New thread Grin, and I can assure you all, it'll be a corker.

Plonkysaurus · 25/04/2015 15:30

Haha Worse. I'll be sure to recreate those shots for your pleasure, should we buy a volvo.

Car shopping with a tired toddler is another circle of hell I wouldn't care to revisit any time soon!

Hello all, just sticking my head in to say hi! I meant to come by in march but only just got to catching up on you all Blush

Congratulations on babies /pregnancies.Cake

worse my skim through the thread tells me you've had a hell of a time (understatement!) , hope you're on the mend now. Re bf have you spoke to the bf pharmacist ? She's really good on meds/feeding. Though I'm pretty impressed you're still going , you must be very tough!

Shatteredmamma1 · 25/04/2015 21:26

Hi ood
worse good news on the conservatory. Nothing to climb in there then??!! Grin
plonk yes I've officially Had Enough. Can't quite get past the pregnancy/labour thoughts to get it into my head I'll have a newborn soon, all being well. I'll realise it soon enough!! I have also bought a new swimming cossie. Non maternity, and it's lovely. Can't wait to get into it and throw my hideous mat one in the bin!! worse swimming with a bump is nice. But I'm breathless and have to keep stopping. I normally cycle 20/30 miles a week, run/circuits once a week, and swim 50 lengths with maybe just 1-2 quick breaks. Plus I walk a lot when my pelvis works. Just swimming 20 lengths 3x week at the mo- it's not enough for me to feel normal and doesn't help the weight gain..! Shock
Hope everyone else well. Looking forward to seeing Volvo pics soon...!!

ecofreckle · 26/04/2015 09:53

Sunday! That used to mean lie in and elaborate brunch followed by culture or nature and coffee out. Not any more Smile I just read four apple tree Farm books back to back. I ruddy hate them but Ecotod disagrees.

Worse the breast feeding network have a drugs helpline. You can leave messages and. Wendy Jones gets back to you. There are also fact sheets on their website. There's also a great Facebook closed group called breastfeeding young(er) babies and beyond which is very supportive with a variety of feeding issues. Wendy Jones also responds to queries on there. Ecotod was 18 months before I discovered these resources and that was 18 months of struggling with migraine without drugs on advice of gp. I wish I'd found her sooner! I'm on day two of migraine right now but now I can take drugs at least I can bounce between feeling awful and drug induced respite.

Plonky what was the outcome of the car shopping? Any decisions made? The first hint of a bump and I'd love to see a photo.

Which brings me to shattered. Where is this photo?? There'll be a baby soon. Get a wriggle on! You're a machine with all that exercise pre pregnancy. I assume your pelvic floor is happy and that you did lots of exercises?

Betty mumsnet says running is terrible for pelvic floor. Especially if you have any hint of prolapse. Should I not be attempting the half marathon training really? My pelvic floor is weak and things on occasion feel very saggy down there. Sad

Happy weekend everyone. There's still half of it left!

Shatteredmamma1 · 26/04/2015 21:02

Hi eco Smile
How's the running? Most of my exercise is low impact and my pelvic floor has/had recovered a lot. Running more than 5k makes me think though..having said that even swimming at the beginning made me rush for a wee Blush. Stopping BF helped my PF!! Could you add some Pilates in to your training? It would help a lot . Let's hope labour no 2 doesn't set me right back..,
plonk nice pic Grin I definitely cAnt post one now!!
How's everyone else's weekends ?

worserevived · 26/04/2015 21:35

Eco if it were me I'd probably pass, but if you are determined start slow and stop if it feels wrong. I know someone who had a prolapse by running before their pelvic floor had recovered sufficiently, and they had considerable problems as a result.

Shattered I'm sure you look fab. You can't go comparing yourself to Plonk who is still at the early blooming stage when you are at the 'can't wait for it to end' stage. My FB bump picture looks considerably better than I did at 9months!

Eco the stuff I'm on definitely isn't bf-ing friendly, but it isn't for much longer so the end is in sight. Problem now is I was intentionally running my milk down, so now face ramping it up. Not easy when you lack the time to pump. Hopefully Wotta's double pump will give me a kick start.

First day of a toddle free week, and omg is it quiet. I can't quite get my head around just how easy it is with one, when the one in question can't run off when your back is turned. I've missed her like mad, but having solo time with Babax is very special. I feel like he is mine again Smile. It's the little things like him wriggling and giggling with excitement because he can hear me running the bath... or gazing up at me when he is feeding, only to stop mid suck to give me a grin. Melts your heart.

