Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kismac · 11/05/2015 18:55

There's one centre that you can drive to and does drop in and the other centre is in city which would mean public transport and they run it on an appointment only system, so we opted for drop in since Im still not very mobile. It was nice getting out for a drive. Felt a bit more normal than being constantly stuck in the house.

brummagem · 11/05/2015 19:07

That's really good news Cinnamon. So pleased things are looking better for Sam. He sounds adorable.

Well done kismac! Another hurdle ticked off. Flowers

Ted is still unsettled. Had a proper trapped wind crying fit when tried to put him down today. He slept for 4 hrs in car seat but he doesn't sleep in blocks so he gets sleep while on boob or being cuddled. I don’t want to leave him crying so I put him on a massive sofa cushion to see if he'd settle which he did for 5 mins then spent 20 mins on & off crying about trapped wind. He's back on boob now all eyes closed and tickling sucks rather than hardcore sucking.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 11/05/2015 20:21

I know the feeling Brum - Tilly's been up/asleep on us/in the car so sleeping all day, and she's been down in her basket for no more than 7 mins and she's up!! It's a good job they're cute isn't it?! She spent all day yesterday screaming - we had lots of visitors and now she's big enough to take people in I think it really unsettled her. At least she's been less upset today!

Lauren82000 · 12/05/2015 01:27

Been up and down like a yoyo since 12. Silly baby doesn't know what she wants. A nibble, a cuddle, new nappy. I pick her up when she's grizzling and she falls asleep on my shoulder. No feed or anything. What's that all about?

PenguinPoser · 12/05/2015 01:37

Ahh Lauren so frustrating Sad can you persuade her to have a decent feed and then sleep for a couple of hours?

I was so tired that the second I got dd down at 9pm I shut my eyes on the sofa and was out like a light. Was so hard to wake up and come up to bed about 11. Thankfully managed not to wake her and she went until 1am but my eyes are still closing... Wasn't helped by the mammoth cluster feeding lasting most of yesterday.

Lauren82000 · 12/05/2015 01:41

Tried that penguin she just keeps coming off the boob and staring at me then she nods off when I'm winding her. Like now she is currently snoozing on my shoulder, but if I put her down I'll be up again within 10 mins Hmm and yes my eyes are closing too.

kismac · 12/05/2015 02:45

Damn it. We're back to 2 hourly feeds. Why the hell didn't I sleep earlier when she slept for 3 hours instead of watching crappy telly.

FiRaffe · 12/05/2015 02:54

It's really hard getting into that habit kismac. Just try when you can and don't feel bad if you want to go to bed at 8pm if that's when baby has dropped off! (I have, several times, although tended to watch crap TV for a bit in bed)

DS woke up scary screaming at 2.... no idea what was up, but definitely not his normal i'm hungry cry. Was really scary but seem to have calmed him with a new nappy and food.

Hope you all have a good night from here in. I would really suggest trying swaddling if your lo won't go down, even just with a big muslin is fine, it has made a huge difference to us.

Wineandchoccy · 12/05/2015 05:36

I love gripe water Grinused it for the first time last night as dd was 1 month old yesterday and colicky crying was pretty much non existent after use and she has slept peacefully in her crib and now I'm awake before her, do I wake her to feed or do I go back to sleep?

lauren I warm a blanket by putting it behind me whilst I am feeding then lie dd on it so the cold crib doesn't wake her when I put her in it.

kismac I'm rubbish at having a daytime nap once dd goes to sleep I think oh I will just eat, clean up, put the washing on etc and before I know it she is awake again but the days I have managed a nap I do feel so much betteR.

FiRaffe that sounds scary hope he has slept since.

Wineandchoccy · 12/05/2015 05:38

Sorry I forgot to say I'm glad things are looking ok with Sams results cinnamon good luck for Thursday

cinnamongreyhound · 12/05/2015 06:32

Sam is like that in the mornings Lauren82000, he's not hungry just wants to go back to sleep but as soon as I put him down he's awake. Luckily he seems to stay asleep once he's fed to sleep during the night. Although initially he was the same at night too. Just keep trying to put her down when she's asleep. I found the white noise app that someone recommended helps him stay asleep when he's in very light sleep.

I didn't post last night after my sleepy post yesterday!! I was looking at my phone while up feeding and actually dropped it on Sam! I find I can't stay awake for more than a couple of minutes during night feeds now at all! It doesn't help if he then drifts off and isn't getting a decent feed but I'm too asleep to give him a nudge! Means that I'm up longer too.

Hope you went back to sleep wineandchoccy!

PenguinPoser · 12/05/2015 08:17

Wineandchoccy I love gripe water too. Might have been coincidence but I gave dd some in the night when she wasn't settling after her feed, she burped threw up a bit then slept another 3 hours :) I decided then it was too close to getting up time so brought her into bed for a feed and cuddle. She's snoozing again now since DH cuddled her before going to work. Might quickly get the washing up done then need to get her fed hopefully as I want to go and get her weighed this morning and the clinic finishes at half 10!

smogsville · 12/05/2015 10:58

Cinnamon wishing you well for next test results.

