munday have you tried socks with a good bit of elastic at the top? I like the ones that are attached onto the sleepsuits as like you i have woken to her with horrible scratches on her face when she has managed to get the mittens offSad

igotta good luck with house move... I done it in the summer when pregnant and i also done it when dd1 was 6 months .,, very stressful but you will get there eventually Smile

Thanks for the link Polka I'll give it a try.
STIGZ socks lasted longer than mittens but the little bugger darling is too clever, I watched her pull one off using her mouth then freed the other one too! Then giggled at me Hmm Sorry to hear about teething, fx she enjoys her food a bit more the rest of the week Smile

MundayCakes85 · 11/03/2015 12:01

I've ordered some adjustable mittens from hook and loopy website. Will report back on how long they stay on for Grin

I was in work yesterday. Providing I manage to sort out decent childcare, I'm looking forward to going back.

Finally had a reasonable night. She screamed on boyfriend from 9 - 9.30 but he managed to get her to sleep upright. The snot then mysteriously didn't make a return until 6am. Meant she only woke when hungry, which was still 3 times, but 2-3 hour gaps in between. 7 and a half hours sleep, which is better than the 3 I've been averaging for the last 3 weeks.

splendide · 12/03/2015 15:53

That's good Goats, hopefully that's a phase done with.

I have the last lot of jabs this afternoon, hopefully he'll be ok. He napped for 2.5 hours this afternoon! Tired boy.

STIGZ · 12/03/2015 17:38

Gosh... Its bloody quiet on here just nowShock. Maybe everyone is catching up on sleep that was lost these past 5 months? Hmm ... I wish i was, told dp all i want for Mother's Day is to stay in my bed all day and not move a muscle .,, probably got more chance of finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow Grin

Day 1 of mittens with Velcro: no matter how tight you make the cuff you can't beat a 5 month old!
Back to the drawing board Hmm

Igottastartthinkingbee · 12/03/2015 20:04

Well we're all moved in! Total chaos in the house but it's just unpacking and finding homes for everything now. Maybe the new house will inspire DD to sleep a bit longer?

Igotta congrats on the move!

Bump really hope she sleeps through.

Stigz wow, having a return to work date makes it seem so official.

Hope you all have great mother's days. The US one is in May, so I kind of get two (well, we don't go mad for them but breakfast in bed and flowers and the like at the very least!).

And my first baby is turning 5 on Monday ShockShock. The years have flown by.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 13/03/2015 07:19

Don't you just hate it when you feel totally knackered but you have the in laws staying so you have to be polite/useful/talk sense/reasonably well presented all the time?? They've helped with the move so I'm being totally ungrateful but I just want them to go home now. DD is full of snot and has gunky eyes now too so she's not sleeping at all well (cue comments of 'well we never had the babies in with us when ours were little' and 'have you tried just putting her down?'). Helpful.

ohthegoats · 13/03/2015 09:22

Another ok night... phew I hope that phase is done with, I need a month of decent sleep to make up for 3 weeks of shocking stuff. Fingers crossed.

Buttwing · 13/03/2015 09:26

igotta my fil visits me and the children most days. My jaw aches by the time he's gone from gritting my teeth and smilingGrin
I've given up tidying up though, he once commented that it was like a bomb had gone off just after I'd had dc3 I told dp who gave him such a bollocking (and rightly so!!)

Both my Babywing and his elder brother(18 months) have chest infections. Toddlerwing has already had one course of antibiotics and is now on second lot which taste vile and I'm really struggling to get down him and tips would be greatly appreciated!!

I also took Babywing to be weighed yesterday, he was on the 75th centile at birth and has now dropped to the 25th. This of course set the Hv alarms off and one practically ran over to me and asked "what's been happening to cause this?" Errrrmm nothingHmm
I understand that they have to ask these questions but I left doubting everything I've been doing. But after having a chat with dp last night I've come to the conclusion that he's just a long and thin baby. He feeds well, sleeps well (ish!) and is really happy and usually healthy.
She also kept asking if I knew what I was doing with weaning if I decided to start early. She kept saying "if you decide to start early" I think she was trying to hint maybe I should. I won't though, I don't feel he's ready and there's no need at the moment.

