Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

Lovely, nature :)

I hate NYE. We've got some Waitrose party food and a bottle of Prosecco and we'll be in bed by 10 :o

Congratulations Nature!

Is anyone else absolutely overwhelmed by toys from xmas? I think it's worse as S had her birthday just before Christmas but I am struggling to even sort out the bags of stuff she got!! I don't know what to do with it all Confused she's so lucky to get so much but everyone went nuts and we don't have space for it all Blush

TobyLerone · 30/12/2014 21:14

We thought of the space issue before Christmas. We only got her a few toys and on the Amazon wishlist we were requested to make for her we put smallish things and books. And some people bought her clothes. We don't have a huge extended family, so not too many presents :)

For her birthday we've got her a few toys again, my sisters have got her clothes, MIL is getting her a beanbag chair at our request... space is definitely an issue! We were thinking of getting her a trike yesterday but have nowhere to keep it!

We asked for books mainly for Christmas if people asked and clothes for birthday to try and limit the amount of stuff. I did have to buy a new ottoman for the living room though to hide everything away but it does double up as a handy extra seat Smile

Angelesque · 31/12/2014 07:16

Aah Nature that's lovely news. Congratulations again!

BookTart · 31/12/2014 10:06

Lovely news nature Smile

We are drowning in toys too, and it is less than two weeks to her birthday. We haven't even seen her uncles and aunts yet either. I have a grand plan to sort through her tiny baby toys and give some away, then sort her new toys so that she has a box of musical things in one room, wheely things in the biggest room where she can use them best etc. It won't happen though, I'll probably plan it meticulously and then sit on my backside watching Breaking Bad and eating crisps. Again.

She's still got a horrible cough so we're off to the useless GP later. I'm sure they'll tell me it is just a virus, but she's refusing all food now and we can't afford for her to keep doing that, weight-wise. After that it will be our traditional NYE karaoke in the front room (but earlier this year so P can join in), followed by takeaway and lovely booze. I have to say that being able to drink proper amounts is the best thing about night weaning Grin

Happy New Year everyone!

FelixFelix · 31/12/2014 19:09

Book how did the gp go?

S just pulled herself up to standing for the first time and I can see her first tooth coming through too. Better late than never Grin

TobyLerone · 31/12/2014 20:04

Yay, S!

Yey S!

We've attempted our second movie and turned it off. First attempt was American Hustle, I didn't like it. Then was The Heat. Which was rubbish.

So now it's Elementary. Then bed. I'm working again tomorrow

FelixFelix · 31/12/2014 23:55

Toby I'm kind of wishing I went to bed at 10! DP just opened the prosecco and its rank. I'm more of a Lambrini girl myself Grin

Ohbollocksandballs · 01/01/2015 07:58

Can I join? I was in the antenatal thread for a while, and post natal for a few weeks too, under my old name.

DS turns 1 on the 18th jan Smile

AMillionNameChangesLater · 01/01/2015 09:01

We ended up staying awake until just after midnight and watched the fireworks with ds1. He loved them. Then we were up and down all night with him, which wasn't great.

Welcome bollocks! or, welcome back Smile

Ohbollocksandballs · 01/01/2015 09:34

Thankyou Smile

TobyLerone · 01/01/2015 09:37

Happy New Year all. I ended up napping until 11ish then watched the BBC fireworks and a bit of Hootenanny then bed. Fortunately A slept through the fireworks. We are all still full of cold and thoroughly sick of it.

Well done to S felix!

Congrats nature , I'm pleased everything going well so far.

book hope P can get rid of that cough soon, with or without the help of the useless gp.

Hi bollocks!

I am looking forward to taking the decs down now, so we can reclaim the living room briefly before the onslaught of birthday gifts in a few weeks. We have got him a trike, can't wait for him to have a go, although he might not want to go in his pushchair again!

FelixFelix · 01/01/2015 11:34

Hi bollocks! Grin

BookTart · 01/01/2015 13:55

Hi bollocks Smile

We saw in the New Year asleep too. DH had planned an evening of booze and Scalextric, but once we'd had booze we were too tired to stay awake. Rock and roll!

I took P to the doctor yesterday. We saw a new doctor, which was great. He said her chest is clear, but checked her over and said that she has an ear infection. She'll be on antibiotics for a fortnight, but luckily she seems to like them so it might not be so bad. I'm hoping it isn't the same ear infection that she had a month ago and our usual GP didn't prescribe for though. Poor P. I'm also hoping that this might be why her naps have gone to pot, even though she's sleeping well at night.

TobyLerone · 01/01/2015 14:04

Poor P :(
DD1 had an ear infection last year and the GP said they try to.avoid prescribing antibiotics for them as much as possible because research has shown that it only shortens the symptoms by a day and they usually get better on their own. So maybe they've given them this time because it didn't get better on its own? Poor thing.

Oh dear, hope she's better soon book!

S has just got over her cold now. She's still coughing and a bit snotty but seems ok. Annoyingly I've fallen back in to letting her have a bottle of milk at night. Well it's more in the morning really! She will sleep 7pm - 6.30am and wake up a couple of times before 11pm but I just pop her dummy back in and she goes back to sleep. She wakes up any time between 5am - 6.30am and DP has been going to see to her as he's been off work over xmas, but he's been giving her a bottle of milk then she goes back off to sleep until between 8.30am- 9.30am. The past two days she's not got up until 10am!! Shock

I don't know whether I should just start getting up with her at 6.30 or carry on with the milk and getting some more precious sleep. But I have a feeling it might make her slip back in to bad habits. Hmmmm...

BookTart · 01/01/2015 20:35

Yeah, the doctor said that if the infection is in both ears then it is a virus usually, but if just one ear is affected then it needs antibiotics. I'm soooo fed up with her being ill all the time though. Not her fault, obviously, but it makes everything so hard. I've not booked her in for any activities or groups yet, because we miss so many that it hardly makes it worth it. We've got a birthday party at soft play next Sunday and I'm already worrying about it making her ill. Last time we went she got norovirus Confused.

Felix if it isn't affecting her sleep to lie in until 10 then I'd totally keep giving her the milk. I can't imagine getting that much sleep; I thought P sleeping until 6.30 was some sort of triumph!

FelixFelix · 01/01/2015 20:39

Book I've not had this much sleep since I was about 7 months pregnant Shock

Eughhhhhh DP the super annoying Lycra clad cyclist man bought me a road bike and I've just done my first session on the turbo trainer in the garage. Only managed 40 minutes and I feel like I'm going to keel over Grin I'm so unfit!

TobyLerone · 01/01/2015 20:45

You know my feelings on soft play, book, but I'm a mental :o

Felix, 40 minutes is AMAZING!

I worked in a soft play when I was a teenager. The amount of gross stuff I used to find in there was unbelievable. I once had to clean actual shit out of the ball pool Confused
