Mine were both exactly 16 weeks when I got mine smogsville, I assumed with ds1 it's because he was going through the night from 12 weeks but started the same time with ds2 as well. The midwife told me you were fertile again from 3 weeks so does sound a bit early. One of my old customers was born in September and her brother the following August so they were in the same school year, guess it does happen!

brummagem · 10/05/2015 20:20

Eek smogs. I've not even considered anything like that yet. I have no idea if you can get them this quickly so can't really advise.

DS has spent the entire afternoon pretty much on breast. When he unlatches he cries and sucks at his mittens :/ not slept in 20 hours and have the night shift coming up soon :( I really want to enjoy motherhood but feel like it's passing me by atm.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/05/2015 20:27

It does get easier brummagem, I had a terrible night the last two and I'm so tired! I have been ok until about 4.30 then I've crashed and been very emotional. We went for a lovely walk in the forest this afternoon and Sam dozed off the whole time in the sling so had a break from grizzles and/or feeding. Something like that may help you not feel quite so much like you're constantly in demand. I had my first smile from Sam today and it made me feel it was all worth it! Hope you have a good night as little sleep goes a long way Flowers

PenguinPoser · 10/05/2015 20:53

Smogs it does seem a little early for a period but I guess it's possible! I don't want one yet as my lochia has just nicely stopped last few days!

Brummagem as cinnamon said it does get easier. The first 2 weeks I didn't cope at all with lack of sleep. I didn't want to feed her at night and it was so so difficult. Since then - yes I'm still tired but some days are better than others. I can generally cope better with the night feeds (after a fashion!) and I never thought I would. I know it's what everyone says but honestly if you can manage a nap during the day at some point to does help too. I know it's hard when baby is constantly cluster feeding but again that will improve. I still have bad days but it's not like at the start where every day was like that. Keep up the Cake and Brew and let others look after you.

smogsville · 10/05/2015 21:35

Brum how many days along are you now? I second what Penguin says about naps if possible. As soon as the baby dozes fling yourself at a horizontal surface and make like a dead lion.

Thanks for comments re period no period. Maybe it isn't but it defo feels different to lochia! Ah the joys...

FiRaffe · 10/05/2015 22:22

Oh fun smogs! Just what you need.

Hope you get some sleep brum.

Off to a new baby group tomorrow pm the hv called me up about. Am quite low so thought it would be good to get out and hopefully get some extra support. They are doing baby footprints as well so that should be fun.

Hope everyone has a good night

Wineandchoccy · 10/05/2015 22:52

DH is back to work tomorrow after being off for a month, I am planning on going to a breastfeeding group in the afternoon. Tuesday I am going to 1st baby massage group, Dd has hospital appt on Wed for tongue tie to be sorted plus HV in the afternoon. So it's a busy week but I do feel a bit nervous about going to the groups for the first time which is daft because everyone has been the newbie once.

I hope everyone has a good night Smile

Lauren82000 · 11/05/2015 00:42

My eyes are closingConfused DD won't let me put her down yet but I'm going to have to try... Almost nodded off whilst typing then. Had my finger on the G so had to delete a row of ggggg. Please go down this time!

FiRaffe · 11/05/2015 01:54

Good luck Wine and happy 1 month!

Hope you've got some sleep now Lauren.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2015 02:28

I'm constantly dozing off at the at the moment Lauren8200 she started earlier and had a large coat. She feels closer to her mum so or gaps tonight for a but really hope your night inptovrsd

kismac · 11/05/2015 03:13

She has just slept from 10.30pm -2.30am, so needless to say she'll now be attached for hours now.

Enjoy the groups Fi and Wine. Can't wait till we're able to venture out.

Lauren82000 · 11/05/2015 03:45

I woke DH up in the end and plonked her on him. I knew the instant he put her down. All I heard was her grumbling and clearing her throat. I swear I have the most phlegmy baby in the world she sounds like a pony when she does it. (Only really bad when on her back) been up for 45mins now. She's had 1 boob and fallen asleep on my lap should really do her bum and offer the other side button feeling lazy and it's lovely and quiet enjoying the peace. Smile

PenguinPoser · 11/05/2015 04:01

Ah Lauren hope you manage to get her down and catch another few hours sleep. Same goes for everyone else.

Fi the group sounds good. Sorry you're feeling a bit low BrewFlowers you're doing amazingly at what is undoubtedly the hardest job there is. Hope there are some lovely ladies there to support you.

Wineandchoccy good luck for first day flying solo. You get used to it but I admit come the middle of the afternoons I can't wait for DH to get home. Snap we have tongue tie appt on wed too. Due to that and imms DH has taken all day Wednesday off plus Thursday morning so that will be nice.

