Phew, had a hectic couple of days and everyone popped by the thread to update! Hi again to Marne, Rom and Gothic....
Friz, hope you are all feeling better. Have posted on the other thread. Hugs for you all...

Caddy, sounds like your mum was just what you needed eh? I reckon that when she goes home you'll be upset but her having got stuff sorted will stay with you and I bet you'll really benefit. Does that make sense??

I was working at a composting conference on Friday and luckily took DP and Kiah with me as was worried about getting home for bedtime feed...well, it was statistically the worst day for traffic (according to Radio 1) and we only made it to Ashbourne! Checked into a lovely pub for the night and Tilly stayed at my parents. Unfortunately (for them, not us) Tilly was sick twice. Bit of a bug I reckon as her best buddy was puking too.

Our house is on the market!!! We had a second view of the barn and I am completely in love with it. The main problem is that it only has the living room and dining kitchen so we lose out on downstairs space. It does have an entrance hall tho.....and the location is amazing. Another plus point is that we can replace the bathroom and kitchen and then they will be exactly as we want them.

Seeing a couple more today but they are at the top of our budget and I reckon they will need some work too.

Frizombie · 22/10/2006 19:51

Wow Fab LL, that's great news can we come for coffee when you move
Ashbourne's an odd place isn't it? very upmarket in some places and run down in others, in middle of fab countryside tho!

Astro, how's it going with the outlaws

Uni, have you been working? or just enjoying life?!

Gothic, hope your week ahead isn't too hectic

Hi Munz, Caddy, Rom, Chelle et all

Mad busy day yesterday- colapsing and recovering today! compost conference sounds interesting, are you a compost queen? I have a worm bin that needs digging out again on my jobs list in teh garden.
yesterday I was organising a hall full of unicyclists! eek. good fun tho and I got to play hockey again which was nice. boy behaved brilliantly being baby sat by a few other people at the event while his parents charged around. he had a ride with daddy on a unicycle too, his first uni ride since birth,or since I was 7 month pg.
Anyone see the saturday telegraph artcle with my pic accompaniying? apparently the articles a bit pants.. I was too busy to go and buy a copy.
Have just ebayed a play pen, hope to collect it during teh week.Boy still not quite crawling, but starting to bum shuffle! oh no... more tummy time needed I guess.

laundrylover · 22/10/2006 22:33

kiah asleep on lap so awkward typing!
uni, some babies do just bum shuffle tho and are often late walkers as they can get around so fast. kiah hates tummy time so i don't bother.

not a compost queen - was doing funding workshop. my compost bin is fab tho!! kiah was also a big hit and was photographed riding a rolypig(google it, you'll want one!).
friz, you can come for a barbie!! stayed at red lion in hognaston.

Astrophe · 22/10/2006 23:06

LL, amazing, we ate at the Red Lion last night.

Hi all, inlaws gone , my folks are here now, but leaving on Thurs and wont see them for a year so making the most of them.

Frizombie · 23/10/2006 07:07

Crikey Astro, your racking n stacking them
about not seeing them for a year tho....you've all got web cams tho haven't you?
about the same pub too!

Uni, no sorry hon, didn't see it, if I get time later, will try and see if your online anywhere tho?? they should have it online still maybe?

LL I'll take you up on that next year

So anyone else in Derbyshire get the joys of the 4.44am powercut?? set all the alarms off on our close, = dd1 and dd2 awake, as they're on that side of the house and it was DARK, scarey.....tried to sleep with dd1 for an hour to quieten her and let dh get a bit more sleep, as when she went quiet, so did dd2......gave up at 5.45 and 6am, lo the damn power back on.....have done tip of the day to take a torch/lantern to bed with you in case of such instances.

hi, everyone, good to catch up on the news.
well its been so hectic here so have had to neglect mn a bit, had a few cahnces to lurk but never seem to have enough time to post!
lucy is 7 months now and getting big, she was 10lb 20z at birth and is now 16lb 6oz so apparently she isn't as big as expected at this age, which is probably a good thing otherwise she'd be ahuge lump!
i went back to work on the 16th of this month and actually seem to have more time than i did when i was at home. in theory that means i'm more organised, i.e dressed before lunchtime.
my mum has lucy on monday and friday and she goes to nursery the other 3 days, but my mum either has to drop her off or pick her up as i either start at 6.45a.m or finish at 10p.m, and dh not usually back in time to collect before nursery shuts at 6p.m.
loving work its nice to have some time to be vicki and not just mum to kier, william and lucy, but beleive it or not actaully considering number 4!!!!!!!! would love another girl but not sure thats a good enough reaason to have a baby?
the boys adore her still and she loves ds1 she cracks into huge smiles whenever he enters the room and puts her arms up for him to pick her up now, which is so cute.
shes rolling around the floor and making an effort to crawl but mostly goes backwards, not worried though as neither of the boys crawled really , ds1 walked at just over 9 months and ds2 bottom shuffled and then suddenly one day at about 11 months just stood up and walked, to the surprise of everyone in the room. no teeth either yet, but lots of dribble.
i love this stage and can't beleive how quickly the last 7 months have gone.

