I'm trying to avoid changing the nappy. She's starting to have a really bad cough. I hope she's not going to have croup.

JuniDD · 22/02/2015 01:15

I wish I could but with this dribbling she's had a really sore arse. Angry Of course it wakes her up loads and we're off again! She's lying here chatting away. I hope she is not going to be doing this pattern for long.

JuniDD · 22/02/2015 01:16

This is handy actually. She's been up nearly an hour so may go back down if I feed her after the nappy. Fingers crossed.

Minion · 22/02/2015 02:50

Ahh hello fellow wide awakers!

Knew I'd be seeing you tonight.
For some reason this one is wide awake after her bottle. She hasn't done this in a long time so I'm rocking the crap out of her.
Bets on how long she'll last? We're in on an hour awake so far. Meltdown in t minus 30 mins and counting.

ZylaB · 22/02/2015 04:27

DH has been trying to do all the settling tonight and has admitted she's hardly slept at all. It's his last night before back to work on mon (as I need him to sleep tomorrow night so he doesn't have an accident driving on mon). I've just taken over and she's clearly trying to cluster feed and suspect that's what she's wanted to do all night. Poor dh, and silly H for her timing!

willywallace · 22/02/2015 05:17

We were awake from 12.30-3 and now she's back up. I suspect that'll be her for the night. Why is she awake for so long in the middle of the night?

JuniDD · 22/02/2015 06:57

OMG she only woke up half an hour ago! Had to get up at 6 to hand express. I feel so money supermarket with all that sleep! (4 hrs.)

She has now done an enormopoo. Shock

Nessalina · 22/02/2015 08:10

Ah, 4hrs in a row is always a winner - I always used to think I needed 8, but 4 in a row is actually enough to feel pretty damn good!
Zyla - how are you surviving without napping in the day? Shock Our first two weeks J was totally nocturnal - wouldn't sleep at all between 12-6, so I survived by sleeping 10-12, then 6-8 and sneaking in a snooze mid-afternoon. It's so easy to say 'sleep when they sleep', but I was always like, but if I do that, when do I get anything else done?? Grin
We used to feed to sleep at night, because if a feed didn't get him off then the only way to get him to sleep was to bounce around rocking him vigorously until he fell into a reluctant snooze! Which doesn't half kill your back! Confused Then suddenly feeding to sleep just stopped working, I think it was a growth spurt or something... So now we settle him with the dummy, I have no idea how we'd manage without it Blush I feed him up to half an hour before sleep, then we pop him down in grobag with his dummy, play some soothing music, and I lie down next to him and hold his hand!! It takes him between 5mins and 30mins to go off depending on how tired he is more tired takes longer for some reason!! Probably creating a rod for my own back, but if I don't let him hold my fingers then he tries to put his hand in his mouth and knocks out the dummy. I'm hoping at some point I can substitute my hand for some sort of comforter...
When he wakes in the night sometimes he does feed to sleep, but usually needs the dummy and goes back our pretty quick.
Our method all the way through so far has been 'do what works and worry about it later' and that seems to be working for us!!
Sorry, that's another essay Grin I so rarely get chance to post that I've always got loads to say! Maybe I should post more often but less, lol.

FurryScoob · 22/02/2015 09:25

If id known you were all awake id have joined the party!

I'm just doing what works at the time aswell, Friday night last feed was followed by 1/2 an hour screaming then 7 hours straight sleep. Last night last feed was followed my an hour of her trying to roll over using her head as a leaver, having a paddy because she couldn't do it followed by another feed & sleeping in my bed. She slept for 6 hours but is such a wiggly sleeper I get punched in the face most the night. I'm too scared to put her in her big cot now she seems to want to turn over, if she managed it I'm not sure she's be safe sleeping on her belly.

willywallace · 22/02/2015 10:03

Always just do what works. I panicked so much with Miniwil hat I was mucking everything up. Because of her reflux I had to hold her upright after feeds so she always fell asleep either feeding or being cuddled. They just grow out of needing you. People I know who have used a dummy say if you bin it off at the six month stage they get used to it after a day or two.

ZylaB · 22/02/2015 10:41

ness I don't know, adrenaline and the newness of everything I think! I'm going to try and get my head around sleeping in the day tomorrow when DH goes back to sleep, and sleep after feeds when she does if I can!

ZylaB · 22/02/2015 13:42

*when DH goes back to work! (Tomorrow :( )

willywallace · 22/02/2015 14:17

Good luck zyla. I was scared when I was first left on my own but actually you find quite a good routine which suits you. Then you get annoyed when they're unexpectedly home Grin .

RPopz · 22/02/2015 16:04

Ha true Wil! I always expect having DH at home to be more useful than it actually is... Hmm

Minion · 22/02/2015 16:35

Ffs we've a hole in our roof! The thankfully not the main roof, just the downstairs loo.
Fuming. The half hearted ass who lived here before us needs a good twatting.

Emergency roofers are round, thankfully not as expensive as we were fearing.

ZylaB · 22/02/2015 19:02

Omg! First bath since CS! (Have been showering, I'm not a smelly bitch honest!)

It's heaven!!

RPopz · 22/02/2015 19:36

Haha, enjoy Zy

Aw, feel your pain min - we had to get some work done on the roof in December... not the best use of 900 quid one week into maternity leave!! Angry Hope it's sorted quickly.

RPopz · 22/02/2015 19:37

I'm getting DH's cold... I can feel it brewing in the back of my throat Angry Angry

Minion · 22/02/2015 20:18

£400 later.. Ouch! It's a good job I went on there tbh. Usually the pram is in front of us door but the husband had just hoovered so it was clear. And he'd just been in there 30 mins previously and no sign.
If I hadn't have gone in we could have been flooded.
Phew.

Well this one has slept all day, with an hour or so of waking then crying. Took her a while to nod off just now but she is the most still I've seen her in a while.
Been throwing milk down her throat in an effort to make sure she's having enough.
She's still only having 120-130 ml a feed.

God I hope she sleeps well, I feel like an awful mother for dreading night times now.

Shall we make a date for the meeting of the wide awake club? R wakes up at 2 exactly, so I'll see ou all there.

willywallace · 22/02/2015 20:36

I dread night time too Min. We'll probably still be awake at 2.

That sucks about your roof. What a crap way to have to spend money.

willywallace · 22/02/2015 20:37

Oh I long for a bath but I haven't had time since the birth!

cookielove · 22/02/2015 20:47

Hello all, we've never had a massive poo explosion, a bit of leak or once or twice a bit out the top or down the leg but mostly he is quite contained :) which is good for 6 months old.

We are often up in the wee small hours too :(

RPopz · 22/02/2015 21:25

I just had a quick bath to sooth my poor ass. It's somehow made it worse! Confused Childbirth, the gift that keeps on giving!

I used to dread night time too. Don't feel bad. He's having reasonably settled nights atm but I'm sure that'll all blow up in my face shortly!!

JuniDD · 22/02/2015 21:31

sorry about your poor bum popz. I am still getting cervix-fally-outy sensations and my cervix didn't even do that much! Angry

God knows what kind of night we're in for. She refused to feed to sleep so I took her down again so I could ha e dinner. She seemed wide awake but we brought her back up, nappy change and lay her in her cot for a break and she passed out! 2am looking likely. Or she'll sleep all night and I'll be up expressing...Angry Going to bed myself to prepare!

RPopz · 22/02/2015 21:49

Ooh I've not had that I don't think juni haha. I think I've got anal fissures... really common after forceps deliveries apparently... Joy. Back to the docs tomorrow again. Good thing minipopz is damn cute.