Yay for the chunk of sleep Kismac Smile. I've had a little success here too put dd back in snuzpod for first time in weeks and she slept 11.30-3.30ish (that was after a mammoth feed too!) so fingers crossed she can start sleeping in there again now. It's not attached to my bed anymore though - I felt a bit claustrophobic with it and I think dd the opposite- too exposed with the side down. So she's just off to the side of my bed - still close though that I can set Ewan sheep off! Hoping to get back to bed in a bit...

Ps cinnamon you sounded sleepy in last post WinkBrew

brummagem · 11/05/2015 04:14

Had some lovely skin to skin and a 30 min kip so far. DS is asleep in as with his mouth wide open. His mouth feels and sounds a bit dry though. had him virtually constantly on boobs apart from a 3.5hr spell between 8.30 and 11.30pm when DH gave him 60ml formula.

Thank you for all your advice and support it's been awesome!

Wine I'm not looking forward to DH returning to work. I've really enjoyed us being a family this first week. I imagine I'll be the same venturing to groups etc. I hope they're worth the visits!

Oh my goodness what load of rubbish I posted, sorry!! Yes PenguinPoser think I was! It was trying to say was that he'd had more feeds yesterday evening and so I hoped for a better night! Which we had up at 2 and just about to put him back now Smile

Lauren82000 · 11/05/2015 09:38

Ugh DH's 'I don't wanna's' started yesterday. He had the dentist this morning so he didn't want to go plus it's his birthday. Now this morning he moaned that he didn't want to go to work tomorrow. Hmm I feel pretty bad his birthday kind of snuck up on me and I just about managed to get him a card and present from the kids. I didn't get him anything yet not even a card. Blush We are going to town today so I'll treat him to something nice before we go register DD2.

FiRaffe · 11/05/2015 09:50

Don't beat yourself up Lauren. You're doing a full time job!!!!

Having a nice cuddle at the moment then really need to get up. MIL arrives at lunchtime for a couple of days to give me a hand.... she's bringing food and we get on okay, so will be nice for her to spend some time with DS.

kismac · 11/05/2015 10:50

Lauren, I wouldn't worry about being a bit forgetful about your DH birthday. You've got a lot going on. I hope you manage to have a nice day together.

Fi, my MIL was up for the weekend and I was a bit anxious about it but it was a great help. The dishes and washing are all done thanks to her.

Lauren82000 · 11/05/2015 11:19

Well I really should have been more organised, last year he was 30 and I started miscarrying on the same day. Not exactly a great birthday for him. Sad I did say to him I've given him a great early present this year and he agreed. Smile

PenguinPoser · 11/05/2015 12:59

Pleased you're getting some help for a couple of days FiRaffe- as long as she looks after you well!

Lauren don't worry - of course you've given him the best present ever already! Sorry to hear about last year - how awful Sad. Hope you have a nice day to celebrate - quality time is so much more important than presents.

I'm having a quiet day today no plans to go out. Could go for a walk later if I feel like it. DD napping so I'm having lunch and if she stays asleep might catch a quick nap myself... She had me up almost constantly from half 3 this morning!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2015 13:33

Hope you get your nap PenguinPoser!

Order something lovely online Lauren82000 and surprise him. Hope youve had a lovely day together and a trip out all together will be a nice birthday treat, although I don't think men see things like that the same as we do.

Sams sodium levels are slightly below normal 133 when normal range is 135-145 so he's having a supplement and back Thursday to check it hasn't gone too high. Urine is normal so he's not weeing too much out which is good. The blood they took Saturday should give a better idea of the reason. Was just a heel prick this time and will be Thursday so not quite as bad! Been waiting in pharmacy for 20 mins so far Sad. My minded little boy has been so good!

kismac · 11/05/2015 16:32

Good luck for Thursday, Cinnamon. Those results are sounding good though.

Had to breastfeed in public for first time today. Took Leah to get her registered and she decided she wanted fed for over an hour! Made good use of the 2 hour wait. There was a couple of people but don't think they minded me flashing.

PenguinPoser · 11/05/2015 16:41

Well done kismac :) wow a 2 hour wait Shock we had to have an appointment so waited 5 weeks but then at least no waiting on the day!

Sounds like things are ok cinnamon although shame he needs the supplements and yet more bloods. At least it wasn't loads of vials today.

Didn't get my nap Sad flagging now. Went for a walk and almost got blown away! Was good exercise though. I'm going to try and eat a little better and exercise a bit now. I've got a few pounds to lose!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2015 18:00

We had an appointment too so no wait for registering kismac but well done on your feeding.

Really hoping that if all is ok Thursday we can stay away from the hospital until our appointment with the nephrologist in June!
