Mrsb awesome news on sleeping baby! Yes the angle you have to prop the cot is quite steep - 30%. Just take care he doesn't slide down the bed and disappear under the covers - this happened with J and scared me into putting him in a sleeping bag. I was convinced I'd suffocated him Blush .

Tonight I'm feeling pretty content. We had a lovely chilly stroll in Pittencrieff park with the dog and the kids, we took some monkey nuts to feed the squirrels which thrilled J as they fed out of his hand, then went to a pottery cafe to make more hand painted Christmas decs. Jonas has learned how to walk backwards and has been laughing like a drain all evening. Its lovely putting them to bed with the sound of happy giggles in your ears. I have a new fluffy onesie perfect for BF in front of the telly, and we have the last season's finale of Game of Thrones or the new series of the Fall, to curl up with. Now Lil is doing a predictable 4 hour stretch I might even have a cheeky wee glass of garnacha. I hope we all have good sleepy nights Wine Wine Wine Wine

Just realised I should be I the November thread!! What an idiot!!!
My due date was in October.. Doh!!!

My brain is mush!

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 20:05

Kirsti they're still in hospital because the wee might is in traction, she's their first so Mum is able to stay in with her and just goes home for showers. Apparently BF a 14 week old in traction is proving very difficult. She's devastated that it might mean the end of feeding Sad but baby is being very brave.

Smooshie85 · 15/11/2014 20:35

Thanks for those recommendations to go to hospital re mastitis turned into a abscess. Was seen by specialist apparently I have mastitis but the lumps are tissue swelling and I have to persevere with antibiotics - my third week with no improvement ! Been back to out of hours gp today because it's worse so different antibiotic to try then back to hospital next week .
This is seriously depressing me now as the pain is taking the pleasure out of BF, I'm very lucky to have a supportive hubby otherwise I'd be in a very different place right now.
goats I hope yours has cleared up and are feeling better

Happytimes31 · 15/11/2014 21:13

Kirsti- thanks, just hoping it doesn't put him off the boob!

Errrr2012 · 15/11/2014 21:26

fatflashing I'm monitoring it myself with my home monitor (you can get them for about £15-£20 in boots). My BP wasn't consistently high, it would rocket randomly so I take it a couple of times a day at home and then had gp appointment to discuss. She was happy that I was competent enough and my BP monitor accurate enough (I've had it for a couple of years so could've been on its way out I suppose) for me to take charge of my readings at home. I know what readings would need a doctors opinion if I needed seeing before my scheduled appointment. I guess it depends how stable your bp is on the care you get. Mine has always been all over the place towards the end of my pregs and in the weeks postnatally which makes it difficult to medicate. If in doubt you should get checked out, esp if your meds need reducing cause you'll need to do that gradually.

sazzlehopes · 15/11/2014 21:43

Evening all. Well N is 6 weeks today and I'm not getting much more than 2.5/3 hours sleep.most of he time it's also because I let the little tyke sleep on me, but that's getting harder now he's bigger as he's tends to roll... However the fancy anglecare monitor turned up today so hoping to put him to sleep on his fri t where he's clearly happiest and not stress about SIDS.

All those dtd-massive hats off to you. I still feel gnarly down there and daren't. My pelvis floor still feels shot to pieces so I want to toughen that up first...

Also those wondering about johnsones products please do read up about sulphates and parabens etc. they are really not nice things so if you can buy without then do. There is much more Eco/ organic choice now and it's not that expensive, especially when you will use so little...you might not find the other stuff too bad now but chemicals can build up over time and it's good not to put extra chemicals into our water supply too... Sorry I'm such an Eco head, I appologise!!!

Missus2ndwife · 15/11/2014 21:57

Evening everyone

Congrats Lulu and welcome to you and Belly to the mamas thread.

Please can I also join the FB thread??

My bubba is 4 weeks tonight and a month in a few days, I still can't believe that I'm his mamma and he's so perfect. I am feeling very blessed. Even through the sleepless nights, the insecurities, the unsureties, stitches, painful vag and my pelvic flood snort I am loving it all.

gunwalloe · 15/11/2014 22:06

errrrr I was getting it checked by the nurse but it was creeping up and by my 6 week check it was awful so I went on tablets last Monday I saw the doc twice last week and am booked in next week. Ive got a home testing machine so am keeping a eye on it daily. I don't have PE? myn was caused by anxiety which came on at two weeks post birth

Bellyrub I do this daily and am getting better at switching of now

me its good to know the tingly scalp wont last its very strange!

