Anyone else awake? The electricity situation here in Egypt has become ridiculous now. For the past two years there have been power cuts, mostly in the summer, but now they are between five and six a day, each one lasting an hour. This week they have started happening in the middle of thw night too and without air conditioning I am just a hot sticky mess and can't sleep. It has been announced now that we will have two hours with power then one without and this will repeat all day.

At my flat the water is cut off for six hours every evening too, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. It is beginning to wind me up though. Sad

TobyLerone · 18/08/2014 03:37

Ugh, altered, that sounds crap :(
Hope you've managed a little bit of sleep.

alteredimages · 18/08/2014 05:50

Thanks toby. Electricity came back and no more cuts so far, but the tiny bastard picked up the slack and woke every hour and a half demanding to ve fed. Grin I wish I knew why he has stopped sleeping through.

Gettingthroughthis · 18/08/2014 07:11

altered that sounds crap :(

Had a much better night last night :) feed at 2 and 5 then asleep until 7. Much better than the at least hourly we've had recently. But it unfortunately proved that the amount of food he has in the day has no impact as he hardly ate anything yesterday as we were out then had people over. Now I need to work out why it was. I put him in a growbag last night as he was a bit chilly the night before. Never considered it was because he was cold before. But then he also only napped for about 1.5 hours yesterday where he usually has about 3 ( hoping it's not this one as I enjoy a bit of quiet me time!). He also went to bed about 7.45 rather than 6 as he napped 5.15-6. Also hoping it's not this as he's usually a nightmare by 6. And most of all I'm hoping it just wasn't one of those things!

Gettingthroughthis · 18/08/2014 07:18

Oh he also didn't leak through his nappy for the first time in ages. If it's this one it'll mean night time changes which defeats the point of him sleeping through. Who knew this would be so tricky!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 18/08/2014 07:25

Well done O! I saw the video, it freaked dh out thinking Henry could be doing that soon.

Henry isn't interested in sippy cups or the doidy cup. He chews on them. Ds1 wasn't fussed and stopped having a bottle by 18 months, so that's what we're aiming for with Henry. Although, ds1 did have the occasional bottle when Henry was born.

Today I'm taking the boys to soft play with a group of friends. Which should be fun!

I didn't get child benefit today though, which I was expecting. Anyone else had that?

Naturegirl82 · 18/08/2014 07:50

million I had child benefit paid on the 11th. I've no idea if everyone gets it on the same day though.

getting glad you had a better night. Hopefully you can work out why.

I've actually no idea how many times O fed last night. It felt like only twice but it's all a blur! I definitely feel better this morning so I must have had more sleep than normal!

altered that's rubbish about the power cuts. I hadn't realised it was that bad over there. Unfortunately it seems most babies that were sleeping through now aren't. Not much consolation I realise. How are your hands, are they healing ok?

angel how much formula does F have during the day. I'm hoping to stick to expressed breast milk but no idea how much she will take during the day. I've got about a 10 litre stash in the freezer, so this along with expressing mornings and evenings I'm hoping will keep her going for a while.

toby have you solved the overnight nappy problem?

alteredimages · 18/08/2014 08:28

Yeah I'm surprised about N stopping sleeping through because he has been doing it so long, since 4 weeks, so I kind of assumed it would be permanent! So far just the one power cut this morning but another probably due in 15 minutes.

My hands are much better, thanks. Only a couple of cracks left but I don't want to use any more steroid cream because the skin is visibly thinner. I changed N's nappy for the first time in a week this morning which made me feel Grin.

TobyLerone · 18/08/2014 08:39

The first night in disposables I changed her twice just to see how they were holding up. Last night I changed her at 4am because she was screeching and I couldn't think of another reason (she'd already been fed 5 times since 10pm by then!)
No leaks so far, so I'm happy with that. But oh god, the smell!

beccajoh · 18/08/2014 13:02

My child benefit goes in on 28th of the month.

Gettingthroughthis · 18/08/2014 15:21

Just checked and mine went in on 4th. Strange how it varies so much!

Swannykazoo · 18/08/2014 15:39

Hey all -what a pack of tiny rascals! We have a sofa surfer here -its exceptionally cute but DH has been sent on a mission for cupboard locks before badness happens.
Work and BF has been ok. I seem to spend all day patting my boobs (bit paranoid about getting mastitis) but am managing a consistent 150mls expressing and racing home to little puggle for teatime. I'm home early today so milk is back on the snack menu - I think he manages with a fair bit less when I'm not around though its not full reverse cycling yet

My CB went in today. Last one was 21st July.

We have had a couple of slightly better nights too. A few wake ups before we go to bed at 11pm, but night before last she only woke up at 3.15 then 5,6,7 (DP got up with her apart from 3.15) then last night 1.30, 4 & 6. It's an improvement! The night she woke up at 3.15 she managed to sleep from 11pm so did 4hrs asleep!!! She's not slept that long for a very long time.

alteredimages · 18/08/2014 16:27

Yeah, the smell is something else. I never noticed it before but it really surprised me changing back from reusables.

TobyLerone · 18/08/2014 16:59

I don't get CB, so can't help with that. But my sister says hers went in on the 8th this month.

Naturegirl82 · 18/08/2014 19:03

Um..... I think O just took her first steps!! She was standing in front of me and took about three steps before falling over. Shock

FelixFelix · 18/08/2014 19:09

Nature you have a genius on your hands! Amazing Smile

AnotherStitchInTime · 18/08/2014 19:13

Wow nature that is amazing.

BookTart · 18/08/2014 20:47

Blimey nature, that's amazing! I hope you've got all the stair gates and stuff in!

I've just emailed my resignation to work :o

Swannykazoo · 18/08/2014 20:55

Wow book tell us more!

Nothing exciting puggle, I'm just going to stay at home for a few years, probably until P goes to school. Goodbye career!

beccajoh · 18/08/2014 22:03

I ditched my career too Book, mainly because outgoings on nursery and trains would more or less equal my salary. Wasn't worth the stress and I wasn't especially attached to my job anyway. Mostly I love being at home! I do get moments where I want to have a wee without some small person hammering on the door shouting "WEE WEE MUMMY! PLEASE MUMMY OPEN DOOR!"

Naturegirl82 · 18/08/2014 22:18

Wow book big changes! My dsis did the same and loved being at home with kids so much retrained as a childminder!!

I can't quite believe I go back to work in less than two weeks Sad

TobyLerone · 18/08/2014 22:29

Bloody hell, nature! I don't envy you.

Yay, book! We can be full-time ladies wot lunch.

Nothing much to report here. Dead boring day. M was super tired after being up every hour between 11pm and 4am, then awake from 4am til 6am. I was also super tired, unsurprisingly! So I made DH take us to Wagamama's for dinner :o
The teenagers are in Brighton til tomorrow so I cba to cook.