Greenstone · 13/03/2015 09:56

IL visit today here too. It's going to be nice but very tiring.
Night was mixed. When putting her to bed I decided to not bother doing the whole drowsy but awake tussle I've been doing for weeks. It takes at least an hour and a half to settle her that way as she just fights it and then wakes constantly throughout the evening. So I just let her fall asleep in my arms and put her down after 20 mins, and she slept 8-11.40pm. Huge improvement on recent evenings. However I fell asleep holding her during the 20 minute wait after a night feed so then woke about an hour later and tried to put her down - ping awake. Got her back to sleep, waited another 20 mins, ping awake. Sigh. So in beside me she came.

Really glad you had another better night goats.

FlipFantasia · 13/03/2015 11:22

Buttwing sorry to hear you've two sick kids (hope the older ones stay healthy). No tips on antibiotics as mine have never had them (well, dd1 had some IV ones in January). Glad you're an experienced mum with a supportive DP who can stand up to HVs about weight. Long and lean is what some babies are (or a banana baby rather than an apple baby). All my three are like that but first time around HVs really made me doubt myself. Until a paediatrician gave me the best advice: read the baby not a chart.

Green I feed dd2 to sleep on my bed and then sleep next to her all night, feeding to sleep as I need to. We bought a cot for her last week so am about to start the process of transferring - bet she ends up back in bed with me most nights!

ohthegoats · 13/03/2015 12:39

Someone at swimming today asked if I have to 'go in and help her settle when she wakes in the night'.. go in? Nooooo, she sleeps beside me, just easier. Cue horrified looks. Ha.

Buttwing · 13/03/2015 14:59

Ha ha goats some people are ridiculous! Why make things hard for yourself!

Poor toddlerwing is now projectile vomiting as soon as the antibiotic hits the back of his throat I've called the gp to see if he can prescribe something else. He got me full on in the face when I was trying to give it him before!! Also babywing now has a runny bum thanks to his antibiotics so all in all not one of the best days Grin

Can't wait to get in the bath when they're all in bed.

STIGZ · 13/03/2015 15:33

Buttwing have you tried mixing it in a little juice? Thats what i have to do with dd1.

OP posts:
Buttwing · 13/03/2015 15:49

Yes stigz I have but it's funny stuff it's like grainy milky gloop so it didn't really work I think it's got to the point where his body is just rejecting it hopefully gp will prescribe something different I think maybe it's too strong for him he only has two 2.5 ml doses a day so it sounds quite hardcore!

STIGZ · 13/03/2015 18:00

buttwing deffo should make the stuff child friendly ... I dont envy you, i always get so stressed when dd1 has to take medicine of any kind,, she even struggles with calpol Hmm your mummy skills are really pushed to the limit when they are ill Sad

OP posts:
Buttwing · 13/03/2015 20:36

stigz I know it's no fun is it?!

We got sorted in the end and dp went and collected an alternative from the chemist tonight. The pharmacist was really surprised that it had been prescribed for a toddler he said lots of adults struggle to take it because it's so vile. If you ever see clarythromycine (sp) on a prescription foe any of your little ones ask for something else!! It's evil stuff!

Does anyone have any nice plans for Sunday? I'm having my mum round and we are getting a take away it's too stressful at the mo going for a meal with all the kids so we are taking the easy option:)

YellowWellies · 13/03/2015 20:44

Buttwing Mr Toddler had that AB last month as amoxycillin (the nice kid friendly strawberry flavoured AB) gives him diarrhoea like a fire hose Envy . Getting that stuff into him was simply a case, in the end, of naked, unabashed bribery "if you take it you can have some haribo". How on earth to get it into a baby? Shock
