Hi Kosh

Hello Splat- what a scrummy little boy! I just love seeing all these photos. Gorgeous babies with dear little faces.
I know exactly what you mean too, the first few weeks I thought I'd never have another child but now I just don't know! Zack is changing so quickly I can't imagine never having another baby!
I found it so hard at first, an emotional rollercoaster as you say, now I'm loving it!

Is it easier the second time around? Or just as scary? Can you experienced mums tell me please?

I have decided not to go back to work, I will see how I feel in a few months time. I'm pretty confident my employer would take me back if I changed my mind in the future so I'm lucky not to have the same pressure as some of you. It's so tough isn't it?

splat · 07/11/2006 12:19

try again!

candj · 07/11/2006 12:25

Splat - what a gorgeous boy - I am impressed that he smiles for the camera - I can't get Josh to do that whatever I try!

splat · 07/11/2006 12:29

Hmmmmm not sure I know what im doing - thanks Usandbump for finding it manually!! Not sure I should return to work just yet - I think I would be dangerous let loose on a PC! 3rd time lucky....

this
and this
yippeee and this!

splat · 07/11/2006 12:31

Thanks guys for the loveliness ! Ooops never have been a one for reading the instructions first! ps Sorry about the neck ache....for photo 2!

HumphreysCorner · 07/11/2006 13:41

Well, have just sat and waited for 2 hours in the Drs to find that Sophie is well and had a heat rash .

splat-ahhh, he is lovely.

usandbump-far easier the 2nd time and hormones not as bad. Perhaps something to do with already having a child to look after-no time to dwell on things. Having one last attempt at Episode 1 of Lost then if that is the Eko episode again I will let you know-ta very much.

kosh-I work for the 'Half the Staff Bugger the Customers' Bank-lol!

Time for the Ryvitas

HumphreysCorner · 07/11/2006 14:23

Yay-looks like I may have actually got episode 1 (if it is the one that starts with the song Downtown)

Hurrah!

FesteringAtForty · 07/11/2006 15:41

Hi All
Sorry have been quiet for a while ? have had MIL staying and also been working quite a lot (boo).

KZ ? sorry to hear about your nasty experience, how awful. Fingers crossed for you that all goes well at the hospital xx

Splat ? sweeeet pics!

Usandbump ? glad things are continuing to improve for you, and thanks for the advice re pyjamas, I feel a shopping trip coming on . Staying in bed for trying to get bf back on track sounds like good advice too, hasn?t been possible this week but I?m trying to take it easier and do more regular and frequent feeds, which seems to be having an effect.

Bloss ? hope everyone?s feeling better now

HC we had a similar experience with Emma on Sunday, gave her some formula (less than 2oz of SMA Gold) after a very fussy and seemingly unsatisfying bf and she was very sick (lots of puking and a bit of diahorrea) for about 4 hours afterwards. She is never normally sick at all (the last time she was sick was when she had some formula) - she went really pale and floppy so we were very worried. Eventually she went to sleep, NHS Direct returned our call and just said to keep bf and maybe some boiled water, in the end I just carried on bf when she woke up later that night and she was fine the next day. The only reason I?m trying formula is because she?s losing weight, and I guess it would also be a useful backup if I was out and there was no EBM. Have thrown away that particular carton though!

Those having problems with toddlers - I think it must be quite common so don?t feel bad, my friend went through a similar phase with her two year old recently where she just didn?t like her very much at all - she was very antagonistic and just not her sweet charming self! She says it has got much better recently though and she?s really enjoying her again.

Bye for now xx
ps really must get round to changing my halloween name

prettymum · 07/11/2006 17:03

kz- hope al is well!!

splat, he is gorgeous and such a poser!!

uab- i found it so much easier with junior, i was back on my feet soon after the birth!! and didnt even feel like i had a new baby!! i think second time round you know what to expect and are prepared!!

junior is such a good baby but he can be very stubborn when he wants to be!!

he always wants to be held when im trying to get all of us ready to go out or before bedtime when im rushing with dinner, bathtime and bedtime and starts screaming if he's not held! i end up very stressed and get down after having a good day!

hope everyone has a good evening!!

