claire I'm not sure what they're putting me on, picking up tomorrow. It's an infection in my csection wound. I'm getting increasingly worried about the discomfort he's in after feeding. It's really starting to upset me

ohthegoats · 21/10/2014 21:35

Badger - same going on with sleep here. He's doing everything else though, all cooking, cleaning, sorting out of builders, shopping, visitor fending off, washing etc, so I don't mind too much. He can't actually help with the night feeding stuff, and she only really cries for food, so no point in him being as sleep deprived as me.

ohthegoats · 21/10/2014 21:37

Oh, and today has been awful with crying - hss wanted to feed all day. If not feeding, crying. Boyfriend totally did his share of dealing with that.

Me23 · 21/10/2014 21:40

badger yanbu, he has plenty of time to sleep once he is back at work. This time should be spent with him binding with baby and looking after you.

fedup she has plenty of wet and dirty nappies. The mws should weigh her tomorrow will see how she is doing though she only lost 1% of her bw on day 5 so I expect she will have surpassed her bw.

BadgerInBury · 21/10/2014 22:01

Thanks ladies. Went and talked more calmly to him and explained how I feel. Think he forgot I'm still recovering from birth myself so can't hardcore it like I normally would do! He's still being a bit rubbish and defensive of his plan now but I know it'll filter down over the next few hours...

binkybunny · 22/10/2014 01:09

Well first night home and already had 3 sicky episodes. DH is up feeding but I now can't sleep as I have torpedo boobs that are too painful however I lie. Finding it a bit harder than I thought and v emotional.

On the plus side she is beautiful and spent over an hour sleeping on me earlier on the sofa, was lovely Smile.

binkybunny · 22/10/2014 01:17

Sorry just posted and didn't read anyone else's posts! Badger I'm glad you sorted it out with DH, I'm shocked how tough the recovery is!

mrsb and Claire hope your infections clear up soon.

Me23 · 22/10/2014 07:13

grand total of 2 hours sleep tonight. The frustration and snapping at each other due to sleep deprivation has started.

fatpony · 22/10/2014 07:51

It's awful me isn't it. At day 11 just had the worst night ever with him. Fed pretty much every half hr from 11-5am, fussed a lot and wouldn't go in the bednest which he has been fine with up till now. We tried everything! However he is on some antibiotics for a little infection so I wonder if that is upsetting him and he seems quite snuffly too...

gunwalloe · 22/10/2014 09:09

Can I join the bad night club? Baby was awake every 1-2 hours she had been doing great so I suspect the antibiotics I'm on have gone through to her in my milk.

gunwalloe · 22/10/2014 09:11

hefner thanks for the relaxation techniques link I will give it a go
granny thanks for the info I will nip to boots and get some of the gauze

Happytimes31 · 22/10/2014 09:28

Hi ladies thank you for all the advice that night, not sure my reply added itself as bad signal in hospital. Things have definitely got much better. We are at home now Smile which weirdly made me feel nervous when I walked in but that has worn off a lot. Any CS ladies, have you had any shakes or strong nausea since coming off codeine etc?

fatpony · 22/10/2014 09:33

happy no nausea or shakes but happy to say the terrible constipation has stopped which my MW put down to the dihydrocodeine.

clairemiss79 · 22/10/2014 10:05

Happy just watch out for signs of infection. That's how mine started. Random shiveriness. It's anyone else on Co amoxiclav? I found they made my baby vomit the entire day yesterday even 3 hours after last bf. I'm now ff and expressing and my lo is so settled and happy again but i feel such guilt. I'm expressing loads to keep my supply up but I'm worried it will effect her latch :(

Happytimes31 · 22/10/2014 10:05

Ok thanks, yes mine stopped with a bang... Blush definitely not back to normal yet in the guts department Sad

fedupofrainydays · 22/10/2014 10:26

Thank god, the nipple shield seems to be acceptable. Hoping it heals quickly

Hi everyone. I lurked on the November thread- was due 5th November with my first DC, however he made an early appearance and was born via EMCS on 17/10 at 37+2 after my waters went at 37 weeks and I failed to progress past 5cm despite strong and frequent contractions (the baby was back to back and showed no sign of wanting to move to a more effective position)

Congratulations everyone on their wonderful new arrivals! I hope you don't mind me joining this group? I could definitely use some support and chat with people who are going through the same sort of thing!

Made it home yesterday and had an awful night where he wouldn't settle at all. I think the poor lamb had bad wind. He's FF because I'm severely anaemic following a haemorrhage post op and following a conversation with the MW, it was decided that it would be best for my sake. Anyone got any tips for reducing wind and hiccups? Sorry if this has been discussed already earlier in the thread- I didn't read all of the pages.

