I've been here since March 04, in various guises .

I was kst101, then benjaminsmummy, then PicadillyCircus, then PiccadillyCircus (spot the subtle difference ) and now IdristheDragon.

With the odd Christmas/other random name in there as well.

I am preparing myself for a Training Skills course at work next week. Course is residential and from Tuesday to Friday. I will miss all of them, but looking forward to getting sleep .

I have just prepared a lovely session on learning how to knit - now on to something a bit more technical (and suited to the world of accountancy ).

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 19/10/2006 11:56

Sleep inducing methods needed not controled crying though as I need N to sleep. I need to try and get D's sleep issues cracked. He was awake when I got in from ework and would not sleep unless I was holding him so I ended up breaking my own rules and having in bed with us. It was the only way I could get any sleep and even then he kept waking up to chaeck I was there. I hate work as it is without knowing that D is so unsettled by it.

mamamaaargh · 19/10/2006 19:01

Oh, I need help with my knitting, Idris. I'm still working on a scarf I began before I was pregnant! I'll finish it one day...

You must be exhausted Mummyhill. I wish I had some helpful suggestions, but am dealing with a similar thing myself. Did manage a whole night's sleep (well, 12 - 6) last night for the first time in months. And strangely, I feel worse today than I usually do! Not complaining though.

Hope everyone else is ok

Simplyred · 19/10/2006 19:48

Hello!

Have you tried smells MH? to associate with sleep?.The relaxing Baby bath with Lavender followed by drops of lavender oil on a tissue by his cot (away from grabbing arms) Rachel grabbed hers and chewed it the other day Perhaps sounds too - I had a machine that did heart beats, sea, rain etc when ds was a baby and he seemed to like it. Rachel also has a comforter a winnie the pooh with a silky blanket - that she strokes in her cot but I'm sure I'll regret that when shes carrying it around with her everywhere aged 8!!

I've been on MN for 18 months - as Redhelen before my most recent Simplyred! I love it!

WereWABBITT · 20/10/2006 01:40

to everyone

too late to post

hope all sleep tonight especially MH and mamama

nighty night all xxx

mamamaaargh · 20/10/2006 02:41

Wabbit, I sincerely hope you have gone to bed now...

I like the lavender oil idea. We have a 'bedtime' CD which I have on repeat play ALL night - drives me crazy but seems to help ds settle back down. We do the usual dinner, bath, quiet time, story, milk & bed thing and it is working quite well. If only he wouldn't wake up through the night. There must be something that makes a baby sleep. Someone told me today that her 3 yr old has NEVER slept through... not what I wanted to hear!

Happy Friday everyone.

pooka · 20/10/2006 07:33

I've been around since 2003 when dd was born. No plans to leave!

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 20/10/2006 08:21

Still no sleep. I have tried lavender and chamomile as both are safe for children and promote sleep.

I resorted to co sleeping at least this wasy I am getting some sleep but not much. He seems to be a very light sleeper. It didn't help that a friend phoned last night and woke him up at 9.15 he had been aslep for 1 1/2 hours at this point he then didn't settle till about 10 managed to get him in the cot and he woke again at 1.30 so put him in with us he went back off again at about 2 then was awake again at 5. DD was awake at 5.30 so chances of any more sleep out of the window.

Simplyred · 20/10/2006 08:58

So sorry about the lack of sleep MH and mama.

Hello pooka - how's tom?

Right must get ready and out - half term started yesterday - trying to keep them amused!

pooka · 20/10/2006 11:23

Hi there. So sorry about the lack of sleep MH and mama. The only advice I have is to try and not be the one who gets up - with dd she slept badly until she was about 10 months, but dh did the nighttime wake ups from when she was 7 months and I stopped nighttime feeds. Think she just grew out of it/realised no food offered. But whatever - meant that by about 9months I'd learned to sleep through her wakings. Result. With Tom, he has always been a better sleeper. Still has periods of being unsettled, but think he really started to sleep through at about 7 months. Again, I stopped feeding at night then, and so DH was on dummy/blanket duty and again dh has to tell me in the morning if he's woken. Very lucky I know. But then it works for us because I am appalling with little sleep whereas dh copes much better and while is at work during the day, it's not as if I get naps during the day either. He at least gets a break.

Tom well SR- how's Rachel?
Actually, I say that he's well, but has come up in hives again and I think he might have an allergy to strawberry (concentrated - i.e. puree/humzinger). All really frustrating as he was due to have his pneumo vaccine on Wednesday but now that's been shelved and am going to dr's this pm for advice about whether he'll have to have a monitored vaccine/allergy testing/whether it's viral instead/blah blah. Strange because neither dh nor I (or dd) have any allergies (though apparently dh might be allergic to the theatrical glue used for attaching fake beards, but that hardly interferes with his life ).

Anyway - must get on with clearing up bombsite house!