HumphreysCorner · 07/11/2006 17:16

We need Christmassy names now girls none of that 'Bah humbug' now.

splat · 07/11/2006 19:32

Evening ladies
Ok im on a roll now and am really showing off with my little lovely! Thanks for all your nice comments - which of course I concur with! Here are some more piccies....

Is anyone waiting till 6 months before weaning? I really dont know what to do for best, he isnt waking yet in night for food - but am worried that he wont be established on 3 meals a day by the time he goes into (whispers quietly) full time nursery. Also he is such a difficult little boy to feed - really really fussy. One day its hard to get 3 ozs down him, the next hes still hungry after 7oz?! I just cant see the nursery spending up to one hour at a time feeding him - which is generally what it takes me. Have your LOs slowed down a bit - I just cant believe that he is not ravenous in the morning after going 10 hours without food, and that his max daily intake is around 30 ozs. He last weighed in at 15.10ozs so he is a slighty bigger than average boy for 17 weeks!

IamBlossom · 07/11/2006 19:43

HC i agree, I luuuuurve Chrimble.

UsandBump, second one much easier and much less scary. I did forget alot of stuff though, like the hormone dump and the lochia, and how time consuming BF is etc, but it really is great having two, you are busier and swept up looking after the two of them, i am really really enjoying it. Plus re row with DP about CC - the rows you have with your DPs about that kind of thing are always intense and very heated, cos they are based on the unknown and worry. Neither of you have done this before and you are trying to do the right thing and you lash out at those closest to you, and they can be so hurtful and vicious. But you do get through them and it does test the best relationships, having kids, there is no doubt about it but I really think you come out stronger for it in the end. Try not to take anything said in a row like that to heart. That will be £50 please, for my counselling.

DS1 is much better thanks girls, Toby is still being sick and has a very runny bottom, but is drinking so not too worried. Tried to get some fluid replacement drink down him but he turne his nose up at it. Have put him back in with me at night in case he is sick in his sleep. Quite like having him there to be honest. He really is an edible little thing....must take some more piccies to show you all.

Speaking of which, Splat he is totally gorge.

KZ - you poor love. How scary. Glad she is ok. I hate hate hate dog poo, I know no-one likes it, but there realy is nothing worse than treading in it. I used to be a dog lover, but have gone right off them. Folks round here seem to think taking their dogs out for a walk in the local beauty spots, picking up their shite and putting it in a nappy sack and hanging it from a tree is the way forward. I mean WTF!!! Roshi is a true gorgeous chubster angel face, I bet she is a great cuddler!

Meeting with boss went fine. So glad to be out of it all. So many new faces I knew no-one really! Toby charmed all the people he met, it was was BLISS to walk out of there knowing I was never going back. Hurray! And my boss said I can keep my phone and PC for the next 6 months, result.

Soz for monster post. Catch you all later.

Bloss

IamBlossom · 07/11/2006 19:47

PS was having lunch with two girlfriends on Friday we each had two boys - big table, three high chairs and three car seats, drinks, toy cars, menus on the floor, bibs, formula bottles, mess everywhere, shouting, wine, whinging, total carnage. And yes it was stressful, and no it didn't matter, and we were all in the same boat, and we all agreed that no matter how much hard work it was it was fab, and we would rather be there doing that than at work any day...i wonder if i will still feel like that in a year.........

SleepIsForTheDead · 07/11/2006 20:04

Come on, IamB...photos please! So exciting that you have sorted out work!

A quick Q:
I have been searching high and low for cute boy's leggings... there are tons for girls. I have found a few pairs of naff jogging bottoms but want leggings (preferably without feet) with fun stripes etc.... any ideas? I think it is much easier to dress girls in this weather - cute pair of tights and a skirt etc...

Sefton has just gone to sleep and DH is out so am going to treat myself to a looooong hot bath now - and a glass of wine! bliss!

