my dd had a piece of toast this morning..she was eating away till she decided that she didnt want it anymore so i asked her to give it to me so i can put it in the bin, she picks it up off the floor and smeared it all in my hand very hard (oh thank you!!)

arent children just lovely!!

hotmama · 24/11/2006 21:55

Before I read the posts, just to let you know I'm not actually up the duff, just thinking about having a 3rd at some point.

There is only 16 months between the dd's and dd2 is not 10 months yet - do you think I am stark raving mad! Hence bf and being on the minipill!

hotmama · 24/11/2006 21:57

DD1 is full of cold - so is on Benylin for chesty coughs and karvol capsules on her pillow - she is still her smiley self though.

maisiemog · 25/11/2006 00:24

Hi all,
it's OK Hotmama, I didn't think you were actually expecing another baby, but you did say you were considering another, so I had to say something.
PM Alfie has been a bit random with food since, well I can't remember when it started. I do notice that if I leave him with longer gaps between meals he is less likely to be fussy. Maybe with a piece of cheese as a snack or a bit of apple a couple of times a day. I still don't like it when he won't eat and worry about him, but I can't be bothered making him two meals to get him to eat something.
I sometimes find if I take away his dinner and then present it again about half an hour later he might actually eat some. I'm not that routine with meals, apart from tea at 5:30, but I change that sometimes if he got up really early so all his meals are earlier, If you see what I mean.
I'm like you PM, I eat brek with Alf, then he has his lunch just before me, so I can make mine in peace, then I eat with DP later. I don't think I could eat my dinner at 5:30.
Biglips, is your library cool with little kids? Ours is pretty OK with tods. Alfie can be a bit loud and shrill on occasion and they don't say anything. One time DP took Alf round, but left him in the pram and he started blowing little raspberries, he was right next to a dude reading the paper, so the raspberries got louder and louder with smaller spaces in between until it was like a machine gun, and the guy moved.

geogteach · 25/11/2006 10:06

Babygeog fell down the steps outside DD's pre school on Wednesday, he has no skin left on his nose, then yestaday he was in the trolly in tescos when DD said whats that on his hand and he had picked the scab and there was blood everywhere!
Babygeog eats very well but we have all our meals together. His most annoying habit is that he likes 3 different types of cereal in the bowl every morning and gets himself in a tissy if I don't get them in the right order, unfortunately what the right order actually is is a secret he keeps to himself!

biglips · 25/11/2006 12:10

lol!! at maisiemog about blowing raspberries ... ours was fine but we've got a old big library...does the noise echoed around the room??

aaawwww poor little Geogtech - mwah mwah mwah on his little nose x x x

my dd was concerning me this morning as she was on the potty and likes to tissues to wipe her bottom (she be wiping for half an hour without a wee!!) but she was trying to stuff the tissues up her private parts!! so i had to pull it back out.

maisiemog · 27/11/2006 00:31

Oh no poor babygeog, poor nose. I am sending him a hug from Alfie, which proabably involves both of them falling over and lying in a heap.
Biglips, our library is peculiar, the actual floor area isn't that large, but the ceiling is very high, it's an old building.
I wipe Alfie's bum for him with reusable wipes made of towelling, he lays on my lap whilst I get his bum clean. I would not trust him to do it himself, oh no! I don't think so! He would make a lovely mess and eat the wipes.
I think they like sticking things up any holes they can find don't they. I had to keep stopping Alfie from sticking his fingers up his bum.
Nice!
Get your fingers away from my face you grot!
Oh I bought some gorgeous trousers for Alfie from H&M, they've got braces!!! Braces are cute! He looks like a little grandad! I will post a picture when I can get him to stand still.
Where is KathH these days??

