Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

toby I emailed pampers about this yes I'm a knob (but I did get a £10 voucher even though I wasn't complaining!) h leaks through every night and apparently the + ie 3+ In the sizes means size 3 with extra absorbency. So we now use pampers baby dry 3+ although they still leak so I've bought some 4+ but have a mountain to use first

TarkaTheOtter · 16/08/2014 21:57

We use whatever brand are on offer. Usually aldi/lidl but sometimes pampers work out cheaper on offer at tescos in the giant boxes. I just move up a size when they start not lasting the night. Alex is currently wearing 5s as is my 2.5yr old because we are on holiday and I don't want to have to carry two sizes around.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 16/08/2014 22:02

My parents have just moved from Saudi. They have a lot of formula, all American brands. When I went with ds1 he went off the formula and we tried seven different brands but he didn't go for it. Nappies were pretty pricy in Saudi from what I remember.

I'm, stupidly, reluctant to buy them as well because we have 300 (not a lie, actually true) size 3 active fit because Amazon cocked up and sent us duplicate and told us to keep them.

My mom has said they have Aptimal in Oman so we'll use that I think.

beccajoh · 16/08/2014 22:14

We're going to need a new thread soon ladies! Witty title needed - I'm hopeless at such things.

TobyLerone · 16/08/2014 22:51

I saw that in Sainsbury's today, getting. It days 'extra absorbent' on the + packs. But they only had 3, 4 & 4+. So I had to get 3. She's only about 16lbs so the others would have been far too big :(

TobyLerone · 16/08/2014 22:51

*says

FelixFelix · 16/08/2014 23:06

S is in size 4 Pampers. Either baby dry or active fit depending on which one I pick up at the time. She's usually fine overnight but occasionally leaks if she does a huge shit. I get confused with the size 4 and 4+ because the weight guides overlap (eg. 15-30lb, then the other is 20-40lb. Just an example, I don't know what the actual weights are). I never know if I should put her in 4+ or not?

The past couple of days she's hardly had any milk and I'm a bit worried. She's been eating breakfast dinner and tea but yesterday only drank around 5oz of milk through the day, and today she's only had around 10oz. Could it be down to teething?

FelixFelix · 16/08/2014 23:07

Oh so the + means extra absorbency?! Well I never knew that Shock

alteredimages · 16/08/2014 23:11

What a pain toby. I was just reading another thread and came across your "who's pissed on your chips?" comment and it made me laugh. Smile

Please can we turn back time? N is crawling, pulling himself up on furniture and obsessed with shoes, which he wants to chew. He is teething and doesn't want to eat, just chew on my nipples. He now shouts if you don't do what he wants. He has given up sleep entirely and today has developed an attention seeking clapping along to music thing so everyone is too busy thinking how cute he is to notice that he should be asleep and he knows it.

Life was so much easier a month or two ago. I had convinced myself he was calm and easy going. What a twit.

FelixFelix · 16/08/2014 23:19

Altered Grin Sylvie also loves shoes and especially feet. It's gross. I'm glad she's not crawling yet but even with her shuffling and rolling she's so fast and is constantly grabbing at something she's not meant to.

We have a new attention seeking thing too. A weird facial expression where she screws her face up whilst smiling and it makes everyone laugh so we can never ever be mad at her.

TobyLerone · 16/08/2014 23:43

M tries to bite/lick peoples' feet while she's crawling around, too! Weirdos.

Naturegirl82 · 17/08/2014 06:11

O does both the feet licking and the shoe chewing. She is also partial to a chew on a dog toy whilst the dog chews on her toys Yuk.

Having a massive wobble about breastfeeding. Really wasn't well last night with a high temp and generally feeling rubbish and still I had to get up with O. Dh tried once to settle her but she just wanted a boob. Sad I'm meant to be going away for two nights in September and just don't know if it's feasible. I'm also so tired I don't know how I'm going to cope back at work Sad Anyone been able to go away whilst bfing?

puggle how are you finding bf and working?

We have managed to teach her to sleep at the start of the night without boob but it doesn't seem to work during the night even if she just wants comfort and not feeding.

alteredimages · 17/08/2014 09:56

I'd forgotten the feet licking thing. Eurghh! N does it too. Babies are gross.

