Oh gosh we have been using johnson's once a week, had no idea it was bad. He seems fine...
I have a question about expressing, I want to start as he is five weeks next week and we are going out for one evening in a couple of weeks. Thinking of doing it once a day in the morning and then feeding the bottle in the evening, that sound ok? To start with will just try the bottle a couple of times during the week but in reality the night we are out it will be needed for one or two feeds. Don't want nipple confusion issues but DH has planned a special treat for me. Also do people pump and dump these days ( after maybe a couple of drinks)?

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 05:48

then when he comes home he jumps straight on the laptop tuning me out

I get that too. We had an nct meet up yesterday where we basically moaned about our other halves. All of them are doing the same annoying things - particularly moaning about being tired. The whinge was cathartic.

fedupofrainydays · 15/11/2014 06:07

Anyone else's baby still waking every 3 hours or less but not then actually feeding much? R will only have one side and then not drain it that well before zonking out or pushing off. I can't help but feel he doesn't need to feed and just waking for sake of it. Tired and want some of these long stretches you others are getting. I've got the oldest baby but seems to one of those who sleeps the least!!

We only wash with water. I make sure I get in all the creases. Johnsons gave ds1 cradle cap! R had mega dry skin but just left it and it's so much better - just dry eyebrows?!?! now.

pebble82 · 15/11/2014 06:09

goats I'm using Johnsons baby bath and in hospital they used mum and me head to toe wash on her. Skin has been fine.

fedup that's exactly how we are. She wakes every 90 minutes to two hours, feeds for fifteen minutes and then falls straight asleep. Maybe once a night she wakes up properly and takes a hour to go back down. It's grim, and not having slept for more than two hours a time for nearly five weeks it's making me go quite weird, but if the alternative is her not going back to sleep easily then I'll take it. Also there's nothing I can do about it. Unless there is something I can do in which case for the love of God someone tell me what it is.

STIGZ · 15/11/2014 07:36

Been using johnsones since week 2, all fine, first i have heard of it not being good? Also used fragrence free baby wipes on bum since day one, no problems to date either.

Oh is on baby & mini tornado duty next saturday, im off out to cinema & then for a few drinks with my best friend, i think he will be fine! He is fairly confident this time, and dd2 is a textbook baby, basically just eating and sleeping! Although i am noticing she is seems to have a wee awake time from 6pm/9pm, just in time for daddy finishing work! This seems to be the most demanding time with regards to the lo's dinner/bath/bed plus everybody is at their most tired, so patience is very thin in all camps!

Looking forward to spending time with my best friend, basically for the past four years we have both been pregnant and have had four kids between us, so nights out have been non existant, we will probably end up chatting about kids all night and slating our oh's Grin

magichandles · 15/11/2014 08:21

When DD1 had get first bath in SCBU they used Johnson's so I don't think it can be quite the work of the devil that people say. We use whatever is on offer, so the Sainsburys one at the moment and E. is having a daily bath at the moment and seems to really enjoy it - no problems with her skin so far either.

Fed up I think R and Lewis sound quite similar L is 8 weeks tomorrow and it has only been last few nights sleeping has improved he may have just turned a corner but a have been trying a few things. I was feeding him every time he stirred now I try and ignore it and I notice he is still sleeping just noisy if he doesn't relax I do feed him but alot of the time I don't need to. I think being small when born there wee tummy can only take small amounts of milk and it easy for them to stay on the same schedule.

BadgerInBury · 15/11/2014 09:29

Bellyrub Hang in there, it definitely gets easier - mainly because you start to feel more confident. Deep breaths, asking for help and this forum will all help keep you sane!

I had an episiotomy and it was sore for a week or a week and a half, calmed down then got sore again for a couple of days as the internal stitches dissolved and everything knitted together.

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 09:36

I started not feeding her every time she woke - not with any plan in mind, I just couldn't be arsed to sit up and do it because I was too tired. Instead I just dragged her into bed with me - at that point she'd always go back to sleep for an hour or so. Now she seems to be doing that extra hour on her own. Be nice if it lasts!

I need to work on day time napping - will start thinking about that after 6 weeks.

Me23 · 15/11/2014 10:14

magic E is gorgeous! What a lovely photo.

We bath v approx x2 a week use a drop of organic lavender baby wash/shampoo mainly for her hair as she throws up a lot on it! It gets quite greasy too her dad says she looks like a little perv lol she does resemble Ritchie from bottom when it's particularly greasy. Grin

V is fast outgrowing her babygros is forgotten how quickly they change I must take more photos I only have one if me and v taken at her birth (my boobs showing) need more family photos.

