Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

There's a weekly drop in clinic for any problems but I feel a bit terrified that I'vebeen left to look after a baby without someone keeping an eye on me.

Yeah, c section sucks. Can start doing longer walks from week 4/5 but no proper exercise until after 3 months.

FiRaffe · 17/05/2015 15:12

It is scary kismac but the ladies here (and on Facebook) are invaluable in that regard. Always on hand for reassurance and advice, which is more than you would probably get from 5 mins with the health visitor once a week

brummagem · 17/05/2015 20:40

Kismac I completely share that feeling. It's overwhelming sometimes! I go to sleep and sometimes wake up forgetting I have DS then panic it's all too much responsibility. I'm sure if he keeps growing then I must be doing something right as DH gives only 1 bottle about 2oz-3oz at night which can't be enough to sustain a 9lb baby lol.

I'm sure as we find our feet more it will get better

PenguinPoser · 18/05/2015 01:45

I still feel I don't have a clue what I'm doing! Tired too... Had very high hopes dd might sleep for 7h like last night... But she's only done 4.5 so I wasn't expecting to be up yet... Yaaaaawn. Hope she goes back down. I wish it was more comfy for me to feed her lying down but it hurts my back lying in a position that she can get boob and still breathe. So end up if I doze off waking up in pain!

Dreading tonight (Monday night) DH away on work course so first night alone with dd. It's just literally the fact that he won't be there to wake if I'm stressed out or whatever. Pleased it's only one night. My mums coming after with so I won't be alone until bedtime which is good at least she will make sure I eat!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2015 03:28

Glad you've got your mum PenguinPoser, it's always scary on you own but you'll be fine! Sorry you did get your 7 hours. We seem to go from 9/10 until 1/3 most nights now but last two he's taken 1.5hrs to go back down and been up at 5.30. Hope he'll feed and go back off tonight although I have at least had 5hrs already!

Wineandchoccy · 18/05/2015 03:31

It's cold this morning doing the first feed of the day and it sounds like it's raining hard I hope it stops later as I want to push dd out in her pram because she seems to sleep better with some fresh air.

penguin 7 hours sleep must have felt amazing the night before, you will be fine on your own get everything ready beforehand I.e drinks, snacks, nappies etc

PenguinPoser · 18/05/2015 03:45

Weather forecast is pants here Wineandchoccy pretty much for the whole week. Hopefully there will be some nice spells so we can get out for walks too. I do wish I had had the 7 hours sleep but dd went off at 7.30pm when I was out till 9. Was in bed at 10 so I had about 4+ hours which I suppose is still good compared to tonight Hmm I'm up feeding again and getting tired and grumpy because she's chomping on my nipple and it's getting sore latch looks ok so not sure why. Since her tt release my poor right nipple Sad I've had to get the lansinoh back out. When I put hey down at about 2.20 she was immediately wide awake but did self settle a bit but not for long.

Pleased you've had a few hours cinnamon. I honestly don't know how you're doing this with working as well!

Lauren82000 · 18/05/2015 03:58

I'm on second wake up of the night I'm not counting the 20min cat nap she had after the first one when I tried to put her down too soon.

She is stills little sniffly and currently snoozing on me after a quick nibble. (Not even feeding for long but at least it's not painful after last night/this morning)

I have downloaded the wonder weeks app after a few of you ladies had mentioned it. Apparently her growth spurt will be in 4 days so who knows what the cluster feeding and clinginess is about if it's not a growth spurt. I'm just not convinced it's that accurate for us Hmm.

Wineandchoccy · 18/05/2015 04:00

penguin I've got a sore right nipple since the tt as well im going to go to the breastfeeding clinic this week to get some advice.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2015 04:01

He did what is becoming usual and was up 10mons after he'd fallen asleep but I got a massive burp and now he's feeding again but I think just to drop of. Perhaps I need to work harder at winding him when he's finished in the night. Trouble is he's asleep and I want to be so just put him back in the cot but perhaps I'm making life more difficult for myself. Needs must PenguinPoser! I was in a pretty terrible way with ds2 but feel better mentally this time around, my emotion tired moments seem less often and I have more demanding children this time so maybe I've learned or am just coping better Confused

Wineandchoccy · 18/05/2015 04:10

cinnamon i find it hard winding during the night because you just want to get the job done as quickly as possible and close your eyes but like you I regret the quick put down because dd burps after I put her down then wants more milk.

I'm starving, hurry up feeding dd I want an early breakfast!

kismac · 18/05/2015 04:51

I can never get any burps out. She does fart a lot though. We've just had a nice wee 4 hours stretch of sleep. Woo!