No advice about going away nature but don't worry too much aboit going back to work. Dd was a pain and used to sleep all day at nursery so she could feed all night. I would often go in on one or two hours' sleep. When I was there I was fine, but the minute I got back home I would feel the exhaustion and often fell asleep at the table. I think the big thing is being able to do the bare minimum at home. Can your DH step uo and take care of things if you are going to be up feeding at night?

AnotherStitchInTime · 17/08/2014 10:05

Speaking of feet. M is currently trying to lick mine and would get to shoes if they were accessible to him.

nature the work thing will be fine. My dd1 reverse cycled like altered's when I went back to work.

Never been brave enough to do the night away thing myself. Dd1's first night away from me was age 2. Dd2's was 19 months when I went into hospital for my long stay when pregnant with ds. Haven't been away from ds yet. Sure someone else will have some tips on that one.

Angelesque · 17/08/2014 14:40

nature I'm still BFing F despite being back at work two days a week (four from Sep). He has two BFs in the morning, 2/3 bottles of formula at nursery, then 2/3 BFs in the evening. It's been fine so far - had to do a bit of hand expressing in the loos in the afternoon, but otherwise okay.

Naturegirl82 · 17/08/2014 17:26

I think my worry about going back to work is that O isn't really drinking much milk out of a cup at the moment. I guess if she is hungry enough she will.

toby how did your dd's appointment go at the fracture clinic? Does she need an op?

Dh has been great today, we were planning on going to the harvester for dinner today just so I could have a sundae!! but I didn't feel up to it, so he surprised me and went and got a takeaway harvester. Grin He has pretty much been looking after O by himself (bar feeding her- although he did give her breakfast) so that I could sleep and try to get over this bug.

Today O has started to stand unaided for about 10 seconds. It's a little freaky to see as she is still so little! Shock

TobyLerone · 17/08/2014 19:39

It went ok, thanks for asking :) No op as yet, but they want her to have weekly xrays in case anything changes.

I saw O standing on fb Shock it's weird to see!

Naturegirl82 · 17/08/2014 20:11

Toby that's good news.

She has been standing for a second or so for a while but this morning just suddenly started standing for ages! Dh and I couldn't believe it Shock

alteredimages · 17/08/2014 20:26

Glad your DD hopefully won't need an op toby, hope things continue to heal well.

nature do you have a doidy cup? I was using one with N and had given up until two weeks ago I came back from an errand and N was drinking water from it with help from MIL. He must either have been not thirsty enough or too young when I tried before. He can drink from normal cups too. He still can't use a spouty cup though.

alteredimages · 17/08/2014 20:28

Forgot to say, congratulations on O standing nature. She really is amazing! Smile

Naturegirl82 · 17/08/2014 20:40

altered we've not got a doidy cup but a tommee tippee valve cup (not sure which one). We were trying a nuby but the teat part was too wide. She can drink out of the cup but just doesn't take much. She'll be going to the MIL for a full day to see how she gets on soon so hopefully she'll drink some milk then.

Me and Dh are ridiculously proud of O today. She is just so little but so strong!!

alteredimages · 17/08/2014 21:01

The spouty cup that N can't use is a tommee tipee valve one. He just doesn't seem to get it, and like O even when he sucks on the spout doesn't seem to get any quantity, so I would recommend giving it a go with a normal plastic cup or a doidy cup to see if she gets on better.

You and your DH have every reason to be proud. Smile

TobyLerone · 17/08/2014 21:16

We have a TT valve cup too and M hates it for the same reason.

beccajoh · 17/08/2014 21:21

A doesn't get drinking water from beakers either. He either chews or licks the spout! I'm going to try him with a cup in the morning. He drinks water if we put it in one of his bottles, but I don't want to get him into the habit of having any other drinks than milk from bottles.

He loves standing up too, although nowhere near doing it independently! He locks his legs straight whenever you try and sit him down!

Naturegirl82 · 17/08/2014 22:02

I'll try a normal cup with her tomorrow (I seem to have bought pretty much every cup going!) and see how she gets on.
