Also - that pic of Kim kardashian arse makes me want to barf. It's so horrid all oiled up. Guess she got the reaction she's after but it's absolutely vile. (And photoshopped)

Glad to hear motherhood is going well goats

Sorry to hear of issues with prolapsesSad another glamorous element to childbirth! Talking of which my piles have flared upBlush i have gained two external ones, one for each pregnancy, think i will name them ayla & arra after my girls, pains in the assGrin

Im still getting lochia at 5 weeks after birthHmm not a lot but still there, i couldnt imagine dtd until it all has cleared and i am on contraception, i was thinking of getting the coil and it was recommended by my midwife but i was reading up on other peoples experiences and there was quite a few girls who had problems with weight gain/libido/depression & mood swingsSad this has put me off slightly, so think i will just go back on the pill?? Better the devil you know im thinking.

yellow thats bloody horrendous what happned to your friend & her wee baby Shock

MundayCakes85 · 14/11/2014 23:08

Fedup I'm not so much "up for it" as wanting to get back into the swing if things. It's been so long I really feel sorry for DH, he's feeling a bit neglected I think.
Yellow how awful for your friend and her baby Sad

I'm at my wits end! DD now been feeding from me for over an hour!! She'll start to fall asleep so I take her off the boob then she wakes up and cries. Put her on the other one and repeat the process over and over and over. Each time I switch her she seems ravenous searching frantically for the nipple. What am I doing wrong?? Seriously considering giving up and putting her on bottles.

Kirstipops · 15/11/2014 01:06

Is she having a growth spurt maybe Pebble? Sounds like it, with the franticness, my bf counsellor said this was her "sending in her order" to increase my milk supply, so don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong!

pebble82 · 15/11/2014 01:27

I'm not sure. She's 3 weeks old but with her being ill for the first 2 weeks maybe she's catching up. I've had to stop her now. She's fairly settled in the Moses basket sucking a dummy to ay least give my poor nipples a rest!

FlipFantasia · 15/11/2014 01:47

Pebble sounds like classic three week growth spurt. Just get through it and you should have a calm baby back soon (mine seems to spend a day or two snoozing more after a growth spurt...guess it's knackering for her too!).

Sorehead · 15/11/2014 02:08

After a shaky start due to a very tired DH and non settling DS (think he had a sore tummy) resulting in me and DS being banished to the sofa, DS has slept from 10pm and is just waking for a feed now. I put him down at about 11:30 so I've had a decent sleep (compared to last few days anyway!)

On the downside, a spot has snuck onto my chin and his friend is trying to move in on my nose Angry

Bellyrub1980 · 15/11/2014 04:17

sterilising question

Hi all, wasn't sure where to put this so thought you wise ladies may know!

I'm being forced to express due to bleeding nipples :( so I'm faced with sterilising bottles everyday. Bloody palava!!

Im using the avent microwave steriliser and I always remember my sister in law using it. Once sterilised she would place the bottles in the fridge where they would stay sterilised till she needed them.

However, I've read through the leaflet and it seems that they have to stay in the steriliser until to need them to stay sterile... Yet you can keep formula and Breast milk in a bottle in the fridge for 3 days and it remain sterile....??!

So am I doing the right thing but taking it out of the steriliser and storing in the fridge? I hope so because that frees up the steriliser to do other things like dummy's and my Breast pump...

Missus2ndwife · 15/11/2014 04:23

Baby has slept from 11.30 - 3.45! Hurrah!! Granted most of that time was on my chest but I feel like doing a dance for joy.

Unfortunately I never attached his bottle top on correctly so it mostly leaked all over him and now I have no idea how much he fed.

Oh well.

Pelvic Floods!! I crack myself up

Missus2ndwife · 15/11/2014 04:34

And the Kim K pic - omg! Hilarious.

They are so over exposed and really need to disappear now. How exactly did they get famous? Was because she made a sex tape??? Hahahaha

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 04:58

Missus have you seen the unphotoshopped version complete with normal waist and stretch marks? It made me feel much happier Smile

Lil's done another 4 hour stretch. She's getting it!

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 04:58

I've just been woken up - first time since I put her in her crib at 11. Woohoo! I'm loving this phase... but not stupid enough to consider it anything more than a phase. A work colleague sent me a card which said 'don't congratulate or berate yourself too much - remember everything is a phase, even the good stuff' - I really liked that bit of advice,

in laws are down today. I've expressed enough for a bottle which should give me time to get into town for some clothes shopping and a quick lunch using two hands. Funny that boyfriend suggested that I leave them with her and a bottle, but would never have suggested that I leave him with a bottle qnd her for an hour or so of downtime!

