Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Naturegirl82 · 15/09/2014 16:42

Just been told we are waiting for a train to come and tow us back to the last station. So annoyed Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Naturegirl82 · 15/09/2014 16:45

I could actually cry right now. I only agreed to travel for this meeting today on condition I would be home at a reasonable time. I know it's no-ones fault, but it's so frustrating. Sad Probably not going to get home until after 8 now after an early start on a bad nights sleep when I should have been home just after 6 Sad

Naturegirl82 · 15/09/2014 17:15

Still sat here so just had to go and do a quick express to relieve some pressure. Really not happy at the moment. Sorry for all the moaning. Sad

TobyLerone · 15/09/2014 18:34

Oh, nature, that's awful. I'd be moaning too Flowers

Naturegirl82 · 15/09/2014 18:42

Thanks toby. I missed the next connection by 30 seconds bastards could have held it so now on the slow train which means I'll get in 2 hours late instead of 1 hour. Dh has got his dad to come pick me up which helps but I'm starting to feel quite sick and shaky (a combination of not eating since lunch, stress, running for the train, engorged boobs and lack of sleep I think). I definitely won't be travelling for work again in a hurry. Sad

FelixFelix · 15/09/2014 19:51

Nature how annoying!! I'd be pissed off too! Hope the rest of your journey isn't too stressful.

MrsGSR · 15/09/2014 20:55

Sad nature I hope the rest of the journey goes really fast.

Been trying pu/pd. Found I already had the baby whisper's book on my kindle app so had a quick read. It seems the general idea is they don't get as worked up as you keep interrupting them by picking them up, except L seems to pick up where she left off. She would screaming a horrible throaty scream as soon as we began lowering her into her cot, arching her back and pulling her hair. Me and DH attempted it for over an hour hoping it would get better but she just got more and more angry. I've had to feed her to calm her down. She's asleep on me now but if I move she'll wake up Sad I just don't know what to do (other than sit here and cry which is my plan for the next hour or so!)

Naturegirl82 · 15/09/2014 21:27

Oh mrsg sorry she got so worked up. O was pretty bad the first few nights and wouldn't be calmed when picking up but she did eventually go to sleep. It sounds really harsh and I had to remind myself it was short term pain for long term gain. Every baby is different though so maybe that technique isn't for you and something else may work better.

getting hope h was ok for his first full day at nursery. Was it your first day back at work? Hope it went well.

Well I finally made it home and expressed 11 oz!! Feel much better now, just hoping it doesn't cause any issues. Dinner and bed for me.

TarkaTheOtter · 15/09/2014 21:39

mrsgsr I found that pupd drove dd crazy. It was way to much stimulation for her. In the end we did cc and it actually involved less crying than pupd. Worked very quickly but wasn't permanent though and we also tried gradual retreat once she was a bit older. This felt much more natural to me and I would recommend it. Think there is a thread on here called "what worked for us" or something similar - I'll have a look.

A is now crawling! And slept through last night! He is a menace though now and desperate to eat all of dd's playmobil.

TarkaTheOtter · 15/09/2014 21:41

Here is the gradual retreat thread.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/09/2014 21:46

Oh nature that's crappy! you poor thing.

MrsG don't cry! You'll get there. Thanks

FizzypopFireball · 15/09/2014 21:55

Hugs nature, and some Cake for the shakes.

Mrsg, my NCT friends have sworn by the gradual retreat method. You can Google Sleep Lady Shuffle too for more info. I bought her book, but have yet to open it!!!! I think you just have to try a method that you are most comfortable with. In my case it's still shoving a boob in his gob. Hugs to you too.

Thank you for the kind words earlier. Felix do you take/use anything to help your skin? The only thing that seems to help with me is being on the pill or being pregnant, neither of which are really ideal at the moment!

I'm having to take a break from Facebook just now. There is so much nonsense being posted about the Referendum, and my friends seem to have taken it upon themselves to try and change everyone's mind to their way of thinking. It's horrible. I keep finding myself posting mischievous comments when I should just keep clear! I will be so glad when Thursday is over.

FelixFelix · 16/09/2014 08:33

Fizzy mine cleared up well when pregnant too! I have been prescribed doxycycline and a cream called Epiduo which has benzoyl peroxide in it (best stuff ever to get rid of acne). Hopefully your GP will prescribe something similar. It's working but very slowly.

Had a slightly better night last night. Up at 1.30, 2.30 & 3.30 but she then slept until 7. Looks rubbish written down but it's better than every hour the night before. Still soaking through her nappy every morning and waking up very wet. I've tried offering water through the night but she won't take it. I'm sick of changing sheets every day!

FelixFelix · 16/09/2014 08:34

She's also started crawling!!!

FizzypopFireball · 16/09/2014 09:07

Hooray, Felix! Go Sylvie!