Kismac great news on your first public BF, there will be no stopping you now!

quiet couple of days here. DS is v easy at the moment. Goes back into basket with minimal fuss and sleeps a lot at night. I worry slightly that he is quite quiet and we might not hear him and I am also slightly concerned about the amount of time he feeds for (5-7 mins isn't unusual) but thus far he's been fine at all weigh ins so I will take him on Monday and provided he's gaining enough I will try to chill out a bit.

DD by contrast is taking the piss quite royally. won't go to bed, keeps coming downstairs well after 8/830 asking to be carried back to bed ad so on. Classic babying behaviour but not much fun when she wont get up in the morning until gone 8am bc she's so tired!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/05/2015 13:00

My friends dd rarely fed more than 5 mins smogsville. Hv kept telling her to put her back but she wouldn't feed any longer and gained weight very well, just super efficient!

PenguinPoser · 12/05/2015 14:15

Wow 5 min feeds would be amazing! I would probably worry she wasn't getting enough though. Oh dear about your dd smogs... Don't have any advice but hope it doesn't last long.

Baby clinic this morning - dd weighs in at 8lb3oz at 8 weeks 3 days old!! I'm really pleased because she's following her centile and that's 1oz per day since she was last weighed. Bought her some lovely clothes from tesco to celebrate and myself some biscuits and a galaxy caramel... Because I need to keep making high calorie milk Wink

Lauren82000 · 12/05/2015 14:41

I find DD has pretty quick feeds so nice to hear someone else has them too. I've got a pretty fast let down and she gulps it really fast then comes off burp then back on then off again. Swap sides and 7 times out of 10 she doesn't want that side. But she may want a quick nibble half an hour later. Wink

Wineandchoccy · 12/05/2015 15:26

I was going to go a baby massage class today but dd decided to fall asleep after her bath so I am led on the sofa watching daytime TV having a cup of tea and biscuits.
It's cold and windy here today so it's a good day to do absolutely nothing Smile

smogsville · 12/05/2015 16:00

That's good to hear Lauren and cinnamon, thanks. DD used to feed for ages (from memory) but maybe he's just better at it. Will go to clinic on Monday for weigh in in any case. He had a feed at 330 for just ten mins after a four hour gap and is now fast asleep again but he's pooing and weeing copiously so hopefully all is well.

Penguin thanks for your sympathies!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/05/2015 16:46

Sounds like a perfect day wineandchoccy! Baby massage is good though, I went to classes with ds1 and by the end of the 6 weeks he seemed to know what was coming and would let me massage his whole body. I didn't do all off it afterwards but certain bits were definitely useful Smile

Yay great news on weight gain PenguinPoser!

Wineandchoccy · 12/05/2015 17:27

My Mum came round this afternoon so I nipped to the supermarket without dd I felt lost without her, it was like supermarket sweep in my rush to get back to her and obviously she had no idea I had gone anywhere Blush

brummagem · 12/05/2015 19:02

Can anyone add to the FB grp? Would be lovely to see how everyone is getting on.

Ooh wine I bet that was hard. Fair play for doing it though. I hyperventilate at DH giving DS formula for 2 night feeds and pushing the pram let alone leaving DS anywhere!

Glad baby is doing well penguin love the date matching weight.

Smogs if he's filling nappies surely that's a good sign? I know bugger all about babies but if was hungry would surely cry for more?

Jetpackplease · 12/05/2015 19:09

Another one here with generally fast feeds - sometimes barely 5 mins. I also have a fast let down and flow. When he falls asleep at the boob it's impossible to wake him and get him to feed more. He's been v fussy last couple of days though - small feeds and then short cat naps all day. His temperature is fine and lots of wet nappies, so he seems ok but it's v unlike his usual behaviour. He's also been super squirmy and so I guess windy.

Wine I popped out to vote last week while ds stayed at home with dh - it was so strange to be out without a baby attached to me or not heavily pregnant!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/05/2015 20:25

I think if you pm anyone who's a member with your name we can friend request you and then add you and then unfriend. Ive not done it but I'll give it a go brummagem Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 12/05/2015 20:28

I've left Sam a couple of times with dh to pop to Tesco and I've started running again last week so I've left him for an hour at a time (to get to meet friends and run not running for an hour). It's getting easier and I was quite excited about going tonight. Dh knows what he's doing Confused

smogsville · 12/05/2015 20:41

Yes well done Penguin that's excellent news. And you're right about the chocolate of course I have been mainlining it this evening.

Brum you're obviously right it's just that DS seems to be a different sort of feeder to DD and I am a born worrywart. It's good to hear from other people with quick feeders - hi Jetpack! - as otherwise you think it's just your baby.

Having said all that he's been feeding loads this evening. Hence the chocs.
