cinnamongreyhound · 20/05/2015 15:14

If bloods are normal Friday we are supposed to have two weeks off hospital visits but today I got a letter that he has to have an ultrasound of his spine Confused and worried. Dh says it's because kidneys are at the back but it's a month earlier than we'd been told and they did the last one from the front. Will worry now until I see consultant on Friday!

FiRaffe · 20/05/2015 16:03

Oh no, hope it's just being overly cautious.

Have had a successful afternoon and made brownies for my MIL's birthday. She will be back from Chelsea soon and we're having take away for tea- yay!

brummagem · 20/05/2015 17:24

Hope bloods are ok and you get positive answers on Friday cinnamon.

My DH has become even more obsessed with gardening recently so we've been avidly watching a billion gardening programmes. He has an allotment and is really good at providing us with veges and flowers. He pipes up this week "can we go to Chelsea?" Bless. Maybe next year.

My beautiful sleeping boy has turned back into a grouchy not sleeping crying monster. He was settling into his carrycot before he reached 14 days but since then has been crying loads and farting like his dad. So upsetting I thought he was calming down but think it looks like a big colic marathon might be on the horizon for next few weeks. He's also started falling asleep on the nipple which he never normally does.

So tired.

FiRaffe · 20/05/2015 17:58

Hope it gets better gem. There is light at the other end of the tunnel... We had times like that and now we sometime get 5hour stints!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/05/2015 00:28

Grrr after sleeping 5-8.30 he's fed constantly until 10.45 and seemed very asleep since then he's been up 10 mins after I put him down and really restless. 5 min max feed and asleep, a couple of burps and a poo but not helping. Dh has had quite a bit to drink tonight and is snoring very loudly. Every time I get back into bed he's taking up most of my side and hugging my bloody pillow, then he wraps himself around me, passes out pinning me to the bed. Then when I get up again he asks me what's wrong. Hmmm your son is awake again but you are too unconscious to hear him AngryHmm

kismac · 21/05/2015 01:37

Hope everything goes well on Friday, Cinnamon.

Ooh brownies. Yum! It's DH's birthday on Saturday. I must remember to make hima cake. My DH is really into gardening too. I'd love to go to Chelsea.

Ooh Brum and Cinnamon. Hope they settle soon. Leah has been really weird today. She normally sleep most of Tim day but has been wide awake instead but I can tell she's tired but just won't sleep. She's been on my boob for over an hour now. Hurry up.

Health visitor was due today but her clinic overran. Feel a bit annoyed that we ended up stuck in the house but nevermind.

PenguinPoser · 21/05/2015 04:33

Hope babies are sleeping! Grr cinnamon I would be annoyed too! Keeping my fingers crossed for the bloods for your ds3 as well.
Hope things settled Brummagem!

I ended up cancelling my work appt yesterday basically because dd was asleep after having no naps for 2 days no way was I going to wake her unless absolutely necessary so I've rescheduled for next week.

Want to be back in my bed...

cinnamongreyhound · 21/05/2015 05:00

Me too! Up 3.45 back down at 4.20 but awake again at 4.30 and now. As soon as pick him up he's pretty much instantly back to sleep and o can put him down but he wakes so soon. Haven't been able to get any wind up at all. Trying another feed in case that shifts it. Such a good night last night and now I've had 4hrs if that, oh well today is a new day!

brummagem · 21/05/2015 08:50

Oh cinnamon that's exhausting! Is it a growth spurt thing or just a random thing?

DS has me well trained. He's asleep on me where as 10 mins ago he was grizzling in his carrycot. Starting to not buy this "you can't spoil a newborn" spiel. Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 21/05/2015 09:20

He is usually asleep for the night by 10.30 so the late night was random but being awake for 1.5hrs in the night is normal! He is usually awake at 5.30 too so a bit earlier but he did do back down just after 5 until my alarm at 6.20 then slept 7-9 Angry

smogsville · 21/05/2015 11:27

What are people dressing the babies in outside when it's sunny and really quite warm like today?

I have DS in a vest and babygro as usual then I put him into a big travelling suit (not snow suit) thingy in buggy with the footmuff on too but I feel like it's far too hot for him in there. Shall I get rid of footmuff? It's difficult bc each day is radically different in temperature to the next!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/05/2015 11:50

He's in the sling a lot so no more as my body heat keeps him warm and if I'm too cold I do up my giant cardigan around us both. In the pushchair generally a cardigan and blanket, a fleece footmuff/cosy toes may be too warm but it's been pretty windy here!

smogsville · 21/05/2015 12:02

Thanks cinnamon I agree when in sling he boils next to me in just his indoor clothes. Right it's bye bye muff.

In other news we have booked flights to NZ at Christmas as it's my MIL's 80th on 2nd Jan. I am trying not to think about what we're letting ourselves in for. Two 12hr flights on each leg with a 4yo and and 8 month old ShockConfusedBlushConfusedSad. Am going to ask my parents if they would have the children for a week next June by which time DS will be off the boob (whether he likes it or not - I'll give him a year but no more) so me and DH can escape to Italy for a week's holiday by ourselves!

PenguinPoser · 21/05/2015 17:29

That's a long journey smogs - sure it will be fine hopefully the children will sleep most of the way! I know what you mean about the weather and not knowing what to dress them in! Also if going in the car seat I don't want to put the suit thing on... She ends up in layers of cardigans!

