Hey donna how are you?

Yes, the nights are drawing in. Winter casseroles, soups, and pies... Step this way :)

Donnadoon · 08/09/2014 21:17

Hi PR I'm great thanks
I made leek and potato soup today , gosh it was so nice, my mouth still watering thinking about it.

Wandathewindfairy · 08/09/2014 22:17

Cosy nights with a fire and DH. Grin

Pikz · 09/09/2014 07:28

Oooohhhhhh love a winters night

Lily311 · 10/09/2014 14:10

Hot water bottle and good book. Love winter.

Zamboni · 10/09/2014 14:13

Ooh yes, good book and mulled wine and a mince pie

Excellent thread killing Lily - I was about to offer S's tantrum as a mechanism for torture to death but you beat me! Said tantrum over Lol-lols (ice lollies) not being immediately available - someone going to miss AI I think!

Hi Donna!!

Zamboni · 10/09/2014 14:16

I read a v good book on hol. Judged by the fact it has stayed with me a lot since, made me laugh and made me cry. Life After Life by Kate Atkinson in case anyone is interested. I picked it as I'd liked her Behind The Scenes At The Museum.

Elizadoesdolittle · 10/09/2014 14:30

I got distracted from thread killing by the Christmas bargain thread!

I read that book zamboni. Another book I read recently was called the first last kiss. By Alison someone or other. At the moment I am reading a book about a mother of 2 in her early thirties who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Love a cheerful read me!

ChasingDaisy · 10/09/2014 14:33

Will try and keep up with this thread!

Love winter. Hot water bottle, book, blanket, big jumpers. Lovely.

ChasingDaisy · 10/09/2014 14:33

Ooh Christmas bargain thread! Off I pop...

PetiteRaleuse · 10/09/2014 15:14

Envy of Christmas bargains.

QuicheMama · 10/09/2014 18:15

Fucking Cunting place marking Wink

Wandathewindfairy · 10/09/2014 18:31

Where the fuck is it? Can't find it anywhere.

YellowWellies · 10/09/2014 18:48

Life after life is one of my favourite reads. I'm loving Donna Tartt's Goldfinch ATM. But be warned if you've lost a Mummy my god its a tear jerker!

I want autumn to be here - I haz lovely new winter boots to wear. ignores fact I can barely bend over to put them on

Wandathewindfairy · 10/09/2014 18:50

Wandathewindfairy · 10/09/2014 18:51

YellowWellies · 10/09/2014 19:35

I got it whilst preggers with J so look on eBay for 2012 joules dresses. Smile Feeling very proud that a stylish Wanda wants a dress like mine.

Wandathewindfairy · 10/09/2014 19:37

Shock I am flattered! You all always look fabuloso.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/09/2014 19:38

Ooh I bought The Goldfinch but it is sitting in my wobbling towering pile of books to read.

It looks like a great book. Am forcing myself to finish books before starting new ones. So am reading how eskimos keep their children warm (meh, such a good idea for a book, but not as good as it could be) on paper and some
Journo's autobiography on kindle.

Plus various coaching and nlp books of course.

Zamboni · 10/09/2014 19:42

So. Bedtimes. Ours has been getting progressively worse. Holiday was a brief respite as we all went to bed together at 11pm and DC were too exhausted to object. I know it's first day back home so some out of kilter-ness is to be expected, but DD has gone to bed quickly and without fuss whereas S has been screaming, SCREAMING, for 45 mins, can't be soothed and ultimately worked himself into such a rage that he's needed to be rocked into calming down and is screaming again the second this stops. This is becoming a v regular bedtime requirement. He's far too bloody heavy to be rocked like a newborn. I don't remember DD being such a pain at this age but then I didn't do her bedtime for a long while because S was tiny and cluster feeding like no tomorrow. I'm getting to the stage of wanting to make his room safe and just Stairgate him into it but not sure I could manage a whole evening of screaming rage.

Oh, and since we have been at home all I can smell is stinky drains. Deep joy considering what that could be / cost to remedy.

Grump, grump, grump.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/09/2014 19:58

Could his ears be hurting from the flight zamboni

Zamboni · 10/09/2014 20:00

It's possible PR but this isn't untypical at bedtime. He's been utterly charming and fun all afternoon and then tantrum Central when it's time for bed.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/09/2014 20:06

Oh. It's ToddlerSod syndrome then.
