PetiteRaleuse · 17/09/2014 12:19

That's fab news Eliza , well done.

Hope yw is OK.

Had a great course this morning. Mainly great because it was supposed to last three hours but I was out by half 10, so after 90 minutes, and I managed to convince the leader that my coaching business would work. This is a good thing.

I am also really chuffed with myself for driving to it without going mad over maps first. I had never been to where it was held before - and am not a confident driver. This time a year ago I was only driving to my local big supermarket, which, OK is quite a way away, and not even doing that when I could get away with not doing. I had my SAT NAV but even so, I would normally have spent the last few days poring over maps and even maybe have got DH to drive me there at the weekend so I could memorise the route.

In the last couple of months I feel I have mastered motorways and city driving. Just need to learn how to parallel park. Hmm

Zamboni · 17/09/2014 12:22

Also wondering if we have a new mini-wellies in the world!

Wanda sounds like a lovely morning Smile

Izzy be warned about that bargains thread - it's dangerous. Grin

Lily311 · 17/09/2014 12:23

pr I was the same. I drove 200km on Sunday on the motorway, and enjoyed it. Driving is getting better, I am less anxious now.

StuntNun · 17/09/2014 14:08

PR I've been driving for over 20 years and I still hate parallel parking. I'm just waiting to get one of those cars that parks for you.

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 17/09/2014 14:12

DH's car has that function but it needs a lot of space. Enough so you can forward drive into the space Grin . When I did my driving tests I was still unable to parallel park. The teacher gave up, hoping I wouldn't be asked to do it. And luckily I wasn't asked to do it in any of my tests :)

Pikz · 17/09/2014 14:39

Any news from YW?

YellowWellies · 17/09/2014 15:41

No mini wellies as yet - bed rest has slowed contractions down to every 10 minutes. They are still sooooo much less than last time - don't even want paracetamol. I'm due a second dose of steroids tonight and I'll be monitored and on a glucose and insulin drip as the steroids screw up blood sugars. Then hopefully I'll be home by lunch tomo. DH has sorted out a proxy vote for the referendum which doesn't involve him turning up in a wig! Just in case I do go into active labour. The doc who dismissed my convictions at our last appointment that this would be a September baby now agrees with me. Some point in the next 10 days he guesses. If he/she hasn't emerged and my induction is looming I'm going to ignore the bed rest advice as that has me cranking out the contractions! Oh and I highly recommend Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch - so glad I took it to my appointment yesterday it's kept me happy. All good other than hourly blood finger prick tests 24/7. Very nice to hear the wee squeaks and snuffles of the newborns - they are so quiet compared to our marauding toddlers!

Wandathewindfairy · 17/09/2014 16:20

Don't get too complacent yw Grin keep posting.... Hopefully you will be able to join our virtual referendum party tomoz night! Thinking of you chick xxx

Pikz · 17/09/2014 16:21

Glad your ok YW. Exciting that you will very soon meet mini wellies.

Are they allowing you to try naturally with the breech? Or is the looming induction a csection?

YellowWellies · 17/09/2014 16:27

Baby has been breech, cephalic, breech and cephalic today - wee sod definitely doesn't like being scanned and actively turns to avoid it. Doc reckons if baby is head down when I go into active labour I can go naturally. I think with enough walking and DTD we'll avoid induction (which is 24 days away), I'll do bed rest to get beyond 35+3 which is the arbitrary NICU limit but beyond that is fair game! Doc reckons 10 days max before baby.

Zamboni · 17/09/2014 16:36

How exciting! FX all goes well YW Thanks

Pikz · 17/09/2014 16:40

Crossing everything for head down and 6 more days then for mini wellies to appear then Grin

Jims · 17/09/2014 17:17

Glad all well yw. Hope it all goes to plan over the next week or so.

eliza fab news about the consultant and bupa. I too am v grateful for DH's work provided bupa at the min.

I have a clean house Grin

Wandathewindfairy · 17/09/2014 17:44

Wandathewindfairy · 17/09/2014 17:46

I did actually do ts one a lot with O

Wandathewindfairy · 17/09/2014 17:47

Yayyyy jims

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/09/2014 19:40

Wow yw I didn't think they could turn so far on? I'm really looking forward to hearing what you have and what you name them. Yeeps.

jims Yay for clean house. Wish mine was!

Another bit of good news today. My close friend has decided now is the time to faze out getting rid of her double buggy. So in a month or so a bjcm double will be all mine. Along with bassinet and maxi cosi adapters for free.

DD1 was off school so have spent the day in St James park with friend above and her 2 girls. Has been a good day today.

Also received quote from builders about how much our extension will cost not so good but at least we can move forward with it. Or not as the case may be!

