Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PenguinPoser · 28/05/2015 09:24

Good night here... Not counting my chickens though as I know it won't last.
Hope your quicker settling is a new trend too cinnamon!
What's anyone up to today? I'm going through to see my dad for lunch as its his birthday. Need to pop to the supermarket first.
Booked dd's christening yesterday. Looking forward to it although not until September. I'm a little irritated as my mum complained that it was the start of her 2 weeks off work and she might be going on holiday. It might not. Who knows. They normally don't book anything until the last minute anyway and given that there are so few dates the church do christenings I simply can't plan around everyone's possible holidays that may or may not happen. My mum then suggested that we change the church Shock I was like er no we want her christened in the church we were married in and where I was christened. At the end of the day I will be very disappointed if she isn't there and I know she will likely moan about being constrained about when she can book a holiday but will want to be at the christening. Blah Confused
MIL then immediately also responded with "have you told auntie x uncle y cousins etc..." er no cos we booked it like half an hour ago and it's 4 months away!!
Families eh.

FiRaffe · 28/05/2015 09:24

Glad you had a good night cinnamon.

We had a dodgy time putting DS down, but he then went through from about 2 until 6. He squirms so much in the night though with wind. It usually wakes me and obviously is causing him so much pain.

I am glad that he knows how to get his wind moving but it's still bad.

FiRaffe · 28/05/2015 09:29

Cross post Penguin.

Great news on booking the christening. Families are hard work..... at least it is the beginning of your mum's holiday!

I'm very lucky with ours. Generally they just want to help and are proud of what we're doing. Wish everyone else has the same support. Just a shame our families are too far away!

PenguinPoser · 28/05/2015 09:44

Ours are generally good Fi I don't often have cause to complain - but still get grumpy when I do have to complain Wink my mum has been a massive help since having dd and wouldn't change her for the world but still irritated about the christening date!
Aw sorry you're still having difficulty with wind. Does sound like he had a decent chunk of sleep though so fingers crossed it gets better!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 10:34

If he's sleeping through it FiRaffe, don't feel too worried about him being pain and if he's able to move it himself that's a good sign too.

Sorry your mum is being a pain PenguinPoser! We haven't christened any of ours as we are not religious, we did think about a naming ceremony with ds1 as my mum was really disappoint with the lack of christening but it was pretty expensive so we decided not to. We just had family and friends to their first birthday and kind of celebrated that way.

FiRaffe · 28/05/2015 10:40

Yep he sleeps through the wind thankfully when he's actually asleep.

We're hoping to do a christening. We aren't overly religious but it's important to me I give him everything now so he can do anything he wants when he's older, including being christened so he can get married in a church if he wants to.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 28/05/2015 11:25

Good news on sleep everyone! Our night was Ok after I have in and put her next to me. She just refused her crib for the first time in a week! Oh well, we'll try again tonight Smile

I really need to get on with christening planning/arranging, particularly as our vicar was on the cookery show 'the box' yesterday... If forgotten til I saw him as we haven't been to church for ages!! Sorry to hear your mum annoyed you penguin. My mum is fab but she does say the odd thing that makes me Angry !!

kismac · 28/05/2015 12:33

Our night was ok. Got 2 x 3 hour stretches but she pleaded starvation between 4-6am. Wee monkey.

Aww, Penguin sorry your mum is being difficult. We're having some issues booking christening. We've decided to have it in DH old family church down south as he's quite religious and Im not as much. Which means 6 hour drive for my family but we did have the wedding up here so I think it's only fair. So it means none of my sisters will come andmy mum has had a moan but I don't care .

Wineandchoccy · 28/05/2015 13:13

We had an ok night as well.

I have received 3 telephone cold calls this morning and she has cried through all 3 what an excuse to say sorry I am busy Grin

We are arranging DD's christening hopefully for August, my mum is getting my christening gown dry cleaned for her to wear.

We are off to the weighing clinic this afternoon fingers crossed for good weight gain.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 14:18

That sucks that your sisters won't come kismac Sad

FiRaffe · 28/05/2015 15:50

Hope the weigh in went well Wine.

Kismac I hope your family come round!

smogsville · 28/05/2015 17:25

Hmmm I know for a fact I must still weigh more than pre preg as one pair of jeans is rather tight!

I could hop on mum's scales but I just ate a wodge of carrot cake the size of my head with cream cheese frosting all over it so perhaps not.

Instead I will check the forecast for the weekend and try to decide between fish and chips on the seafront followed y ice cream or a big fat arvo tea for when DH comes to join us.

