Fed up when I had thrush in my boobs it hurt 24-7 so its maybe not that. Something hormonal maybe? Or linked to not wearing a bra?

J is fine this morn, looks like an assault and battery victim but other than that he's good Confused

fedupofrainydays · 04/10/2014 10:57

I wear a bra at night. Have leaky boobs so need to.
Weirdly my 'bits' thrush is only itchy at night too. All a bit weird

Glad J is ok yellow.

Baby has an eye infection now, poor little thing. It's all swollen shut and leaking something horrible. Why do these things always happen on a weekend?!

Porcito it sounds odd but squirt some breast milk in her infected eye it is a natural remedy for it xx

porcito · 04/10/2014 15:14

sorry you're having a hard time bump - in my own experience, everything was much easier at home. we got a medela pump as a back up for if our problems continued.

Yellow, yes, have been practising my aim since last night! Also good for nappy rash apparently! Who knew... Might start selling the stuff!

Stitches out today, eek. Feeling much more mobile now too. Might voluntarily leave the house for a coffee - big steps here as you're supposed to be 'quarantined' for 40 days. I already caused uproar by taking her for shots without being wrapped in 50 blankets Hmm

YellowWellies · 04/10/2014 18:37

We took J, L and the dog to the park today. Lilla road tested the ergo with newborn insert. It rocked! I could barely feel her weight and it sits above my CS scar so didn't irritate it. Then I made dairy free versions of THOSE cookies with a toddler - mmmmmm even with small help they were lush!

Lilla has been on a feeding frenzy ALL DAY! Answering my can you nurse in an ergo question. Yes you can.

fedupofrainydays · 04/10/2014 19:44

Feeding ALL day here too. It's ridiculous. Permentlj on my boob. Who knows if it's feeding or comfort. He seems to get a bit unhappy when he's doing a poo / fart so hope we aren't heading for windy baby doom

Interested In how you feed in an ergo! Our wee man still too small to use ours - needs to be 7lb and he's still too wee!

If you get a newborn insert (£10 on eBay) they can go in from 5lb.

I'm worrying about comfort feeding too. Bastarding CMPI!

porcito · 04/10/2014 21:22

I just read a question from someone who feeds for 5 minutes each side, whaaaat. Anna feeds for about an hour a side and then goes back. Beast.

YellowWellies · 04/10/2014 21:35

Feeding for five minutes a side at this age is really bad - baby will end up with too much foremilk and potentially issues with lactose. I was wrongly advised ten minutes a side with J and it made him v poorly. They should be taking as long as possible on each side to drain the breast right to the hindmilk and whilst a toddler can drain a boob in five minutes a newborn can't. Lilla is very efficient and takes about 25 minutes a side - she's twice as fast as her brother.

YellowWellies · 04/10/2014 21:36

Porcito she sounds about right to me. Anna will speed up though xx

fedupofrainydays · 04/10/2014 22:38

My ergo insert says 7lb. Hmmmm. Oh well he's 6lb 8 at last weigh in so not dar off.

Yep - we are hours bf as well, def not 5 minutes!!

Anyone else's LO got very dry skin? Ds1 didn't have this so don't really know what to do. It's so dry it's flakey / looks like it's peeling. Mainly on legs. What can I use or do I leave it?

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 05/10/2014 15:21

I think we were told grape seed oil was good for dry skin. its the oil used in baby massage.

porcito · 05/10/2014 16:35

We were told it was ok to leave as well and would probably sort itself out. Norrmal to have lots of flaky skin as they've been in a bag of liquid for so long that being outside dries them out. Anna L has legs like a snake! Grin

Captainmcgraw · 05/10/2014 16:37

Or last time I was advised to use a light olive oil although midwife said to me the other day she'd just read some research to suggest it might give them eczema so perhaps not such a good idea....

Anyone else having down days? I feeling really low today - not sure whether it's just hormones or the fact that MIL is staying and driving me and DH nuts. She's mainly going on and on about how tired she is and telling me about her hysterectomy pain (not recent) yet not doing an awful lot to help out.

YellowWellies · 05/10/2014 18:57

Captain I've been sad about how I can't be there for J as I used to be. He's still so little it makes me sad having to prioritise Lilla. And when he wants a carry and I can't it makes me Sad .

We had a lovely dog walk in the park - really windy it definitely blew the cobwebs away and cheered me up - watching J dotting around trying to catch falling leaves. I also managed to make gnocchi with L in the sling, then DH and I crashed on the sofa parking J in front of frozen planet and Yellowstone. Getting out the house every day definitely needs to be done.

This is also the first day I've coped without pain killers. Whoop!

Now will DH and I have enough energy for an episode of Game of Thrones between J's bedtime and ours?

fedupofrainydays · 05/10/2014 20:04

Well I might leave it then! His legs do look a bit snake like.

I have down moments, yes. Mainly when he wants to feed the whole time and I can't get anything done / spend time with my older son. I get cabin fever so even a 5 minute walk helps my mood. Agree with yellow that getting out does help.

My weepiness seems to have passed (touch wood) but my anxiety is through the roof im really gutted as managed to keep it in check during the pregnancy.

I ended up in hospital today woke this morning and my scar absolutely stank the most foul smell ive ever smelt I phoned for a midwife visit to check it out but they told me to go straight in. Bloods and Urine came back clear there growing a swab from the wound. Doctor thought it looked inflamed but as im breast feeding decided against anti bs as the bloods were clear.

gunwalloe · 05/10/2014 20:12

fed up would baby oil do the trick? My DD has dry skin on her hands I might give it a go on her

Captainmcgraw · 05/10/2014 20:14

Yes I feel the same - I'm really starting to miss DD as grandparents have been here looking after her. So looking forward to MIL leaving to have some family time. We'd send her away tomorrow but I have to take baby for hip scan on Tuesday and can't get to the hospital without her help at the moment.

Agree about getting out - DH and I had a walk earlier with baby carrier (and a cheeky stop in pub) and it really helped.

Who was saying they had thrush? I'm noticing soreness now and wondering whether it's ok to use canesten when bf as have some from a previous bout. Also have unused pessary - is this ok?

fedupofrainydays · 05/10/2014 21:46

gun hope wound turns out ok. What do you think has made the anxiety come out? Hope you are ok. I was mega anxious all pregnancy after two mcs and am loads better now, but it was completely irrational thoughts and worries throughout.

It was me with thrush. Yes to Caneston and pessary. But the latter might not work well if you are still bleeding down there. Doctor gave me a pill (would have given pessary if not bleeding still) but that didn't work so yesterday I went to boots and got Caneston dual cream (internal and external) symptoms a bit better but still itchy.
