OiMissus · 20/10/2014 22:08

Ha ha ha! Just read that first para back!!! GrinGrinGrin " Relief!" I dodnt mean that! I mean I felt that he felt relieved that that's what I wanted. BlushSmileGrin

OiMissus · 20/10/2014 22:10

Working boilers also bring a sense if relief (also in a non sexual way.) ShockGrin

fixyourgardengate · 20/10/2014 22:10

We've been waiting for news on my newest great nephew who had heart surgery today at 2 weeks old Sad I only hear the news about fifth hand so still don't really know exactly what is wrong but it sounds as though he has 3 separate and life threatening problems with his heart. Today was his second surgery. So far, so good but he's been left with his chest open so a further procedure can be performed tomorrow. Just doesn't bear thinking about.

In happier news, dh and I have just spent an hour covering yoghurt-pots-stuck-to-cardboard with papier mache so that d's can paint his "rocket controls" tomorrow afternoon when I collect him from the childminders. Grin

Aethelfleda · 22/10/2014 07:46

((((((Hug)))) fixya: hope it all works. A friend's neice had Fallot's tetralogy which is kinda like putting together Ikea furniture with no instructions so a couple of bits are back to front and it puts pressure on the wrong blood vessels... She had timy tot surgery too and is now two and a raring happy toddler. They can do amazing things nowadays.

Ooh oi, good luck my lovely! Slow and steady and see how it goes....

I have a "day off" today. Only about ten days' worth of stuff to try and do in it....

NorthernChinchilla · 22/10/2014 21:38

Blimey fix the poor little thing, and his parents too. Fingers crossed for him.
Just on train home following a meet up with old colleagues/friends from my last job, really lovely to catch up. It's all very exciting in the area I used to work in, lots of political stuff that's in the nationals at the moment, so loads to gossip about Grin !
Had an awful night and morning with DS though, lots of tears and shouting at 4am (bed invader followed by accidental clash of heads and transfers between beds) and a current refusal to get dressed or go to nursery. This too shall pass....

Hope your day today aethel was productive

Oi hope your international swaggering going well

Northern sounds like a nice evening I'm intrigued about your topic of discussion though Grin

We off to Scotland tomorrow lining up to be another busy expensive one lots of meals out etc my mum has a raft of things for ds from Disneyland Florida not sure how they getting in the case Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 23/10/2014 07:44

There's a certain by-election, with a certain defector to a certain purple and yellow party Wink I hasten to add I have nothing to do with that party!

Sounds like you'll have to charter a separate plane figgy, not to mention get an overdraft.

OiMissus · 23/10/2014 08:34

Oh fix, poor little thing. Fingers crossed for fabulous surgeons and healing.
My international swaggerage is coming to a close. We've been holding our meetings in the Blue Planet Aquarium in Copenhagen. Very different but very nice!
The potential investors (private equity) have been impressed, and a bit flummoxed. They openly admit to having spies in the big hotel lobbies to see which other investors would be coming in and out. - not so easy to do at a tourist attraction!
My flight out is at 5:30, I'm escaping this meeting early. Grin

Figster · 23/10/2014 08:38

Oi very cool!!!bet ds would be very jealous!! We members of our local one as he's free until he's 3 but it's not very good so going to make most of it til Xmas then might be the end of it. Watched what to expect when you're expecting at weekend and part of it is at an aquarium in Atlanta Georgia and they have a whale shark which is ds absolute favourite animal might be excessive to fly him to America to see it Grin he will have to settle for octonauts live in cardiff in a couple of weeks time.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 23/10/2014 09:15

Will catch up later but I am fucking raging at life at the minute. Work is driving me up the wall with it's politics of nonsense, every newspaper I read makes me want to punch someone and I just burnt my tongue on my coffee.

Fuck. This. Week.

mopsytop · 23/10/2014 10:00

hoppy have more or less given up on newspapers. Just get so anxious/depressed/angry when I read the news. So I totally hear you! Sad

mopsytop · 23/10/2014 20:14

Cottage pie! Yay. The simple pleasures. That is all!

Aethelfleda · 23/10/2014 21:16

Curry! And a squillion Divali fireworks (we have a very ethnically diverse area. It was great seeing lots of little girls in saris and party tunics today: school said it was mufti for any Hindus!)

NorthernChinchilla · 23/10/2014 22:49

Hope you feel a bit better hop, sorry it's such a shitty week...nearly the weekend at least.

We're doing Nepalese curry tomorrow aethel when our friends arrive, after their months-long trip round Europe in a camper van, plus baby Shock . He's nearly one now, can't wait to see him.

OiMissus · 23/10/2014 23:17

Aw. The Indian MD was at the meeting this week, not only did he miss Diwali - for work, but also had to deal with the fact that his wife became quite ill. At first they thought it was Dhengi fever (?) but then they decided it wasn't, then his daughter caught whatever it was. Thankfully his wife was feeling better today, but his daughter reached the peak of her illness. :( Should prove to be viral, and ok, but poor mr. Indian MD!

Figster · 24/10/2014 08:11

1st night at parents house Worst nights sleep ever ds wouldn't go sleep until 9.30 then the woke at 4 insisted on sleeping with us on already an uncomfy small double bed I've been kicked, slapped and generally bashed until he eventually got up at 7.30 Hmm dh does not cope well with nights like that and here til Monday.

Ds is so much bigger than my bro dd who is 6mo older than him it's quite embarrassing Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 24/10/2014 09:12

Yep figgy, DS generally looks like he has already/is planning to eat the other kids his age! Moving him fully into his age 4-5 stuff now, albeit he's in a fair bit already.

OP posts:
Faffin · 24/10/2014 12:16

We seem to have bred a lot of big/ tall boys between us. I've had people thinking DS will be starting school next sept rather than the one after!

Aethelfleda · 24/10/2014 12:24

I get "aww, he's so sweet. How old is he? Really? Ooh, he's a big boy for not yet three!...." Shrug. Some children are stockier than others. At least they are active chunks rather than blobby michelin kiddies living on mcNuggets and froot shoots cos we never lets them eats them, right? We's 100% organic mummies, right?
Still has his baby curls too. Love baby curls.

TheOnlySeven · 24/10/2014 13:50

He's not the only big one aethel. I weighed DD1 the other day, she's 15.2kg. As in big enough to go in a car seat suitable for a 4yo with just the normal seatbelt, she's still 2 FGS! She's not fat just exceptionally tall, she's the same height as her 4yo cousin.

oi glad you've seen where your relationship can be improved :)

fixyourgardengate · 24/10/2014 15:07

Yeah, ds is apparently v tall. didn't really notice till last weekend when we went to my old flat mates d's birthday party and I realised mine was the tallest but also the youngest. Most 2-3 year jeans are still too big round his little waist though unless he's just eaten a meal

On the other hand I am just sorting out the kids winter clothes and packing away the summer stuff and realised that the adorable outfit I had dd in yesterday is size 3-6 months. She is 14 months old.....I got another bargain bundle of second hand clothes for her but am clearly gong to have to pass on all the trousers. Even the ones with adjustable waists just look ridiculous and far too wide in the leg.

No news on the poorly 2 week old. I'm actually assuming this is a good thing as bad news always travels faster than good.

fixyourgardengate · 24/10/2014 15:11

oi just spotted the pics of you and dh at th3 charity do, a) you look very loved up for a couple who are separated and b) my goodness boi looks like his daddy Grin
