chip legally he has to start full-time education the term after his fifth birthday, which would be January 2017, which would mean going straight into year one because reception isn't compulsary. Generally though he should be starting reception September 2016.

Hope you're ok northern Flowers

NorthernChinchilla · 24/03/2015 21:58

Hello all, thank you so much for all the kind thoughts.
Yesterday went fine; I woke at 2.30am in the hotel, and that was it for the night, but got to the hospital fine. Poor, poor DP called me at 7- the time he should have been dropping DS off at nursery- to say that DS had had the mother of all poospolsions, over himself, the sofa, the cushions, his PJs, the throws, everything, and so was up to his elbows sorting it out.

By chance I had a hospital room overlooking the entrance to the hotel, so although the theatre staff had just turned up I actually saw DP drive in and could delay them wheeling me down to theatre by a few minutes so he could see me off.

Op went fine, and it's amazing to think even with a GA I was able to leave at lunchtime. Have just flopped around the house, watched Time Team and read Sir Terry P. Barring an hour of vicious cramps this evening, I've been amazed at how 'normal' I've felt. The hideous stress of waiting for the operation has of course passed, which was the worse bit, but I'm aware that I'm likely to be randomly wobbly for a while.

I'm going to get a memory box for the scan photos, and the letters/cards I've received, so it can go with DS's one. DP and I wanted to mark it in some way, and this seems best.

chip, that all sounds really weird what the school is telling you; have you checked with the local authority?

OP posts:
Chips1999 · 26/03/2015 08:30

Ahhh the school and the county council have given me the wrong information! I've checked with a friend whose son is the same age and she called the council and they gave her the wrong dates too tears hair out DH has emailed the council and they've confirmed Sept 16 which is what I'd originally thought when I was planning maternity leave and returning to work etc.! Panic over!

I'm glad the op went ok Northern, I think the memory box is a lovely idea. Lots of rest and tlc for you now BrewCake

Chips1999 · 26/03/2015 09:09

I'm just looking at DS and he seems to have grown AGAIN! He's wearing 3-4 year size which just fits....Still at least I get to do some shopping I guess Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 26/03/2015 12:08

How on earth did they manage to get that wrong chip, that's so weird.... Glad to hear that it's sorted and it's looking less dire for you in terms of your wages.

Felt very down yesterday, didn't want to speak to anyone, or even text. Just curled up on the sofa. Not made any better by realising that in my booking in notes, as they'd only got my LMP to go on, the baby's EDD was my birthday Sad
Am going to try going into town today, see if I can face people...

On a happier note, a bird has built a nest on the wall right outside our kitchen window, in the bit where it meets the shed, so it's literally about a foot away. It's clearly keeping some eggs warm so we'll be watching intently....

OP posts:
Aethelfleda · 26/03/2015 17:10

Aaarg. DS has just exploded both ends, with no warning whatsoever.
Send Dettol. And an XXL coffee, think I may be needing it...

mopsytop · 26/03/2015 19:55

Oh dear aethel. D&V going around Minimopsy's nursery, as is scarlet fever. So far she's escaped ... Fingers crossed.

Figster · 26/03/2015 23:22

Ds threw up on plane earlier he told me he was ill I ignored him as was very hot do thought it was that next thing I know capri sun and half a cheese sandwich all over row 19 Confused he then has been a lunatic again running with his cousin and wearing a tinkerbell dress Grin

I'm shaking my arse off though dh cold had invaded and brought fevers and chills ......can't sleep.

NorthernChinchilla · 27/03/2015 20:43

How are all the puking ones across the country?

Scary about the scarlet fever mopsy, have seen there's been a sudden upsurge in cases.

DS has toilet trained almost instantly and perfectly for wees, but not poos. He waits til he has his pull ups on for night time then uses them; last night his excuse for coming down stairs to be changed was because he thought he could hear a duck quacking... 10/10 for inventiveness, 0/10 for guile!

Aethelfleda · 27/03/2015 22:43

we love Dettol..... we love Dettol..... we also love washing machines....
really hope this settles by the end of the weekend.....
(and yes, I'm not meant to be on here. Lent be hanged. I need the company!)

mopsytop · 28/03/2015 11:48

Oh dear aethel :(

NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2015 12:54

How are you and DS doing aethel? Most importantly, how's the washing machine holding up?!

We're at a farm/outdoor play place DS loves, have bought a year's membership today as well. Cold and windy at the moment, but otherwise fine.

