Hales good luck!
I've heard the water thing too. I think whatever you do you have to do it (and expect it not to work instantly) for at least three nights to help them accept that there is definitely no more milk.

DS has been really ill this week. He has had a temp and been so miserable. Poor little love. He was so hot and feverish this morning he was shivering. Considering the fact that he has slept the last two nights with DH in the spare room I couldn't believe dh hadn't given him something.
Fx tonight is more peaceful.

halestone · 14/01/2015 10:20

Nutella how is DS today? i hope he is better and that you are ok.Thanks

We are waiting for the HV she is coming to do H's 2 year assessment today.

MrsNutella · 14/01/2015 13:21

DS had his assessment at the dr this morning Smile hope it goes well withen the HV. DS is suitably perfect.

Dr said it sounds worse - DH and I think it is actually a bit better. He seems better in himself. Dr said to use the nebuliser thing we have three times a day. Which is great but we have no idea how to make DS actually sit still and inhale the stuff. He just runs off and only runs back to switch the machine off Confused I think he'll be ok for nursery tomorrow but DH isn't sure. We'll see how tonight goes.

MrsNutella · 14/01/2015 13:40

And DS does not like having snot dribbling out of his nose. I got up to him twice this morning shouting "tissue" which sounds more like "tiss-oooh" poor love sounded quite miserable. Then he got up and was running around... I think he is on the road to recovery...l

halestone · 14/01/2015 15:29

Awww Bless Nutella its tight when their full of cold.

H did well and she even suggested that to try and get H to poo on the toilet i could let her try and blow a balloon up obviously under supervision as it helps them when pushing and keeps them entertained.

Hello. Sorry I don't post much. I always read when I can, and try and go back to not miss anything. But by the time I've finished and dealt with the duo I'm usually in no state to post.

Just wondering how many others are hearing themselves echoed back from their DC in cute ways. I find it adorable. I told DS off for not sharing his Lego just now. He looked a bit put out, then ran off shouting "I know what I'll doooo..." and came back with a toy for DD. He's also affirmed to us that we're naturally quite polite with his "oh no DD, please don't touch my book/toy".

I'm surprised how often I realise I love him even more each day.

halestone · 14/01/2015 21:07

Stacks i know exactly what you mean, i love seeing Dp in H as well. It is strange how you love them more and more i didn't think it was possible to love her anymore then she does something and it takes over.

Well i have had 3 lovely days in a row with her and i'm keeping evryyhing crossed that it continues.

OP posts:
WLmum · 14/01/2015 21:10

stacks that's lovely. I often have love bomb moments with the dds but am feeling the love for DH atm - he's being amazing supporting me.
nutella I hope ds is feeling better soon.
hales balloon trick sounds interesting but even dd1 can't blow up balloons yet!

halestone · 14/01/2015 21:22

WL love bomb is the perfect discriptionGrin

i think she isn't actually suppose to blow the balloon up, just get her to try and it helps IYSWIM. It didn't work anyway i gave her the balloon on the toilet and she jumped off and shouted and shouted for her nappy.

Today was ds' last settling in session at nursery and he was there for over an hour on his own. A few tears when they were all getting their waterproofs on but it does get a bit hectic and they said he was easily distracted with a cuddle. He cried when he had to come home.

DeladionInch · 15/01/2015 12:34

Hi stacks I'm the same re: posting. So tired I don't have time to form a coherent sentence Blush

Fabulous hales keep up the good work H!

Guess who had dry pants all morning at school :o :o :o :o :o And got picked to be the dog in The Farmer's In His Den :o I was a bit worried about him making friends as he's considerably younger than most of the other kids so I'm really glad they're being kind (I was expecting them to just ignore him a bit until his language catches up iyswim)

halestone · 15/01/2015 13:54

Deladioninch well done to R Grin

Spotty, i took my DN to nursery today she only started yesterday. I had to ask the teacher what she did yesterday as DN is adamant that what goes on at school is a secretHmm

SpottyTeacakes · 15/01/2015 14:04

Haha I love that. I stayed for circle time this morning and the owners one year old came and sat on my lap and wouldn't leave Grin (nursery only takes from age 2 so he gets lots of attention!)

MrsNutella · 15/01/2015 21:10

Hales that is funny, shhhhh school is a secret!