DH on the other hand is learning first hand exactly why I am tired after he has been away for a week. He always used to asked me, with his irritating concerned face on, why I was tired, and could I not cope?! Grin But today he has had the day from hell, because having arrived at 11pm last night after a 6 hour drive during which madam did not sleep, she then decided she was over excited and kept him up until 2am. Result, one very over tired toddle, and all that entails. Part of what it entailed was a full on lie down on the floor heel kicky screamy tantrum in the middle of sainsbury, and a poo in the bath oh how I laughed. Original plan was to come back late Thursday. Revised plan is Wednesday. Bets on Tuesday anyone Grin??!

yummychocolate · 26/04/2015 22:05

worse dh will be kissing your feet when comes back home. Your description of babax made me well up. That is so sweet.

WottaMess · 27/04/2015 06:51

Have it with me to get going to you today Worse so hope it helps! As rainbow says though, never totally judge your supply by the amount you pump though, it's not the same!

Glad you're getting this time with babax, makes up for the nanny stealing him a bit Grin. And dh will find his feet with the worselet - he just needs the practice! Perhaps he will learn the importance of naps and bedtimes...

Plonk love, you look smashing but agree with stormy, it's been no time at all, surely Wink

Shattered you will look Fabulous, Magnificent, and Marvellous. You will feel like a whale. That's late pg and normal. But not long to go now! Some of us might recommend packing your bag at this stage having not made it much longer first time around... Smile

BettyBitesBums · 27/04/2015 07:28

Eco running is indeed rubbish for your pelvic floor if you've a weakness or prolapse but is good for the rest of you and excellent for your mental health and so pros and cons need weighing up!

The vast majority of people will feel different down below after having a baby vaginally in that you can usually feel more vaginal tissue than before but that's very different from feeling a bulge coming down and out, a prolapse is basically a hernia. That gives you a dragging sensation and can interfere with bladder/bowel too.

How often do you do pelvic floor exercises. 10 minutes twice a day is ideal I usually manage about 3mins a few times a day and looking up proper exercises online or going to physio is very different from just giving everything a random squeeze. Grin

The suggestion of Pilates is a truly excellent one because that does a huge amount of pelvic floor work, as does yoga as they're all about strengthening your core, and adding that in will definitely help.

Plonkysaurus · 27/04/2015 07:37

Shattered I bet you look beautiful. My photo shows a barely there bump and is only testament to a bit of wind and a big meal Grin.
You sound like an exercise machine! That's a lot, no wonder you miss it now.

Eco I never ran pre-DS. I took it very, very slowly, and only carried on because I never felt like I would wet myself. But at the beginning I was going to the gym, and would run for five mins then do other strength building stuff. You don't need a gym to build strength though, yoga can be good for that.

No idea what we're doing about the car given my lack of projected earnings in the near future. It needs doing though, his car is currently trying to gas us if we dare to leave the windows closed.

Worse so glad you have this time with Babax all to yourself, sounds lovely. Couldn't help but laugh when reading about dd's escapades with DH. It's a, shall we say, steep learning curve to look after a toddler full time.

Point taken about the bump pic Hmm Won't post another till I look like shite.

OP posts:
Shatteredmamma1 · 27/04/2015 08:22

Plonk it's a lovely pic . Wasn't meant to make you feel bad at all. Is your scan soon? You said your nausea has settled a bit?
Wotta I have indeed almost packed a bag. You were early then? not jealous at all .. Smile
Wow worse hope you are enjoying the peace despite missing the toddle. Make the most of it and hope DH will now appreciate you properly!! How's the hotel going?
Thinking about a new toddler group this am. Not used to not working Mondays!! Grin

worserevived · 28/04/2015 15:04

Shattered you really are ticking off the days now! Thinking of you. It'll be fine! Even if you go over due. All the best people go over due Grin. Even herself, the royal one, is following my lead on that one Wink

Wotta Thank you, your pump has arrived, so that's my evening sorted!

Betty how long do you reckon I should leave it before feeding Babax, after coming off the antibiotics? Looking at the half life info on the web I calculated the minimum as 35 hours, but someone advised 72hrs to be on the safe side. Would you agree 72 hrs would be without any question of a doubt safe?

Hotel is going great although exactly how much time DH has been able to devote to it so far this week is debatable. I believe he is discovering toddles are a full time job Grin. The two new refurb rooms should be up and running in a fortnight, and we already have a waiting list for bookings for both those, and the holiday cottage conversion. The way things are going we counts chickens might actually be about to make a success of this.