For anyone with post CS constipation, I was given Lactulose twice a day whilst in hospital and found that after two days that really helped (sorry if this is like teaching my grandmother to suck eggs!)

madamweasel · 22/10/2014 11:56

claire please don't feel any guilt whatsoever! you're just trying to do the best for your LO and that's nothing to feel guilty about. My DS had to be ff for medical reasons from birth and he's absolutely fine now, a fit and healthy strapping toddler so please don't worry or feel guilty about how you feed your baby Flowers

Happytimes31 · 22/10/2014 12:41

Welcome [sorehead] seems like we have a similar story although things kicked off just before my due date. Lactulose also did the stuff for me too. [clairemiss] thanks for the heads up, will do. Scar infection I take it? Or any random infection?

clairemiss79 · 22/10/2014 13:08

madam Thanks for the reassurance. Ff is definitely easier.
Happy i got a uterine infection but it cleared up in 24 hours after getting antibiotics

magichandles · 22/10/2014 13:59

Sorehead - I'm FF and I've found that the best things to reduce wind are regular burping - DD2 needs burping almost as soon as she's started feeding and I can usually get more out as soon as she starts to slow down or does a little cough.

Claire - I've FF 2 children from birth for medical reasons and this will be my third - no noticeable issues at all, in fact DD1 has one of the strongest immune systems of all her friends as far as I can tell! Hopefully you'll be able to go back to breast feeding as soon as possible.

I'm mildly irritated today. We had an appointment with the nurse led clinic at SCBU this morning to get DD2 weighed, and she's lost 100g since the midwife weighed her a few days ago and the same amount since she was discharged from SCBU a week ago - no discernible reason why (she's feeding at a rate to gain weight, doesn't vomit up feeds, hasn't got runny poos etc) and the nurse was perfectly happy with how she was looking and I'm to go back in a week to get her weighed again - fine.

MW is also doing a return visit on Saturday to weigh her again which was already arranged before they can discharge us - again, fine.

Then I had the bloody HV on the phone when I got back in saying that the nurse from SCBU had called her saying she was "extremely worried" that DD2 isn't gaining weight (not what the nurse said to me at all) but that I wasn't worried (I'm not, DD2 is happy, healthy and contented and does not look like a starving baby) and the HV is coming tomorrow to weigh her as well. I know they are only doing their job and it would be worse if someone fell through the net, but honestly, I really don't need 3 separate sets of people monitoring DD2's weight and clucking over whether I am ok or not. Gah.

sazzlehopes · 22/10/2014 15:13

l hello all! It's taken me an age to catch up!
Me and Ned are home after a week in the SCBU and all seems to be well. MRI didn't show anything bad, he was feeding well so they let us out. So good to be home. He'll be 3 weeks on saturday and is feeding like a trouper, in fact despite being cooled for 3 days and not feed anything during that time he's only gained weight and lost nothing! Is now 9lbs...very proud I am. However he does have some reflux things I think so it's been very interesting reading all about your stories of similar. I have to hold him up for 20/30 mins after a feed otherwise he's sick. We've raised his cot too to help at night and he makes some very odd noises sometimes - like a horse exhaling??!! I didn't have this with my first so wondering whether to just go for it and cut out diary to see if it makes a difference. Do you have any advise yellow? He doesn't scream all evening or anything like I thought babies with colic were supposed to do. Just this sicky thing, sometimes he'll bring up a mouthful or two of feed an hour later and it looks like cottage cheese....

gunwalloe · 22/10/2014 16:01

What a nightmare magic I know they mean well but it would annoy me to.
I haven't mentioned my anxiety to the health visitor for this reason I really don't want to be spied and checked up on.

Baby's been asleep for over 5 hours now after her non sleep last night I'm about to wake her as I have boobs like torpedoes and want to try and knacker her out for tonight. Does everyone wake there baby's if they go beyond 4 hours? I usually wake her at 4 but left her longer today as she was up all night.

Great that your home Sazzle

MrsBadCrumble74 · 22/10/2014 16:32

Thank you all so much for your earlier messages of support. I have finally been discharged from hospital after what can only be described as a very frightening few days. I was very ill with early sepsis and am just relieved to be home with everyone I love. The one bonus of being hospitalised was having 24/7 time with Sebastien. We have a lovely bond and bf is going well - even if he seems to be draining my boobs every hour. Is this normal? Given my previous state I feel knackered, weak but strangely energised (must be the sugar I am mainlining!)
Hope everyone else is doing well and apologies and belated congrats to any birth announcements I missed. x

MundayCakes85 · 22/10/2014 16:42

Just wanted to say I've somehow got myself a case of housemaid's knee- how the f* did that happen? Dr prescribed cocodamol, hope it won't affect baby. Just to make you all laugh- I got stuck on the toilet last night and needed rescuing by DH!! Blush
