Hahaha that's always the way Min, wee blighters!

We had blood-curdling, someone is trying to murder me, screams from 10pm-2am. Couldn't console her at all. Then she crashed out until 7am. Wtf?! She has never slept 5 hours.

Minion · 20/02/2015 09:13

Oh poor you wil, I'm glad she gave you 5 hours to recoup tho.
Im off to the Trafford Centre to meet the girls and their girls so need to get up and at'em. Guess who crashed out on me stopping this from happening...
Ahh the life of a baby!

JuniDD · 20/02/2015 09:30

Hope you caught five hours too wil.

Feel so tired today...MrJ is still asleep. Envy Envy Envy Envy

willywallace · 20/02/2015 15:11

oh Juni, hope you prodded him awake. I did get five hours, couldn't believe it.

Aw I miss the Trafford Centre Min. That was the best thing about living in England.

The doctor offered me Ranitidine. Is that what DD is on Min? I said no for now because I'd rather wait until she was a few weeks older but don't really know anything about it. I'm going to eliminate dairy from my diet and see if that helps.

Minion · 20/02/2015 15:28

Yes that's what's she's having. She's not screamed since on it (well, not screamed due to that I should say) and she doesn't have excessive hiccups now, so maybe it's doing something.
She does posset now tho, which she didn't do before, and doesn't eat as much.

willywallace · 20/02/2015 16:40

Oh that's interesting. But her weight is fine? Maybe she was eating for comfort before? Does it neutralise the acid? Maybe if her weight is ok next time I get her checked I'll try it then. The gaviscon was making her really sick.

Minion · 20/02/2015 18:27

Yes, apparently they drink more to keep the acid down. I assume the posset was the stuff hurting her.
She's been a snoozy soozy all day, passed out again now, that's early for her, hoping that doesn't bite us in the arse later.

ZylaB · 20/02/2015 18:37

Well we've had 9 feeds so far today, expecting at least another 3 before midnight. I'm hoping she's worked out what the boob is for and will have more weight gain tomorrow....either that or my supply is rubbish and she's not getting enough from me, but she does drunk face and sleeps when she's finished (unless it's night time and I want to sleep, when she won't settle for at least 30/45 mins and insists in being cuddled until deeply asleep, nice for her, less so for me lol).

willywallace · 20/02/2015 19:09

Haha why are they all such tricksy wee things?! Maybe they're testing us to check we actually care and won't give them away.

ZylaB · 20/02/2015 20:32

I think we've started cluster feeding tonight too, 15 mins and a fussy baby between feeds, I don't mind at the moment as I'm bloody determined she'll put weight on, but I do hope she stops before too many hours have passed lol.

Mind you, I'm sure this'll sort my supply out better than pumping ever could!

ZylaB · 20/02/2015 20:43

Another bf question though, is it normal for my boobs to ache after a feed for a little while? Is it something to do with milk production? I know it's not letdown as its after she's finished and come off. I feel such a noob at all this! Grin

willywallace · 20/02/2015 21:34

I get achy boobs, nipples especially. Never been sure if it's normal or not actually. People say if you're doing it right it's not supposed to hurt but I've always found it takes its toll on my nipples.

RPopz · 20/02/2015 22:18

That is such bollocks about it not hurting if you're doing it right. It really irritates me that hcps tell people that! My nips were agony for weeks! Sounds like you're doing well Zy - keep up the good work! Smile Cluster feeding is a bitch. Make sure Mr Z is at your beck and call Grin

We've been discharged by HVs now... no more home visits. Piggy DS is 12lb 11oz now! Shock

Having my first post preggers glass of vino tonight... Feel like a norty school girl! Hope it doesn't knock DS out Hmm

How's the sleep/ reflux/ husband situations viroids?

Minion · 20/02/2015 23:08

Careful with the vino mate, I had 3 cocktails the other day and was 3 sheets to the wind! [grim]
Sleep: R is still snoozing post bedtime bottle. I need to pop her down but I love looking at her sleep smiles. Me:fell asleep watching girl with the dragon tattoo.
Reflux: R-as per
Husbands :very helpful, thankfully

Plans for weekend?

willywallace · 20/02/2015 23:40

I had my first (half) glass of wine in at least ten months yesterday. Was talking about going out with a friend next weekend for a few drinks but don't really think it will be possible with MicroWil's night time antics. May have to suggest an afternoon coffee when she's usually asleep. Think it would be nice to get out without a small child attached, just for an hour.

Do you still find feeding a bit sore now Popz? I always do, even after doing it for months.

I am fine but tired. Reflux situation is confusing me and not sure what to do for the best. Will see how tonight goes. MrWil has totally stepped up. If the wee one has a good night at some point I might even let him get a lie in. Think late nights and working is proving a struggle. At the moment though she is wide awake as only a baby can be at bedtime.

MrWil bought me Johnsons breast pads as they had no Tommee Tippee ones in the shop. They barely cover my nipples Grin .

This weekend I will mostly be trying to sleep and to assemble a double buggy (not at the same time).