HumphreysCorner · 07/11/2006 20:05

I meet my 2 friends every Thursday afternoon. We have 3 toddlers and 3 babies between us so is a total riot every week. I would hate to have to give that up and go to work. My friends never went back so I'm hoping not to-all dependant on our finances of course! DH's dad reckons he pays him too much! not nearly enough

JanenEvie · 07/11/2006 20:15

Hi all

Kayzed, what an odd explanation for the rash! Great news that Roshi's okay though, bet you're relieved that today's over. Forgot to say what cute pics the latest ones of her are (been such a long time since I posted) - she's so round and pretty

Koshka - half a stone, well done. I haven't lost any for weeks and weeks now - necking down industrial quantities of chocolate probably doesn't help though! Sympathise re return to work, I'm REALLY not looking forward to going back properly again either. Might not be so bad once we're back in the swing of it I suppose.

Night ladies xx

candj · 08/11/2006 07:40

KZ - glad Roshi is ok - you must be so relieved.

Bloss - I am so jealous that you have left work - I wish I could be brave enough to mak that decision but I am being a coward and hoping they make me redundant and the decision is made for me!

Splat - Josh's feeding sounds exactly the same as your lo - I give him 5 8oz bottles a day but he probably only finishes 1 or 2 at the most and the rest perhaps drinks between 4 and 6 oz - sometimes less. In total I would say that he has between 30 and 32 oz a day and was 14lb3 oz 2 weeks ago (I am going to get him weighed again today and expect him to be about 15lb 8oz and he is also 17 weeks old so sounds v similar to your lo). On the subject of weaning, I am going to wait as long as possible as he is showing no signs - my HV told me that if they are sleeping through, then the night waking is the clearest indication that they are ready.

pinkdolly · 08/11/2006 08:07

Kayzed- Am so glad that Roshi is ok, must have been a bit of a scare. And I am with you on the dog poo (how do you steer a pushchair around the poo when it is smeared all over the pavement arrgh!)

Kosh- congrats on hitting the half stone mark- i'm doing weight watchers and am losing 2lbs a week at the moment. Only started 2 weeks ago, but it seems to be going well (although I am cheating, still having some treats that i'm not supposed to have).

Re weaning- Jasmine is 17 weeks old. Dh and mum are desperate to get her on solids. But she's such a little thing. I weighed her 2 weeks ago and she was 10lb 9oz. She has never slept through the night yet. The best she has done is midnight till 6:20. I dont want to rush her but both my girls were eating by this stage. What do you think?

I have the hV coming to my house tomorrow for my 2nd postnatel check??? I only ever had one with the girls, has anyone else got to have another check?

Figgypud- I did post on your thread hun, hope you find what your looking for.

Right am gonna go away now and think up a nice chrimbo name for myself. See you later.

usandourlittlexmascracker · 08/11/2006 08:52

Frosty- glad Sophie is ok, always best to get these things checked.

Fester- I'm so glad feeding is beginning to improve. I'm off shoping tomorrow for a nice Christmassy outfit for Zack. I want to take his pic in it to make Xmas cards.

Frosty, Blos, Pretty and KZ- Thanks for the advice, Sounds like there will be a new ickle bump one day after all

I'm going to wait and see re: weaning, I'm not set on waiting until 6 months I'm going to start when I think Zack is ready.
I wouldn't worry about eating at nursery, the staff will soon work out what works best for your LO and they will do exactly as you ask them to. Lots and lots of babies start nursery at 6 months and the staff will be well used to weaning. Why not give them a call and ask about their policy?

Bloss- Great advice! It's been a big change for DP and I obviously, we have been together for 12 years and could count on one hand the number of arguments we have had. So it's all a bit upsetting when they happen. I have never felt so protective in all my life! Good news about work!

Figgy- I'm impressed with the multi-tasking Go for it with day time naps, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Lots of people moan about their HV and one of mine is useless but this one is great! Although she does have 4 children!

Pink- No 2nd post-natal check here and my 1st was a complete waste of time!
I think you should play it by ear with Jasmine re:weaning- trust your instincts.