FiRaffe · 21/05/2015 19:27

Wow smogs that's brave.

Today we are in nothing but a nappy, but that's my hot baby. He has a vest shorts combo on until he explosive pooed over it but was really warm. I think just keep checking and adjust accordingly

Had a tough night but had 3 explosive poos in a row and everything seems calmer. Hopefully he keeps that up overnight!

Hope you've all had on days

PenguinPoser · 22/05/2015 00:12

Hope he's stayed settled FiRaffe - maybe it was a build up of poo that was the problem!

New record... Up for the first night feed before midnight Sad 11.45pm dd whimpering on! Changed her and feeding now. Don't think she's particularly hungry but you never know. It's so warm in our bedroom worried she might be too warm in her sleepsuit and blanket. Have opened the window!

PenguinPoser · 22/05/2015 03:26

Wow this time yesterday I was asleep no wake ups yet and now I'm on the 2nd feed of the night, how things change!!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2015 04:48

That wase last night PenguinPoser! He went 10.30-4 the night before then didn't go to sleep until 12.30 and was up at 3.30 then didn't resettle until 5 and was awake at 6.15 again! Hope you're asleep now.

Dh and I fell out in the middle of the night Sad Ds3 was really unsettled yesterday evening so he suggested going to bed and taking him with us which we did, I fell asleep feeding him almost straight away and didn't hear him stir again. Dh woke me at 1.30 getting back into bed, he put his arm around me and I said don't for a minute but he did it again so I repeated. He instantly offence and said we agreed we'd put him in bed when he's settled did you want me to put him in bed. I was quite disoriented, didn't realise the time or even really register ds3 was still there and really uncomfortably needed a wee. I put him in his cot no probs and had a wee then went back to bed where dh started shouting. I told him I was too tired to argue and was going back to sleep. Woke 15 mins ago to crying and am now feeding, he's snoring but hope we can be more reasonable with each other when I go back up!

kismac · 22/05/2015 05:58

Oh Cinnamon, Im sorry you've had a falling out. Like you said I hope it gets resolved once you are both a bit more rested.

Managed to convince DH not to instantly pick up Leah when she starts to grumble and we've just got a 4 hour break. She seems to be feeding better too since she's bit more awake too.

Health visitor is coming at 9am (yawn) to chat about Childsmile.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 22/05/2015 07:13

I know the feeling penguin. 7 hour sleep by this time yesterday, 3 feeds in the same time last night. I've even got DH up to do a nappy atm which I never do this early! They sound like they are having fun I think!

smogsville · 22/05/2015 07:53

What's childsmile kismac?

Penguin we leave DS if he's just whimpering. We wait until he's really hungry. I appreciate this may be harder with your first.

Cinnamon it's so hard not to be cross with the DHs when delirious with exhaustion. Hope it gets sorted.

FiRaffe · 22/05/2015 08:10

Sorry to hear that cinnamon. I honestly don't think dads understand how draining it is not only being awake but being fed from too. Mine tries but even though he wakes most feeds he is asleep again within 5 mins.

We had a much better night, although feeds 3 hourly instead of 4. He was supposed to have a bottle feed but he refused the bottle.... need to try the new one we git yesterday, fingers crossed it makes a difference!

Wineandchoccy · 22/05/2015 08:16

Sorry you fell out during the night cinnamon hope you are both ok today.

I'm convinced I posted on here last night but there is no message I must have been tired but my little darling has just done a 6 1/2 hour stretch. She cluster fed all evening but I don't mind if I get a long stretch of sleep.

smogsville childsmile is a fantastic scheme that is run in Scotland to improve the dental health of Scotland. In England the only scheme at the minute similar is in the Hull area called Bus Brush which is hopefully going to be rolled out to other areas of the country. Bus brush is where childcare providers are given free toothbrushes & toothpaste to use in nurseries/childminders and also linked to a dentist for support. I work in dental and could bore you about teeth forever Grin
kismac 9am appointment! I think all baby appointments should be after 12.00 because it's like a military operation getting baby changed, dressed, fed never mind me.

PenguinPoser · 22/05/2015 08:59

Sad cinnamon sorry you had a falling out with your DH. Things are always difficult in the middle of the night. Hope things are ok today.

Smogs yeah we do leave her a little bit to see if she'll settle again, sometimes if input Ewan sheep back on she'll settle a bit longer. Damn sheep only stays on for 20mins it should stay on longer!

Hopefully tonight will be more settled. I'm taking dd to my dads for lunch, then this afternoon a friend from uni is coming to visit and haven't seen her for a few months so that will be nice then we are going out for tea with a couple of other friends. Leaving DH with a bottle I've got over 5oz expressed over last few mornings so that should do for a couple of hours Smile.

Can't wait for the weekend - it makes such a difference when DH is home with me.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2015 09:11

Thank you all, we made friends when I went back to bed at 5.30, he was just hurt I didn't want him to cuddle me!! Unfortunately we were up again at 6 and I put him in bed to doze, overslept by 20 mins but still got everything done.

Looking forward to the weekend too. Dh is knackered since he's been back to work so is asleep by 9-9.30 most nights despite getting more sleep than me (put it down to old age!). Couple of days at home with slower get ups will be lovely Smile
