Even though dc3 is end of August, thought I'd start a sept thread :-)

How are you all doing?

dS1 is 9 dats old. Feeding well and surely sleeping well but it's hard to know as I keep falling asleep at night feeding him!

My episiotomy wound is still a bit nippy at 7 weeks.
I had it checked this week and there's a bit that's still raw or not healed apparently stopped wearing big pants too soon so it'll just be a case of waiting for it it heal completely.

holls2000 · 25/10/2014 17:50

Ella, we're having B christened but not till April!

So, last night my little man slept 8-12.30 (and we put him down when he was still awake), 1.30-4 and then 4.30-6 (and woke up with wind I think). He has been asleep MOST OF THE DAY! Only went to sleep at about 4.30pm. He has been so alert and met his uncle and aunt today, we took him out in the pram and that usually sends him to sleep but no, he was really awake! I am hoping that that means he will snooze till next feed, have feed and go back to sleep for a decent period of time. Now. We bathed him this morning - do I bath him again as per routine, or feed him upstairs and put him to bed without bath?

DD is nearly 6 weeks so I thought the pIn would have stopped by now. I had a second degree tear, but it's not where the stitches were that hurts, tmi but it's further forwards. Think I'll go see a GP this week.

We will have DD dedicated as we're non denominational, should think about setting a date really!

I left Jessica for the first time for an hour yesterday while I went to the hairdressers to have my hair put up for the wedding I went to. She was fine and I felt surprisingly ok. But it was only across the road which I think made a difference! Jess was so good during the church ceremony and slept all through it! Smile

Still no luck with the dummies here. She just gags. I've tried loads of different ones. Only the boob will do it seems! I'm not too bothered though as my mum said she had a hard time getting me to give up my dummy as a child lol

TeamEponine · 26/10/2014 21:52

Two big steps towards independence today! DH took the baby out for a short walk, which is the first time she has been away from me, and this evening he gave DD her first bottle of expressed milk. Both went really well, which is fab as hubby is desperate to be able to do more with little one. Grin

holls2000 · 27/10/2014 00:50

I left B with DH and went to do supermarket shop. I have never moved so fast!!!

Question - at night feeds (ff baby) how do I get him to burp if he has fallen asleep?

misog2000 · 27/10/2014 02:24

I just prop Em on my chest and the burps seem to work their way out holls

cookielove · 27/10/2014 03:28

I sit Eli up on my lap and pat/rub him he sits there all zzzzzz or pop him my shoulder

velvetlilithi · 27/10/2014 13:42

Someone wrote here couple of days ago about using comfort milk mixed with first milk. Sorry dont remember who was it. Can I just ask if that was suggested by HV or dr? I'm thinking about the same, as my ds is colicky a lot, waking up with screaming because of wind and has harder poo than before. We're on infacol and Tommee Tippee anticolic bottles, which helped little bit and he burps very quickly, passes wind often, but still seems in pain, especially when doing a poo.

velvetlilithi · 27/10/2014 13:45

holls I just tap him on his back or make circles with my hand on his back with a little pressure. He burps every time, even when sleeping. Also since we started using Tommee Tippee anticolic bottles, he burps within 2 minutes after put on shoulder after feed and its really loud!

Allisgood1 · 27/10/2014 13:50

I find that pitting both your legs up (bent) and laying baby on top brings up wind very quick and effectively. Smile

Hv told me 2 different ways
1sit baby end of knee and move the top part of them round while bottom stays sat down iyswim
2 massage in small circles half way round belly button

Ella is she better by the way?

cookielove · 27/10/2014 18:40

Sorry Ella but that made me giggle!

Honeybear30 · 27/10/2014 23:54

ella that sounds a nightmare! DS poos like that as well, I'm getting quite skilled and predicting it and catching it in a new nappy.

We have been cluster feeding for two hours!!! DS normally has a bath around 9 but dh did it tonight and left it too late so baby got stressed and screamed he whole way through. Normally cluster feed about half 9 to 11 but we are still going now. How is there any space for more milk in his tummy???? I want sleeeeeep!

topmammy · 28/10/2014 03:31

Sitting baby upright and moving them in a figure of 8 has worked well for me before in bringing up Jessica's wind.

Her nappies have a strange fish and chips smell about them recently. It's strange! I'll never be able to eat fish and chips again lol

Nazly · 28/10/2014 04:52

Ds has started feeding a lot less than normal which makes me worried - he is 11 weeks and should at least have 900 ml??? No Way he is getting that much from me right now...
plus I am worried about my supply going right down if he wants to feed as normal in a while ...

Not sure what to do - will weight him tomorrow

KatharineClover · 28/10/2014 07:02

Nazly he might not need that much ... As long as he has plenty of wet nappies and is gaining weight all is ok x
"The research tells us that exclusively breastfed babies take in an average of 25 oz (750 mL) per day between the ages of 1 month and 6 months. Different babies take in different amounts of milk; a typical range of milk intakes is 19-30 oz per day (570-900 mL per day)." - from the kellymom website

Honeybear30 · 28/10/2014 08:08

nazly I would go by the nappies like Katherine said. And if he needs to get your supply back up he'll soon start suckling away at you!

mammy my DS has the same smell to his nappies! But only in the last week. I googled 'sour' and 'vinegar' nappy and apparently its an indication of intolerance to something. Odd though because DS is breastfed and it happened very suddenly, I can't think what I've changed in my diet. Except maybe I switched from a cup of tea to a cup of coffee in the mornings. But other than an odd smell DS is fine. He's no more windy than normal and is providing me with plenty of wet and dirty nappies so I'm not overly concerned. I was going to mention it to the HV next time I see her and prob at his 8 week GP check which is later next week. Anyone else heard of this before?

holls2000 · 28/10/2014 08:56

Oh my lord. Barney has spent the last 3 nights wakibg up at 3am to not eat much to go back down, to wake up ay 4 with wind and not to go back down. Anyone know how I can change this? !??!?!?!

cookielove · 28/10/2014 09:34

Oh ds missed his 8 week check as I didn't realise he needed one when he was closer to 9. He will be 11 weeks tomorrow! Hmm do you think I should book a check in?

Honeybear30 · 28/10/2014 09:47

Yes I would cookie. We haven't had ours yet but I believe it's quite a thorough health check, not just a chat or anything like that. I'm sure a delay of a couple of weeks won't make much difference.

When I registered DS at the surgery they told me I would be contacted for all of his checks/vaccinations etc so I didn't have to remember to make the appointments. Luckily!

SeptemberBabies · 28/10/2014 11:32

Hi all

Felicity has been pooing a very lot and has a really sore bum, I feel so sorry for her.

I've had two weeks of antibiotics, followed by a week off them, now finishing another week back on antibiotics. The doctor assures me that they are fine when breastfeeding but I definitely noticed a difference (for the better) in DD for the week I wasn't on antibiotics.

The antibiotics have given me the runs (sorry TMI) so I do wonder if it is them that is also causing Felicity to be off colour. Her bum looks really raw this morning Sad
