Yay! Happy Birthday to Joey! Hope you are all having a magical day.

Not much to report here - still cruising furniture, standing for a bit, taking a few steps then plonking to the floor as everyone screams at her and puts her off! Oh and still emptying every drawer in sight... she's bloomin' hard work, but worth it!

Take care everyone xxx

mawbroon · 26/09/2006 19:46

Happy birthday Joey and well done on the first year nsnm. I can't believe it's a year, I really can't!

notsonervousmum · 26/09/2006 20:33

Thanks Everyone (and Yokefleet for setting up a new thread!). Joey seems to have enjoyed his party, he got loads of presents, and he's just gone to bed now. Hard work, but totally worth it to see his face light up

Just got The Big Clean-up before i can go to bed now...! NSNM x

Happy Birthday Joey (slightly belated)

A year already it's mad eh?

RedTartanLass · 27/09/2006 09:18

NSNM - just looking at Joey's newborn pictures,on last years thread - what a wee cutey

DontlookatmeImshy · 27/09/2006 16:11

Belated Happy Birthday to Joey.

What did you do for his party

notsonervousmum · 27/09/2006 17:41

I'll have to hassle DP into putting an up-dated picture of Joey on here.

Re his party - we had my parents and sister over, and one of his little friends (my work colleague's son). Just a tea party really, with typical 'party' food (definitely more for the adults' benefit, although Joey did eat a choc mini roll with gusto!), and the traditional present opening and birthday cake. Managed to get video footage of him blowing the candle out - so cute! Definitely embarrassment fodder for when he brings his girlfriends home in later years

He got some lovely presents, definitely with a 'train' theme (we got him the duplo Thomas set, and my mum got him a proper wooden engine). He also had a rocking horse, a swing (thanks for the inspiration Elf, and plenty of pennies to go in his bank account. A lucky boy!

Looking forward to hearing about all the upcoming birthdays.... Take care All, NSNM x

NSNM What a cutie!!!!!!!!

notsonervousmum · 28/09/2006 20:00

Thankyou Yokefleet [proud emoticon]. We think he's a cutie, but then we're naturally biased!

We've all got manky colds and coughs. I'm just relieved it didn't start until after Joey's birthday! NSNM x

Yokefleet · 28/09/2006 20:20

NSNM I hope that you are all feeling better soon.
I think Thomas is coming down with something he has slept from 6.30pm last night until 9.30 this morning, then from 11am til 1pm and again from 3pm until 4.30pm, this is very unusual for him. He ate his tea no problem but wouldn't touch his bedtime milk but went straight off to sleep as normal. Very strange.

NSNM - brill pic!
Hope all poorly babies get better soon

notsonervousmum · 29/09/2006 22:08

Yay - Joey's really found his feet now! I got him a wooden push-along trolley with alphabet bricks in as part of his birthday present, and he spends hours running behind it up and down the floor in my living room and kitchen So funny to watch!

Hope Everyone has a good weekend, NSNM x

Hello all. Not much to report here other than Johnny has started to get a mischievious look about him as he crawls round looking for things to play with. We have an archway between the living room and what used to be the dining room where we now have the pc and tv. I bought a kiddyguard because the gap was too wide for a normal stairgate. Perfect, or so I thought, but Johnny is petrified of it. He cries if I even go near it and he screams and shakes with fear if I open it and gets even worse if I close it because it makes a ratchety noise as the thing winds back in. I am not sure how best to try to get him over this fear. i have tried sitting down with him right beside it to play but he still cries. The only time he didn't cry was when I got DH to open it whilst I was bf Johnny. That worked fine, but isn't exactly practical, is it!! Any suggestions?

Yokefleet · 01/10/2006 14:53

mb we looked at the kiddyguard as we too have several places like access to the dining room and also the stairs being open but talked ourselves out of it as we didn't know anyone else who had it. I don't know what else to suggest other then the playing near it that you have already done anyway.

notsonervousmum · 01/10/2006 18:54

Sorry, no advice on the kiddiguard other than what's been suggested. We originally looked at one for our awkwardly-wide staircase, but opted for a standard gate with extra panels instead.

We took Joey to the zoo for the first time today! He squealed with delight at the tigers and his eyes were like saucers at the elephant enclosure

Anyone else's LO's being awkward with food at the mo? For the last week, Joey has refused all my lovingly home-cooked things and insists on only eating things he can feed himself! It's definitely a battle of wills at mealtimes at the moment. I've tried giving him a spoon so he can feed himself, but he won't have any of that either! It has to be firm enough for him to hold, or small enough for him to just poke in his mouth (ie, mandarin segments, grape halfs, blueberries, etc). Any advice? Thanks, NSNM x

Yokefleet · 03/10/2006 06:48

Where has this last year gone?????
Thomas is 1 today
We hope that everyone is well.

NSNM has Joey started eating normally again now? A couple of weeks ago Thomas was really off his food the only things I managed to get down him were Toast and yogurts he was like that for about a week, I decided to go to see the HV on the Thursday about it and on the Wednesday he ate all day, we put it down to teething.
P.S the zoo sounded fab!

Happy birthday to Thomas Hope you all have a great day - do you have anything special planned?

Joey ate for England yesterday, so maybe he was just teething too.

Yokefleet · 03/10/2006 10:27

We took him back to Yorkshire last week so that the rest of our family could have a birthday tea with him, so todays plan is a nice family day with my parents, sister (who's birthday is also today!) and my neice. Hopefully a walk on the beach if the weather holds and another tea party when daddy gets home from work (reminder to self: dh must book ds's birthdays off work in future!)
