Happy manufactured love day

My act of devotion was to take my currently crippled dh to wales twitching as he couldn't drive himself. Saw myself a little bunting apparently I should've very excited about it

mopsytop · 14/02/2015 14:36

My vally day is babysitting while MrMopsy goes to see Simon Rattle and the Berlin Phil doing Mahler 2 at Festival Hall. I think it is jolly generous of me. Booked the tix over a year ago before Mopsyboy was even thought of. Was supposed to be going too!

mopsytop · 14/02/2015 14:38

I'd love a bottle of champagne though. And chocolates. Sigh. We don't do vally day to be fair! Just random that the concert happens to be today.

Figster · 14/02/2015 14:50

It's consumerised love day.......tosh!!!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/02/2015 22:10

Ah but tosh is fuuuuun Grin . We enjoy a posh meal at home n do cards, and generally cocktails.
Very generous of you mopsy, hope he has fun and that you get a night out in return!

In bought dh an anti v card it's still in my card couldn't even do that right Grin

Aethelfleda · 15/02/2015 12:40

We had a family day and blew out the diet. No romanticism here! (Plus DH is still a bit tired from ropy tonsils.

hinkyhonk · 16/02/2015 08:45

Argh pur normal childminder is ill and it's half term so no school or preschool. How does everyone else cope with this and attempt to hold down a job? Back up childcare (mum and dad) are away on a long hol too. What is the point slogging my guts out at work trying to do well when it's alaeys going to be scuppered by things like this....

NorthernChinchilla · 17/02/2015 08:52

I know what you mean hinky, we'll be going broke for years paying for childcare in the holidays. Seems mad to me as well that DS will go from full time at nursery to part time (with shorter days and long holidays) at school.

How's everyone's tonsils aethel?

Relatively calm here, though nursery are STILL napping DS. So a 7.30 bedtime, where he instantly falls asleep and stays asleep til 6.30 at weekends is turned into raising hell til 8.45 pm in the week. Angry

mopsytop · 17/02/2015 22:25

Not just the money but the hassle of trying to organise before and after school care. Nursery SO much easier! I am dreading it!!

Figster · 18/02/2015 08:25

Well Ds got out of his car seat on the way to childminder today and when I told him the police man would come and tell him off he got back on and threw his shoe at me while I was driving all his favourite toys are being taken away and he's on a tv ban.

That was after he refused to eat breakfast, refused to brush his teeth and get his shoes on I had to carry him to car and he was clinging on to door so dh had to come put him in.

Cm says he's fine now playing happily with her kids who are home on half term.

I can't wait for him to go to school Hmm

NorthernChinchilla · 19/02/2015 21:02

We've had a fun one too, some vomiting bug laid DP low, I seemed to get a mild dose that just a few me really nauseous. Ended up going to bed at 7 and sleeping through, 11 hours Shock !

Oh dear figgy. If it's any consolation Minimopsy has started in on the fearsome tantrums again. Thought she wd hurt herself last night she was so beside herself Hmm But so sweet after tellinge how she loved me daddy and Mopsyboy very much the best in the world.

Rejected from two fellowships this week. Very downhearted. Looking increasingly like I'll have no job come September Hmm????????

mopsytop · 23/02/2015 22:43

I killed the thread Hmm

Figster · 24/02/2015 10:57

Don't worry mopsy sure it wasn't you busy weekends busy toddlers (are they still toddlers??) and I've got the lurgy too Hmm

AF came Thursday Dh said he was disappointed I wasn't pg which is a massive turn around can't decide whether to lay off ttc this month to avoid chance of another dec baby or just get on with it

mopsytop · 24/02/2015 11:15

Why not a December baby figgy?

NorthernChinchilla · 24/02/2015 12:29

I'd crack on figster, if DH is currently pro-baby then I'd make the most of it!

Sorry to hear about the work woes too mopsy, think you're probably in one of the most difficult 'markets' to crack. Nothing to do but keep plugging on...

Not too bad here at the moment, haven't wanted to throttle DS (or DP Wink ) all week! Up North tomorrow for a long weekend and will tell parents the good news too.

Figster · 24/02/2015 12:31

Clash with Christmas, clash with ds bday, weather - dh worried about driving conditions to hospital again, I want to take ds to Lapland uk this year would be too pg to go.

Good point is the whole 15hrs free childcare at 3 would be right after bday rather than wait for Easter term

Hmm not sure Grin

LordJabuJabu · 24/02/2015 12:33

Go for it, you've no idea how long it'll take and if you're still ttc in a few years there will always be that what if?

Nothing much to report here, house Is still more of a money pit thN 3 dc's!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 24/02/2015 15:32

Hello, fell off tread. Hope everyone is well.

Faffin · 25/02/2015 20:44

Argh! 10 of the 48 kids at DD's school were off with a sickness bug today. Her teacher made everyone gel their hands as they arrived this morning, and was disinfecting everything in sight, but I fear it's only a matter of time. And we're heading to center Parcs for the weekend on Friday Sad

Faffin · 26/02/2015 05:13

And, as predicted, we are now in pukesville too Sad

LordJabuJabu · 26/02/2015 06:58

No Faffin!!! That's grim, what do you think you'll do abou Centre pArcs?

Ds1 had hit the terrible 3's, this week we've had spitting, hitting and being a wee gobshite. Dh is taking him out for the day so hopin some exclusive parenting time will help.

Nursery have started doing time outs with him. So we're trying them at home, hate it

Faffin · 26/02/2015 07:06

We're going to have to see how long it lasts and whether or not anyone else catches it. Could always go to center Parcs in two batches if it came to it I guess.

Gotta love those threenagers. I hope the day out helps

NorthernChinchilla · 27/02/2015 06:48

Oh God faffin, how's the puking now? Have all come down with it or is it still just the kids? Sounds really grim for you all, even without the Centre Parcs conundrum.

It's threenager ahoy here too LordJ. DS actually had a good day here at my Mum's, but was utterly refusing to listen to me/do what he was told for several hours, and then would not say sorry for it all afternoon. The Duplo went away and there was no bedtime story as a result. Ridiculous to get into a battle of wills with a toddler, but I had to carry through.

Not helped by the fact that his father is going through one of his periodic 'thoughtless teenager' modes. Yes, that's right DP, you just watch your football and don't even think of doing the packing or housework before we drive up to see family. Leave it to your partner to skivvy after you, never mind she's pregnant and therefore even more knackered. Tit. Angry
