Even though dc3 is end of August, thought I'd start a sept thread :-)

How are you all doing?

dS1 is 9 dats old. Feeding well and surely sleeping well but it's hard to know as I keep falling asleep at night feeding him!

Cool hope you manage to get some rest

SeptemberBabies · 23/10/2014 14:58

Yes lilone, I think Medised was ultimately removed from sale because people were effectively doping their children on it. Sad, but true. It was a great medicine used in moderation, shame it's no longer available.

Molly is a lovely name btw, was on my shortlist Smile

I've had a nightmare post C-section with two infections so far, one had me readmitted to hospital for IV antibiotics. I've also had to have the wound re-opened and packed daily so that the infection can drain away.

DD is 4 weeks old but no chance of DTD anytime soon - since I have a massive open hole in my abdomen! Confused

SeptemberBabies · 23/10/2014 15:06

Cookie, Is Eli better after his jabs now?

Cool. Sounds like a horrendous night. Hope you get some sleep during the day today and that tonight is better.

All night through to 6am is a mammoth amount of time to be awake for. Is your LO often awake for long stretches like that?

CoolCat2014 · 23/10/2014 15:21

September - she is often very awake and then unsettled from 8pm to midnight. She did have several patches of sleep last night, but we could only get her to settle whilst walking/jigging/dancing/rocking/cwtched right in skin to skin, so sleep was impossible for me. DH took a turn several times, but she was screaming so much I couldn't sleep then either.

I'm sure it must have been the curry I had last night (it was a super mild Korma though), as I gave her a bottle of expressed milk at 6am and she settle straight away. She looked so confused by the bottle, bless her!

She's been almost solidly asleep all day now, just woken 3 times for quick feeds. I'm a bit worried as it's a lot less than she'd usually feed, waiting for HV to call me back now. Feel so rough with buggy sore throat :(

Hope everyone else is having a better day.

Allisgood1 · 23/10/2014 16:17

Cool, how old is she? Sound v much like growth spurt behaviour.

CoolCat2014 · 23/10/2014 17:02

5 weeks, when do the growth spurts happen? Is it just anytime? I know the MW mentioned some ages, but I can't remember!

cookielove · 23/10/2014 17:31

September ds had a better night last night, which was nice but he has spent a lot of today awake and is now shattered Confused hopefully he will have another good night!

Acorncat · 23/10/2014 18:46

I went to gp for my 6 week check to be told that they don't routinely do them anymore Hmm you'd have think they'd have mentioned that when I booked it!

DS has gone from a dirty nappy every few hours to 3 days without followed by really wet and stringy ones about every 12 hours Confused. He seems fine, though I've got a cold so hoping it's just due to that. Always something to worry about!

Honeybear30 · 23/10/2014 18:49

That's odd acorn. I had mine yesterday and it all seemed very routine.

lilone1234 · 23/10/2014 19:18

Wow September that is a nightmare c section! I hope it gets better soon!

SeptemberBabies · 23/10/2014 20:17

CoolCat - that sounds like a proper horrendous night Sad I hope tonight is better.

Re contraception - I was planning on either marina or copper coil. I'm a bit scared now with talk of it hurting being inserted. I've always found smears and virginal examinations in labour to be painful. Thinking I should ask for pain relief when it is inserted.

holls2000 · 23/10/2014 20:39

Good news here. B had a poo so settled tonight. He had 80ml (smalled feed than usual) at 5.30 so was sure he would wake up for a feed 8-8.30ish but no still asleep. Now do I go to bed now or wait for him to wake up and thrn feed and go to bed? Questions questions. Have to say white noise apps are my saviour.

We have 6 week check next week - HV in morniny, doc in pm.

B is a bit refluxy at times. Today he refluxed 3 hours after he fed. Weird.

bananapickle84 · 23/10/2014 21:23

ilove bizarrely the doctor said that she wasn't too happy me giving him cool boiled water at such a young age. Seemed weird that they were happier with meds than water but hey ho!
He hasn't pooed today either so not really sure the lactulose is doing its job.
coolcat I think the growth spurt is supposed to be at about 6 weeks but my DS is definitely having one this week at 5 weeks so it's possible that's what's happening with your little one.
Right need to get some sleep as DH is doing the dream feed so hopefully I can get 6 hours in before DS wakes.
Hope better nights are had by all.

topmammy · 23/10/2014 21:29

Sorry I've not been on in a few days! Cool - poor you like, I hope you catch up your sleep soon. September, my goodness I hope your wound heals soon!

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday. Quite nervous about handling Jessica if she cries and people stare! She's been very unsettled this evening and screamed louder and harder than ever before. It made me want to cry Sad Not even the boob helped. Then all of a sudden she stopped and fell asleep. Cant put her down at all though as she cries again. I think it could be over tiredness? But she has napped today. Babies are anything but straight forward lol.

topmammy · 23/10/2014 21:53

Didn't mean to put the 'like'"in that sentence - my phone randomly adds the word in and makes me sound like a geordie lol Grin

Allisgood1 · 23/10/2014 22:05

Coolcat, 6 weeks is a bug one but you may be having it early. They can last up to a week with either more or less sleep than usual, fussy, and feeding loads.

OP posts:
CoolCat2014 · 23/10/2014 22:38

May well be a growth spurt, she is suddenly looking almost too long for a new pack of babygros I only opened this week. Hate how fast we are getting through clothes! Going to get her weighed tomorrow so we'll see where she is then!

Acorn - at the breastfeeding group I went to this week the HV said that DD might start going several days between poos now, even up to a week. Think the most important thing (by what I've been asked) is that you're getting plenty of wet nappies, but obviously best to ask a HV if you're concerned.

KitKat1985 · 23/10/2014 23:51

Hey all. HV came today for 6 week check and Jessica is now 9'12, so growing up fast (she was 6'9 when born). I definately think she's having a growth spurt too. She keeps having phases of being really grumpy and just wanting to eat and eat and eat. A good thing I guess but also quite knackering. I keep being tempted to give her a bottle of formula at night just to satisfy her appetite and get her to sleep for a bit longer, but trying to hold out as HV said hopefully the cluster feeding should start to ease off soon. Hope everyone is doing okay. xxx

cookielove · 24/10/2014 04:16

Did a fb page ever get started?

holls2000 · 24/10/2014 08:01

Help please!! B has gone 5/4/4.5 hours between feeds which is brill. However he fed at 2am, wouldn't go down until 4am when he took 10ml and went to sleep. would you try a dummy after feeding? X

CumbrianExile · 24/10/2014 08:35

Holls, I use a dummy sometimes after feeding. Sometimes A messes with the last little bit of the bottle and I think he is after the soothing effect of the sucking, as it sends him to sleep quite well usually. Its worth a try.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 24/10/2014 09:41

I've not seen a fb page on the thread cookie. How do we start one?

ilovemonstersinc · 24/10/2014 10:53

We didny start a fb page as most preferredthe anonymity of mn and the thread would just die out like the aug thread.

Holls I use a dummy. They are brilliant Grin

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 24/10/2014 11:01

Oh right.

Acorncat · 24/10/2014 12:28

I wish mine would use a dummy, he's desperately trying to coordinate sucking his hands but can't yet. He just spits the dummy out constantly.
