He slept all night... 7-7!

No idea what happened there. We kept ds1 up until 8.30, and he's still asleep now.

No idea what's going on in the Gleave household

MadameBonfamille · 07/08/2014 07:34

Go million family!!

Naturegirl82 · 07/08/2014 08:01

Whoop million amazing news. Hope you slept well too Smile

TobyLerone · 07/08/2014 08:03

That's fab, million! Even if it's a one-off (although hopefully it isn't!) a good night's sleep makes everything easier :)

Gettingthroughthis · 07/08/2014 09:40

Woo mini millions

sunshine and madame we spent a winter in Sydney and it was bloody freezing at night as we had no heating (never understood why no where has heating when it does get chilly) but it won't be long until the suns out. I'm very jealous

angel glad your first day at work went well

Sorry can't remember who asked about nappy rash but the yellow metanium cream works well for us along with lots of nappy off time. Henry got it before his 2 teeth came through but it's mostly gone now

Took h to get weighed yesterday and he's 8.98kg (19lbs 12) at 6 months and 3 days and has jumped from 91st to 99th percentile! He's not fat though he's just grown much taller. Still trying to squeeze him into some of his 0-3 month clothes as fit width wise but not his long legs now but shorts are still ok

He has thrush in his mouth which doesn't bother him at all but makes me feel awful as it's probably because I don't wash his hands/ dummy/ toys enough. Bad mummy

We've put an offer in on a big house which has been accepted but they're keeping it on the market until we get a buyer (open day next Saturday) so please can everyone keep their fingers crossed for us!!

beccajoh · 07/08/2014 13:19

Long may it continue Million!

Getting hope you get a buyer!

Sunshineseeker80 · 07/08/2014 13:20

hi madame we are in Sydney, in Surry Hills in a teeny tiny rental house - how about you? By days it's light coat and sunglasses but It does get blooming cold here after the sun goes down but I think lack of heating really doesn't help. Bought a lovely warm and snugly sofa blanket today which is nice.

Finally registered with health visitor equivalent today and Emily has gone from 75th to 98th weight percentile and is 9.3kg at just before 7 months. Little chunk. Although head and height also 90th + so she is at least proportionate!

Well done on the full night sleep million - had another sleep call today to ask why she keeps waking for 2 hrs at night - she says increase feeds to 3 proper feeds per day. Also think she has conned me into doing controlled crying by stealth as now have to leave the room for 5 mins when she is demonstrating 'challenging behaviour' (ie not playing sleepy time nicely). So basically I am leaving her to cry for 5 mins then going in and stroking again. Had to do it only twice when I put her to bed at 7.30 and she's been fast asleep for 3 hours nearly so fingers crossed for rest of evening. Tonight is the first night I will sleep in a different room to her - feels very odd but given choice between new matress and crappy sofa bed comfort is winning out over resistance to change!!

Do you all give water with meals now? In a sippy cup or in something else? I think we need to introduce but Em just chucks it on the floor and won't let me tip it up so she can drink from it

MadameBonfamille · 07/08/2014 13:48

Fingers crossed getting - good luck!
We're in Brisbane so even warmer up here than Sydney, but we do miss central heating! The houses up here are designed to keep cool in the summer but no one seems to have considered the winter nights! I can't complain though - it was 24 Degrees at 2 O Clock today - it is nice not having to worry about bundling a baby up against the elements every time we go out.
H is on the 25th percentile for weight and around the 75 for height, so our health visitor makes a bit of a fuss about that whenever we see her. I just smile and nod. Babies are all different shapes and sizes just like the rest of us.
I offer H water from a sippy cup at every meal, but she doesn't have much. At first she had no idea what to do but is gradually getting the hang of sucking from a cup - although she spits most of it out. Her favourite food at the moment is toast (usually mine or Dh's breakfast!)

beccajoh · 07/08/2014 13:56

We give water in a beaker but not much gets drunk.

FelixFelix · 07/08/2014 16:10

Million that's brilliant. You've given me hope Grin

Getting fingers crossed for you. How exciting re the new house!!

I very occasionally give S a sippy cup with water which she gets very excited about but most of it goes down her front. I always forget to give her it too so she's not had any for ages.

