Welcome back bang did you sort out the milk issue you was having? Glad you're enjoying your LO Smile

freneticfox · 05/03/2015 17:31

I feel like a zombie at the moment... Any tips on settling a baby that refuses to sleep between 4am-8am??

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 05/03/2015 18:48

DD is finally back to birth weight 3weeks in.

Feeling really down. SPD/PGP is as bad as ever. Osteopath is achieving nothing. I'm scared its never going to go away and I can't be a proper mom. Its not fair. Having children shouldn't leave any one disabled. DS has suffered the consequences of my PGP far too long as it is and I can't stand the idea that's going to carry on and now DD is going to suffer because of it too.

BanglesSpangles · 05/03/2015 18:52

Three changes of wet clothes later and we're trying the next size up of nappy- so far so good!

freneticfox · 05/03/2015 19:10

WhyO - I'm so sorry you're still suffering :( Now you're no longer pg, are you able to take stronger painkillers at all?

Really hope it clears up for you soon x

BanglesSpangles · 05/03/2015 19:11

Oh why that sounds so rubbish :( is there any improvement at all? I dont know much about pgp-does it take a while to recover from?

Memphisbelly · 05/03/2015 19:28

WhyO i really hope they can sort you out asap Sad

Bangles....didn't even think about going up a size because mine is still being buried by size ones eventhough he is 10 pound now.

Hv came today there is concerns for LO as he is so rattly they considered sending him back to hospital but as his cough has improved slightly but breathing is worse so he is being monitored at home, they said to see how much he is sleeping and if he drops his feeds to go in, he has been asleep for 3 hours but hasn't missed a feed, I am so worried about him he looks so pale

BanglesSpangles · 05/03/2015 19:46

memphis it is a bit weird tbh- he can only be about 8lb at the mo but hey ho, if it works it works i guess! Wondering what to do with akl the sixpze one nappies now!

BanglesSpangles · 05/03/2015 19:49

Ffs- didnt mean to press send, that's full of typos still!

Anyway, continuing...

Memphis- your poor LO- it must be horrible to see him poorly- hope he continues to improve by degrees xx

Memphisbelly · 05/03/2015 19:50

My hv said it all goes on shape she said LO looks about 7-8 pound but is 10 and has no bottom, I suppose like grown ups we are all different shapes. Maybe your LO just does mega wee's so thr bigger ones will soak more wee up?

Becca1818 · 05/03/2015 19:56

Bangles my lb was doing this it was so frustrating esp at night! Stuffing his nappy with a couple of cotton wool balls seemed to work!

freneticfox · 05/03/2015 20:52

Hope your LO is doing OK Memphis, poor little mite :(

I'm honestly starting to dread nights... It's like we have a different baby.

Bangonthedoor · 05/03/2015 21:12

Thanks littlemiss Smile

Bethany is putting on weight nicely now but is still quite sicky. Starting to consider going onto aptamil milk to see if that makes a difference.

memphis, your poor little one Sad I hope he's better soon, what made the HV come out? Did you raise a concern? . Bethany has got her first cold and it's so nasty to watch her suffer Sad her eyes are streaming and she can barely breathe to feed.

Can I ask what people do with their babies while you're putting the bigger child to bed? DD1 goes down at 7pm just as the baby is becoming grouchy. So I'm torn with either leaving baby downstairs crying while I do bed time or I bring her up with me which I don't think is very fair on DD1?

Honeybird · 05/03/2015 21:33

Bang we're really struggling with bedtime here. If it's just me and the kids I have to let the baby cry and cry while I do bath, pyjamas etc. by that time I am so stressed and have mostly taken it out on ds1 and dd1. story time is a bit better as I can put lo on the boob and breathe a sigh of relief. I don't think at this point holding the baby causes much jealousy because I'm giving them all my attention.

Memphis poor baby hope he is feeling better soon.

Bangonthedoor · 05/03/2015 21:45

Ah it's been the same here honey. When I can hear her crying and crying I start taking it out on DD1 telling her to hurry up and get into bed which is taking away her special bed time with me and I feel awful.