Ah, Babax calls. He has a cold... his calling sounds like a little hoarse lamb. It's v sad.

BettyBitesBums · 28/04/2015 16:57

Worse which antibiotics were you on again? Clindamycin or co-amox? I've completely forgotten which you said and can't scroll back!

I've had a day to myself and had a tooth drilled to hell lovely, thrashed myself in the gym, had a lovely swim and have now ruined all of the above with a giant bar of galaxy to myself. Blush

worserevived · 28/04/2015 18:40

It's clarithromycin and amoxicillin, both 500s.

Gym and swim sounds fab!!

BettyBitesBums · 28/04/2015 18:52

72 hours is fine. The reason for being told not to take it while breastfeeding is that it's never been formally tested, but most drugs haven't, and it also hasn't been tested for giving to babies under a couple of months old, but a lot of people would advise that the risk of anything worse than slightly loose nappies in babies is very minimal when you look at the retrospective case series there are published. There was also on a very tiny dose in breastmilk when it was tested so again after 72hours it's fine.

Have you had a bash at expressing now? How did it go? I could never get more than about 2oz off when expressing even when madam was EBF! It's all very random isn't it?

I've just picked madam up from nursery and braved giving her hair a trim for the first time as it was looking ridiculously straggly at the ends. I'm not sure it's made a huge difference because I was mega cautious but it's definitely a little neater!

worserevived · 28/04/2015 19:18

Thanks Betty Smile. I googled and there was mention of a tiny correlation between hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and azithromycins, which was enough to convince me. Well that and the 'breast milk must be discarded' in capital letters across my hospital discharge note. I guess they err on the side of caution.

I've been expressing the whole time, but initially just the excess. Now I'm expressing the lot to try and maintain/boost supply. The single pump I had was ok, but the double is so much better. First thing I can get 8floz, but after that it's never more than 3 or 4. A tad disheartening given the volume Babax drinks. Boys are so much hungrier than girls. At the same age the toddle would faff about over her meals, really stretching them out. He's done in 10 mins flat, and drains the lot. Excellent belcher too. I see many years of play ground vulgarity ahead Grin

I'm impressed by the hair cutting. Any chance you'd cut my toddle's hair too? She won't let me near it. It's such a mess the nursery stipulated we must provide hair bobbles as it is getting in her food Confused

BettyBitesBums · 28/04/2015 21:05

I only managed the trim through the power of chocolate digestives, a high chair and Dora the Explorer!

We just had a hellish bedtime. They're really variable at the moment but DH is on call and it took nearly 2hrs and at one point I lost my temper and shouted at her so now feel horrendous. Sometimes parenting is shite and hard and full of guilt.

Shatteredmamma1 · 29/04/2015 19:08

Don't feel guilty betty. We had an easy bedtime yesterday but then he got up and screamed for over an hour! For no apparent reason. I definitely lose it and about sometimes. I am definitely finding that he tests my boundaries these days..!! Smile
worse have you seen diastisisrectified.com? I can't link but it came up on another thread. Hope you're doing ok- any further forward with the surgery ..?? Also I second not worrying how much you pump out- it's not representative. Are you planning ok getting him back on the boob or purely expressing?
I've list my memory for everything else. Am blaming baby brain. yummy are you finishing soon? Hope you have a few weeks enjoying it before you look for anything else. eco how are you? plonk lovely scan pic Grin!

Plonkysaurus · 30/04/2015 07:32

shattered don't worry love, you didn't upset me. It was more the suggestion that I'm being silly taking a photo at 12 weeks that did that! As if I'm not allowed to show any excitement or glee at having another baby.

Anyway. your bump is beautiful, so neat and you still look slim to me!

Worse how goes the pumping? Doubles really do make it easier. I hope Babax latches well again and you can enjoy feeding him. And good news on the volvo. We're getting one, and DH has agreed to a photo to reenact The Saint.

Scan was brilliant. They had a second monitor so I saw everything - and blubbed appropriately.

