Chest infections too? Ugh. You poor things :(

Things aren't looking good for tonight. M went down at 7.30 and has been up twice already. Last night and the night before were awful. Up every hour and at one point each night she was awake for 1.5 hours at one of the wakings. She just seems to sleep so lightly. She never seems to get into that proper deep sleep. And every time she wakes she needs feeding to settle, so my boobs are in shreds.

That sounds really hard toby. I sympathise about the shredded nipples, N is enjoying his new teeth a bit too much here too.

Hope you get some better sleep tonight.

My step mum told DD about the nine o'clock horses when we were staying with them last year, and DD has suddenly decided that they are close by and doesn't want to take the risk that they have learned to climb stairs. I have never seen her get into bed so quick!

She's just gone back in the cot for the 3rd time. Hopefully I'll get an hour's sleep before next time!

What are the nine o'clock horses? Sounds like something I should tell M about, given your dd's reaction, altered!

I think the nine o'clock horses might be a Leicester thing, cos I had never heard of them before either. The adults in DSM's family had her and her siblings convinced that if there were any kids not in bed at nine o'clock the nine o'clock horses would come. It was never explained what the horses actually do, it was always left to the child's imagination. The first time DD was so scared DF had to tell her that they couldn't climb stairs to her bedroom. Now she brings them up herself and is concerned enough to take herself off to bed but not terrified.

I suppose it's a bit like wee willie winkie.

I used to live in Leicester and I've still never heard of them! Every day's a school day :)

So we had a weird night. She woke up 6 times in the 5 hours between bed and 12.30am, then slept til 2.15am and then til 5.30am. So the second half wasn't too bad (for her!). Although she was basically awake for the day at 5.30

That IS a weird night Toby! Babies are odd aren't they.

Well thankfully we had a much better night last night, exactly when I needed sleep. Poor S was ferried about between houses all weekend and was so over tired she wouldn't sleep in the van last night on the last trip to the new house and was just staring in to space (scarred for life? ) but finally fell asleep on the way back at 10pm. She went straight in her cot and only woke up at 3 and 6 then slept until 8ish. I feel like a new woman.

O's sleep seems to have gone to pot again. Apparently there is a 9 month growth spurt which I think explains the amount O wants to feed over night. Dh is away for two nights now and I'm all ready shattered so not looking forward to this.

I know I've left it really late (as his birthday is today!) but does anyone have any ideas what I can get Dh from O for his birthday?? Really struggling for ideas

Nature does he have any hobbies? I always go for aftershave if I've left it late and can't think of anything. Does he like a particular drink or in to coffee or anything? Another thing I always buy is whisky or something coffee related

Whew, mumsnet is back. I was in real danger of having to have a conversation with in laws there. I could only see the first post on each page. The floaty advert is back though, and exclusively advertises takeaway after my laziness the past two weeks. For the first couple of months in Egypt it was always an ad telling me that proper gin is now available here. How do they target so well? It is freaky.

Trying and failing to convince DD that DH's cufflinks aren't earrings. She is determined to put them in her ears and now wants to try them on N.

altered what is it you do in Egypt? My dmum was born in Alexandria (army brat)but I have never been. Can we have a teeth-off? L has four. Also starting to think 'ringworm' might just be excema...the rings have gone and now is just a red shiny patch coincidentally exactly where her dribble falls.

Felix I've bought a photo frame and I'll take some pics tomorrow of O holding up happy birthday daddy signs. Should have it ready for when he gets back on Wednesday.

DH did most of last night. She slept from 7-6.30 with only one wake up for a feed at 3.45 She's so much happier today, poor thing must be have been as tired as me! Shame I'll be buggering it all up by trying to settle her for the first time this weekend...

We had a terrible night last night - no idea what's going on but hoping it was her teeth or perhaps because she went to bed so early last night (6.45pm) that by 5.45 am she just needed to be up for the day. Yuk. Never again.

M only has one tooth :o

I swear I must be feeding O growth hormones or something! I would have preferred her not to get teeth yet but never mind. I'm sure there is another baby with 8 teeth?? Or have I created a monster?

I swear people think she is much older than she is because of all the teeth and the walking! She does look like a proper toddler just a really tiny one!

I have an 8 toothed monster (and trying to check for the pesky ninth tooth could involve losing a finger) though just a fast crawler rather than a walker. Today's fun was unpacking the pasta/rice cupboard. i think its all cleared up now
Toby how was the extended BF group? I worry these things would all be full of 5 year olds feeding but then as I'll be feeding little puggle to sleep at uni maybe I should take an interest...

We have 8 teeth here as well! No walking yet, though, just lots of crawling and cruising.

We're at the tail-end of chest infections. Trying to get antibiotics into H was a nightmare. I ended up smuggling it in whilst shoveling in yoghurt!

I'm getting a little concerned as H will only ever settle for me. Full on rage and screaming results if DH tries to get him to sleep. I'd like to stop bfing when he's one (he's had teeth since he was 4 months - I'm SO over breastfeeding), but really can't see a way to stop if he's going to only want me to get him to sleep. Puggle, think I'll be with you on the uni feeding! All the sleep forums say 'Get your partner to put baby to bed when sleep training', but I can't see this ever working for us. Anyone else in the same boat?

Me too! Little puggle screams if I even pop to the loo and he's being held by DH at night. No sign of him settling for DH when I've had a long day. I'm on call again next week and dreading what'll happen if I have to go in overnight. Naps fine in the pram during the day.
Shall we try and arrange for them to share a flat at uni so we can share some wine at feeding to sleep time Fizzy?
