Red LO had hiccups a lot in my belly and now gets them everytime wecwind him successfully

sandulacek · 02/03/2015 16:18

Oh Lancashire I hate having a cannula put in on me...not sure how I would feel about one for lo. Hope your baby is fine!

freneticfox · 02/03/2015 17:02

I've lived in the East Midlands area for nearly five years and I'm still picking up regional dialect.. I'm from Essex originally!

Got a sharp pain in my section wound this afternoon that took my breath away.. No sign of any tearing, no redness. Hoping it was a random niggle, could really do without another complication!

loopsyloup · 02/03/2015 17:23

Red - yes! My lo gets loads of hiccups but apparently they aren't even really aware of them despite what it seems. Full body spasms almost!

Frenetic - fingers crossed re your section scar. Mine occasionally still hurts (nearly a month in) but very infrequent now. Bloody midwives still won't discharge me cos of a mild infection, which just means more hours spent waiting around for them! Gah.

Memphis - it's so hard isn't it, to stay calm and chilled. It's a bit like those magic eye pictures where it feels like you have to NOT try and cross your eyes a bit in order to see the image. I feel like the more I want to be chilled out and relaxed, the more paranoid I get!! Still, worth trying.

freneticfox · 02/03/2015 17:34

Not sure when to seek help RE: section wound pain... It's been OK the last few days (the wound itself), just today I've noticed a sharp stinging pain in the incision site. Looks fine though.

Memphisbelly · 02/03/2015 17:56

Frenetic between days 5 and 9 dissolvable stitches shrink and tighten before they dissolve it could be that maybe?

dancestomyowntune · 02/03/2015 18:19

Can I join the thread? Dd3 (fifth child) born by emergency c section on feb 4th. She was ten weeks early due to me having high blood pressure that wasn't responding to medication. Dd weighed 2lb 11oz and is still in hospital, but now weighs 4lb 3oz and has just started taking bottles.

She is doing really well with her weight gain, really well with temp control and is now starting to feed (today every other feed has been through the bottle). I'm praying she will come home in the next couple of weeks.

freneticfox · 02/03/2015 18:32

Welcome, Dances and hoping you continue having good news, fingers crossed you're home soon x

Memphis, I'm on Day 18, so think I'm past that stage, but I do still have some visible stitches so it's possible I guess?

donkir · 02/03/2015 18:50

Congrats to all babies born and all the newbies.
Sorry I've been MIA but moving house with newborn is a bloody nightmare. Still surrounded by boxes and it's stressing me out.
On other news we've pretty much stopped bf and are on formula. Logan seems much happier and sleeps 5-6 hrs at the beginning of the eve. We've got a routine of bath at 7.30 then bottle at 8 in bedroom with dimmed light. He then usually sleeps from 9-2/3

dancestomyowntune · 02/03/2015 19:00

Can someone tell me how to find the fb group please? Tia

BanglesSpangles · 02/03/2015 19:02

Welcome dances- glad to hear your LO is doing well :)

Red- SO many hiccups, but we had that a lot when he was 'on the inside' too, to the point that i asked my midwife about it because he had hiccups that much, so I guess its just continuing now he's here- doesnt seem to bother him at all though

BanglesSpangles · 02/03/2015 19:08

And for facebook, pm me your real name and what you look like in your facebook photo, and look out for a friend request :)

GeekyHybrid · 02/03/2015 19:40

Welcome dances, sounds like you've been through the ringer with this one. Hope it continues positively and you get your DD home soon.

Hiccups - yep, had loads in the womb and still get them regularly now. 1st time OH was holding him when he got them he couldn't believe how strong they were. I was able to point out that I had to try sleep with him doing it Shock

The regional expressions are great. I miss hearing them, living on the south coast I don't think the vocabulary is nearly as interesting as a lot of northern areas!

Yes to hiccups as well.

My nipples are sooo sore, yet the midwife and the breast feeding counsellor say that his latch is fine, although I have to admit he is a right pain and tries to get away with a smaller mouth before properly latching. Maybe it is this brief behaviour on already sore nipples that is creating the problem? Last night I was in tears, but the feeds today gave been better. Really painful for the first bit ( mainly him messing around) and then the pain is bearable for the rest of the feed.don't want to give up yet when he is atuallyfeeding so well ( he was weighed today and has only lost 5 ozs or 120grams). But wish he would stop messing around for the first bit of every feed and just get on with it. Good thing he is totally adorable the rest of the time.

RedSal · 02/03/2015 21:14

Thanks everyone, sounds like hiccups is totally normal then !

