OiMissus · 27/11/2014 20:53

The men don't get it, do they? They believe in discipline at all costs. And the costs are screaming children!
I am also too soft, apparently. But I always did prefer laughter to tears, call me stoopid!!
Aw! Imminent babies! Such a lovely thought. Sorry that you're feeling heavy and uncomfortable, but as you know, it'll all be worth it very soon. Grin

LordJabuJabu · 28/11/2014 06:37

Lurking (& name changed again), the other one due in dec.
Ds1 has suddenly decided he wants to be a baby so has wet himself twice in the last few days and wants to sleep in the cot with ds2....look forward to seeing what he does when baby finally arrives (37wks). Poor sod!

Nothing much to report here, had been in/out triage all last week & expected to have the baby by now.

Mopsy, brilliant bargains! Still have to buy something big for ds2 & they both need a 'present from the baby'. Argh!

Figster · 28/11/2014 20:20

Jabu sorry to hear you unwell noticed on FB comments about hospital bags what's wrong?

Aethel you called it hour and a half wait at dr tonight ds has hand foot and mouth hoping the cm will take him Monday I had the day off for a me day was going to spend day only own go shopping have lunch and stop for hot choc somewhere am very upset at prospect of that not happening.

We are rehoming the skunk tomorrow he's unhappy we can't contain him he escapes or he bangs so much at night we can't sleep dh and I at each other's throats every night with the stress of stopping him from damaging the sofa or the wall and the worst is he's climbing INSIDE the new leather sofas and pissing in them. Only decided last night got a lovely experienced animal business owning volunteer within about 3 minutes. I can't bare the thought of it of failing him but he's got to better off.

Happy fucking Friday Sad

Aethelfleda · 28/11/2014 21:32

Woo hoo! polishes badge
You should be OK, figgy, HFM isn't infectious as long as chickypox, our nursery is pretty strict with quarantines and even they say only 2-3 days off for HFM. He will have infected anyone there that he's gonna already...
big hugs about skunky, but he's got to the stage where he needs something else, you have had lots of good times with him, and it's far better that you make someone else happy who can look after him. no guilt, dude!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 28/11/2014 21:49

DS would not go to sleep tonight. He's not normally like this, but after an hour of me lying next to him while he grumbled and refused to sleep I gave up and walked out. He threw a wobbly and then took himself off to sleep in the spare room. I gave him a kiss and told him he could stay in the big bed, but mummy wouldn't be joining him. He was like 'whatever mum, I just want to sleep in the double bed.'

So I have made myself some pancakes.

Boo to hand foot and mouth figgy. This week we've got impetigo. Grim.

Aethelfleda · 28/11/2014 22:23

hey, I had the day "off" today - was planning to take DS out somewhere, but then DD1 got a lurgy so I had an extra (possibly toxic) child, so bye bye day out and hello quiet-day-in-pacifying-children. Tis the season, right...

LordJabuJabu · 28/11/2014 22:28

Sorry to hear about Skunky, it's so hard when you're doing your best for them & have to make that horrible decisions (also so sorry it hasn't worked out for you after your last lovely skunk).

Also sorry about the HFM...hope it's not too grim & you manage some sort of shopping trip.

Didn't realise my fb post looked so dramatic! I've been resisting the call of hospital packed snacks for a week now (spent 4 nights up there last week for various reasons but baby & I still doing well & no reasons to panic)!

Enjoy the pancakes Hoppy! Grrh for bedtime, ds2 is coughing like a chain smoking 90yr old so not in for a good night here.

Hope everyone has a better than average weekend!

Figster · 28/11/2014 22:52

Ds is going to be so upset but thankfully he will forget before I or DH will.

Getting out the gin tomorrow night Hmm

Chips1999 · 29/11/2014 03:51

Hi everyone, had to name change slightly as couldn't seem to get logged into MN.

Due date has been and gone (yesterday), so I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea and trying to stay calm. I think I might kill DM...I cannot watch tv with her, she just moans non-stop e.g. Emmerdale "that Debbie's got AWFUL skin hasn't she", "that Moira looks horrible with her hair short, she's actually quite pretty but she's very fat isn't she?". I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here "Micheal Buerk was a proper news broadcaster - what's he doing on here?", "who are these people?", the motorbike guy "I don't like men with long grey hair". Agh! I've told DH to tell me if I start doing this!

Sorry to hear about the skunk Figgy but hopefully you'll get more sleep and less cleaning required soon, sounds like you're doing the right thing.

Hope that you are feeling better Jabu and a speedy delivery soon! The last weeks of pregnancy aren't much fun!

I've now 'finished' Christmas shopping, just waiting on one delivery and then I will finish wrapping up presents. I'll get the baby something once he or she has arrived.

