Rub his nose in it toby.

It must be something in the air, because even we had a reasonable last night. Asleep at 6 downstairs, transferred upstairs at 10.30 when the local feral kids woke her by screaming in the street Angry, awake at 1:45, 5:45 and the up for the day at 6:45. Her best night ever Smile (don't laugh, I know it is actually still shit in the grand scheme, of things!) It is certainly better than most of the last fortnight, during which there have been three nights where she hasn't slept AT ALL until 4 am. I look like a wizened up old biddy now. When she's ashamed of her elderly mother at the school gates I shall remind her that it is all her fault!

We're off to PIL on Thursday night for the weekend. They live 3.5 hours away and she's never been in the car that long. She hates the car. I'm hoping that if we leave at 6 she might eventually fall asleep for most of the journey. Am I being hopelessly optimistic?

alteredimages · 02/08/2014 16:41

N hates the car too book. It is rubbish, because despite conventional wisdom they don't always just go to sleep.

The flat is almost clean now. I got some help though from the wife of the doorman and her sister. She brought her daughter who is almost 3. During the four hours they were working, the little girl ate a lot of food, starting almost as soon as she arrived. I felt so bad, and DD turning up her nose at everything. She had a bad burn on her foot which makes her limp a bit, a pot of hot soup spilled on it about a month ago. They asked me what to do, but I didnt really know except to suggest seeing a doctor, which of course they can't afford.

She also was desperate to have a toy which caused conflict with DD. I think it is important for DD to learn to share and the value of compassion but at 31 I still feel the rage when I remember when my mum giving away my toys, even if I no longer played with them. It is a control/respect thing, but maybe I am just difficult. Luckily DD chose something to give her in the end.

Guilt session over. Grin But seriously, however bad things seem in the UK, the inequality here really makes me value the UK and the safety net that exists for people. Shame we are taking it away though. Sad

Hi, I dropped off th thread and couldn't find it.

Sorry for all the bad sleeping stories!

I went to Lytham proms last night and danced the night away to Blue! Still got a massive crush on Lee Ryan.

Henry has a little hole in his gum, so I reckon his first tooth will pop through today or tomorrow.

He's crawling like a demon and we've had to put the play pen up today

Naturegirl82 · 02/08/2014 19:31

Just did PUPD for the first time. 45 minutes and she is asleep. Wasn't too bad but hoping she gets the message quickly as she did get herself into a state. Sad Only started tonight as I fed her and she started crying from ne holding her so figured it wouldn't be any worse her crying in her cot.

Naturegirl82 · 02/08/2014 19:32

Yay for more crawling babies Smile .

Saw people from work today. Was really nice catching up with people and nice to know they are looking forward to me coming back hopefully not just for the cakes I bring into the office!

TobyLerone · 02/08/2014 22:15

nature, that's exactly why we ended up doing a lightweight version of CC -- she was crying herself to sleep whatever I did. She doesn't feed to sleep any more, so I was trying PUPD, rocking, patting, shhing... nothing stopped her crying. So we went with it. She now goes to sleep from wide awake with perhaps a 30-second whinge.

Actual LOL at "rub his nose in it" :o I will next time. Glad you had a decent night too, book. That's a big improvement!

altered, it must be hard to see that :(

Welcome back, Million :) Woohoo for crawling! Meredith isn't properly crawling yet, but is very speedy with the commando shuffling. I put the tortoise on the floor today so she could see him and had to move him almost immediately because Meredith shot over to him like a rocket and tried to grab him!

We've done loads today. I washed all the walls, ceiling and glosswork in DS's room, then DH did the glossing (because I hate it!) and I did the ceiling. Then we took a load of stuff to the tip, went to town, went to B&Q, helped my sister with her garden, then came home and I prepped DS's floor for painting. We did the first coat on it when M went to bed. It looks great! We'll do the 2nd coat in the morning, then we're off to the hipster food festival! Good times.

I'm knackered!

TobyLerone · 03/08/2014 07:40

Right. Well it seems that the night before was a one-off. Last night she'd woken 3 times between 11.30pm and 1am. By 3am I think it was 5 times, possibly 6. When she woke at 5am she came in with us. Tiny bastard.

Hope you all had better luck!

Angelesque · 03/08/2014 07:48

No luck here... Tricked by F sleeping angelically 8-2. He then woke every 60-90 minutes. No idea why. Fourth bad night in a row! Dreading going back to work on Wed, I'm going to be utterly useless...

