Ok girls here it is!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
laundrylover · 04/10/2006 17:12

Strawberry is one of the foods likely to cause reactions according to the Eczema Society, along with Kiwi, sesame, eggs etc. Tilly reacted to all of these to varying degrees - egg made her legs bleed, strawberry made her red and kiwi she can only eat with a fork! Anyway she loves strawbs and the reaction never lasted long. same with hummus. eggs we have started to introduce recently altho she has always been fine with cakes etc.
sorry no capitals as am massaging mastitis - again ....the saga continues!!

Astrophe · 04/10/2006 17:23

friz, at you big grown up girl. My local pool doesn't do kids only lessons until 5 years! until then i would have to get in the pool, which is impossible with baby in tow. its a pain 'cause i want her swimming before we go back to aust 9years away, but still...). might have to send dh on sat mornings. much easier for him as he doesn't have to wax before he goes

Strawberries are on the list of no-no foods in aust and you're not supposed to give them until 12 months cause of the high allergy risk. Likewise egg white, and no cornchips, peanut products, popcorn or marshmallows until after 2 or 5 , depending on who you ask!

LL, the floor is laminate so easy enough to cean really...just having a whinge! What do you mean you need to get you act together? I know some days if i work hard to be organised and do the things i know will help me, i do feel better. but other days i feel rotton no matter what i do. i don;t think its that simple, so go easy on yourself

the hv came today and weighed the lad and, although he had (allegedly) lost weight last time, he has now miraculously put on 600g in 2 1/2 weeks. we weighed him 3 times to make sure it was right. So now hes 9kg exactly, which is 19.13lb for all you old-school english ladies

'scuse the typeing, am feeding so only one hand.

Astrophe · 04/10/2006 17:26

LL - ditto with the no capitals.

um, didn't mean to put '9 years away', just 'years away'. Crikey, if I was worrying about her being able to swim within the next 9 years you would all know i was mad for sure

UniSarah · 04/10/2006 21:00

Did wonder if it was strawbs making him red, but had same effect with raspberry and peach all from same manufacturer tho. I looked at teh ingrediants and they don't appear to share anything but FF and stabilers like guar gum. Ho Hum, will try yog and see what colour he goes.
Twas texture causeing teh problem with his veg, today it was all smooth and pureeish and he ate it fairly happily.
Our bike trailer is brilliant, really coming in handy now. Its allowing me to KNOW how long it will take to get to places or back home, unlike waiting for buses. Wednesdays are bit busy with baby sign in teh morning and tresure baskets in teh arvo, nice to know I can get boy home again in between for lunch and a nap.

Frizombie · 04/10/2006 21:01

Astro, we have people at our pool from Derby, as its the nearset pool in the region to offer lessons, so you could pop her name down here if you so fancy? I also saw an advert for Breadsall Priory offering lessons there too the other day, which is a bit nearer you??

LL/Astro/Uni, I never knew that knew about egg reactions, and tomatoes too in some people, but strawbs they're in loads of from 6mth stuff!!

Uni, sorry I meant to ask before, but was rushing..this study, whose it for then? a uni thing/social services/hospital? is it at home?

OP posts:
laundrylover · 05/10/2006 10:33

Uni, I wouldn't worry about being observed 'cos you are Supermum!!! You put me to shame with all your activities. Tilly was a real puree lover which is what made me go for BLW this time so we'll see if Kiah is any better an eater as she grows.....
Astro, sorry about the 'pull myself together comment'! I was having a bad couple of days with thrush and mastitis at the same time and feeding was a nightmare. I get very frightened at the thought of having to give up bfing as I think that when I am very down it's the only thing that stops me walking out IYSWIM? Anyway boob cleared with Ibruprofen and lots of combing (hope no-one peeped thru the door glass last night!) so feeling much better. Also DP has been crap at childcare meaning when he pops back for lunch and a bf (Kiah, not him) he has never changed her nappy etc. I've put her name down for one day at nursery but for the time being he will have to pull his socks up.

Sorry for big rant so early in the morning - just needed to off load before I tackle a nasty Lottery application form.

Frizombie · 05/10/2006 20:42

LL your always welcome to rant, that's what we're here for, hope the application went well!
Glad to hear boobs feeling better today hon, seems so pants that you keep getting the probs back time and time again
So has everyone gone quiet after yesterday then?!
Good news here, cousins lo is out of his Greenhouse in SCBU, he's just under a heater now, so they're finally getting more contact with him, he should be allowed to move to a hospital closer to home next week, hurrah!!

  • PIL are back so no time to talk - already loosing the thread
Frizombie · 05/10/2006 20:53

Munz, we're here for you babe!! talk when you get chance......

