Toddler tantrums FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 06/02/2015 18:14

DH came home early from work and I basically ran out the door. Spent half an hour browsing in Aldi as just wanted to be out of the house.

Figster · 06/02/2015 18:43

He's been fine all day then fell asleep in car coming back from supermarket thought an hours sleep would do him good from the moment he woke up he screamed cried hit kicked was in an utter fury wouldn't drink anything despite clearly bring thirsty as he gets like they when dehydrated an hour later his bedroom has every toy and book on the floor he's pulled a hook with his dressing gown out if the wall busting the plaster round it in the process. I was ready to walk out too but I have an evening of work to do Confused

Gaaaaaah

mopsytop · 06/02/2015 18:47

Oh dear. Sounds like hellish days all round. For once in a way we had a lovely day playing with only 1.5 tantrums (the 0.5 is one I managed to head off before it got too bad) and lots of fun. Minim now upstairs crying cod she fell asleep on the sofa but woke up when Mr Mopsy tried to bring her to bed and she doesn't want to go although she's clearly totally exhausted! Meanwhile Mopsyboy is snoozing and I'm enjoying an elderflower martini Wine (same as a normal martini but with elderflower liqueur instead of vermouth).

Have to take up hall carpet and all the nailed down plasterboard underneath later tho so I hope I'm not too pissed! Having it sanded next week yay! No more gross carpet.

Also ordered our kitchen and had all the decorator and plasterer quotes and made my decision so long as the final quote is ok. So hopefully can get on with making house gorgeous! Can't WAIT to lose the magnolia!!

Figster · 06/02/2015 19:25

I have a bottle of wine ready for when ds goes to bed though he doesn't seem keen!!

He's discovered minions and the incredibles in the last few weeks he absolutely loves the incredibles which is a nice change!!

mopsytop · 06/02/2015 19:43

Ooh figgy, haven't tried The Incredibles, must do so. Minim loves the minions, she calls them the onions. She calls the muppets the muffins. So cute! Don't want her to learn the real names !!

NorthernChinchilla · 07/02/2015 08:08

Hope you both have at least one empty bottle of wine in the recycling figster & hop, and that today is calmer. Can I also nominate fig for a award for her brilliant summing up of the joy of tantrums!

Know exactly where you're coming from mopsy, every. single. room. In our house was magnolia with a different type of brown carpet. To be fair, the carpets are good quality and hide a multitude of sins, so we're just painting most rooms- downstairs is duck egg, our room will be mainly red, kid/s' room/s not yet decided Smile . May get some wall art for DS, found some really cool stuff on not on the high street.

DS. Viral tonsils. Not the best combo. Thank heaven for neurofen....

Aethelfleda · 08/02/2015 10:05

oh and Northern, we got some great vinyl wall stickers (gothic butterflies) for my teenage neice on Amazon (there are also good ones on ebay apparently). DS was given a Winnie-the-pooh one by someone and totally loves it (says night night and good morning to it!!)

Figster · 08/02/2015 12:36

For those of you on Facebook you've seen the highlight of my day for those of you not ds is a horrible child who was dragged kicking and screaming out of the local aquarium after not accepting that he could not retrieve his discarded lollipop from a bin. I've been punched kicked and generally clawed at by what at times resembles a wild animal. Oh and then he wet himself on the cat as he refused to go to toilet all morning!!

And as dh is out all day I have the joy of ds sole company until 7pm

Great!!

Figster · 08/02/2015 12:37

Note he didn't wet himself on the cat but in the car we don't have a cat though the autocorrect there has helped a little bit to cheer me up

Aethelfleda · 08/02/2015 14:06

I Was gonna say... Good shot Figgyboy if you can hit a moving target!

Grim though. Sympathies. Maybe he's coming down with something. dS was right out of sorts/clingy for 24 hours before his tonsils went yucky. Otherwise I'm afraid it's being a Threenager... Just be firm, consistent and try not to let him get to you too much...

NorthernChinchilla · 08/02/2015 18:16

Ah, poor DS aethel, bet he's suffering a bit with that. I think there's a few of us on here that have been recurrent tonsillitis sufferers, so really empathise. How's he doing? And guess either you or DH will need some time off work.

Yep, your DS peeing on the cat had me like this > Grin , car is much less humorous! Sorry it was such a shit day figster, threenagers ahoy. Actually it was funny seeing Dad and Step M interacting with my just-coming-into-teens bro and my just-hitting-mid-teens-and-slightly-more-reasonable sis. Soooooo many similarities to conversations I have with DS!

Aethelfleda · 08/02/2015 20:44

He's ok, though he has grotty looking tonsils his temp is down a bit and he's started eating a little. Am keeping him off tomorrow and if he stays perky we'll sit it out without angling for antibiotics. If he's miserable we'll harrass visit the local GP. Right now he's ok if a bit clingy. But yeah, he's not had tonsillitis before. Am hoping this is not going to be a repeated thing.

mopsytop · 09/02/2015 10:02

Oh dear aethel hope he feels better soon! And figgy boy figgy.

Have finally got all the quotes and organised decorator and plasterer. Having hall sanded and oiled this week and decorator starting next week. Cannot wait until is all gorgeous!

Figster · 09/02/2015 18:53

Stabbing pains in the left side of my abdomen .....I had better be pg as otherwise I'm stumped

mopsytop · 09/02/2015 20:04

Oooh exciting figgy! How soon can you test? I'm guessing at least ten days?

Figster · 09/02/2015 21:05

God knows mopsy AF been so over the place the last few months probably 10 days though.

NorthernChinchilla · 09/02/2015 21:43

Fingers crossed figster, keep us posted! But keep on DTD just in case Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 09/02/2015 21:44

And how is DS doing aethel, any improvement? Hope he's perked up a bit.

OP posts:
Aethelfleda · 10/02/2015 18:46

He's doing OK thanks northern though the GP said it looked like antibiotics might help, he hates the taste (no mummy, yucky medicine. Want THAT medicine instead, it nice )
Will wrestle it in for 5 days at least but not fun to do, even though it does seem to be settling things, especially at nights.

NorthernChinchilla · 10/02/2015 21:39

Ah yes, DS here would neck "better jooooooooce" all day if he could. Grim to have to wrestle it into him, but at least he should be improving in a couple of days.

DP had to tell friend he wasn't going to the wedding in the Middle East tonight. Still no idea when we'll tell the 'rents. Starting on the neuroses already, as I don't feel as knackered as I did last time, and am googling early dating scans.....

Figster · 11/02/2015 14:27

Working from home today can't focus though have done some washing. Ah I'm very exciting aren't i!!

mopsytop · 13/02/2015 17:19

Sounds about as exciting as my life figgy!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/02/2015 09:55

Well, I've had three Valentine's Day cards AND feel reassuringly knackered and shite despite 97845 hours of sleep Grin. Achy boobs & head rushes too, which are new ones. Now if we can just persuade DS to stop acting like a bluebottle after 6 pints of coffee we'll be on a winner!