cazzybabs · 27/11/2006 22:16

I am NEVER NEVER NEVER going shopping with my terrible 2 year old again...what ever made me think it would be OK on Saturday returned to haunt me tonight but on my own without dh and with dd1! never never never...of god she ws running on the opposite direction laughing, lying on the floor, screaming (not all at the same time), trying to eat bits of the cakes in the bakery bit in M and s....it was a nightmare (and I was only shopping for 10 minutes)...but I did get everything I needed with the help of dd1 and the bribe of a chocolate cookie (dd2 only got a tiny bit as she was too pickley)

maisiemog · 28/11/2006 22:03

I know Cazzy, it's soo much fun. I still keep Alfie's reins in my pocket for when we are having too much 'fun'.
I find the favourite part of shopping (huh!) for 2 year olds is standing at a till, looking at clothes in a clothes shop or sitting on a seat in a cafe for more than ten minutes.
Was DD1 a more well-behaved girl when you went out?
I too try to keep our shopping trips fairly brief as well, too tiring otherwise.
My favourite is Asda, because I take him when he is hungoo and either let him stand in the trolley and pack the bags, or let him walk around behind me. I find if I give him something to eat, like a very large apple or a bag of crisps, it keeps his hands occupied so he can't pilfer from the shelves.
We went to H&M and Gap the other day and I had to keep chasing him around, and he thought it was great. Heee heee heee! Mad laughter, sound of little running feet, can't see where he is for clothes rails, brat boy!
Can I just recommend the Mulberry bush online toyshop, the toys are soo cute, but the catalogue you get from them- Alfie thinks it is a book, he pores over it for ages.

And what does 'pickley' mean? I haven't heard that word before.

Oh and loving Alfie's trainset. How's Moley getting on with his. I been buying extra bridges on Ebay, to play with when Alfie goes to bed.

cazzybabs · 29/11/2006 19:23

Pickley - exhibiting challenging behaviour but in a saying nice knid of way!

dd1 was an angel shopping - I don't think I ever had a tantrum from her.

maisiemog · 29/11/2006 23:49

Ooer! I didn't realise I had posted twice until I saw that that that that!
I must have got confursed.
Pickley good word.
How are you feeling Cazzy? When is your scan?

KathH · 04/12/2006 23:08

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack! Have been on my jollies to Tunisia - am lurvely & brown & did my final accountancy exams the other day so have been revising like a gud un & have been up to my armpits in decorating the extension. It's all finished now & looks fab so am well chuffed!

How's everyone? Moley's dead stroppy at the minute.

How are we all going with the Chrimbo shopping? Have done loads but with 4 I've still got loads to do. Moleys dead excited & keeps going on about Mismas trees & Santa.

Cazzybabs - congrats

Masiemog - glad you missed me! I had a look tonight at this thread for the first time in 2 months & was distraught that nobody else noticed I wasnt here!

KathH · 04/12/2006 23:08

By the way, moley has a 2 yr check up next week in a library(?) What's that all about?

maisiemog · 04/12/2006 23:25

Hi Kath Lucky you on holiday. What was Tunisia like? Was the food nice? Was Moley nice? Did you tie him up for the flight?
At least the two year check wasn't in Asda or something.
So what happens at a two year check then, and how did it go??
We aren't getting one in my area, so I might do one on Alfie myself, because he is soo upset about missing his. My mum thinks it is because he is cutting two more teeth, but I know it's the two year check. [knowing nod, wry face]

MerryBiglipsmas · 05/12/2006 08:13

kathh- oh i noticed that you werent around as dont worry

Gald you had a lovely time to Tunisia - ive always wanted to go! im still white as a fish!! hee hee

My dd is having her 2 yr develp assessment TODAY at the clinic but library!?!?... strange as its be too much for my daughter to cope!

the 2 yr one is all about motor skills, cooridination...ill let you know more l8ter

Also we are getting a 6m old cat 2nite - a tortoise shell and white one and its ssooooo cute!

Since last week dd had been asking me "whats that?", "Whats that?" "Whats that?" (and even to people instead of saying "Whos that?" its "Whats that?" awww bless her!)

