I think the feeding all the time to soothe her refluxy throat has coincided with a catchup growth spurt, she's put on 300g in a week, that's about 10oz Grin

willywallace · 17/03/2015 10:23

Does he usually sleep whilst out Popz? Is it just a cut or colour too? Can you walk with the buggy for ten minutes before going in to get him off to sleep?

laurenamium · 17/03/2015 10:24

Sad Brew For all those with sleepless nights! popz is it the kind of place where they won't mind baby noise or is it a really posh one? I took DD to a posh one when she was tiny and regretted it. But then changed hairdressers because I was ashamed to go back and now she knows all of the stylists by name, gets lollies and sweets and if anyone is free they read her stories Smile

Isaac had his hearing test today and they can't get a reading at all from his left ear, so he has an audiology appointment after he's allowed home. I'm praying its nothing serious and very grateful he can hear ok out of his right ear!

Minion · 17/03/2015 10:37

wil, no she came off it after talking to paced, she's not writhing, just waking every 1.5-2.5 hours. Think it may be growth spurt related, sleep regression and all that.
lauren fingers crossed it's all ok and normal reading in the other ear too.

RPopz · 17/03/2015 11:27

Cut and colour... Its a bit of a trendy salon but my hairdresser isn't - she just moved there after her other salon shut down. He usually sleeps ok in the pram so fingers crossed! Confused

Lauren - when Isaacpopz had his ear test done the mw said it was pretty normal to not get a reading straight away as their ears are still full of gunk from the birth. Hopefully that's all it is x

RPopz · 17/03/2015 11:28

Ace news on the weight gain Zy ... Its always good to know you're getting somewhere with all that bloody cluster feeding! Grin

willywallace · 17/03/2015 14:54

That's brilliant zyla.

Fx it's just a temporary thing Lauren and that it's all fine on the re-test.

Why did they take her off it Min? I'm not sure it's doing anything.

Minion · 17/03/2015 15:49

The Paed want sure she had reflux and there's not much difference with her on it, than off it tbh.
Oh god I'm on bed duty all by myself tonight. Eeek

laurenamium · 17/03/2015 16:17

Good luck popz!

Excellent work zyla that's an amazing weight gain!

Today is a bad news day, Isaac isn't coming home tomorrow and they're on about putting a tube back in as he's so sleepy and taking a long time to eat. It feels like such a huge backwards step but I know it's for the best in the long run! That'll teach me for getting my hopes up!

ZylaB · 17/03/2015 17:10

lauren don't worry they'll get him sorted and home to you all awake and hungry soon! hugs it must be hard and you sound like you're dealing with it really well. Flowers

willywallace · 17/03/2015 17:29

Ha good luck Min. Mm yeah. Think I may ask for referral after all.

So sorry to hear that Lauren.

RPopz · 17/03/2015 18:12

Aw Lauren. You were bound to get your hopes up. He's in the best place for now xx Thanks

I went! Took frigging forever. Minipopz was pretty well behaved considering. Only needed one boob break! He's been in the car seat for aaages though. Oops.

JuniDD · 17/03/2015 19:58

Sorry you're not heading home soon lauren, it's so pants. Hope the travelling and looking after DD is ok after your section etc.

Well, nearly 5 months and we seem to finally be back to one night waking. I am very pleased! This is a fabulous age, I"m enjoying her so much.

A bit jealous of your haircut popz, haven't had mine done since May last year...!

I think the key to getting a teething baby to sleep better is to give him nurofen! And not forget as you will suffer!

Minion · 17/03/2015 20:35

Husband came back early which was much needed as this one, one again got over stimulated and screamed her head off.
We're both finding this quite hard, the newborn stage. I'm wondering if we have a generally moody child.

I try my hardest to entertain her and chat to her etc, I know when she wants to be left alone, know to put her down at the first yawn or a bf occurs, yet she still doesn't seem happy.
I feel like it's me. the smiles help but she can quickly go from big grin to screaming in seconds.
Literally, seconds.
II've apologised to people for get screams, she doesn't whimper like some do, just goes full on screaming.
What the hell am I doing wrong?

Lauren so sorry to hear this, but our Paed said they may have had to do same to R, but not too worry, they almost can't feel it and it's quick and the best way to pack that weight on. It's more awful for us isn't it.

willywallace · 17/03/2015 22:09

Min I could have written your post myself. I really think hope it's not us and it's just their nature plus a few other things that are bad luck such as reflux, allergies or whatever. I don't seem to make laidback babies. You should hopefully be turning a corner soon now she's at the three month mark.

I'd alternate the calpol and neurofen Cookie so you can give it more often. Good luck, teething ain't fun!

Fingers crossed for a good night for all.

ZylaB · 17/03/2015 22:41

Can I third the suddenly screaming daughter? Though she's a bit quieter since our first proper Poona,I! Why did that happen when DH wasn't here?!

ZylaB · 17/03/2015 22:42

*poonami

cookielove · 18/03/2015 00:30

will I'd it every two hrs alternate?

He is full if cold again argh!!!!

willywallace · 18/03/2015 02:24

Think neurofen might be three times in 24 hours and calpol is four times? Can't remember. Some people swear by those ashton and parsons teething powders. I never found they did a thing but lots of people like them.

Zyla, MiniWil has just woken up with a poo incident. Am very glad I'm feeding so I could send MrWil in Grin .

Eek Juni you'll be weaning soon! Time has gone so quick!

ZylaB · 18/03/2015 02:32

I'm so jealous of those parents of newborns who complain that they only get one or two hours sleep at a time, but get it a few times a night. I can only dream of that much sleep...scream, scream, scream...

laurenamium · 18/03/2015 06:36

Morning viroids! Sorry to this getting no sleep Sad

Isaac lost weight again at his midnight weigh in and has been tube fed every other feed over night Sad trying not to spend another day crying! I just feel useless and like I can't do anything for him. My milk isn't helping him put on weight and that's the ONLY useful thing I've been able to do since he's been born. I feel guilty too that he's here so early in the first place. I keep trying to think about what I could have done differently to stop my waters going. God I need to get a grip

willywallace · 18/03/2015 07:19

Lauren, you know none of this is your fault. It's just what happens sometimes. It's not like you spent your pregnancy chucking back cans of Tennants and lighting up B&Hs (do they still exist? It's a long time since I was at high school...). Surely all bf babies lose weight after they're born? If it makes you feel better - mine is hardly putting on any weight and she's two months old - and that really is my fault for not feeding her enough. You can only do what the doctors advise. He'll get there. How's DD?

Sorry she's still screamy zyla. Might take a while for the gaviscon to work?

I gave up at half four after an hour of squirming and let her sleep on top of me so at least I could catnap. Got to trail through to the hospital today.

laurenamium · 18/03/2015 07:24

Thanks wil! I need to get a grip! He was expected to lose weight in the first week - which he did, but he's lost more again and they were expecting a gain. Is there anything I can be eating that would give my milk more calories?

Minion · 18/03/2015 07:41

wil I reckon you'll come home with a tin of neocate.
Push for it, seriously. Tell them it's less expensive in the long run, giving you a tin to try, than trying out multiple formula, meds etc x