Families are sometimes fabulous but often rather annoying. I'm sure I fit this description myself from time to time Blush

FiRaffe · 28/05/2015 19:11

Ooh both options sound good smogs. DH and I love afternoon tea...think we will have to treat ourselves when DS is a bit bigger

Wineandchoccy · 28/05/2015 19:55

Dd has put on 8oz in 10 days so the tongue tie seems to have worked Smile

smogsville · 28/05/2015 20:24

Nice one Wine!

Yes FiRaffe I have become an even bigger fan since essentially giving up booze for preg and BF - feels like a great alternative treat ??????

What's everyone's babies doing ATM? Mine is lying down having a bit of a shout but I can't hold him and jiggle him anymore, I'm too tired and my shoulders are killing me ??????

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 21:19

Mine is attached to me and has been since 7pm but he's done this the last two nights and slept either 9.30-3.30 or 10.30-4.30 so shouldn't complain I guess. Feeling really tired today!

PenguinPoser · 28/05/2015 21:22

Mine is sitting on DH knee looking around the room and looking distinctly NOT tired! Grin she looks v cute though!

FiRaffe · 28/05/2015 21:54

We're in bed watching Hawaii five-0 on Amazon prime. He's been having lovely cuddles with his dad who is now changing his nappy and vest then I'll feed him and hopefully put him down for a couple of hours. We will deal with the crying baby first as we aren't providing food fast enough!!!

smogsville · 28/05/2015 21:56

If DS would sit on me quietly I wouldn't mind but he can get quite cross, flings his head about etc.

Cinnamon I'm super tired too. I think I overdid it today by going for quite a long and hilly walk with DD, Mum and DS in the baby Bjorn.

Once again ??????!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 28/05/2015 22:41

Good work on the weight gain wine!

In bed feeding here. DH and I ate dinner both two handed and together tonight without a baby screaming in the background for the first time in 6 weeks (DD is 6 weeks today!) while she sat in her chair and amused herself. Feels like some proper progress!!Grin

PenguinPoser · 28/05/2015 22:43

Smogs I don't know if you're using weird emoticons but they don't show up on my phone just come as a black box with question mark in? Hope you get some rest tonight.

FiRaffe - I love Hawaii five 0 but can't watch it myself in the dark it's too scary! Has totally put me off going to Hawaii as clearly you can't go there without getting kidnapped or murdured Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 23:02

He hasn't stopped feeding since 7pm, im knackered and just want to sleep, he's drifted off twice but wakes up as soon as I move him and dh wants to know what's wrong with me! I just said I'm tired and want to go to sleep and fed up of the baby feeding off me. His answer 'don't f&?!ing bf then!' Not 'it must be tiring he has been feeding a lot this evening hasn't he' which would have been more helpful Angry

Wineandchoccy · 28/05/2015 23:15

Ahh cinnamon how frustrating that DH doesn't get how tiring it is. I can't believe how tiring it is looking after dd yet some days I have hardly done anything except sit and feed dd. I hope you can put him down soon and get some well deserved rest.

Yeah on the two handed dinner littlegreycat

I'm in bed feeding dd and DH is in the spare room because his hay fever is bad today and he said he will disturb me because he can't stop sneezing, I quite like having the bed to myself Grin

My cousin has gone into labour today, My mum rang earlier with an update and it brought it all back. I'm glad dd is here and it's not me puffing and panting!

FiRaffe · 29/05/2015 01:49

That's not good to hear cinnamon. I'm so lucky, my breasts are really sore so DH is giving DS a bottle for me at the moment. I count my blessings every day!

Yay for the 2 handed eating as well. Great to hear all the babies progressing well and making our lives easier (until they hit their next leap!)

PenguinPoser · 29/05/2015 04:38

Grr cinnamon that's not helpful of your DH is it... It's not as black and white as that! really hope your ds has settled to sleep and that you're asleep.

Sorry you're still in pain FiRaffe Sad when is your breastfeeding support? It might be worth you looking into la leche league too as their leaders are very knowledgeable and helpful usually.

Good news about eating your dinner littlegreycat Grin it's a great feeling isn't it!

Well last nights sleeping through was a one off which I thought it would be. She's just done 10-4 though so not too bad. My boob went crazy when I started feeding and just sprayed milk everywhere Hmm so poor dd was fussing while I mopped it all up and waited for it to slow down. Hope she settles again for a couple of hours.
