Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OldieMum · 16/10/2006 10:35

Hi, all. Just emerging from a difficult time with Michael. At one point last week he was (1) recovering from his vaccinations; (2) teething; (3) still suffering from colic; and (4) battling with a cold. Now he's smiling again and seems much better. Did anyone else's baby have a week-long reaction to jabs? It's happened both times with Michael. The HV said it's just a sign that his body has taken them on board properly....

usandbump · 16/10/2006 10:35

Thats a lot of money
Teenagers can't be cheap, if there is one thing in particular he wants maybe family and friends could put what they would have spent on him towards one main pressie from you all?
Enjoy your walk things are always clearer after a good dose of fresh air x

usandbump · 16/10/2006 11:00

Hi Oldiemum

Sounds dreadful Zack was very poorly for 2-3 weeks after his first jabs, he had his 2nd lot last week and has been completely fine. My HV also said totally normal for some babies to react in this way. Hope Michael is on the mend. x

Now I really must get off this computer, Zack has been sleeping all this time and all I have managed is to wash and dress myself

Annie29 · 16/10/2006 13:13

Hi everyone,
hope you're all ok, this is a quick one, as Kayley is getting tired of wiggling around on her mat now. DS is asleep so this is my rare chance to get on the computer!
Oldiemum, hope Michael is getting better.
Usandbump hope you are getting on better with the bottle now. Have you tried it at a time when he's not tired, and not overly hungry? I'm sure you have, I'm just being old mother hubbard again.
Well Kayley slept through last night, from about 8.30, til around 6.30 this morning. I still woke expecting her to wake, but she just fidgeted and thumped her legs a few times, farted, and off she went again. DS came into bed with us as usual, and managed to fall asleep with his head on my tummy, and his legs on DH. Time for his own room I think!DH, get on with it!
Best go
Annie

Superblue here

Kbaby - my DS has only just started to raise is head when on his tummy over the last couple of days and he is 13 weeks old - b4 that, he barely managed to lift his chin but it literally happened overnight.

KZ - ta v much for mentioning about the Bumbo - I had no idea such things existed but been out and bought one today and Josh LOVES it!

Agalch - [[[hugs]]] it must be awful for you.

GrimAdventuresOfJane · 16/10/2006 22:43

Hi all

Kami: Evie is just about into 3-6month clothes but socks and hats still needs early baby/newborn! V.bizarre!

Evie has become super clingy recently and its driving me mad she keeps SCREAMING when she cant see me and whenever I put her to bed recently she wakes up ever time her head hits the pillow and starts hysterically crying! I'm putting it down to DP being on nights at mo but not convinced! He was shocked at it when he ahd few nights off think he though I was exaggeratting!
Really considering giving up BF because I'm sure this is contirbuting to the over clinginess & I seriously can't go out! even my nipple is blistered at the mo shes so suckly (tmi)again!
Ho hum
Rant over!!!!
Speak soon
A very tired Jane

GrimAdventuresOfJane · 16/10/2006 22:44

Pretty: I cant get your link to work it keeps saying not logged in!

prettymummified · 16/10/2006 23:05

aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!! here we go again!

here

usandbump · 17/10/2006 07:06

I can't get in either mummified.

Jane- Zack has started crying at strangers if they hold him or get too close! Family were calling him grumpy at the weekend I felt like screaming at them he's not grumpy he just doesn't like you perhaps if you visited us he may recognise you! It sounds like she may be teething have you tried calpol or gel?

KZ- lol at your new friend at the park, what does ds think about seeing him again?

Zack is still in 0-3 month clothing but in bigger socks Trust him to be different! Thats why I call him my quirky little pixie

Annie- lol at your ds!! How you manage to get any sleep at all is beyond me!
You're not being Old Mother Hubbard at all I appreciate any suggestions you can make.

Dp and I discussed bottles last night and I basically said I'm happy for him to try the bottle but if Zack gets upset then to stop. I went on to say he is only a baby for a such short time and I can cope for the next 3 months exclusively breastfeeding so I don't see why we should push it so much.
He agreed totally and is now feeling very relaxed about the whole thing- phew! I think our problem is we don't talk enough- something to work on.