MerryBiglipsmas · 05/12/2006 08:16

oh about the xmas shopping...we've done the kids but gotta get the adults ones now

weve already got ours - a brand new condensing combi boiler from Warmfront as ours had been knackered for too long!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!! (our gas bill had been right thru the roof as well without the heating on thru the Summer!!!!!!!!)

geogteach · 05/12/2006 13:01

From what I remeber of thw 2 year check with my other 2 it seemed to involve being able to do a tray puzzle and knowing what to do with a toy tea set!

MerryBiglipsmas · 05/12/2006 15:23

hiya im back and dd had grown 5cm in 3 months!!!!! but she hadnt put any weight on but that normal as we only had weighed her back in sept.

anyway.. she passed all flying colours. She has to do some drawings (they were looking for circles and a straight line), stacking up small blocks, kick the football... all did well

maisiemog · 05/12/2006 21:07

Hi Biglips, good going Tweenie with the tests.
I'm glad we haven't had the test in that case, Alfie can't do a circle or a line as far as I know.
Mind you, that's because I very seldom give him crayons of pens - because he EATS them! He's OK if I sit with him, but the minute I leave him. UM!
I don't think he is that fussed about drawing, seems to get bored quite fast, unless it's the sofa with a biro.
How does Tweenie hold her pen?
He is super-good at stacking bricks though, I've got a video of him stacking 7 and 8 blocks when he was thirteen months. He was would build them really fast then knock them down and build them up again really fast, whilst making a strange droning noise. That was his 'thing' and shapes/puzzles. So I suppose if the test is for fine motor skills he probably would be find, apart from drawing.
I can just imagine the HV giving him a felt-tip or something 'Here you go Alfie. Oh! Never mind here's another one. Oh! Well you certainly have a good appetite'
He can kick and throw - that's gross motor skills testing isn't it?
Did you have to throw? I don't know if I would have a throwing test if I were an HV, could get a bit out of hand.
I'm not sure he makes a very nice cup of tea, so he might not pass that. He gives me sugar and he knows I don't take it. [rolls eyes]
Tray Puzzles? Is that like the shapes with pegs on that fit into a board?
He would do well at that if I took one of his along.

KathH · 05/12/2006 22:08

when my cousin went for his 2 yr check up he was about 2 1/2 & the dr said to him Daniel, do you think you would like to build these bricks into a tower? My cousin looked at him and said no thank you but if you'd like to then feel free!

prettymum · 05/12/2006 22:26

im about to fall asleep so im gonna go and get some sleep!! cant remember when i last drank wine and two glasses is getting to me!!
goodnight

maisiemog · 05/12/2006 23:12

LOL at your eloquent cousin Kath.
I was just speaking to DP about the drawing thing and he does get Alfie to draw (he's really good at doing all the things I am supposed to do with Alfie )
Anyhoo, he says Alfie is quite good at drawing lines - shows what I know. Hee hee! I did notice this morning that he held the pen really well, and apparently this is as a result of DP coaching him. They are so funny.
I was trying to write something this morning and Alfie started to scribble on my pad like a crazyboy and then accidentally did a two and stopped and pointed "TWOOOO!" He was very pleased with himself.
I showed him how to write bus this morning B U SSS
he was very excited and jumped up and down 'busbusbus'
He used to be a tiny little baby and now he's a horrible little two year old who runs away from me all the time.
He was very upset tonight because we wanted to give him his bath and he wanted to play with his trains. 'Tooooooooot' 'Waaiiil' 'Tooot Tooot' Nope Nope Nope No No NO!
Sleeping now though. Yes! My precious!

maisiemog · 05/12/2006 23:42

Oh yes I meant to ask. Do your babies/toddlers hide from you?
Alfie has started hiding quite a bit. Like today I was going shopping and kind of bustling around, after about ten minutes I became aware that I hadn't seen Alfie for a while.
Dp said 'Alfie's in the coat cupboard. He's been there for age, peeking out'
He is sooo quiet, just smiling to himself. 'Hee hee, Mummy can't find me. hoohoo'