I've also bought DS's birthday presents, booked his party for January and sent out invitations. All I need to do now is buy party bags and fillers, a cake and the food will be nice and easy!

Struggling to sleep through the night, but I'm going to have an afternoon nap each day now as it's catching up with me. I am definitely better at dealing with tiredness now though - DS has trained me well!

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 04:56

Ugh pregnancy insomnia.

Sorry to hear about skunky figgy and about HFM Sad

Chip hope all OK. I was in being monitored yesterday and have to go back in in the morning for more monitoring/blood tests as the blood tests were raised for certain things. They didn't sound too worried, said it was just a precaution. I'm so big and uncomfortable. Just want this baby out now.

Sorry to hear about various lurgy/days out cancelled. 'Tis the season alright.

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 04:57

jabu I mean, sorry. You're OK right chip? no complications so far?

Chips1999 · 29/11/2014 06:55

Yep all okay here Smile Just keep waking myself up from my own snoring Blush My midwife said last time it's completely normal during pregnancy and the antenatal ward sounds like there's a herd of elephants at night time Grin

Hope you're ok Mopsy always better they check stuff out to be on the safe side.

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 11:36

Yeah I'm snoring too chip. The glamour of pregnancy eh!

In hospital, on monitor. Have had bloods done. Pretty tedious.

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 16:07

Ugh. Blood results showing that I'm on border of pre-eclampsia. Booked for induction Monday Sad Sad

Aethelfleda · 29/11/2014 16:26

Aw, mopsy, sorry to hear that...but yay for getting to meet LO soon, and here's to a speedy, calm and OK induction for you

Figster · 29/11/2014 17:12

Well he's gone was sobbing all over the place the house has been de skunk proofed even took the stair gate off the bottom of the stairs as Ds big enough now to not worry us on the stairs 1st time in 8 years in this house we've not climbed over barriers of some kind. Got either 22 jump street or guardians of the galaxy to watch tonight

Mopsy do not fear induction I know there's so many horror stories it it can also be quiet calm and reassuring I can't exactly say I had a great time obviously but if I could choose another labour like it or go unknown if do it again

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 17:42

Well I'm not going to stress over it. If it is a choice of induction or let pre eclampsia develop, obviously induction wins every time! What will be will be. I'll just go with the flow. Got bit anxious there cos baby not moved much all day (even on monitor took ages to get movement) but came and lay down with a big iced glass of lime cordial and hey presto, he got wriggling. Feeling very relieved.

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 17:42

Doctor gave me a sweep earlier also but so far has had no effect.

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 17:44

PS sorry about your skunk figgy

Chips1999 · 29/11/2014 17:55

Fingers crossed the sweep might take effect overnight for you Mopsy, main thing is to rest as much as possible. If it's any help the midwife running the antenatal refresher course said she was induced and found the contractions did build up gradually like a normal labour.

I sort of wish I had a date, I'm a lot more anxious this time and looking for any possible signs!

mopsytop · 29/11/2014 18:10

I'm both more and less anxious if that makes sense. Anxious about coping with two and apprehensive about labour as was so bloody awful last time, but I also know I got through it before so that helps.

OiMissus · 29/11/2014 18:28

If it makes you feel any better, a friend of mine, who had a horrid first birth, practically just sneezed her second one out!
Her contractions built over time, but then she went from being 3cm to having him within the hour. And she didn't have to push. At. All. !!!!
And she's tiny. Tiny frame. Size 10, if that. Baby was 6lb 10. Grin
Had a lovely day today. Lovely sunny day with 3 other little 'uns, and their mums or dads, running around a park for about 4 hours. Perfect!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 29/11/2014 18:36

My Christmas cake looks...odd. I dunno how to describe it, it's kind of grainy looking? I beat it to death but the eggs were just not wanting to combine properly. Hope it tastes ok, I shall cover it in marzipan and hope for the best.

Chips1999 · 29/11/2014 19:42

I know what you mean Mopsy, I think I was more relaxed the first time as I just knew it would be the most painful thing ever and that I had no idea what it would be like so I just put it out of my head! This time around, I know and remember the pain and I feel like I need to 'live up' to how well I managed last time around.

Also worried about how I'll manage with two, but I think things will be easier with a newborn and toddler than being this heavily pregnant with a toddler!

It's been lovely weather here too Oi, glad you managed to make the most of it.

I'm sure the cake will turn out lovely Hop - if not ensure you have a Wine to wash it down Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 29/11/2014 20:36

Give people strong cheese with it hop. And lots of port.
Looks like you're going to be first mopsy, bet you're somewhere between terrified and excited. I'm excited on your behalf Grin !

Enjoying my little break with family, going to see if anyone has the energy for the pub Wink
