Me and my friend have often joked about teaching Egyptian children to speak in Scottish dialect Spged. I love Three Craws, and even better is 'Ye Cannae shove her Granny off a bus'. Best MIL song ever.

TobyLerone · 11/07/2014 21:55

I love Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Off A Bus! Reminds me of being a kid.

alteredimages · 11/07/2014 22:11

Haha. Snap toby! Were you also subjected to Mr Boom and The Singing Kettle?

TobyLerone · 11/07/2014 22:45

No! Confused

Maybe it was after my time. I'm 36 quite old.

Spged · 11/07/2014 22:53

Haha, I'd totally forgotten about Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny! Good point re Mil Altered! You must be a bit younger than I am though - don't remember watching much singing on tv

alteredimages · 11/07/2014 22:54

I think not seeing Mr Boom is definitely a good thing. Smile

The Singing Kettle were quite good actually.

You are freaking me out with the similarities though. Grin

Spged · 11/07/2014 22:55

Haha Toby! Cross post. I am almost quite old (35)

alteredimages · 11/07/2014 23:20

I'm 31 so not far behind you! They appeared on tv later, very late eighties and early nineties. I was mostly just dragged to concerts. Here

TobyLerone · 12/07/2014 05:46

Ah. We'd moved sarf by then.

Naturegirl82 · 12/07/2014 15:43

Thought I'd give you guys a giggle.

Dh went out last night to celebrate end of term. Half way through the night he realised he was wearing odd shoes! Haha! Guess the holidays didn't come soon enough for him!

BookTart · 13/07/2014 09:04

Oh no nature! Did he realise or did someone else tell him.

Good day yesterday. P did her first two naps in her cot without being fed, then she was lovely all day when my DD and DSM visited, and then she spent from 9-4 in the cot next to the bed with just one bit in the bed Smile At 4 I felt sorry for DH so went back to P's room, after his fidgeting woke her again.

Predictably he is ridiculously tired today and has been mainlining coffee...

Naturegirl82 · 13/07/2014 09:22

He noticed as he felt really drunk because he was walking lopsided! haha! didn't take long for others to notice though! Grin

Sounds like a great improvement book and hopefully your dh will realise how hard things have been for you.

TobyLerone · 13/07/2014 09:36

That is so excellent, book :)

Naturegirl82 · 13/07/2014 12:22

Just washed my holiday dress for by the pool side and it's massively shrunk from knee length to barely covering my bum. Don't know what to do as we fly first thing in the morning. It was brand new as well Sad Trying to stretch it back out but don't know if it will work Sad

alteredimages · 13/07/2014 14:00

Yay book! Hope this cot is a breakthrough.

That is so frustrating nature. I guess you'll just have to stay in the pool! Smile Unless you washed it at 60 or it is pure wool I would be seriously unimpressed with whoever made it too.

The highchair turned out to be the mankiest thing I have ever seen, in addition to the fabric having deteriorated in the heat. I am feeling seriously guilty about not feeding N enough but it is really hard when he is on my knee and I have to be careful about mess.

Naturegirl82 · 13/07/2014 14:46

washed at 40 as per washing instructions. I've resorted to packing last year's dress. All is well again but really not impressed. It was m&s as well so not even the cheapo stuff I usually buy although it was from an outlet store!

FelixFelix · 13/07/2014 16:52

Nature I'd take it back, or write to them and complain. Hope you have a nice time!

Sylvie had her first overnight at her Nanna's house last night as we went to a gig in Manchester and she was good as gold! I'm so glad she behaved as it means we can ask her to babysit again at some point Grin I didn't last very long last night and was ready for bed so early. I can't cope with these late nights any more.

Angelesque · 13/07/2014 20:08

Nature congrats on your night out! (And also on Sylvie being well behaved). We had an evening without F on Friday to celebrate DH's birthday. Despite not drinking a huge amount, the resulting hangover was pretty bad yesterday

Today we made an offer on a house! We're first time buyers so have never put an offer in before. It's quite weird that you don't need to show any proof before putting an offer in... We could be anyone!

Naturegirl82 · 14/07/2014 04:57

We are off on our holidays this morning. a total of one hour sleep is going to be fun to cope with today. And dh has managed to lose our boarding passes. Good start!

Hope you all have lovely weeks Smile

BookTart · 14/07/2014 09:05

Congrats angel, it's so exciting isn't it?

Have a great holiday nature Smile

Well, we haven't turned a corner Sad We were back in the nursery by 1am. DH fidgets, snores and wakes her up all the time, so the experiment may well be over. I'm a bit gutted about this, and a bit knackered as well. Still, she'll get there in the end I'm sure.

I'm off to the local SureStart centre to hand over the last of her 0-3 month clothes for a swap shop later in the week. Feels a bit sad, but there's absolutely no way I'll be doing this again so no point hanging on to it! Weather is looking good this week, so another trip to the seaside beckons I think. What are you all up to? I don't know what to do with her now she's mobile!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 14/07/2014 09:06

nature have a great hols! Hope O doesn't come back walking and talking and potty trained - I can't keep up!

book SLEEP! You got SLEEP! Light at the end of the (sleepy) tunnel! Hurrah!

altered A hated avocado too. And banana. And banana with avocado.

tarka I hate weaning too. Not because it's hard getting my Alex to eat she is a greedy monster but because she now poos six to eight times a day. Not much each time, but quite loose. Doc said there's no infection or fever, and she's not dehydrated, so not to worry, but it means she wakes herself up in the night and from naps because she's pooed. It's been ten days - how long do babies take to adjust to weaning?

Swannykazoo · 14/07/2014 09:08

Another in the I hate weaning club! I enjoy the actual feeding bit, but not the being organised, thinking of something, remembering food if we go out and definitely not the nappies...or the clearing up. We need a dog

Little puggle is desperate to crawl so spends a lot of time on hands and knees getting frustrated that he can't go anywhere. He can do a comedy 360 as his arms seem strong enough but not his legs. Not in any rush to have a mobile baby though

Today has started well. Bamboozles leaked overnight (when co-sleeping) so will need to change our bed. Grr-not sure why I didn't get the wrap on properly. Half an hour later was cheerfully flushing some vaguely solid poo thinking this is fine, what larks etc, baby left with nappy underneath for any surprise extra poo - returned to find there had been an epic 2nd poo and the nappy was being flung around as a fun toy. DOuble grr.

Off to sing and sign (doing a three morning course) for the first time. I think it might be a bit woo. Has anyone else done any?

Arse. x-posted with book. Rubbish.
Can your DH wear those nose strips to stop snoring? Or maybe banishing him forever is better? Have you tried P on her own in cot, in the nursery? I can't remember, sorry. We had night wakings until A went on her own in the nursery. and until she developed bowels made of wet tissues

Swannykazoo · 14/07/2014 09:20

Sorry x-posted with everyone! Big hug to book for your hard time -its bloody rubbish when you can't even cheer yourself up with a Mr whippy at the seaside

I'm actually enjoying weaning, although she's not eating much of anything except fruit!

As far as this week goes, we're going to lunch with my ex assistant today to get all the gossip on my mental ex boss. Wednesday we're going out to lunch with my BFF to scout a possible location for a possible 1st birthday/2nd wedding anniversary party in January.
But tbh if we get to the end of the week and we're both still alive I'll be amazed. She's started making a screechy whiny noise for no discernable reason and with no discernable pattern and it's THE most horrendous, enraging noise I've ever heard. It makes me want to shoot myself in the ears.
