Thanks Yellow. I will do

waves at all the other night feeders xx

Errrr2012 · 18/11/2014 04:35

bump you're early days yet aren't you? It does get easier, little by little, but it takes time. I go to bed in the evening when dh has the baby for a couple of hours and then I get whatever other sleep I can during the night. I'd struggle without my evening nap even if I only get an hour or so. It won't be like this forever I promise!

fedupofrainydays · 18/11/2014 06:17

Bad night here. R has a cold and wind. Bad combo. He's due his 8 week injections tomorrow but not sure he should if he has a cold??

ohthegoats · 18/11/2014 06:57

Urgh, my run of good nights is over. I was out (pip was with me) until 11, so feeling until gone 12, then awake again at 2, then she tried again qt 3.15. No chance, too tired to sit uo - dragged her onto my chest and we both slept until just now. Wo she's not necessarily hungry, just wants comfort. Also wondering if she's cold - room hovers around 13 degrees - going to get some sleeping bag options in 2.5 and 3.5 tog today to see if that helps.

Sorry bump confused you with someone else I think. The same advice applies though. It just feels like it'll last forever when your in it. Mine is 5 weeks and I was up 4 times, managed to convince my self she had slept for 4hrs except I forgot I was up for an hour between 4 - 5!! ??

STIGZ · 18/11/2014 08:23

A bad night here alsoSad dd1 not well, coughing her guts up all night, which sends her into a panic so she cries every time this happens, dd2 was unsettled from 4 till 7 then i finally nodded off about half 7 then dd1 wakened at 7.45am. No nursery for dd1 as she is unwell, i cant leave the house as she has the runs aswell, dont think coffee is going to cut it today, wish it was acceptable to drink wine all day because i really would if i could Hmm seems it was bad night for lots of us, wishing you all good luck for getting through the day Smile

Happytimes31 · 18/11/2014 08:46

Anyone using dummies just at night to deal with screaming crying when put down (after lots of winding) but woken up I think by wind and wanting to chew hands. Was an anti dummy person but...

fedupofrainydays · 18/11/2014 08:51

Sounds like it wasn't a good night all round.
stigz I sometimes want to crack open the wine at lunchtime but resist til gone 7 pm.
We all have colds but after one coffee I'm feeling just slightly more with it. My nespresso machine was a birthing present to myself. My husband got me wine. Not sure which I prefer but both survival necessities at the mo!

Pregnantagain7 · 18/11/2014 09:21

happy I've been thinking about it but I think I've decided no at least for the time being. R is struggling to settle himself and it can take a lot of cuddles and rocking to get to sleep. I'm not anti dummy at all dd1 had one but it turned into a bit of a nightmare. It helped her sleep really well when she was tiny but by the time she was 4 months she used to wake everytime it feel out about 10 times a night. By the time she was 8 months I'd had enough and decided to get rid of it which was tough I felt really bad for taking something off her that I'd given her.

I've spoken to other people who have said their babies were fine with them so maybe I just got a baby who loved it too much! I swore I would never use one after last time but at 4 in the morning when he won't settle and I'm up in a couple of hours with the others if there was one in the house I would have used it!

I found they were all much more content once they could get their hands in their mouths just can't remember at what age they can do it?! (Without punching themselves in the eye! Grin)

mrsb87 · 18/11/2014 09:28

Dylan is terrible for weeding his little mitts out of his swaddle and trying to get his hand in his mouth, more often than not he smacks himself awake! And if by some miracle he gets it in he loses its and starts crying. Silly bean!

YellowWellies · 18/11/2014 09:33

Goats we like a cold bedroom too. 2.5 bags are good down to 16c, 3.5 down to 13.5c (I think or 13?). Colder isn't recommended, but I'm dubious - I lived in Finland and babies were put outside to nap in temperatures down to -20c! (in full down suits). I can imagine Porcito's local policeman having an apoplexy at the very thought! Grin

fatpony · 18/11/2014 09:43

Goats our room hovers around 14 degrees and M is still too wee for sleeping bags, plus I've just got him back into a swaddle which you cannot use with a bag I think. I layer up those cellular blanket things with a big flannel blanket on top. I did feel bad the other day - I'm in long pjs and winter duvet.

I wonder if you can get warmer pjs for babies in our age range. We've been given a couple of sets but on,y for 3-6 months...

Errrr2012 · 18/11/2014 09:47

fat I put a cardi on so dd's shoulders don't get cold at night. She wears a vest and babygrow too. Cellular blankets to tuck her in.

STIGZ · 18/11/2014 09:52

Housewife question: is it safe to put grill tray & racks in the dishwasher?

ohthegoats · 18/11/2014 10:12

Pip is in a vest, grow and a swaddle blanket plus a quarter folded blanket, so 4 layers. I stuck my hand in her layers last night and it didn't really feel snuggly.

Mothercare and jojo today for bags - she's just big enough. If her head ends up being too small I'll safety pin the hole smaller.

Also need to get a pair of swim pant things - starting a swim class on Friday at a warm hydrotherapy pool. Exciting.

Errrr2012 · 18/11/2014 10:31

goats I'm jealous of the swimming! Enjoy! No swimming for us, not possible with one mummy plus baby and toddler, it was so different first time round. Need to clone myself!

sazzlehopes · 18/11/2014 10:32

We too like a cold bedroom and have the window open. I'm with you yellow... I've been to Sweden lots and they always let their babies nap outside, even in snow! It's supposed to be very good for them!
goats we have a 2.5 tog and it seems fine to me. You can get long sleeved ones too if you think you need it.

ohthegoats · 18/11/2014 10:35

I've seen the sleeved ones, which, might be best for pip - her arms HAVE to be out to avoid strops.

sazzlehopes · 18/11/2014 10:43

We too are part of the massive melt down gang if I even think about swaddling!! Flail those arms!

goats I bought one from here for Dylan. We're starting water babies on the 30th, super excited about it!
I got given quite a few grobags from my brother and SIL so I need to sort through those this weekend.

binkybunny · 18/11/2014 11:16

We're having a run of bad nights here too and two bad days. I'm currently sat with an unusually quiet baby but the writhing around is making me think tears are not too far away (Thats from both of us!). Also think it's wind, have now started with gripe water instead of infacol but she actually seems worse. How long does it take to work?

Pregnantagain7 · 18/11/2014 11:21

Swimming is such fun with them when they're babies. I thought you had to wait until after vaccinations or is that not the case anymore? I was told that with dd1 which 9 years ago maybe advice has changed.

I've started putting r in a half swaddle so wrapping under the armpits so arms are free. I think that it's recommended to stop doing a full swaddle after 6 weeks as the risks of SIDS increases slightly.

After me saying r struggles to settle himself to sleep I've just put him in his chair with no rocking and he's now snoring!

fedupofrainydays · 18/11/2014 11:57

Yes stigz I do.

I love baby swimming - can't wait to take R probably January term. I've just got ds1 a pre school swimming place too so it's all about the swimming!

ohthegoats · 18/11/2014 12:38

Cool, thanks mrsb.