MundayCakes85 · 15/11/2014 22:15

Evening all- my mum did a spot of baby sitting so we could go out for dinner and actually eat together, using both hands, sitting down to food that was still warm. Amazing!!
Then bought some condoms and lube romance is definitely not dead but DH is snoring away so maybe we won't be DTD any time soon!!

Errrr2012 · 15/11/2014 22:18

Sorry to hear that gun, I don't know much about anxiety related high bp - mine was severe PE first time and pregnancy induced hypertension this time. Didn't seem to matter if I was stressed out or anxious, my BP did its own thing! As long as you're being looked after I'm sure it will settle in time. New babies are not good for anxiety levels but they get easier little by little so hopefully that'll help.

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 22:41

Sazzle I agree on the Johnsons stuff - Jonas only developed eczema after we started using it at 3 months. Its very astringent. We've just started using it again to give him a bubble bath last month and in less than 4 weeks his eczema is back. I'm not sure what we'll use on Lil when the time comes.

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 22:53

I left pio with the inlaws today and went into town for a whole two hours. Nearly had a wobble on the bus on the way in about leaving my baaaaaby with totally competent people without her mum. Obviously all was fine, especially since I'd expressed enough for a massive disaster so could have two martinis while they gave her bottles. No doubt my boobs will explode at 2am now!

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 22:57

Also, while they dealt with the witching hour screaming, me and boyfriend had a massive snog and grope on the landing. Felt really naughty, ha.

Missus2ndwife · 16/11/2014 01:36

Err what was I saying about loving being a mamma!! Baby had been unsettled since 11pm.... Just gave him a small feed and hopefully I'll have silence for an hour

Rather envious of those with nearby inlaws for babysitting

Me23 · 16/11/2014 02:38

I spent my evening in a&e, my Bp spiked very high at 170/111 so I went straight there. Unfortunately I had to go on my own as OH had to look after the kids. Luckily a friend who lived next to the hospital came and sat with me.

Bp came down a bit 154/93 so was discharged dr thinks I still have chest infection as had a temp too so have been given prescription for more antibiotics.

goats sorry to hear about mastitis hope u feeling better soon. I had it with my second it's horrible.

Errrr2012 · 16/11/2014 03:22

Oh crap me23 that must've bwen scary. 154/93 is still pretty high, do you have a follow up appointment?

MundayCakes85 · 16/11/2014 03:25

Oh Me that sounds awful- glad you're home safely. Take good care of yourself and hope these new meds work.
DTD update- think the surgeon sewed me up too tight. Blush Had to give up pretty quick, DH was very grateful we even tried and baby gave us enough peace and quiet for a bit of kissing and cuddling instead

Sorehead · 16/11/2014 03:39

me- sounds like a horrible night. Hope the antibiotics work their magic soon.

I left DH with DS for a couple of hours tonight to go out for a meal for a friend's hen do. Had my first glass of wine since end of Feb (well, I had two!) It was so nice to catch up with friends and I've not laughed so much in ages! Got home at 10:30-11ish and am just doing a feed now should have pretended to be drunk to get out of feeds and nappies all night

DH is definitely ready to start DTD again, but I'm not so ready. my section scar is still a bit sore, which is a bit off putting, as is the fact I desperately need to tidy 'down there' because DS unexpectedly arrived 4 days before my waxing appointment and it's just not been a priority over the last 4 weeks. I want it to be a bit more groomed for my benefit, not his- I just don't feel sexy with my current overgrown forest!

When I got home he was pestering me, but as mentioned above I'm not in the mood, so we came to a compromise Wink think he liked that I'd washed my hair and had make up on

Sorehead · 16/11/2014 03:41

munday- when they stitched you up, you/DH didn't make the joke about adding an extra one did you? WinkGrin Feel free not to answer, but did you use lube? If not, that may help?

Yes, phew! For those EBF do you swap boobs each feed? Or does it depend on how long the feed was for (I.e whether they got to the hind milk or not) had some green ish nappies so wondering if shouldn't have swapped as then he just had two lots of foremilk.

mrsb87 · 16/11/2014 08:42

happy they say you should wait until they have finished on one boob before transferring. I was swapping too soon and I don't think he was getting enough and getting grisly! It's much easier to let them get on with it Smile

sazzlehopes · 16/11/2014 09:04

Happy defo try and let them fed from one for ages. Even if you feel it's empty - it'll stop the green poo.
We had that trouble and wind/reflux and it seems better since I've been block feeding. I offer the same boob if he grizzles for more food within two hours.