Caddy, same goes for you mate, saw your note on the other thread, talk to us, there must be something we can do to help?? {{{{Big Hugs}}}}}

OP posts:
Astrophe · 05/10/2006 23:37

LL, was not offended or anything, just want you to be kind to yourself!

PILs arrive tomorrow, and have just finished organising their room and cleaning the house, setting up DS's new cot, assembling stair gate only to realise it doesn't fit etc etc. Am now going to stagger to bed. Hope the kids sleep.

Prob wont be around much for the next week or so - will try to do a quick lurk and 'hi' every now and then.

wish me luck...

Frizombie · 06/10/2006 09:23

Good luck Astro!

OP posts:
UniSarah · 06/10/2006 09:31

LL hardly supermum, just more interested in some things than others, the kitchens a tip & I havn;t vacumed for at least a week.
The observations are of boy not me, but its rather strange at teh mo. We are helping out a Play theapy student. each student on the (degree) course has to observe a small child over the course of a year. She thought Boys age would be interesting as they develop so much so fast in the next year, mobility, language, imagination etc . Over the months I'll get her to come along to mums and tots and stuff like that with us but thought we would start out at home. Now we've done one I think it might be easier away from home ...

Boy goes into his own bedroom tonight! wish us luck. hes had the screaming ad-dabs the last 4 nights at 11pm... I've droped his late feed and hes not happy about it.I've dropped it now becasue teh 1st 2 nights screaming were becasue he was over full and had belly ache after that feed. DH is having to spend 10 mins holding him and rocking to get him calm enough to go to sleep. really not sure the HVs idea of cry for 5 calm for 2 repeat will work, takes much longer than 2 to calm him down if hes been having a paddy for 5. He has to go into his own room so we can turn the radiators on.

Frizombie · 06/10/2006 09:33

Hi Uni!! sounds like your doing well with the cc, we really must drop that last feed soon too....next week I think....keep it up hon, I'm sure after a few more days he won't bother waking, good luck with his own room

OP posts:
UniSarah · 06/10/2006 16:07

Its hardly controled crying! more like I try for 5 mins to get him to keep his dummy, he cycles between crying and breifly calming then crying again in 30 second cycles. then DH picks him up for a rocking session with boy alternatly screaming and sucking daddies finger till calm enough to swap for dummmy , so far thats taken about 10 mins each time.
WIll be interesting to see how he does in his own room, he may be less distrubed by us going to bed and it mght be good thing. Not looking forward to getting him to drop the middle of night feed in a few weeks time. Dh is adament that boy doen't need it, and is probadly right. BUT dh is better at calmig him down in that situation so needs to be done when DH is willing to have some broken nights.
Must go and clear up boys room so teh cot will fit in later.

laundrylover · 07/10/2006 18:21

Just saying hello....
Girls full of cauliflower and chickpea cheese and playing happily - DP at England footie match!
Going to get them in their PJs and then watch Galapogos (probably in a haze of cauliflower farts!)
We went to see a house today, which is our ideal house but in a bad location.....hmmmmm....

Astrophe · 08/10/2006 00:12

Going a teeny bit mad already, but am ok

Only a bit cross that DH skulks off and reads the newspaper when he's had enough, leaving me to carry on conversations with HIS relatives, and to feed/change/tame children. What is it about men???

Staggering to bed now.
G'night.

coppertop · 08/10/2006 21:53

Just dropping in to say hello. I tried to keep up with the old thread but by the time I'd caught up with the posts you'd all gone and added a load more.

For stats purposes dd arrived 2 days early after being induced for supposedly being huge and a risk for shoulder dystocia. I didn't get my much-wanted epidural because the useless MW wouldn't believe I was in labour until dd's head appeared. Dd was actually just 8lbs 4oz.

Quootie - We seem to be doing BLW by accident. When dd was allowed solid food at 6mths she just started grabbing it off the plate and feeding herself. If you've ever read any of my posts on the food threads about ds1 and ds2 you'll know why it's such a shock.

I hope everyone's okay.xx

Frizombie · 09/10/2006 17:21

Hey coppertop its great that you've got an eater

Uni, lol well you sound like your in control of it all and tbh that's kinda my version of cc how's it going/gone?

LL, can we get a pic of the house/link?? its soo annoying when you see your perfect gaff and its in the wrong place or you can't afford it (mines usually both!) ho hum eh!
Chickpea cheese sounds nice, might do that for dd's here, is it just what it sounds like??

Uni, keep on smiling hon, if nothing else you'll be able to get a great job in customer service by the end of it all don't know why men do that but they do.......