OP posts:
JustSeven · 28/03/2015 14:52

Hope he's better soon aethel, and that it's not contagious!

northern DD1 potty trained for wees months ago, but was waiting for night time then pooing in her pull-ups. She was adamant she didn't want to poo on the potty no matter how much bribery was offered. She's started doing it on the potty a couple of weeks ago and hasn't done it in her pull-ups since. He may just stop doing it when he's ready.

I spoke to my mum this morning, my parents have had £4600 stolen from their bank account. They only noticed because they were going to transfer some into their ISA before the end of the tax year. They've got £1600 back, the fraud squad reckon they need to investigate the rest. They got back from holiday yesterday so not the best welcome home.

Chips1999 · 28/03/2015 15:03

Oh no that's horrible Seven, hope the bank refund the money ASAP!

We're having a lazy day today, both DC have snotty noses, DH and I feel like we're about to get a cold and the weather is miserable Sad

I need to get a bit of motivation to mop the kitchen and bathroom floors....mumsneting is more fun though!

Aethelfleda · 28/03/2015 16:37

It's fiiine....

mopsytop · 28/03/2015 17:03

Hope it is as windy at yours aethel as it is here, to dry all that laundry!

mopsytop · 28/03/2015 17:04

Oh no seven, that's terrible Hmm

We have been putting back up pictures, mirrors etc now the decorator is finished. Only the carpeting and kitchen to go now! The place is beginning to look fabliss, if I do say so myself!

Aethelfleda · 28/03/2015 17:51

Oh no seven, just seen your story of nasty missing ££. Much sympathy, I really hope it gets sorted out quickly. Suitably jealous mopsy re the fab house. Ours has the "lived-in" look (will
Be dragging out the carpet cleaner later in an attempt to resuscitate the lounge carpet).
And it's too cold for washing to dry here, so am shamelessly abusing the tumble-dryer in the garage!...

NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2015 19:24

I'm hoping so seven, and am just letting him progress as he wants, with lots and lots of reminders about where poos go.... I've been rewarded (not entirely sure that's the right word, but still....) with two requests to poo on the toilet and two huge farts Hmm TMI but we're going in the right direction!
Awful about your parents- has a banking cock up been ruled out so far? Glad it's being looked into by police and bank and hope the money is returned swiftly- keep us posted.
How's DS doing by the way?

Glad you're still standing aethel, and use that dryer as much as is needed! Hope everything is OK for tomorrow.

It's all sounding lovely mopsy, worth the wait Smile .

About to order in a Thai, but DS is having a tiredness meltdown upstairs, so listening to see if reinforcements are needed....

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2015 19:38

.....and the Thai place is too busy to do takeaway, so I think DP is going to have a meltdown as well.... That was going to be his big treat Sad

OP posts:
mopsytop · 28/03/2015 20:38

Oh no Northern! I hate when you're really looking forward to a take out treat and it doesn't happen! Especially Thai nom!

We are having fish pie that I made Thursday ... Fantastic fish pie (Jamie Oliver) but with low fat crème fraîche instead of dbl cream and barely any cheese and no butter in the mash topping. Is still v nice but there's no denying that the full fat version is a lot nicer... Hey ho. Need to lose the baby chub!

NorthernChinchilla · 28/03/2015 20:55

Ooooh, love fish pie, I do a Marcus Wearing (sp?) one that doesn't use cream and is very tasty.
Thank fuck our local Sainsburys is close and had some steak. Wouldn't normally be a fusspot but given the fortnight we've had I wanted DP to have a 'treaty' Saturday.

OP posts:
Figster · 28/03/2015 21:19

Sil and I had a Chinese tonight have been ill with cold for days no appetite or sense of taste but thought would try to eat something.

Ds and my niece had a lovely day soft play was enjoyed for what felt like hours ds and I hanging with this cough happily stayed in tonight have oldest friends lo 1st bday party tomorrow then various running rounds to see people.

Early to bed tonight

mopsytop · 28/03/2015 21:47

Oooh steak nice alternative! Yum!

Fish pie isn't as nice second time heated up cos I had salmon as well as haddock and cod and the salmon got overcooked on reheating ...still fairly nice though. I made a cocktail with gin, elderflower liqueur and lime juice which was YUM though!!! Bed now methinks. Only getting up once a night but I still need to go to sleep early.

mopsytop · 29/03/2015 18:50

Mopsyboy has very swollen lymph node behind right ear and slightly swollen behind left ear. Brought him to GP Friday cos his excema on chest, tummy and back was so bad I was worried was scarlet fever. GP thought most likely excema. He is happy and content, no temp and with lots of cream rash seems slightly improved although still fairly bad. Cause to worry if he's well in himself? No temp, taking bottles fine, napping as usual, loads of smiles.