Zack was an angel last night! Slept from 10pm until 6.25am, he grumbled a bit at 3 but went back off again. This is the longest he has ever slept

We went to an emigration to New Zealand seminar last night. It was all very interesting and exciting. We went travelling ( not to NZ tho ) a few years ago and decided we would like to emigrate then. So we are making plans to go in a year or two but dp is sending cv's off now in the hope of getting a 6 month contract for us to go and have a trial visit. Who knows!

Bye for now x

candj · 17/10/2006 07:46

Morning everyone - hope you all had a good nights sleep.

DH had to go to Leeds today which meant getting up at 5.30 so he said he would get ready in the bathroom/spare room so as not to disturb DS - ha ha!! He stomped round like an elephant for about half an hour, kept coming into the bedroom for various things and generally being VERY noisy - surprise, Josh didn't stay asleep and who had to try and settle him again??

Got to go to work this morning (boo!) to meet the woman who is likely to be my new boss when I go back - hope she is nice (and understanding about children/flexibility etc!) - also should find out what jobs will be available in the new structure.

Leaving DS with my friend who had a baby boy in August - first time I have left him with someone who is not family so a bit nervous but fingers crossed he should be ok.

SleepIsForTheDead · 17/10/2006 09:22

Usandbump,
Sefton is also in 0-3 months clothes and 6-12 month socks! He reminds me of a labrador puppy with big paws!
He woke up a few times last night but not for any length of time except for his 3am feed which I can deal with.
Off to doctors for jabs again today

Maewest, is your brother back now? All ok?

hope all of you and your LOs are well
x

Quick post for KZ- would you mind popping over to feeding thread? There is a post with the heading 'fed up with BF'. This poor mummy is exhausted and is considering solely bottle feeding EBM, I thought maybe you would be the ideal person to give her the pro's and cons? x

Thanks all You are all wonderful x

HumphreysCoroner · 17/10/2006 16:55

Afternoon ladies

Get me posting on the BF thread Aren't we all lovely

agalch-so sorry to hear about your vouchers-don't know how we would manage if I didn't save with my mum and dad in a Xmas fund.

Have just taken Sophie for her 3rd jabs-she had the first pneumonia one as well, next one in 2 months. Had her weighed and she is only 11 lb 6 oz so has not even put a lb on in 4 weeks. She is now down to just above the 2nd centile. I mentioned to the HV about her waking up more in the night and she said it is a common mistake that parents make when they start weaning because of this. I was thinking of weaning but she told me not too.

I think newborn socks are stoopid-they keep falling off as they have no heels!

candj-work -am really dreading this meeting when it happens.

usandbump-glad you have the bottle issue sorted.

Going to go now as one handed typing and keep losing what I type so byee for now and love to all.

evening all. Busy busy busy, does anyone else feel like the days and weeks are just merging in together? Having two is sooooo intense, the work is constant, thank god they go to bed at 7pm and I can take a breather. Really enjoying it though, even though you never get to talk to your friends you see at groups really cos one or the other needs your attention. Phew!

Toby is being a little dreamboat. Smiling and giggling, and sleeping from 7pm till 5am most nights, feeding then going back till 7am. He also sleeps again from 8am till 9am giving me time to have a peaceful shower as DS1 is planted in front of Boogie Beebies. Long may it last. DS1 is now not having any accidents at all, after a week of potty training and I am so proud of him. I have to watch him like a hawk and make him sit on the potty every half an hour but it is worth it not to be changing two lots of nappies. My big boy!!

Toby now gets predominantly formula, and is a much more contented baby for it. I BF at night if he wakes and early in the morning, but to fill him up (16 pounds at 10 weeks old!) I would need to pretty much constantly BF all afternoon and I just can't do that with DS1 around as well. Looking forward to stopping altogether and wearing good old wonder bras again. I will ritually burn my grey feeding bras at that point!

OOOOOOOOOOOOh halloween and Bonfire night, and Chrimble looming. Love love love this time of year.

Algach so so sorry that is total pants and I do feel for you sweetheart, what an awful thing to happen. Why is it always the good, careful, honest people in this world that get shat on from a great height?

Read all your posts girls, great to hear all your news.Lots of love,

Blossom