Huge achievement for dh and I on Sat, we managed to get all the kids to the cinema to see Hoodwinked, without a single scream and yeah! haven't been to flicks in ages, dd2 spent most of pic eating things/me and trying to stand up either on floor in front of me, or on my legs, so she could oggle the kids behind us

She's got a really bad bum tho, and still no teeth, put lots of pampers bed mats on floor this afternoon and left her nappyless, and she still crawled off to the one space with no mat on it for a pee babies eh!

progress report from chez uni, operation own room 4 nights in. method used- cc- controlled cuddling.

night1, boy yelled and whinged and screamed in between sucking daddies finger for about 3 hours 12-3am! however he then slept till 8am. I was awake at 7 with one HUGE boob.
night2- boy slept through from 7.30pm to 6.30 am , hurrah.
Night3 - boy went to bed late as we were out, then slept 9pm- 2.30, woke, whinged and yelled a bit while sucking my finger for half and hour then slept again till 8ish.

So we have dropped both night feeds at same time as moving room- oops, wasn't quite how I meant to do it, but he clearly is physical capable as he slept through on night 2. Its seems the late feed awakening has been promted by us going to bed, with out that he dosn't wake at 10 or 11. I guess now hes on a reasonable ammount of solids thats made a difference too.

I'm knackered today . but thats coz I went for a long ride (10 mile ish) on Dartmoor yesterday, got VERY wet, fell off loads as V windy , bad visability and I'm out of practise at riding down rocky trails. DH and boy went for a short walk and then to play with the DW and DD of the chap I was riding with.

Frizombie · 10/10/2006 08:48

Uni Mountain biking per chance?
Congrats on the moving room and dropping that feed, your an inspiration to me, as soon as dh is back next week (he's on assorted odd hours this week, working 7am-10pm today and tomorrow ) we shall give it a go too!

chellebelle · 10/10/2006 12:15

Hello all! Glad to hear boys' own room is going well Uni - we've had four - count them! - four full nights sleep now!!! She's gone from 7.30 ish til at least 6.50 every night. I think that at last (for the moment) we seem to have cracked it.

She has also, at last, discovered that she can crawl forward for things that she is allowed as well as things she isn't. She spent a week or so only crawling forward when there was something she wasn't allowed in front of her like a cup of tea or a pen but she has now realised that she can crawl from one room to another so if she gets upset while I'm in the kitchen she can now crawl to me yay!!!

Have had a browse of the feeding threads and we appear to be doing both BLW and pureed stuff (well packets of cow & gate food anyway). It means that she can easily switch between the two nowadays.

Can't believe she's 7 months old already - or that I'm still enjoying her so much. She really has a knack of making people smile, like when she's been the stroppiest, clingiest little madam in the world and has nearly had me in tears she always brings me round in the end just with one of her sloppy kisses and a giggle. Kids eh?! Who'd have em?!

laundrylover · 10/10/2006 15:48

Ra-ra-ra - fingers in my ears about babies sleeping through!!!!
Can you copy and paste this to link to my dream house??? Comments welcomed - we also need to check whether we can go up into the loft in the future to add some value....
www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-8486704.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
Uni, smiling at thought of you wobbling over the moors!!
Friz, just chuck some chickpeas in your cauliflower cheese - actually would be less monotone with broccoli but I had a cauli in.
Coppertop, welcome back! Are you other kids crap eaters?? Tilly is pathetic and Kiah is already showing her up! She ate Tilly's cheese and onion pie today and had broccoli and stilton soup yesterday on bread.
Any other babies turned into poo factories since weaning??? At least 4 a day - yuk...

chellebelle · 11/10/2006 09:36

Sorry LL! Serves me right for posting about emily going through - knew I shouldn't have counted my chickens - she woke up at 10.30 and didn't go back off til 12.05!!! She then only went through til 6.20.

Hey ho - hopefully it's because she had her milk from a cup and not me last night cause I was at college so she probably didn't have as much as she normally has from me. Will see what tonight brings.

Yes LL Emily poos a lot more now she's on solids and generally when she's having her meals which means she's not generally in the mood to eat - I'm sure she waits until she's in her chair and started her feed and then decides as there's more going in she really should get rid of some. She does have pooey days where she has 4 or more but then other days she only does 1 or 2.

House looks lovely by the way! Kitchen is a bit loud but all that sort of stuff you'd want to change anyway to be able to 'make it yours'

laundrylover · 11/10/2006 10:18

Sorry Chelle, feel like I cursed your night's sleep!! It's Tilly that's our problem here as her eczema is really flared up and waking her at night in between Kiah's feeds. What are you studying at college?
Yes that kitchen is a bit in your face eh, but could easily be repainted as the units were fine. Last night we saw another contender so think we really have to get our's on the market or explore rental potential....DPs bro was here after the England match on Sat and got his wing mirror kicked off which strengthened our resolve to make the move.

laundrylover · 11/10/2006 10:19

BTW on the subject of poos i think the highchair has a lot to answer for as Kiah often poos in hers or in the bumbo. Reckon it's the position? Maybe a bit different than sitting on the floor? Perhaps we should try sitting 'em on a potty!!
