Jan 2014 - can we call it a sleep regression if they didn't sleep in the first place?

Sorry to those having bad nights still. It sucks.... I worked out the other day I haven't had more than about 4 hours continuous sleep for nearly a year. You'd think we'd be used to it by now.

Can't believe people are already back in work or starting soon. By emigrating I have basically made myself unemployed (although I in theory have the option to do more contract work in the Middle East but it's neither particularly safe or practical). Would like to retrain and do something different and work for myself but don't know what. Am also thinking about whether to try for bubs no 2 soon to get all the madness out the way in short succession although that would require DTD which seems far too much effort Grin

Does anyone else's LO sleep on hands and knees? I just went in to check on her and she looked like she was praying whilst lying on her front. Never seen her to that before and a little freaked out as was going to sleep in our room while she is in the cot in the nursery - for 1st time eeek. She just woke up when I tried to roll her back and assuming they have a bit more self preservation and would roll back rather than overhearing?!? Sometimes I think I just like worrying

TobyLerone · 10/08/2014 15:20

Meredith sleeps on her front. Are they more likely to overheat on their front?

Naturegirl82 · 10/08/2014 15:35

Glad the viewings went well getting

sunshine O sleeps like that a lot. As long as they can roll themselves back over it's fine.

Naturegirl82 · 10/08/2014 15:36

Haven't heard they are more likely to overheat if they sleep on their front

TobyLerone · 10/08/2014 15:44

No, me neither.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 10/08/2014 16:25

Henry has always slept on his front, he prefers it

beccajoh · 10/08/2014 16:34

I think newborns are more likely to overheat on their front. It's one of the SIDS things and why they say to put them on their back.

Sunshine, my toddler sleeps on her front with her knees tucked under her, kind of like the Muslim praying position when they lean forwards. Doesn't look very comfy but I guess she'd move if it hurt!

FelixFelix · 10/08/2014 18:07

Sylvie sleeps on her front or side now. She shuffles around so much when she's asleep and ends up in weird positions in her cot.

I am 24 today and been very spoilt! DP has bought me a snazzy keyboard attachment for my iPad so I can post on MN more easily Grin

Naturegirl82 · 10/08/2014 19:14

Happy birthday Felix

Angelesque · 10/08/2014 20:47

Happy birthday Felix - I thought your posts were looking particularly snazzy today Wink

Gettingthroughthis · 10/08/2014 21:58

Happy birthday felix :)

MerryPops · 10/08/2014 22:19

Happy birthday Felix!

After having a blissful period of a stationary baby, he has now developed his commando shuffle, so no more leaving him wherever, boo!

Last week at work before a weeks holiday, won't be doing much but it will be nice to be home. Just the inconvenient matter of the week ahead. I won't ask for it to go too quickly for the benefit of those nearing the end of their mat leave!

Sunshineseeker80 · 11/08/2014 01:42

Happy birthday Felix Cake

Had another nearly 2 hr wake up from 2.30 - 4.15 last night. Blah blah blah. DH has been sleeping on blow up bed in our room while I slept on sofa bed in nursery. Have proper mattress now so slept in our room last night and he spent morning going 'is she always like this?' 'What do you think caused it' 'oop I'm tired'

welcome to my world fool Angry Sad Angry

Off swimming now - hopefully that will tire her out later.

Good night all x

TobyLerone · 11/08/2014 08:00

Happy birthday, Felix!

Bad night here again. I don't know how many times she was up, but it was around 6 or 7. DH was moaning he was tired because he woke up twice.

AnotherStitchInTime · 11/08/2014 08:08

Happy Birthday Felix. :)

Also in no sleep boat.

Got to sleep at 2am. Ds was up from 11.30 until 1.30. Basically as soon as I wanted to sleep he woke up. He was up at 6.30am, shattered.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 11/08/2014 08:56

Happy birthday Felix!

Bad night here. His routine was off because we were at church yesterday so he couldn't nap properly. Took a long time to get him off.

Today is our wedding anniversary, 5 years!

Well, it's our fake one. Ds1 was born on the actual date, so we celebrate the month before. Been together 7 years today and married one month short of 5 years.

We're going to the movies :)

Naturegirl82 · 11/08/2014 09:05

Happy anniversary million and mr million

We had an ok night but only because I knew she was going to have a really bad one (up a few times before I came to bed and really hard to put back in cot) so I just brought her in with me when I went to bed. She hadn't had proper naps yesterday. Don't want to get into that habit though. On the plus side no crying when she was put in her cot at bedtime and I just left her to it, a few mins of chatting to herself and off she went to sleep.

FelixFelix · 11/08/2014 09:13

Thanks all!

Happy anniversary million Smile

8 wake ups last night Confused and that doesn't include the 2 times she woke up before we went to bed at 10.30. Painting her nursery this weekend so going to move her upstairs in to her own room as soon as we can. Hoping it will make a difference, but I know I'll just end up sleeping on the futon in there forever Hmm

beccajoh · 11/08/2014 10:52

We also had a bad night. The TB slept from 6-7pm (put him down early because he was EXHAUSTED) then he woke up and decided it was time to play. He went to sleep again at 9pm. Awake again at 12.30 with a leaking nappy, teething pain, farting, hungry, very grumpy. He went back to sleep at 1.40am in our bed. Woke again at 4.40 apparently hungry. Up again at 5.50 and fuck knows what was wrong with him this time. We conceded defeat and DH woke his sister up (she was staying over) at 6am and asked her to deal with him. She'd been asleep since 11pm so we figured she'd had a reasonable amount of sleep at that point! She said he went back to sleep at 7.30 for an hour or so.

I think he's really overtired but he's fighting sleep all the time. Not sure what to do about it!

beccajoh · 11/08/2014 10:54

Urgh Felixstowe I see you've had a REALLY bad night Hmm

beccajoh · 11/08/2014 10:54

Felixstowe?? FFS stupid autocorrect!

Swannykazoo · 11/08/2014 11:19

Hi all! Had Sundayitis for the first time since I went on Matleave - you know, the sense of impending doom before a Monday morning. Had a massive fight with DH on Sun as he glibly told me his parents were coming to stay for my birthday - this is after I've been saying all along - no-one to stay, no visits away for the first four weeks of being back to work so life is as minimally stressful as possible. He didn't realise it was my birthday either! They're now staying the Mon /Tues after but he sulked all day and was sulky this morning. I really cannot be doing with a man child.
Little puggle now able to crawl freely. Very cute but a bit scary if you're getting the roast potatoes out and there;s someone suddenly under your feet.

Woo on the walker humpty

Another bad night here so sympathies all around. He's got a cough/ cold so hopefully explains it. Even being in bed with us didn't work :(

Happy anniversary million

AnotherStitchInTime · 11/08/2014 12:11

Grrr puggle read him the riot act and tell him to get his act together . well done little puggle on crawling. Any way you can block the kitchen area with safety gates?

Happy Anniversary million, have a lovely time.

M is also crawling in a strange bunny hop lurching fashion so have been frantically removing all the teeny tiny toys that the dd's constantly migrate to the living room from their bedroom. Going greyer by the minute.

Becca teething is often the cause of a lot of night disturbance IME.

FelixFelix · 11/08/2014 14:24

I get called Felixstowe all the time on here now Grin May change my name.

It's so scary how fast it's going. A few crawlers already Shock
