The only sign of dehydration I know of is the fontanelle being depressed but I don't know how severe it has to be for that to happen. I would expect she's fine though, you're worrying I think Wink

What cinnamon said plus if you pinch the skin on the back of the hand it will take ages to go back to flat. I'd imagine a dry parched mouth but that might just be adults.

DS squeaking and grouching and crying away. Probably wants more bitty. It's his sole reason for existing today! I'll be a shrivelled husk at this rate lol.

smogsville · 15/05/2015 17:33

Lauren I thought whole point of breast milk was that it adapted to temperature/ climate to ensure it was watery enough when it needed to be/ richer in colder weather? Or is that made up?

Cinnamon we were up from 145-3/4am last night. It was weird he just wouldn't settle and the time just races by in the small hours doesn't it. I feel ok but I imagine DH is probably knackered, oh well.

TFIF. What's everyone having to eat tonight? Unimaginative chicken kievs onion rings and chips and veggies at this end. I wandered around waitrose trying and failing to feel inspired.

brummagem · 15/05/2015 17:51

Oooh smog I don't know. My appetite has vanished recently so probably whatever the DH cooks Grin I imagine something with vegetables as been told to eat loads by hospital.

Just got back from a lovely day on the allotment. DS jaundice looks much better now. He's done 2 massive exploding pooy farts in 2 mins he doesn't seem to do anything other than that but as mw isn't bothered I'm not going to stress though how you tell difference between those and diahorrea is anyone's guess. I suppose feeding so often has pushed extra gas through.

His legs have started lengthening more now. My little man is growing up already Smile

I had left over chilli with chips. Was pretty tasty but that kind of thing does get better with age like spag Bol.

Feel pretty bad DH was going out tonight but I had a bit of a brain fart about DDs cold. If her temp spikes I'd have no way to get to the urgent care out of hours as he would take the car and be a half hour drive away. So I mentioned it when he was getting ready and then he was all why didn't you say something before. I genuinely hadn't thought anything of him going out. He moaned a bit that it seemed like he was making excuses to his friends last minute but he was happy to stay home with us. Smile I do feel bad as I grabbed my tea before and he hasn't had anything. Oops. Might say to him order pizza and I'll eat some of that too I'm still peckish. Shock

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 15/05/2015 19:22

We've got breaded fish, jacket potatoes and veg here.

Hope everyone has had a good day?

DD has been really grizzly today. Have had to add in a formula feed as she's not gained very much weight (5 oz at 4weeks) but she keeps crying after it and will only settle on the boob after she's full, meaning I fill her with her bottle and then bung her on the boob to settle her. It's fine for now but how will I ever leave her? I'm going back to work for a few days fairly soon and will be leaving her with DH but no idea how he'll manage!! Sorry, just a moan!!

Lauren82000 · 15/05/2015 19:49

Littlegreycat it's surprising how easily they adapt. You may or may not have strong feelings about dummies but it might be worth having an emergency one if you LO likes to suck following a feed. Even if it's not too effective at least your OH will feel like he has another option for settling. The car or pram work quite well too.

PenguinPoser · 15/05/2015 19:51

We are having a Pizza Hut takeaway BlushGrin just ordered so can't wait now I'm starving!

Have had quite a busy day with bits and bobs. The feeding clinic were really happy with dd's feeding after her tt snip. She's still got room for improvement but seems we are heading in the right direction. There was a little baby at the clinic just over 6lb and she looked so tiny! Bigger than dd was at birth though and it made me realise how much she has grown now!

Aw littlegreycat that will be tough leaving her. When are you back at work? I'm sure she will get there with her weight gain. We were off to a very slow start too but got there in the end!

Lauren I think your breastmilk does adapt and it's all they need regardless of the weather. My understanding is that if they are thirsty they will just take more milk.

Watching call the midwife and waiting for my pizza.... While dd snoozes on DHs chest Smile bliss at present. I will reassess that at 1am when she decides it's time to get up...

Lauren82000 · 15/05/2015 20:21

DH wanted KFC I'm now munching on a toasted twister Blush DD has fed pretty much constantly for 2 hours though so I'm blaming that on having a second tea.

smogsville · 15/05/2015 21:03

Have eaten a completely appalling quantity of choc again, oh dear. Poor DS is going to get diabetes at this rate. I think I was feeling cross about not being able to have more than a tiny bit of Friday wine and took it out on the treat box.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 15/05/2015 23:55

Have tried a dummy Lauren. She was on with it until she started on formula yesterday and now it seems it's not as good as a bottle so she's rejecting it!