Take care everyone. X

jaampire · 20/10/2006 12:30

Hey all!
Sorry been absent for a while but it looks like you've all been busy! It's taken me an age to catch up!
A had a lovely birthday party on Sunday - weather held so we could shove everyone outside!
Pooka - not going to ask how Dh learned he was allergic to beard glue!! Hope Tom doesn't catch anything else. My DH is like you - always has to ask whether I was up with DDs in the night. Just sleeps right through !
Mamama and Wabbit - sorry to hear about your (well founded) Ex DP worries. Hope the mediator meeting goes ok today, Wabbit.
MH - have you tried putting an old unwashed jumper of your's in D's cot? That way he'll have something to snuggle up to that smells of mummy. Yes, next time you are up here you HAVE to let me know...Haven't seen your friend on the meet up thread though I know she's got her hands full. The only time I get down to the midlands (Tamworth) is with work so unfortunately don't have time for coffee!
SR - the saturday morning classes sound great to give DS that extra bit of confidence. HOpe he enjoys them.
Think I've been here since about Apr 05 when I was jessysmummy, then jessyandabbysmummy which I then shortened to jaamy.
Hope everyone is ok.
x

mollyollymummy · 20/10/2006 21:03

Mamama do you live in the U.S ? I'm a wee bit confused.

Pooka - can totally sympathise with the whole allergy thing,3 of my children have allergies,my 11 year old ds has had it bad since he was 3 months old started with exzema i had to use wet wrap bandages every day then we discovered he had a peanut allergy, yet my dh ormyself have none. We have to try and live in a dust free zone.

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 21/10/2006 00:42

mollyollymummy - yes mamama is in the u.s

Wabbitt - How did the meeting go today? Are you still ok to meet Friday, will have both angels with me so will have to get back to collect dh from work.

jaamy - yes sniff has got her hands rather full.

D is sleeing on my lap as i type. he woke up as i came in from work!!!!!!!

Simplyred · 21/10/2006 10:07

Ahh hope David slept well last night when you went to bed mh.

dh is off work for 6 days - which is a shock hes never off work!!

Is any one else lossing hair? - it seems to have started again since Rachel hit one! Thankfully I have a very thick mop!

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 21/10/2006 11:10

I have been losing brushfull's of hair since D was 6 months. Luckily i have loads so it's not noticable.

pooka · 21/10/2006 11:30

I'm still losing lots of hair. Moulting I am. When I wash my hair in the bath it's YUK!
DD gone out with MIL and dh has taken Tom off to the shops so a free house for me. Have some wierd bug I think - very painful stomach cramps, not hungry, very tired. Should go to bed but seem to have weaned myself off daytime sleeping far too successfully.
Hope the meeting went as well as possilbe wabbit.

WereWABBITT · 21/10/2006 13:15

Helloooooo!

Well, I'm refreshed from a good nights sleep now, hope you can say the same MummyHill and he starts to settle soon xx

I've been reassured by my visit to the Solicitor, she was quite forthright about exP's 'rights' but also said we don't have to offer him anything that I'm not comfortable with. If he decides that's not enough and pursues more access through the courts we will have to go through a process of mediation first anyway. Which is something I'm requesting via a letter from my solicitor anyway...

So she's writing to him offering access (which in practice will be more generous than the access he imposes himself anyway) her letter will state the terms of access; it will also inform him of his obligation to provide a fair amount of maintenance; request the return of C's birth certificates and invite him to enter a process of mediation to discuss the future progression of his access.

So, in retrospect, I rather wish I'd done this before, the relief I feel is so welcome and I could have saved myself some ugly scenes and a great deal of energy and worry.

On the matter of hair, I'm losing quite alot still but it seems to depend on where I am in my cycle. Just before a period I lose loads and think baldness is imminent (my hair's very fine anyway) but after my period my hair's not half so reluctant to stay put!

C's woken from his snooze so i'll have to pop off

Have a good weekend all and SR enjoy having dh around for six whole days

Simplyred · 21/10/2006 14:50

Very glad things have brightened for you Wabbitt.

Also glad I'm not the only potential balddy! Hope you feel much better very soon Pooka.

Right I must tidy - this house is a disgrace!

Simplyred · 21/10/2006 21:00

Fire works! There going bangtastic here!

I remember last year you had them mh troubling you until the early hours - I hope not this year - that will really upset little D. Sending sleep vibes zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 22/10/2006 10:50

Yesterday was divali(sp) so loads of fireworks going off.

Wabbitt - Glad the meeting went well. Why does exP have c's birth cert??????

D's sleep last night was rubbish again.

I am printing off a 66 page family tree and trying to stick it together for a family get together at lunch time for nan's 87th birthday. I am struggling to stick it together with N running round like a loon in her favourite party dress!!!!! D is sleeping will get him dressed in a bit.

Simplyred · 22/10/2006 13:56

Yes = we had fireworks untill 1am!

Will there be fire works for end of Ramadam - Ede??? Think thats tonight/tomorrow!!!???

Sorry D's sleeping is not improving - hope nan enjoys her 87th!

IdrisTheDragon · 22/10/2006 20:33

Hello .

DH and his brother have stolen the main laptop to play some game involving Roman soldiers (I think) so I am using my work one.

Sorry to hear about disturbed sleep. We don't seem to have had any fireworks here, but still have the disturbed sleep. I sometimes wonder if Alice will ever stay asleep all night and if not whether I have the energy to do any thing about it. Bit of a vicious circle really.

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 22/10/2006 21:12

Had a great afternoon catching up on all the family gossip. Have been given about 20 more names with dates etc for the family tree. So more time to be spent on the pooter updating it all.

Simplyred · 23/10/2006 10:55

Hello!

Just got dressed

Now to get out of the house and do something! Spent too long here yesterday with all the rain - and have gone stir crazy!

mummyscaryhouseonthehill · 23/10/2006 14:31
