Oh festivity!
Maybe Ms OiMistletoe should return...

SevenSwansASwimming · 08/11/2014 19:59

Glad to hear you're trying to get things back on track Oi. I think baby steps is the right way to go :)

Figster · 08/11/2014 20:17

Our best friends have just told us they're pg they went through ivf for no.1 with a less than 1%chance of natural conception they decided in august they wouldn't go through ivf again decision made and then BANG pg in September of course they've never used contraception as chances were pretty much nil I'm so happy for her he's only just coming round to it he has always wanted to stop at 1 Grin it's so unexpected

mopsytop · 08/11/2014 20:40

That's lovely news figgy. I've had horrible day. Mr Mopsy ill. Minimopsy still not herself either. I had splitting headache all day. Minimopsy having many tantrums. I found it really hard to keep my cool. Sad

Figster · 09/11/2014 08:02

Mopsy I had sickness bug two weeks ago was on bed last night 9.30 as felt rotten still do, dh not back from his lads weekend until dinner time it's going to be a long day, lots of boy tv I expect Confused

mopsytop · 09/11/2014 08:50

Figgy, Minimopsy started the day with an hour-long full on meltdown. Not an auspicious start to the day ... happy enough now. Fingers crossed it lasts. I was up half the night feeling uncomfortable and was sick at 3am. Just late pregnancy tho I think, not a bug. Still knackering though! Hope you feel better soon and get through day OK!

Figster · 09/11/2014 13:01

Actually once I got going I was fine took ds swimming with friend and her 4yo wandered round shops until ds did the I'm sitting down on floor routine so ended up carrying him back to the car.

NorthernChinchilla · 09/11/2014 14:49

Had a lovely walk in the park this morning, and I'm now going to do up some batches of soup as I made the stock this morning. Legs still aching from going out with work and dancing loads on Friday night though! We did fireworks in the back garden last night too mainly for pyro DP's benefit which DS enjoyed.

How are you feeling mopsy, any better?

Hope the ADs kick in soon seven. Very sorry to hear about the PND, but thank goodness it's been recognised and you're getting some help. How is baby E doing, still chubbing up nicely?

Anyone else feel like this year has just vanished? Can't believe it's November, and we've been in the new house ten months.

OP posts:
Chipandspuds · 09/11/2014 16:56

Yep, this year has certainly gone past quickly, can't believe our lo's are coming up to their 3rd birthdays!

It's really nice this year DS seems to 'get' the idea of Christmas Smile We have probably bought too much, but I think with December birthdays and Christmas in the same month it's always going to look a bit much all together!

Fireworks sound good Northern! We took DS on Friday night and he was most disappointed when they finished! It was hard to tell if he was enjoying the fireworks at the time but he was just a bit mesmerised I think Grin

DS is being super helpful at the moment as I can't really reach the floor, a mixture of being pregnant and my knee still isn't back to normal. I do feel like I'm just lazing about getting bigger by the day Blush I'm trying to do little and often to keep on top of the housework and tidying. DM seems to be feeling sorry for me and said when she comes stay she will do as much as she can - usually she likes to wind me up about my lack of domestic enthusiasm!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

mopsytop · 10/11/2014 17:19

Feeling tired Northern but headache gone! Still having masses of v v uncomfy contractions though. V annoying. Long busy day at work today. Just left for long commute. But only have to come in again Wed Thurs then I'm finally on mat leave. I cannot WAIT. So tired!

Chipandspuds · 11/11/2014 10:26

Ahh not much longer to go Mopsy!

I've been inspired by one of the mums at toddler group and have been googling all sorts of Christmas arts and crafts! There are so many ideas out there Smile I hope DS is ready to get his hands dirty and make some Christmas cards!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 11/11/2014 10:37

Yeay for mat leave mopsy, you're almost at the finish line.

Hope the knee gets sorted chips, and the magic part of Christmas only last a few years, I don't see the harm in spoiling them a bit.

Glad to hear things are progressing Oi and that you're talking honestly with each other.