lets hope that now we have all got a bit mroe organised that we will have time to catch up on each others news.

best wishes to you all and speak soon.

vicki

Lizzylou · 24/10/2006 09:29

Hi all

Had a quick scan thru everyone's news....have been bit scatterbrained due to manic boys!

Can't believe your boy has 5 teeth Unisarah! We have two here and are waiting the others with trepidation!

Vicky, wow, another 10lb+, hurrah! Everyone treats us a bit like freaks here when they hear Ben was 10lb 11oz!

Friz at your news, don't know what to say really.

LL, very jealous at your barn...is that in the northwest? We are in a new build and whilst it is practical I crave some character! Was at my Best mates barn yesterday and it was lovely!

Lots of commando crawling here...like a soldier inching their way thru the scramble nets!

To all of those back at work, how do you manage it? I have started selling Usborne books in the past month or so and have found it hard re-awakening those braincells...enjoying it though and lots of free books for christmas which will come in handy as we are sorely missing my wage!

Anyway, hope all are well, Munz your stats are fab, as ever......my update:

Lizzylou Benedict born 4th March weighing in at 10lb 11oz (please don't ask about the birth...still reeling!!!!)xxx

Frizombie · 24/10/2006 12:03

Lizzylou, sounds like your birth wasn't all it can be cracked up to be you all sound fine though, so thats great what a whopper!!
We're in a newbuild too, have to say I hate it with a passion, which is why we're moving as soon as I get my way! next year hopefully.

Vicki! 4 you go for it girl! so how's the land of midwifery again then? do you all do 12hr shifts? was it a difficult adjustment going back now you have 3? had to grin at your kids names, william and lucy, that's my SIL and her ds

So dd2 has managed to land the fireguard on her head this am, thought she had it previously figured out, ie don't grab it as it will move and tip up, she seems to have this, but has now decided its a good idea to try and climb it
thus she now had two red lines on her forehead, ho hum.....dh won't fix it to the wall, as we're moving next year, and he doesn't want something else to repair....if we take it away it exposes rock hard marble fireplace, I think we'll stick with it. Sure cause n effect will kick in soon.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 24/10/2006 17:37

Friz, I had totally forgotten the crawling and grabbing anything phase (how? DS1 is only 2 1/2!)..............this is a better workout than the gym!!!!

Hope DD2's forehead has recovered.....

Astrophe · 24/10/2006 20:20

Hi Lizzy, Vicky and everyone else. Friz, thanks, I love those threads. Have just posted a rave Sydney review - my city should pay me for marketing!

Still having an awful time with my boy's sleep. Didn't feed for 5 nights and we had 2 hours screaming each night. So last night I fed at 11 before he woke, and then he woke every 3 hours, so back to square one . I am so exhausted, have a nasty cold, and am a bit terrified that I will completely fall apart when my parents go. So watch this space!

laundrylover · 24/10/2006 22:01

Wow, more people popping on to the thread!
Vikki, am amazed at your organisational skills, I can barely get any work done but that's more due to MNing. Kiah was 16lb 2oz at a rare weigh in today so has nearly caught Lucy up from a 7lb 8oz start!! What a fatty!

Astro - what a shame you didn't go to the pub on the previous night, it would have been great eh? We are getting terrible sleep too and I'm really feeling the effects so sending lots of tea and sympathy.

Lizzy/Friz, yes the barn is in Lees, near Oldham and does feel a lot better than a new build. They rejected our cheeky offer of 205k today but then we upped it to 210 and haven't heard back......

My news is that my cousin who had her first in Feb is due again in May(she is one of 8 tho!!) and my friend in Devon had her twins by section last week but then had a coronary clot and was in intensive care. All three doing well now tho, babies were 5lb3 and 3lb8. Now she has to have drugs for the clot tho so may well have to stop feeding her breast milk....she just needs to get better I reckon and get them all home in a few weeks.

Frizombie · 24/10/2006 22:15

LL at friend, very good job they found it tho, and very glad for her and her family she's ok and on the road to recovery, phew.

Good luck with the house bet its yours!!