OP posts:
worserevived · 30/04/2015 10:49

Plonky of course you are allowed to be excited. Goes without saying. This is MN. The mere hint of a POAS thread and we all get terribly excited. A real live documented bump, well that's cause for a major celebration Grin

Speaking of celebration, I am having a small one here myself as Babax is back on the boob. He looked quite pleased about it. As did I. In fact it was mutual grins all round. It'll have to be mixed feeding for a while, and I may express his evening feed just to be sure he gets enough to take him through until early morning, but it's a start. Formula hasn't half bloated him up though. If I ever bothered with baby clinic I might have some clue as to how much he has gained, but I haven't, so I don't, but it is a lot. He has a bum now Grin. Previously he was modelling the buttock-less look. It is a look the men on my side of the family carry through until old age.

Bumped into my 49 year old pregnant friend today. She has 3 weeks to go. She looks utterly amazing, and I swear to god unless you knew she was pregnant you wouldn't notice. She's all blonde swishy hair and artfully ruffled jumpers like Twiggy in an M&S ad. S'not fair Grin

Shattered thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I see my crap gp on Friday, so expect me to be on here ranting by the afternoon. Given the woman couldn't diagnose an in-grown toenail I do not hold high hopes for a sensible discussion re my options.

Plonky yay for the scan. It's all getting very real now!!!

Shattered I am sending 'hurry up' vibes to your bump. Didn't work when I sent them to mine, but it's the thought that counts Wink

Shock news, DH has extended his stay in Cumbria to saturday Shock. The toddle hasn't killed him yet! She's doing her best mind, he sent some photos and let's just say he has looked better.

yummychocolate · 30/04/2015 11:40

Hi everyone.

I have just caught up on fb and on here. You know I am not good at keeping up especially at the beginning of the week when I am at work. I have 5 days left at work spread over 3 weeks. I can't wait.

plonky what a lovely scan photo. I can't believe how quickly your pregnancy is going. Will you be finding out the sex at the next scan?

shattered you have a cute bump and look slim despite being in your third trimester.

worse I am so happy for you and babax. Do you think breastfeeding second time round is less painful?

betty hope bedtimes are a lot better since your hellish one. We have had those too including several wake ups during the night so I definitely know how you feel.

Ds has just had a meltdown of throwing toys around. That signalled nap time even though it is a bit earlier than usual.

Have a lovely day everyone.

worserevived · 30/04/2015 16:36

Yummy bf-ing is definitely much easier second time round. For starters your milk comes in about 24 hours earlier so your nipples don't get as sore. Both times I've ended up quite chewed during the colostrum phase. You don't get as engorged at the beginning either, so all good really. I've been lucky both times in that worselet and babax have both just got on with it with zero guidance fro me. Midwife says my being 'petite' as she put it (or small boobed to the rest of us) helps as I have baby friendly nipples GrinGrinGrin. You know that phrase 'leave your dignity at the door'.... having a baby absolutely does that!

Plonkysaurus · 30/04/2015 19:50

Yummy five days over three weeks sounds ace. You must feel so good! Throwing toys is generally ds's signal for sleep too. Behaviour just completely degenerates into whinging.

Yes I think we will be finding out the sex at the next scan. will keep you posted.

Worse Yay for Babax taking happily to the boob again. It's interesting what you say about formula fattening him up. Ds was ff from early days and was a real chunk from about a month old. So in heartened to hear that you found BFing easier the second time.

Enjoy your last night of unadulterated Babax time. Sounds like DH really wanted to give you a break, which is lovely. Any danger of dd returning feral?Grin

Strange day here. DM fell down the stairs and needed to go to a&e. So I did that this morning and spent the afternoon making her comfortable at home. Thankfully she's ok. Quite a strange experience to help your mother get dressed and use the loo. So I'm settling down with Netflix and an ice cream.

Oh Worse I should mention, this came on the radio while I was driving home and I thought of you. It did something strange to me. I had to pull over and sob over the wheel for the duration!!

OP posts:
yummychocolate · 30/04/2015 20:48

It is a relief to read your post about breastfeeding second time round. It gives me hope. I was in so much pain breastfeeding ds. He made me sore and bleed. It makes me shudder when I think about the early days.

plonky hope your dm recovers quickly. It is weird when the roles are reversed.

Ds is being cute feeding and putting his monkey to sleep. I will have to buy him a doll. He is becoming so imaginative.

worserevived · 01/05/2015 00:24

Plonky it gets me every time too. I wish I'd paid more heed...

Your poor DM. I'm so glad she wasn't seriously hurt.

First really tough day today, as I've been up since 4.30am and Babax has only just gone to sleep. I must turn in too, as he'll be up for a feed in a few hours.

Yummy my only tip is nipple balm, lots of it, pack it in your hospital bag and use it from day 1.