Honeybird · 02/03/2015 21:33

Nipples slowly getting better here. A few of you have said you've had no nipple pain which made me think a bit. We've been told the latch is good, no tongue tie etc, but my nipple does come out a bit flattened. I wonder if my nipples are getting better just because she is getting bigger and can get more in her mouth.
We are in full witching hour mode here from 5pm til about 8. When I put it like that it really isn't so bad, but when I compare it to the rest of the day when she is pretty easy it is hard work. Just when I need to be doing dinner, bath and bedtime with the other 2, baby needs to be permanently attached to me.

However I'm definitely appreciating this baby more and not wishing the time away. This is the last one, my last tiny baby... Even during witching hour I'm keeping perspective. When we get to the toddler tantrums I may lose that perspective again.

Memphisbelly · 02/03/2015 21:43

Honey its the same here from 5-7 not happy at all but trying to stay positive this is my last baby and I want him to be my baby as long as I can get away with.
LO is so well behaved he really isn't well at all and when awake he struggles yet no tears or anything, got him propped up like he about to go on a space mission in his crib I hope we get a bit of sleep, the doc said the symptoms at night get lots worse and parents really struggle due to lack of sleep

dancestomyowntune · 03/03/2015 07:00

MemphisBelly my dd1 had bronchilitis when she was six weeks old and spent a night in hospital. I was distraught, but it's quite common. Hope he gets over it soon.

LittleMissSunshine is you lo quite small? My babies never seemed to like the crib at first, but would sleep in the Moses basket, so we put the Moses basket in the crib to start with.

Emmie10 · 03/03/2015 07:10

Ouch! Think I have the startings of mastitis. Have been massaging, expressing and dosing up on paracetamol to try and clear it during the night. Have woken up to a good covering of snow here which will make the nursery run interesting!

JacktheLab · 03/03/2015 07:39

Morning all,

I've been quiet too, I seem to have a minor clingon baby, most of the time she screams if I put her down anywhere, cannot get anything done!!!

Nowt much else going on, just getting through the days, last night was a particular horror, with bedtime meaning both ds and dd screaming their heads off, her because I had put her down to get ds undressed and in the bath, him cos he wanted to go back to watching tv and didn't want to go to bed. I cried....

Snow here, have to go out, it's ds' pre school injections at 9.45, think I will be incredibly lazy and drive round to the doctors, even though it's just in the village, I can't face bothering with trying to push the pram through the snow!

GeekyHybrid · 03/03/2015 09:21

grinning I've also been told latch is good but I get the 'come down' pain at the beginning and then LO gets lazy / comfort suckles and adjusts his latch towards the end so that can be painful too. Sometimes I just have to remove him but then he wakes up and decides he hadn't actually finished. Angry from both of us! So sometimes sore nips here but the majority of the feed is bearable, hopefully there's still room for improvement. Thursday is the local drop in clinic and bf support group so I'm hoping to pick up more tips.

Last night was not one of our better nights. Very unsettled, must have been in / out of the moses basket 7 or 8 times. So knackered, going to need naps today.

LancashireTea · 03/03/2015 09:36

Hopefully going home soon! I know what you mean about sore nips. One of mine looks like it's cracked and there's a bit of the tip breaking off (tmi?). Drowning it in Lanolin today.
LO is unsettled this morning. Already had 2 feeds and a bum change but won't go to sleep! Confused Maybe she can sense our impatience to go home.

Grinningcat · 03/03/2015 11:47

Better night last night although the end of the evening found me sobbing on the phone to my MIL ( my mum died 10 years ago and she is the next best thing) about breast feeding being so painful. It was day 5 and so the worst day for hormones and I don't want to make any decision regarding feeding while I'm so emotional. She has bought me a breast pump this morning so I can give my boobs a rest if necessary. LO has started to need to feed from both during each feed so neither gets a rest.

As it happens though last night's feeds were all bearable largely due I'm certain to my redistribution of my pain meds. DS also slept in his Moses basket largely without issue and I got a total of 5 hours sleep in various sized chunks. What is more amazing is that there were brief times when all 3 of us were asleep at the same time.

Memphisbelly · 03/03/2015 12:08

Lancashire hope you are home soon!

Last night was ok seeing as LO is so poorly, propped matress right up and he slept until 1.30 then 4.30, only difference was he normally wakes at 7 for a little feed then it frees me up to sort ds for school but today he wouldn't settle again, he has only just dropped off again now

GeekyHybrid · 03/03/2015 12:36

Bouncy chair is an epic fail. He hates it, especially the vibrate function. He goes from OK to tears in seconds on vibrate, he'll sit in it for a couple of minutes if we rock it and play with him but defeats the object really Confused This morning has been non stop feeding and changing again, I feel like I'm never going to get anything done Hmm