Delad I bet the important words will appear very quickly Grin DS quickly learnt things like no, food and outside in German- things that are very important to him.

My gosh what a day we have had! DS ran off with the bottle of calpol this morning I was busy changing DD so I did run after him.
He came back a minute later, bottle (and syringe thingy in hand) no lid ShockShockShock he had calpol on him, on my side of the bed and I could smell it on his breath. Rang DH, couldn't get through because he was at the dr. So I had to send him a message.

DH rang the paediatrician, said come here Asap. DH dashed home picked us all up. We went to the Dr. They panicked a bit and sent us to hospital.

At the children's hospital (DH knew the nice A&E Dr - they went to school together, a nice distraction). Anyway, she reckoned from the amount in the bottle and the fact we had used some DS probably hadn't drunk a poisonous amount.
She would have sent us home but in the end it was decided, better safe than sorry. They sent us up to a ward, they took blood, sent the blood off to the lab.

So we eventually get the result.... They couldn't find paracetamol in his system. So we could come home again. But from 9:30 until about 16:30 that was my day.

MrsNutella · 15/01/2015 21:13

Sorry for the epic post. I just needed to get that out.

Poor DD was lovely all day (although she didn't sleep much). She is full of cold and snot and goo. Bless her wee smiley self.

WLmum · 15/01/2015 22:15

hales Grin
Serious over sleep here this morning. I normally rely on the dds to wake me up - I was first awake at 7.45 - the time I should be leaving for work! Didn't leave the house til I would normally be at Waterloo and was about an hour late for work. Why couldn't it have been the weekend!!

WLmum · 15/01/2015 22:18

Omg nutella that must have been scary. Thank goodness he was ok in the end. Also - reassurance - you are def not the only parent I know who has been through that!

WLmum · 15/01/2015 22:20

In fact I caught T about to put one of dms pills in her mouth yesterday. Dm says she can't believe she managed to open the plastic pill box. It's so hard as the pills have to he within dms reach but they are now out of sight.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/01/2015 06:53

Goodness nutella! Definitely better safe than sorry.

WL that's my worst nightmare I hate running late!

halestone · 16/01/2015 12:49

Nutella i bet that was scary at the time but it will be one of those stories which you'll be telling forever.

WL, i would have panicked too but at least you got a little sleep in hahaGrin

DN sobbed her heart out today whilst i was dropping her off i felt awful, one of the teachers came and helped calm her down and distract her happily.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/01/2015 18:50

Such a busy week.

Ds' new word of the day is tesco Grin

Had loads of blood taken today and the dc were nightmares at the hospital. The royal Surrey is massive and they'd put the wrong outpatients dept number on my letter Hmm didn't get home with them until 5:30 but dh has hoovered, washed up, tidied and cleaned the bathroom Smile

DeladionInch · 16/01/2015 19:20

R is all about Peppa Pig. And he has spent the entire day in his tutu being a been a (ballerina I assume) Hmm

utopian99 · 17/01/2015 06:55

Hi all, Nutella that would have scared me! Glad he's all fine now. I caught O standing on our bed inspecting the shelf over it and contemplating trying to feed himself my contraceptive pill. Hmm

nursery going well here, no more settling in, just the normal 9.30-12.30 now. He seems to be enjoying it, I get the work time back. I even got to spend a couple of hours with our nct lot this week, as had a rare morning without a million emails from the job on site.

He still has one of the most limited vocabulary on this thread, I suspect, but can count pretty well, trace at least half his letters, and the other day looked at our kitchen black board where dh had written 'ho ho ho' at Christmas, and said 'ho ho ho'.
We've decided that he may well be barely talking by 3, but if he can read and write at least we can communicate that way! Strange child, but I suppose he walked before he learned to crawl, so maybe there's a pattern forming.

Still says no when we ask if he'd like the potty, but has started saying that he'd like the loo. Is this sensible? Has anyone else tried it that way? (I think I remember someone else?)

utopian99 · 17/01/2015 06:57

deladion that sounds cute. Currently we've had an obsession with red clothes for a few weeks now. It's the first colour word he's learnt, which might be part of it.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2015 07:03

Ds only says one word at a time utopian and has no interest in the potty or loo.