Naturegirl82 · 03/08/2014 08:01

Better night here, asleep at 7.15, then awake at 8.00, 10,30, 3, 5.30 then up at 6.20. Slowly getting there but not holding out hope it will last!

angel hope F starts sleeping soon. Are you able to catch up on sleep today so you're not too tired for Wednesday?

BookTart · 03/08/2014 08:36

Normal sleeping has resumed here too. I now think she is using actual torture methods to try and break me. She's also developed horrible nappy rash that makes her scream when she poos, and because it hurts to change her she kicks at me when I try. Poor little thing. Bare bum time this morning didn't help and ended with three towels, a vest, the carpet and the baby smeared in poo. Good times Grin

angel I hope you manage some rest before Wednesday.

DH has been off work for a week, theoretically to spend time as a family and to give me a little break. Breaks enjoyed so far = 0 but he has nearly completed Wolfenstein Angry Angry Angry

TobyLerone · 03/08/2014 08:55

Cocklodger Angry

BookTart · 03/08/2014 08:56

That is a brilliant word!

TarkaTheOtter · 03/08/2014 15:08

book have you tried metanium for the nappy rash? It really helps for teething acid poos.

Naturegirl82 · 03/08/2014 15:22

book I agree with tarka. The really pungent yellow metanium works really well.

My friend has just asked me to be her bridesmaid Grin Best start getting back into shape!

BookTart · 03/08/2014 15:34

Cheers tarka, I'm using the yellow metanium so hopefully it'll clear up soon. I'll be pleased if it is teething rather than something she's eaten. Poor baby went days without a dirty nappy but today she's already had five! At least it is moving now I suppose!

Naturegirl82 · 03/08/2014 21:23

15 minutes to put to bed tonight so much better than last night Smile

TobyLerone · 04/08/2014 06:56

Worst. Night. EVER.

BookTart · 04/08/2014 07:04

Here too toby! What happened? I'm sitting here staring at a sleep consultant's website hoping she'll reopen for bookings this morning Brew.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 04/08/2014 07:24

What happened Toby?

It took until 10pm for the kids to go down. Our romantic planner evening (movie, sex) was ruined.

Both kids ended up in our bed while we watched Monsters Inc. Henry screamed and screamed because he was massively overtired but would not sleep!

I ended up spending 40 mins lying in ds1's cot bed next to Henry jiggling him with white noise until he went to sleep.

When I got back into my bed, ds1 looked at me and said "I just have to go" "go where? "bed. It's been fun" and then took himself off. It was as if he thought we were keeping him up for kicks! We'd been trying for three hours to get him to sleep. Git.

Now I'm heading into work on my day off to make sure my team's desk move goes well because, quite frankly, they are all babies who couldn't manage themselves. I have an appointment to get my haircut and eyebrows done at 11, so all is not lost.

BookTart · 04/08/2014 07:30

Lol at "It's been fun" million Grin

TobyLerone · 04/08/2014 08:02

No idea what happened. I was up 9 times at last count. She's now throwing toast on the floor because she really wants to piss me off even more is too tired to eat it.

"It's been fun" made me smile :)

Swannykazoo · 04/08/2014 08:19

"Its been fun" is brilliant! We have an evening sleep refuser - 8pm bedtime is now 9:30 if we're lucky. Another one who got the be up every 1-2hrs memo here too tiny rascals.
Last day of mat leave sniff! Its the pool & lunch out - basically keep me distracted....

OP posts:
alteredimages · 04/08/2014 08:23

Haha million. Sorry about your ruined evening but "It's been fun" made me laugh too. Hope thr desk move goes well.

Nour still being funny about the new flat. Screamed all day yesterday unless held, no naps. Finally slept at midnight. DD had other ideas and so DH and I watched Brave instead.of Hinterland and DD whined about not having any arrows. Or a bow.

DD's fourth birthday today. The flat is still jot organised, all our stuff still in bags, but people coming over this evening and we need a castle birthday cake. Wish me luck!

Naturegirl82 · 04/08/2014 09:22

toby that sucks.

million sorry your evening was ruined but that was quite cute.

O woke up with a tummy ache at 5.30 again. Not sure why it happens at the same time as we don't feed her at the same time each day. Oh well.

O is off to the MIL this morning to start getting her used to being there when I go back to work. So dh and I are going to start tackling her room.

Puggle enjoy your last day of mat leave. I can't believe how quick it's gone Shock

altered good luck finding the cake. I'm hopefully baking some cakes today for group tomorrow. Realised I haven't baked since O was born!

beccajoh · 04/08/2014 11:29

Book, I've found zinc and castor oil cream best for nappy rash, plus a bit of nekkid bum time!