Memphisbelly · 05/03/2015 21:54

Bang it was my 6 week hv check today, should have been a nearly qualified student on her own but it flagged up about him being ill so the normal hv came too, coming out again next week to weigh again, also made call to gp to tell him.

Regarding bedtimes ds1 is 4.5 so he dresses himself, I sit with him while he does his teeth then baby lies on bed with him for story.....dh actually does every bedtime when he is home so I dont need to worry about it, its his special time with ds but when he is away thats our plan of action. Could you bring the bouncer up to do bedtimes when alone with both children?

For a cold so they can breath during a feed do you use saline spray or drops to clear airways? Works wonders.

Ds1 teaching assistant told me today her ds got broncilitis when he was a baby and ended up on life support for 2 weeks, scared me to death. I am just glad he relaxes when he dozes into a deep sleep the rattling subsides.

BanglesSpangles · 05/03/2015 21:54

Cotton wool balls, eh! I'll give that a go if the size twos dont work- he is quite the super-wee-er- totally soaked his socks yesterday (and my mum's carpet) when i took my eye off the ball for five seconds too long!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 05/03/2015 21:59

Poor you Memphis must be so hard to see I'm dreading LO being ill.

Frenetic nights are hard are you getting any sleep in the day?

I can't imagine how hard it is with two children to get to bed I can't even get myself ready! I'm trying to give my LO a little top up before bed which gives me just enough time to get myself ready before he stirs!

purpleteapig · 05/03/2015 22:07

Hope your little boy is better soon Memphis.

I haven't done bedtimes by myself yet but not looking forward to it, as it seems to be between 5-7pm that the baby kicks off (witching hour!) so will be stressful trying to deal with both him and the toddler.

Memphisbelly · 05/03/2015 23:38

He is all wound up tonight, its going to be a long night, got work at 6.30am! Dh leaves at 3.30am. Woke dh up an hour ago thinking LO couldn't breath.....he was bresth holding to push put the biggest poo Grin

Bangonthedoor · 06/03/2015 04:15

Ah thanks for the reminder about saline spray memphis. I'll give that a go. I've elevated the mattress a bit but we've been co sleeping so far tonight which has given us both a good stretch of sleep.

I suppose bringing baby up with me would work at bedtime, I just didn't want DD1 to feel like her time with me at the end of the day isn't as special. Although me nagging isn't making it that special either.

memphis, you're amazing being back at work already! Having to talk to people and everything Grin

freneticfox · 06/03/2015 04:42

LittleMiss - getting cat naps here and there, but only when DH is home.

I've had some sleep tonight, but earlier was vile... It took us from 10pm-1am to settle him after a feed, ended up looking round to another feed. He's just fed again at 4.10 and dropped off so I can express.

I hate wishing parts of his life away, but... Tired.

dancestomyowntune · 06/03/2015 07:49

Well my little Tiger-Rose was a little tinker yesterday! Went into SCBU to see her with my mum. My mum changed her nappy (for the first time) and chose a clean babygro for her, all good... Then nana picked her up and was settling herself into the chair when Tiger finally (after at least two weeks of trying) managed to hook her little fingers into her feeding tube and pull it out. She was so proud of herself! She was smiling and chuckling away... Until an hour later (feed time) when the nurse had to put another one down!

I am hoping that by next week she might be taking bottles well enough for it to come out permanently. She was just so cute as she was smiling (properly, not wind) and it must be uncomfortable for her. Can't say I blame her really!

GeekyHybrid · 06/03/2015 08:18

That is a very good sign dances, the more 'tinkering' the better!

Hobbit baby had a good night of feeds (did puke one up after she chugged away for 30 mons) and sleeping for a couple of hours at a time. Mummy Lancashire feels 80% human today.

Mw just been and she's back up to birth weight at only 10 days old. Greedy hobbit is on second breakfast. Shows why she has gained the weight and is back to 5 lbs 8 oz!