My left boob is rock solid. Think I'll need to pump it later today as she doesn't seem to be emptying it.

FiRaffe · 18/05/2015 05:20

I barely get any burps out too but make sure I keep him upright even during the night feeds for 20 mins. Sometimes he burps in his sleep!

Had a 5 hour stretch after a mad feeding stretch in the evening. My boy does like his sleep thankfully.

Hope you're all having okay nights

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2015 06:09

Ah love the 5.30 wake up Sad fed, changed, poo'd, while changing again was sick, cleaned that up, fed but stopped so winded (yay I'm learning) now feeding again and I may get back to bed 10mins before my alarm goes off!!!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 18/05/2015 06:25

Oh cinnamon I hope you get a quick doze!

Good luck with your alone night penguin.

Quick early morning feed here, but after being awake from 8am to 11pm yesterday with no more than 4 20min naps DD has pretty much slept through. I think I stuck a boob in her mouth lying down at about 2 but other than that we've both slept! I did mean to pop her in her basket once she was asleep but clearly I was asleep by then so she's been next to me all that time! Hoping I can put her down for a couple more hours so I'm ready to deal with her being awake all day again which seems to be her thing!!!

Lauren82000 · 18/05/2015 08:16

Littlegreycat they do seem to sleep much better in bed with is don't they? DD has just woken up now after her 4am feed. She is pulling a whole range of random faces at me now. Lots of sneezes that she needed last night to clear her nose this morning instead! Angry

And I also can't believe DD1 slept in her own bed last night and she is still asleep! Slept right through DH getting ready for work. He checked on her so she is fine but I'll check her again when this one has finished feeding. It's really not like her to sleep so late.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 18/05/2015 10:44

Hope you enjoyed the peace Lauren! We did get a little more sleep, went down at 7:15 & we slept till 9:30! Tried the basket but no go. My chest was the only place for her!! I don't mind too much. It won't be long before she's too big for that so making the most of it!

Lauren82000 · 18/05/2015 11:32

I thoroughly enjoyed my peace and quiet Littlegreycat. Smile DD got up at 8.30 and she was very pleasant and well behaved for me. Then just as I was deciding what we could do today (the weather is rubbish) DH's grandma rang me she wanted to steal DD1 for a few hours so now I'm chilling out with a snoozing DD2 and contemplating a nap of my own if I can get her to continue sleeping in the bouncy chair.

FiRaffe · 18/05/2015 11:38

I miss sleep!!! Ah well, this is the trade off for having a little boy asleep in my arms.

Baby group this afternoon, but the weather is revolting. I guess i'll wrap us up and go for a walk still.

Hope you're all having good days

PenguinPoser · 18/05/2015 11:58

I've finally been to buy the swim nappies for water babies this afternoon. DD is snoozing still in her pram. I should be grabbing a nap given the rubbish night we had but the cat has taken up residence on my legs and I'm not in a comfy position to nap. Plus pretty sure dd will wake up soon for a feed. I'm watching call the midwife again Smile

FiRaffe · 18/05/2015 12:58

Good news on the nappies. I need to look at groups for swimming but it feels like our week is full at the mo!

I'm watching The Fault in our Stars. Not sure red eyes is a good look for baby group!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2015 14:02

My two mindees are sleeping and ds3 is feeding so I'm watching doctors with a cuppa and a digestive. Glad you can get smaller swim nappies now, struggled with ds1&2. I've bought a suit but smallest was 3-6 months so hoping it fits when it arrives. Why not go at the weekend FiRaffe with your oh?

One is 10 months and he has a cuddle with bottle and his muslin and I then put him down. The other is 2 and a bit and he fell asleep in the pushchair today but normally we just go upstairs and I put him in the travel cot awake with his pooh bear. I think it's always easier with someone else's children. I was very lucky with ds1&2 because they both liked their sleep and even once they were in a bed were happy to stay there. I find it stressful around the time they all sleep as I need the ones that aren't sleeping to be happy so as not to disturb them. Last week I sat in the middle of the sofa with ds3 on his tummy being patted on the bum while I cuddled mindee having already put the eldest in the travel cot, thankfully all worked well!l

Lauren82000 · 18/05/2015 17:19

I think it's anyone that isn't mummy or daddy have an easy time of getting your children to sleep. We always struggled with DD1 and I had to feed her to sleep but once she started nursery she was fine just going down for a nap for them no worries. Then when she got bigger and stayed over at my mums she went down fine again when my mum said close your eyes. We had to sit in the room with her till she fell asleep. Still have to do that sometimes now and she is 4 on Saturday! I think it goes back to they are little shits at home for you yet they are little angels for anyone else, so everyone thinks butter wouldn't melt. Confused