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 05:07

Quick question - is anyone using soap type products on their baby yet? Pip is almost 5 weeks and I notice that parts of her are starting to smell a bit. 5 weeks of puking and shitting on yourself and only being washed with water is taking its toll. Should I already have used soap?

RudyTuesday · 15/11/2014 05:08

Fed up you're not the only one, I've got no interest in dtd either. My drive went right up during pregnancy but DP wasn't keen, so we've switched places.

I think it may be due to me being pissed off with him. He's been totally self absorbed lately, I am sitting alone all day then when he comes home he jumps straight on the laptop tuning me out so I have to repeat everything and don't get any conversation back.

RudyTuesday · 15/11/2014 05:13

Hi goats I've not used soap etc yet, baby is also slightly whiffy. But his skin is so delicate I'm reluctant to try stuff. I'd bought a case of Johnson stuff before I found out it's the work of the devil at a ante natal class (another example of something that did me no harm but is a no-no now)

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 05:18

Very wise words Goat good or bad so much IS just a phase. My DH was also v nervous of being left in charge of our first for months! I think J was 4 months before I managed a solo trip to the hairdressers. This time I nip out solo for short jaunts (dog walks) fairly frequently leaving him with both (which is tough, especially after bedtime as if J cries he'd have to attend to him with Lil in tow), even though she doesn't take a bottle, as he's more confident and knows he can settle her by popping her in the ergo. He'll get there.

binkybunny · 15/11/2014 05:21

Rudy I'd also Bern told Johnson's products are a big no, having had my parents use them on me and bought all the range.

I've been using baby wipes and occasionally nappy rash cream when needed and her skin is lovely.

I think like most things, some people have had a bad experience and think it's the work of the devil and others have had good. Also it's not natural ingredients so I think that's where some of the bad press has come from when you can get Burts Bees type stuff.

YellowWellies · 15/11/2014 05:24

No soap or oil yet here possibly in the next month. She'll have full on bubble baths soon enough when I dare bath her with Jonas as he's a big fan of bubbles. That will wreck her skin though Confused . Just make sure any cheesy smells aren't yeast infections as they can easily develop in neck creases and can get horribly raw. This time I just ignored the post birth dry skin rather than putting grape seed oil on, and it resolved in a week. Wish I'd known the wisdom of more benign neglect first time round. Grin

Bellyrub1980 · 15/11/2014 05:26

Would like to say thank you for the advice and reasurrance I was given here the last time I posted. I haven't had time to reply until now. I'm on day 5 and I cdn honestly say the hardest 5 days of my life!! I think I've had about 12 hours sleep in the last 2 days but had literally none before that. (I was in latent labour for 3 days, then induced).

Please say it gets easier?! My mum has stayed over for the last 2 nights to do the night feeds. But quite honestly I'm terrified of doing them on my own again. I just can't sleep when my baby is in the same room as me. I can't stop obsessing over every noise she makes. I end up not sleeping at all and then I can't function.

Anyhoo, besides that problem and my sterilising question I have one of a more personal nature... I had an episiotomy and 5 2nd degree tears. 5 days in and it's still really swollen and sore. Infact it feels a little worse each day. How did your stitches feel after 5 days? I'm getting checked out by midwife tomorrow but was interested to hear other experiences. I expected to feel a fair but better by now.

binkybunny · 15/11/2014 05:28

Aargh just read about the those of you DTD, starting to feel a bit interested but I'm still so sore down there from cut and stitches it's going to be at least Christmas before I let DH near! Shock

binkybunny · 15/11/2014 05:31

belly 4 weeks and still sore. DH has said he can't see any stitches anymore (I had to get him to look, I'm too squeamish) but I'm sure there must be some. I'm going to the Drs on Monday to get it checked as I also seem to have developed a sore down there that keeps bleeding and stinging.

mrsb87 · 15/11/2014 05:31

Yaaay 10:30 - 4 sleep! He clearly needed it after the foul mood he was in yesterday.
rudy we have those moments too, it's bloody selfish and after a couple of times repeating myself dh gets the attitude!
goats were using a 'mum&me' emollient bath wash as apposed to a soapy bubbly one. Dylan gets quite dry skin and it seems to be helping.

ohthegoats · 15/11/2014 05:42

We use organic shampoo and shower gels etc, and it would only be a tiny bit on her bum and behind her ears. Definitely not Johnson's, and likely only this once then nothing again for a month.