Stupid question but what age is acceptable to put a little hair clip in baby hair? Sylvie's hair has grown loads on top and sweeps over with kind of a side parting. The bit that sweeps over is getting quite long and keeps falling forwards over her forehead and is almost in her eyes. Can I clip it back or is it frowned upon at 7 months? Do you reckon she would just pull it out? She's recently realised she can pull her sun hat off so I reckon we will have the same problem with a hair clip!

beccajoh · 07/08/2014 17:47

I would use a very soft elastic band to tie her hair up in a topknot. I read a horror story on another parenting forum about a baby girl who SWALLOWED a hair clip Shock

Gettingthroughthis · 08/08/2014 08:19

sunshine Surrey hills is lovely, some great restaurants :)

Open house bought forward to tomorrow as about 30 people registered already. Eek hoping we get the new house now :)

We give water out of a sippy cup when I remember but h just flicks it in his face and laughs

felix if h was a girl I'd use a clip. I know how annoying it is constantly brushing hair out of their eyes. He's had 3 haircuts already and needs another one

H has got his underwater photoshoot tomorrow. Hoping it goes well

FelixFelix · 08/08/2014 08:22

Thanks! I will buy soft bobbles and hair clips and see what works best. I can't wait until its long enough for me to French plait Grin

Getting 30 people sounds promising! Underwater photo shoot Shock I didn't even know that was a thing. How cool. Can you post some pics on the fb group when you get pictures back as id love to see the result. I've not even taken Sylvie swimming yet.

TarkaTheOtter · 08/08/2014 08:25

Right, brag moment now - Alex has figured out how to lift his sippy cup and (provided there is enough water in it) drink from it all by himself! I was holding up dd's for ages.

On the other hand does anyone else's baby still have tongue thrust? Unless he's sucking (ie boob or sippy cup) 90% of liquid/purée just comes straight back out. He eats proper solid food ok (although still spits a lot back out). I wonder if his tongue tie is causing problems and I should have had it snipped.

He's also teething/full of cold and woke for a cuddle but refused feed every hour or so last night. On the night that dd randomly slept through grrrr

TarkaTheOtter · 08/08/2014 08:29

Ooh getting I've seen those underwater baby photos and they look amazing!

felix I'd trim it if possible but then I plan to enforce a fringe and bob on dd until she's old enough to brush it herself.

Naturegirl82 · 08/08/2014 09:00

We had an under water photo shoot done a few months back and it's amazing. They get some really good shots Smile

*get

Naturegirl82 · 08/08/2014 09:01

Sorry had to remove O from feeding and posted too soon!

getting hope the open house goes well. We sold my grandads house like that and got over the asking price.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 08/08/2014 13:46

He slept all night again! Went down really well, at the same time as ds1, just turned over and slept 7-7. Don't know what's going on, and i'm aware it could all change, but woo!

FelixFelix · 08/08/2014 19:43

Brilliant million! I'm so pleased for you Smile

Gettingthroughthis · 09/08/2014 07:03

million I think your Henry had a word with mine. Only one wake up last night! Woo!

beccajoh · 09/08/2014 08:13

Hurray for sleeping babies! Archie is poorly bless him. Nothing specific but he has a temperature and is quite grumpy. I wonder if it's more teeth coming through?

Naturegirl82 · 09/08/2014 12:42

Urgh awful night here last night. Had to do a nappy change at 3am which woke O up and she didn't settle for a while.

So yesterday was my last day of mat leave Sad Three weeks annual leave now before I go back to work.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 09/08/2014 21:04

Oh Nature I bet that feels like no time.

I'm watching Harry Potter, the first one, and debating giving up and going to bed.

Gettingthroughthis · 10/08/2014 10:39

The good night was a one off :(

nature it feels like it's going so quickly doesn't it :( I've only got a couple of weeks left and have booked Henry's settling in sessions at nursery, all makes it very real. Was hoping to go on an abroad holiday first 2 weeks of sept (then back to work) but forgot to send h passport form off- oops!

Open house went well. Over 60 viewers and 2 offers at asking price already. Offers close at 12pm Monday so hoping we can get a bit more :)

beccajoh · 10/08/2014 11:43

That's a good result on your house GTT. Maybe go to sealed bids?

Horrid night with both kids last night. Miss Toddler fell out of bed twice (we took the sides off her cotbed during the week) and was shouting for help to get back I to bed. Archie is still not well and woke up three or four times. We were up every two hours with one or other of them. Urgh.

We'll have reinforcements tonight thankfully. I'm still recovering from my surgery so can't do much at night. Can hobble into his room to pop a dummy back in but can't lift either of them.