Kyz · 17/09/2014 19:50

Evening all :) Glad all is well YW it's so exciting that mini yw number 2 will make an appearance sometime soon yes, still very broody

oh no jims what happened with cleaner 2? yaaaay for the clean house!!

distraction has worked quite well today with e, i've worked out he likes me to do silly voices and that has stopped a few tantrums. Fair enough i've looked totally ridiculous but hey ho!

FIVE stunt gosh, here's me thinking the terrible twos might last till he's, well, three. LOL!

woo not long for you either then misslaugh!

glad you're feeling better pass and P too :)

that doesn't sound too bad eliza :) yay for bupa covering the consultation whatsajig!!! that's fab news!!!

wow bp that's brilliant!!

sounds like a lovely morning wanda!

hey izzy how are you feeling?

that is indeed a brill thing pr well done :) well done also on the driving front, you have my total sympathy on the difficulties of driving and you've done great :D

PetiteRaleuse · 17/09/2014 21:09

They can turn really late. DD1 turned just before the planned cs at 38 weeks which meant my already long pre labour went on for another two weeks til the induction and emcs.

Thinking of you yw

Am kanckered. Handling the girls at a late afternoon play date was exhausting. They were all hyped up by the time we got home just before 8 and I thought they'd never go to sleep. Then they just flopped. Phew.

My laptop is dying on me and I need to back it up so will do that overnight and hope it doesn't croak mid way through. Bastarding technology.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 17/09/2014 22:10

In a lot of pain. Mix up with drs and my prescription so the chemist will only prescribe 10ml of Oramorph. Hubby will need to go sort it out tomorrow. Not sure how I'm going to be able to place my vote... Looked online but got moved from one page of faq to another!

YellowWellies · 17/09/2014 22:54

Izzy a poster on my antenatal thread posted this for those of us stuck in hospital or otherwise needing a proxy vote, hope it helps you:

"SCOTTISH MUMS!

Right it's time for me to come clean about my pre-mat leave activities, I've been working with the Electoral Commission for the company providing the Referendum helpline. I'm in England so won't be voting, however if any of you like yellow run the risk of missing out on your trip to the ballot box because of imminent birth or inpatient monitoring, here's how you can nominate someone else to act as your voting proxy.

  1. Get someone to visit www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/register_to_vote/apply_to_vote_by_proxy.aspx and print off the form which says Emergency proxy based on unavoidable absence
  1. You'll need to get a doctor, nurse, midwife or other HCP to fill in section 7 the supporter's declaration - when it asks for an address, their place of work is fine.
  1. Choose the person you want to vote on your behalf and put their details in section 2. Fill in the rest of the form too! Don't forget to tell them how you want them to vote. They must be eligible to vote in the referendum (Scottish resident and UK/EU citizen etc) however they don't have to be registered to vote.
  1. On the front page of www.aboutmyvote.co.uk, enter your postcode into the box and get the details of your Electoral Registration Office - this is where your proxy needs to take your form in order to get a proxy polling card. Some of them are PO boxes, in which case call them to see where they're located - most, but not all, will be at the council HQ.
  1. The proxy has until 5pm on referendum day to get this done, so don't hang around. You can apply for an emergency proxy vote if you suspect that you're going to need one, it doesn't have to be a done deal. If baby stays put after all, you can still take a trip to the polls yourself. Stations open at 7am so go early if you're losing plugs and having pains!

Finally, if anyone actually gives birth at the ballot box I'll drive up there and congratulate you personally"

Donnadoon · 17/09/2014 23:46

Ha ha YW I love that ^^
Good for you ! I really hope it all goes well for you! My dd3 was born at 35+3 and didn't need special care, she was 6lb 4oz Shock you are in the best place !

In other news I've been A&E tonight with Dd2, she put a bead up her nose, it was one of dd1s bracelet making beads
We tried to wiggle it down, we tried " mothers kiss " , we tried pepper to make her sneeze
But the lovely young ear nose and throat nurse hooked it out in seconds bless her
Vair stressful but done now and lessons learned hopefully

Wandathewindfairy · 18/09/2014 07:14

yw personally and obviously being an expert Wink I think you are in latent labour. Apparently lots of people don't notice it but I did for DC 2 and 4.

But with 4 I knew what was going on so I enjoyed it. I relished knowing that probably (judging by dc2) baby would arrive in about 4 days and really cherished those last moments of carrying him before all hell was going to be let loose. I cosied up on the sofa, DH worked from home and we watched a stash of dodgy straight to tv films on sky plus, taking the odd walk over to Costa for a cinnamon latte. The leaves were on the ground and the autumn knits were out. A couple of people popped into say hi but we kept to ourselves.

So my bet is the weekend. Anyone else care to join my mini wellies sweepstake.

Stay upside down please! Grin

Where are my children. Again. I have even had my poached eggs in peace.

BigPigLittlePig · 18/09/2014 08:01

I have washed and dressed, hung out a load of washing and made beef stew so far this morning. Sadly not in peace though!

Wandathewindfairy · 18/09/2014 08:10

Good going bp are you working today?