Not sure I'll get doxy-whatsit as I'm still breastfeeding, but the cream sounds like it might be a good thing. Thanks!

alteredimages · 16/09/2014 09:37

Yay sylvie!

Anyone else using mobile site finding the post preview isn't working anymore?

The bus is between an hour and an hour and a half each way. Blush It is also horrendously expensive and there might not be any space left but right now my daily routine is getting up at 5.30am and feeding N, waking DD and getting everyone ready and leaving the house around 7. The journey to school takes 45 minutes. I drop off DD then we go to PILs and DH and I have breakfast and he goes to work around 10am. I then have two hours to do everything I need to do before picking up DD at 12.45 and we sit around driving PILs up the wall until DH comes home around 5 or 6. He then eats and we either go home and get there around 8pm or if he goes to the gym we arrive closer to 10 or 11pm. I am exhausted, have no clean clothes, the house is barely habitable and I have no time to cook so we are eating crap. If the bus was a 6 hour round trip I would still want to sign up! DH is not comfortable with the bus idea though so we are in a pickle. Doesn't want to hire a driver either because it is "impractical" not because he is embarrassed about our ancient car.

alteredimages · 16/09/2014 09:40

nature sorry about your nightmare day yesterday, hope you have recovered somewhat. That sounded really hard.

I used to get dizzy and shivery when I went too long without feeding DD. It feels horrible. Sad¡

alteredimages · 16/09/2014 09:41

fizzy have they said when the results will be announced? I can't vote Angry but feel sad about how nasty things seem to be getting.

TobyLerone · 16/09/2014 09:50

Do you not drive, altered? Or do you just not want to drive in Egypt? I wouldn't blame you!
Sorry if you've answered that already and I missed it.

Got to take M to the Dr soon. Yesterday morning she was sick in the car, quite violently. She was fine for the rest of the day, although she didn't eat any actual food. This morning at 5.30am she woke herself up being sick again. She's fine and happy the rest of the time, no temp or anything, but I want her checked out.

MrsGSR · 16/09/2014 10:05

I've had a look at the gradual retreat, I think we'll try it tonight. Thank you :)

I would be happy to keep feeding to sleep if I could put her back down after! I'm a little torn, I don't know if it's just because she's teething so sleeping more lightly? But she's been like it for a while so it is probably time to try something. Going to fill her cot with toys and try and get her to play in it whilst I sort out her wardrobe today, I thought it might make her think her cot was for playing and not sleeping, but it suggests it in the pu/pd and the no cry sleep solution books so I'll give it a go!

alteredimages · 16/09/2014 10:05

Both toby. I don't drive though I will be learning soon. Even if I did though I don't have my own car and DH needs his for work. If we got a driver he would have to do a lot of toing and froing!

alteredimages · 16/09/2014 10:07

That sounds very strange toby, I hope the doctor reassures you. N had a thing a bit like that earlier this summer. He was sick twice and had diarrhoea but happy and sleeping well. It cleared up and he was fine.

Gettingthroughthis · 16/09/2014 10:11

toby hope she's ok. Could it be from flem going into her stomach when she's led flat in bed?

altered that sounds like such a tough day, even just for a one off I wouldn't be too happy with that!

nature sorry yesterday was so crap. That's what I'm dreading about going back to work. Trains are always delayed here and don't have anyone else to pick h up from nursery if I'm late

Interview tomorrow then back to work Thursday. If I get the new job id mostly work from home which would make such a change :) just need to crack on doing presentation and prep today

Henry's first day at nursery went well, no tears at all, he ate all his breakfast, all his dinner and some of the lunch, had a morning nap then 1.5 hours at lunch, learnt to clap and painted me a lovely poo coloured picture

MrsGSR · 16/09/2014 10:14

altered that sounds really tough! I hope you can work something out

Toby it's always worth getting them checked out, I've been to the walk in centre so many times! Hope she's ok and is nothing serious

A good friend of mine is at Edinburgh Uni, her dad is Scottish but she's lived in England all her life and sounds very English, I do worry about her if things get bad after Thursday. Her dad's family are close by though, and mostly voting no, so I'm sure she'll be fine.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/09/2014 11:21

altered I don't blame you! I wouldn't drive in Cairo for any money - but I am a newish driver. My dad, who's been driving 40 years, and was a rally driver, now races (amateur) as a hobby, also wouldn't drive there! It is Cairo, isn't it?

toby def get checked. I have been to the docs so often I swear they have HYPOCHONDRIAC on my file/Alex's, but I don't care!

Was v brave and went to dentist this morning. One big filling down, and one small one to go. She also sealed two teeth and made an impression for a night guard, as I grind my teeth, apparently! I hate the dentists (not the procedures, the fear they will find they are all rotten/break a tooth while working!) but it's easier when it's free...

nature how are you today? Hope you feel better after the shit journey.