My boob pain didn't turn into mastitis, I block fed from affected boob for a few feeds and it sorted it out.

What's everyone's plans today? I want to buy some boots as I'm still living in maternity wardrobe of leggings and trainers want to dress up a bit.

FatFlashingLazer · 15/11/2014 10:49

I'm itching to go shopping too Me23 I'm so sick of leggings! When we moved in July I packed away any pre pregnancy clothes that I couldn't wear and now they are in the back of the loft and I really can't be bothered to go through it all...such a poor excuse to buy new clothes but I just would like to feel a bit less casual!

With regard to DTD, my sex drive seems to be returning but I had 2nd degree tear and stitches haven't started dissolving yet I don't think. I also think I have piles...so not feeling too hot down there.

I can't remember who else is on BP tablets, but have you had them reduced yet? My BP is coming done this week and after the morning pills if I stand up to quickly I get quite dizzy as you would with low BP. Think I need to see GP about reducing dose but worried about BP then rocketing again which happened on postnatal ward as they stopped it too soon. Is it expected that BP should come down and then stay down or could we end up taking BP meds forever now?

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 11:11

Belly after my sons birth my episiotomy stitches felt worse before they got better. It sounds like normal healing to me xx

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 11:20

Fed up are you on the FB group? A few of us were chatting about how to get our babies to give us longer stretches of sleep without resorting to letting them cry and seem to have had some success. We now get at least one 4 hour stretch but she just won't settle if DH does the "holding upright after a feed" duty and if he does try she ends up having to come in with me for the last 3 hours - bizarre! Hmm

Lulu298 · 15/11/2014 11:29

Hi guys, just marking my place. We made it!

fedupofrainydays · 15/11/2014 11:55

Ds1 really testing me today. Whinging about everything, doing everything I tell him not to do, pulling furniture onto his foot, poo and wee on the floor and OH has fucked off to the rugby Confused

bumpbangbump · 15/11/2014 11:55

Congratulations lulu, sounds like a tough birth. Glad your boy is here safe and sound.

That's it now isn't it? All had our babies!!!!!

fedupofrainydays · 15/11/2014 11:56

No, not on the fb group - how do I join? How do we know who we all are though as my FB name is my normal name not fedup!!!

fedupofrainydays · 15/11/2014 11:59

Last time I had an episiotomy and third degree tear. I had both antibiotics and painkillers for a while and I took painkillers for a while afterwards just because I didn't want to feel anything!!
I also recommend sitting in a shallow bath each day for 10 mins with a couple of drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil - to help cleanse and heal. Did wonders for me. I had torn into my bottom so was very worried about infecrion from number twos but I didn't get it and swear it was from my religious bathing!

FATEdestiny · 15/11/2014 12:02

Four children, including 6 week old breastfeeding baby. DH working this weekend. It's raining, trying to entertain them all, on my own!

Thank god for XBOX and tablets. I'm honestly not one of those lazy Mums who allows too much screen time (honest!). But for the time being, screen time is a blessing for me.

Errrr2012 · 15/11/2014 12:03

fatflashing I'm still on labetalol but have been reducing it in the last week or so, baby is nearly 5 weeks. With my last pregnancy my bp was also an issue (much worse than this time) and it took two months to come off meds completely. I didn't believe I'd ever be back to normal but it did happen, hence I'm more relaxed about it this time. Have you got a home monitor? I check mine and have a weekly chat with gp to discuss dosage. Sounds like yours needs reducing if you're getting dizzy spells.

Errrr2012 · 15/11/2014 12:06

By the way it sounds like there are some crappy hubbies out there, mine moans a bit but he does his fair share! So I'm lucky in that way. My dd is waking every 2-3hrs so I'm super jealous of you folks getting 4-5hr sleeps!

tattyblue · 15/11/2014 12:10

Would it be possible for me to join the Facebook group?

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 12:11

Me23 - I've got mastitis, it's GREAT. No really. Managed to keep it at bay for 4 or 5 days on my own by massage/hot bath/block feeding etc, but then on Wednesday I woke up with angry red boob and just went straight to the doctors. The lumps are only just starting to shift - that's with block feeding on that boob, expressing from the other one for 2 days rather than feeding from it, loads of massage (painful), and antibiotics. So watch out for it - when it 'goes' it seems to go quite quickly.