All fine here, usual nearly-threenager antics aside. Had a lovely day yesterday, DS and I went for coffee and then did jumpolining, and then had a nap on the sofa. And then we made biscuits. DH came home in a foul mood and over reacted to everything DS did and we descended into them screaming at each other. I intervened and took over at bed time (which DH hates, as he thinks I'm being all white-knighty and back seat parenting) and I totally lost it with him and said I wasn't taking over to feel superior, I was taking over because he was being a crap parent and I wasn't going to sit there listening to him shout at DS for nothing. This is the first time we've ever had a real blow up about parenting, and because we're both crap, we did it in front of DS. Anyway, we all kissed and made up in the end and apologised for arguing and shouting and talked to DS about how we shouldn't have shouted etc. He seemed fine and has been fine since. I'm worried that he's picking up bad habits from us - shouting and then instantly apologising and saying 'I'm sorry!' as soon as he looks to be getting into trouble. Bit of a wake up call really, I'm trying to just relax and not let his less than desirable behaviours bother me so much - just staying calm and not over reacting. I'm sure he picks up on when we're in a bad mood and then it all just spirals. I've also bought a paper copy of toddler calm as I find it so hard flicking through it on my kindle. Urgh, typing all that out makes me feel so shit. Must. Do. Better.

OiMissus · 11/11/2014 11:32

Hmmmm... Must always stay calm. Do not over react, spiralling,... This all seems familiar.
You forgot to mention the WWF antics every night. What, you don't body slam DS down back onto his pillow 20x before bedtime?
Must just be me then.
Must. Stay. Calm.
Must not react.

Aethelfleda · 11/11/2014 13:01

WWF? I prefer the oh-so-gentler Coffee Table Tactic. ie have given up trying to get him into bed. He can't sleep under there forever, when he hits fourteen his legs will stick out

OiMissus · 11/11/2014 13:28

(WWF - once something to do with pandas, now more famously about men in spandex in rings...???)
I like the coffee table plan. Boi tried to climb between the fishtank and his blackboard last night. Maybe I should have just left him there!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 11/11/2014 14:06

oi are you free to get the hellions littles together soon? Not seen you in ages!

mopsytop · 11/11/2014 14:07

Minimopsy also having numerous and lengthy tantrums. Very hard to keep my cool sometimes. Glad we are not alone. It would appear to be a common developmental stage judging by this thread!

Figster · 11/11/2014 17:22

It is mopsy it is........sigh Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 11/11/2014 17:45

Hell yeah! DS has already perfected the 'hellspawn at home, angel elsewhere' routine too, so we get chomped on, ignored and drowned in 'don't want tos' and nursery gets the wee cherub.
Good thing he's cute as we don't have the receipt! Grin

OP posts:
mopsytop · 11/11/2014 19:47

Yep Minimopsy too. Angel at nursery. Saves all the tantrums for us. Another massive meltdown before bed. I stayed really calm! Hard though.

mopsytop · 11/11/2014 19:48

'Don't want to' also the catch phrase here Northern, along with 'I want muummmyyy' and pushing Mr Mopsy away Sad

OiMissus · 12/11/2014 14:59

I don't want to - boi's favourite phrase. I'm sick of hearing it.
Hop- Friday afternoon? My new windows should be all finished then. I can come to you, or vice versa. :)
You'll be able to check out my grotty steri strips if they haven't fallen off by then!

  • I must explain... I'm in Germany. Arrived yesterday evening prior to meetings with suppliers today. I met up with German and Danish colleagues.
The evening started with champagne, and ended at A & E at 3:15am, with my steri-stripped chin. ConfusedConfusedConfused Oh the dignity! I fell off the bar stool, hit my chin on the table on the way to the floor. ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused Apparently there was quite a bit of blood. Grin but that soon stopped, the bar maid brought ice so quickly - or so it seemed! (What do I know!? It was all very hazy at that point!) I think the cut was only about 1 - 2cm, but it was a bit if a gaping hole, so it was decided that a & e deserved a visit. Dusseldorf A&E at 3:00am, no one there, we were in and out within 25mins! Cost me €80. And all my pride! Oh the meetings today were painful!!!! We were all really rough, really tired, but the suppliers were all polite and no one mentioned my taped up chin. Figster · 12/11/2014 15:40

Oi you are just so glamorous

More Wine?

OiMissus · 12/11/2014 15:44

I know!!
And no, thanks, but it won't surprise you to hear that I am never drinking again.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 12/11/2014 15:47

Friday afternoon sounds good, I want to come and ogle your new windows and your chin!

DS grunts at me, in a truly obnoxious way. URGH!