ZylaB · 21/02/2015 00:28

popz apparently hardly any alcohol makes it through to the milk and you'd have to be really drunk for it to have an effect, so says my obstetrician SIL. The main risk is dropping/rolling onto baby if you're drunk etc, so don't worry over a glass (or two!!)

Nessalina · 21/02/2015 02:49

Hey viroids! I've been so lame at keeping up lately Confused This thread kept breaking the app for a while (it closed every time I tried to flip it!) so I got really behind, but I've now come to terms with the fact that I'm unlikely to properly catch up, and I've just read yesterday's posts!
Reflux sounds like a big old pain the arse, I'm really glad we never had any issues with that. Interestingly J is a very possety baby, so maybe that does have something to do with it? I'm so useless at putting bibs on him, so everything gets vommed on Blush
Zyla it sounds like you're doing really well Smile The happy milk drunk look really is your best indicator that she's getting enough! Remember her stomach is like the size of a sprout or something! so little and often is normal - your boobs are doing fine!! Wink BFing is so stressful for just not having any idea how much they're actually getting, but milk drunkeness is the best sign that you're all good I reckon.
Things are good here, just had a lonely night away in a hotel with my boys courtesy of DH Grin and J obliged by going down in good time so we could have room service, telly, & wine! I freaked out a bit coz J went down for a nap at 4, and we had a snooze too, and he didn't wake up until 6:30, when bedtime is 8! I was having a right panic that he wouldn't sleep that night, but the usual fussiness started right on cue at 7:30 and he was out like a light at 8! Feeling very happy that he's in a pretty regular routine now (sleep at 8, wakes either 11 & 4, or just once at 2, up at 7:30), and I'm shitting myself that 4 months is going to come along and it'll all go to pot - that's when it did for a lot of my friend's sprogs... Fingers crossed for continued happy babyness!!

Nessalina · 21/02/2015 02:50

Lovely not lonely!!! Blush

Nessalina · 21/02/2015 02:55

Oh and I've been drinking in moderation for a little while now... Having read up a bit, what Zyla says seems to be spot on, there's very little booze gets through, so as long as you're not on the piss constantly you should be ok! I'm tending to have one small drink after his early evening feed, or a slightly bigger drink after last feed because he goes longer. It disappears from your system and blood stream at about one unit per hour, so if you time it straight after a feed then by the time you're feeding again it's gone. And even if you do have to feed sooner than expected the amounts we're talking about in your milk are miniscule! It doesn't seem to be doing J any harm anyway, and I need booze in my life Grin

Minion · 21/02/2015 03:25

I felt dead sorry for you then, when you said you had a lonely night in a hotel.
Glad it was lovely on the end!

Is there a Sodding full moon tonight or something? I just cannot drop off. My eyes are itchy and tired. My body is tired. But my head is saying 'fuck that, I'm going to go through every song you know before I let you go to sleep '.
Currently it's Ed Sheeran ' thinking out loud '. Ironic, really.

willywallace · 21/02/2015 04:37

Min, think it was Juni who suggested that you go through each of your five senses thinking about what you can see, hear etc. Sounds bizarre but I tried it and it puts me to sleep every time! I am pretty tired in fairness but didn't think it would work. Now I do it every time I go for a snooze.

She's just done three hours. Bit disappointed after yesterday's five but she had managed to kick all blankets and her trousers off so poor wee thing was freezing. Hopefully that was partly what woke her. Only had two hours screaming earlier instead of four which was nice.

Minion · 21/02/2015 07:02

I forgot about that tip. Bah.
Well it's 7 and she's still asleep.
Woohoo. Still very active after her 3am feed but I managed to tune most of it out.

wil, we found a sleeping bag solved the blanket luck off problem. Think she likes it too.

cookielove · 21/02/2015 07:07

Hello all, checking in! Quite jealous of all your sleepers we are still having issues with Elijah :( although recently we have an 8pm bedtime with one wake up at 2 so fx we can keep that one up. My plan is also to feed him lots during the day yesterday he had 3 meals and 5 bottles!

And of course I am clutching at straws that when we move he will be in his own room so fx will sleep through!

Fx zyla your lo puts on weight Grin

Elijah has never had a problem in that department apart from his very first weigh in after birth but I am told that is to be expected. Any way he is 17lb 11oz.

Life is good here, hope you are all well!

willywallace · 21/02/2015 07:18

I would like to put her into a sleeping bag Min but she seems to like being wrapped up. Might try it though.

Awful night here. No sleep since I last posted. She's back to being mega uncomfy. So it's either give her the gaviscon and make her puke. Or don't give her it and she is uncomfy. At least it's helped me decide about the ranitidine. Will get some on Tuesday.

JuniDD · 21/02/2015 09:49

Crap night here too. So tired and MrJ who has apparently not gone to the gym to spend time with us is complaining about how tired he is after spending the night in the spare room! He thinks he's pre-baby and can stay up watching films all night and have a lie-in.