Penguin I think I'm working 1st June for a few hours, and again oon the 18th. I teach so doing exam prep sessions. then a couple of days in July before full time in September. We've got plenty of time till then but June 1St seems very close and scary!! Might just have to pull out of them which would be a shame but baby beats work every time!! Smile She finally settled at 11 after a constant feed and cry cycle since 3. Fingers crossed she stays asleep for a few hours! And that you all get some decent sleep too!!!

Lauren82000 · 16/05/2015 02:02

Got over 3 hours with her in the bouncy chair. Can't be good for her posture but if it's the only way she will sleep on her back then so be it. Will have to introduce tummy time during the day to compensate. I feel rather refreshed with the block of sleep to be honest. Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 16/05/2015 03:03

Some are softer than others Lauren82000, and I'm sure a few hours won't damage her Smile you have to sleep!

We had fish and chips for tea, took some round to my mums. My stepdad is better in himself but he is apparently very sore and he said it shook him up (unsurprisingly!), his face looks terrible though Sad

I was so tired yesterday! Ds2 came up tonight (I think) and it's just a fog! I guess it will get worse before it gets better, accumulation of tiredness. I feel so much older this time around!

Wineandchoccy · 16/05/2015 04:09

cinnamon I'm glad your stepdad is feeling a bit better. I hope you manage to catch up on some sleep this weekend.

lauren dd has slept in that rocker that I linked to because she wouldn't settle in her crib but she has only just woke for a feed after nearly 4 hours.

I'm still tired though even having a block of sleep but didn't get chance to rest yesterday because we had loads of visitors, I think that's why she was unsettled because she was passed around everyone then wouldn't be put down.

Lauren82000 · 16/05/2015 04:55

Nearly another3 hours. This bouncer is a amazing! Still need to work on putting her back in the crib. She doesn't seem as snotty either.

Quick question though, when are the night sweats supposed to stop? I'm fed up of waking up cold and damp.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/05/2015 05:26

I'm still getting them at 5 weeks Lauren82000.

brummagem · 16/05/2015 06:47

DS after nursing every hour for 16 hrs or so finally fell asleep. He had his formula feed while I had my usual nap. Woke up at 2am fed him again. Since 3am he's slept through. Boobs now exploding with milk while baby is asleep. You asked for it it's now here and you're asleep lol.

Hope you all got a few hours in!

cinnamongreyhound · 16/05/2015 10:24

Sam did that to me a couple of weeks ago brummagem! Fed and fed and fed and then slept 9pm-3am and I couldn't sleep the last couple of hours as my boobs were too uncomfortable! Hope he's awake to relieve them by now Smile

FiRaffe · 16/05/2015 10:48

Glad your stepdad is okay cinnamon.

I know the exploding boob feeling.... It was the day after DS had spent two as increasing my supply. ....god that hurt!

I really want chocolate.... This dairy/soya free diet is boring. The one time you can eat cake and not feel guilty.... hmm! Going to have to make a dairy free cake for mil's birthday next week as she is coming to visit again.... I think it will be chocolate!!!!

Has anyone had any experience where it feels like their boobs are bruised? I think DS may have started chomping with his gums but no idea how to fix that or what to do. It's so painful i'll go to the breastfeeding café on Monday but it feels ages away when he's feeding every hour and a half!

PenguinPoser · 16/05/2015 11:26

Brummagem did you get my message on FB about joining the group?

Ah Fi I don't know how you're surviving the dairy free diet - well done! I've previously had some lovely chocolate cake made by a friend that was wheat and dairy free so there are some good recipes out there Smile

Lauren not sure about the night sweats - I'm not having many now and have put the occasional one down to the room being too warm. Pleased you got some sleep though.

My boobs have gone a bit crazy too I think my supply is increasing since the tt snip and I was full and soaked during the night despite feeding at 1am and 4am!

brummagem · 16/05/2015 12:39

I've attached my profile pic as nothing has come through on fb or messanger which is odd. I'll try logging on using DH laptop later.

I don't get cold sweats but I do feel the cold much more than normal. Hope it all sorts itself out soon.

Fi dairy free is really hard. Well done for sticking at it so well.

Basically Brummagem I can't add you on Facebook to add you to the group because your privacy settings don't allow friend requests from people who you don't have any mutual friends with (mine were the same). I've changed mine so you can friend request me then I can add you - then we can unfriend. Will pm you my real name now.

PenguinPoser · 16/05/2015 14:31

I did find you on FB just couldn't add you.