Astro, glad you enjoyed the thread sure you'll be fine when mum goes, is ds eating ok during the day for you now? just wondering if he's still hungry at night? thinking back my friends ds used to do a similar thing and she cured it by giving him porridge for supper at about 7.30pm, then he'd go thru until 6, might be worth a shot??

OP posts:
laundrylover · 24/10/2006 23:01

Friz, yes she is very lucky I think as they say no long term problems. She has had a hard time as has a 6 year old and then had lots of miscarriages before paying for IVF for the twins (she is over 40). She has moved from London to Devon to be near family so not sure when the family will venture north again! Will have to just see the twins via email.
How is your cousin bearing up? Have you seen her recently?

vickiyumyum · 25/10/2006 09:29

it is difficult fitting in work and everything else, especially now the boys are at the age that they do clubs after schools and weekends so i just seem to spend all my 'free time' sat in a car ferrying kids about!

not everyone works 12 hours shifts, but i do so i can get my full time hours in in a shorter amount of days. i feel i miss out wenough by working full time hours but at least i have 4 days a week free, i have to work full time for a few months so thaT I DON'T HAVE TO PAY MY MATERNITY PAY BACK, but will prob cut down after 3 months if i can.

it is alovely job, but lucy seemed so huge after coming home from working with all the new borns, alomost felt like they were too small to handle like it did when i first started!

hope everyone is well.

UniSarah · 25/10/2006 16:17

boy sounds like such a lump at 18lb 11oz last time he was weighed and that was nearly a month ago! Juat been talking about work- i have a full w/end work on 4th and 5th Nov.. trying to work out vehicles and power useage with teh site manage this aftrenoon while boy dribbled on my knee and tried to chew my collar bone.

vickiyumyum · 25/10/2006 20:18

boys are nearly always bigger than girls, U.S so don't worry, my ds2 was a lump compared to lucy in terms of weight but looking abck at the piccies of him he wasn't that big, obviously got heavier bones!
its scary to think we were all sat here wistfully thinking of our maternity leave and it seems not so long agao and now we are mostly back at work, starting work or thinking about starting work, just where does the time go?
before we know it we'll be fighting off boyfriends and girlfriends and worrying about rising uni costs and helping them find houses.

Frizombie · 26/10/2006 09:47

VYY don't even go there dh has already told one of dd1's male friends off the other day for not accepting her hug, had he accepted it of course then dh would have told him off for encouranging his little dd he keeps saying he's going to be grilling any prospective BF's like the chaps in BadBoyz2 (if any of you have seen that?)
You'd have to pay it back if part time? that's ridiculous.....

Uni, hurrah for work! was it ok doing it with ds in tow??

LL how's the house going?? new offer accepted?
also thanks for asking here's the update (copied n pasted from Feb thread)

Hope no one minds me posting this next bit, but just wanted to let you all know that cousins ds's autopsy was yesterday, results not been told to family yet tho?
Funeral is confirmed for next Wed (dd1's birthday ) so won't be at home with dd1 for her birthday (dh is taking day off work to have kids so mum and I can go to funeral).....as funeral is 4.5hrs south in driving terms....so will get dd1 up at 6am, give her presents then mum and I will go and spend day with the family, I figure dd1's main celebrations will be at her party at the weekend anyway, and my cousin needs all the support in the world

So that's it really TBH I don't think its even sunk in yet for her and won't for sometime, from what I've read on other threads on here, it takes years of grieving to 'get over' something like this and you never really forget do you?

Anyway enough of being for the day, how's about this for a laugh, dh arrived home last night and announced he's giving up his building work during the week to be an Author......I know we run the events at weekends as well, but we don't earn enough to survive on from them needless to say after long discussion, he's not giving up work just yet...men!

OP posts:
vickiyumyum · 26/10/2006 11:09

big hugs to your cousin!

i wouldn't wish that on anyone.

i'm sure your dd won't mind, at that age they worry about the party and see that as their birthday, or mine did/do anyway.

big hugs to you to!

Friz, good luck with finding the CD. My thoughts will be with on Weds and I'm sure that DD1 will still have a great birthday.
Friends of ours were at a funeral this week and the man's son, who is 6, had picked a song to play and the crem played the wrong one. He was really upset, understandably.

No news on our latest offer - perhaps they were too insulted! No-one wants our house either. BTW it's the only house on rightmove in Mossley for 152k if you want a nosy!!!

Frizombie · 26/10/2006 21:42

Obviously onto rightmove straight away or maybe I'll just go and eat the vanilla cheesecake lurking in the fridge instead......
Damn electricity's been out 4 times today, and can I or any of the neighbours get hold of the elecky board people.....grrrrrrrrrr....no wonder me pc's knakd........
Have joined Gym tonight, was plesently surprised by my lack of weight, not as big a porker as I thought
