small size... has anyone else had this problem?

PenguinPoser · 01/06/2015 10:31

Wow Boo that's impressive! Although not good if she's rolling off things. DD has rolled from her front to her back (I thing because she doesn't like tummy time) a couple of times which I was also impressed with. Nice to see people back Grin

skyra13 · 01/06/2015 10:44

Not posted I think since after the birth! Hey all! Hope you and little ones are doing well!
Re nipple shields I had tomme tipie ones however it spelt could not get on with them I just use plenty of nipple cream before and after!

Wineandchoccy · 01/06/2015 11:20

I have made an appointment at the bf clinic for this afternoon so will see what advice they have if not I will buy some more nipple shields that you have mentioned.

It's cold, wet and windy today and I have a pile of washing to do because dd was sick in her crib, my bed, covered my dressing gown and 2 x baby gros. The washer and tumble dryer are going to be working hard today.

BrixtonBunny · 01/06/2015 11:47

Jetpack message me your real name and I'll add you.

No advice re: nipple shields I'm afraid, good luck though.

Boo remind me how old she is? Rolling sounds advanced!

DD has had two incredible nights of going to sleep at 22:30, waking up 4:30-5:15ish, then sleeping until 8:30. Delighted but after another nap this morning she seems v unsettled. Maybe a growth spurt? Boob is calming her as ever but she seems quite cross otherwise. Poor lamb, she was a delight earlier this morning giving us huge smiles.

BrixtonBunny · 01/06/2015 11:52

And now she's calm again. Maybe just super hungry after long sleeps?! Blush

PenguinPoser · 01/06/2015 11:54

Must be the day for it Brixton my DD is quite unsettled today too. Goodness knows why!

Wineandchoccy my washing machine doesn't know what's hit it recently! Can't keep on top of it all as I don't have space to dry it all. That reminds me the towels are washed and ready to come out....!

I'm hiding with the blinds closed as the window cleaner men are here and they are cleaning all of the window frames gutters etc (we did ask them to!) but it's taking ages. They're nice enough but don't want them getting a flash of boob through the window Blush. Might get out for a little walk after lunch before water babies unless DD settles for a nap. I'm feeling the need for exercise as my flabby tummy is annoying me - mainly as lots of my pre pregnancy trousers don't fit so I'm uncomfy and therefore reminded about it!

MoominMama22 · 01/06/2015 12:09

Whoop , only about a 10 week absence but I am back! I am afraid I do not have the time to catch up... But I will try to keep up!

We have 8 week jabs later today :( :( DD hasn't been herself , huge explosive up the back throufh-every-layer poos and either screaming or asleep, and threw up yesterday. Only the 3rd time she has been sick since we brought her home. This and one other time was gripe water so I won't give it to her again .

She has been asleep SO much. Long blocks. I just have no clue about babies I will ask doc today. She might not even get her jabs if he isn't sure about her...

Oh God was writing this when neighbour popped in and not only is house a bomb site only realised once she is gone she was sitting amongst used brewst pads and dirty nappies. Oh well at least she has seen my house as Bad as its ever going to be..

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 01/06/2015 13:16

This is the one time your house can be a state and noone cars moomin! Hope your little one feels better soon!

We had our first formula free day for nearly 3 weeks yesterday, no top ups needed. Made me really happy, now to see if I can keep up with her again today!!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/06/2015 13:35

I posted earlier and it obviously didn't work! Oh well, was just explaining why I put ds3 on his tummy and that he sleeps on his back no probs at night!

No advice re nipple shields I used them for a day with ds1 and that was 8 years ago! Got them from mothercare then.

We had a few similar nights BrixtonBunny but with the grump cluster feeding in the evening and happy smiles in the morning. He actually slept through the evening yesterday and despite my attempt to wake and feed him at 10 he didn't take a lot and so woke at 2 then 5.45 and had an hours feed!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/06/2015 13:39

Sorry littlegreycatwithapinkcollar took me so long to post between interruptions I crossed posts! That's fantastic news, well done!

Jetpackplease · 01/06/2015 13:59

Thanks for the advice ladies. Ds has been sleeping on me on and off since 9ish. He's woken for v short feeds but not had much. I think he's becoming nocturnal. I wouldn't mind, but he wakes up when I put him down, so I can't sleep myself.

Hope everyone with unsettled babies gets some peace.

PenguinPoser · 01/06/2015 14:15

Haha typical dd has been napping for an hour now and is still quite well asleep and we have to leave for water babies in 45mins having fed her! Hmm! She can't win Grin

Hope the jabs go well moomin. I think it's worse for us than the babies.

Yay littlegreycat well done on the feeding!

MoominMama22 · 01/06/2015 18:19

No jags. They agreed she isn't 100% and we're postponing til Fri and then Mon for the rotavirus.
Was in that boiling hot surgery for almost 2 hours what a waste of time. At least they checked her and no temp! I don't know what the rosy cheeks are about- hopefuly not teeethihg!!!

smogsville · 01/06/2015 20:22

Evening all. Am struggling to keep up with FB I must say but will try harder.

Medela nipple shields are the best. The boots ones are indeed rubbish.

Finally took DS to HVclinic this morning and his weight is bang on so I am determined to stop worrying about all the vom!

smogsville · 01/06/2015 20:22

Oh and welcome back oldies!
