Getting thanks for the heads up, I've just checked and my local library does it on a Wednesday. Wahoo!! Grin

Gettingthroughthis · 10/07/2014 20:35

No worries. Depending on the library depends how good it is (some are very interactive which I hate but mine is huge and I just sing along/ do actions with Henry and no one pays any attention)

TarkaTheOtter · 10/07/2014 21:16

book just wanted to say that I don't think needing to feed to sleep at 6months is that uncommon. Some babies are self-settlers and some just can't seem to get it. Even when they can self-settle it doesn't guarentee a full nights sleep (looking at you dd).

Alex feeds to sleep. Between 7-9.30pm he sleeps in 30min stretches. Mostly I am too lazy to keep putting him back in bed so he sleeps in his bouncy chair til we go to bed. He then normally wakes once in the night (around 2/3) and often again at 5/6. I think he would probably go back to sleep after that except dd normally wakes up too then it is game over. Bizarrely I still think of him as a good sleeper (probably because dd was so awful!).

I'd recommend the millpond clinic sleep book before spending £££ on a sleep trainer. It has lots of action plans from gentle to effective less gentle. It talks you through the options the way their sleep consultants would.

TobyLerone · 10/07/2014 21:23

Yy Meredith feeds to sleep for most naps and about half the time at night.

TarkaTheOtter · 10/07/2014 21:38

toby out of interest how are you giving m blueberries? I want to give some for Alex as we always have them in the house for dd but he is a long way off picking them up. I did Blw with dd but Alex seems to like being fed so happy to mash/blend etc.

Gettingthroughthis · 10/07/2014 21:53

tarka I give Henry blueberries either quizzed up (with strawberries is a hit) or cut them in half and he'll either put them in his mouth or I'll pop them in for him if I'm getting bored. Just be warned they come out how they went in!

FelixFelix · 10/07/2014 21:57

Sylvie had blueberries the other day. I just squished them so they weren't whole/round and broke some of the big ones in half. She grabbed handfuls of them and hardly any ended up in her mouth, and the ones that did ended up being spat back out again Grin

Also, IVE ONLY GONE AND BOOKED MY DRIVING TEST!!! Aaarghhhhhh!!!!!! Sorry just had to get that out Grin

FelixFelix · 10/07/2014 21:57

Tarka I'll look at that book as I could really do with it! It's worth a try isn't it.

Gettingthroughthis · 10/07/2014 21:58

*whizzed not quizzed

Gettingthroughthis · 10/07/2014 21:59

Woo good luck felix!!

MerryPops · 10/07/2014 22:06

Good luck Felix, the sense of freedom you get jumping in the car after being used to public transport is amazing!

MrsGSR · 10/07/2014 22:09

Is anyone else finding they have to do Bath Time every day since starting weaning? Not sure how she does it, but L manages to get food everywhere!

She also still feeds to sleep 90% of the time. She can self settle but mostly chooses not to (one of the reasons I knew she was ill a few weeks back, she fell asleep everywhere at the drop off a hat, the other was the temp of 39.4!) I'm trying (and mostly succeeding) not to feed to sleep during the day, usually means rocking her to sleep in her pram though.

TobyLerone · 10/07/2014 22:27

I'm cutting blueberries in half (or quarters if they're really big) and just putting them in for her.

We've always given M a bath every evening as part of her bedtime routine and because she loves it, but it's definitely necessary now!

Good luck with the test, felix!

Spged · 10/07/2014 23:18

Yup feeding to sleep here too at 6.5 months, but 2-3 feeds a night at the moment which is much improved. Hats off to you book for doing everything plus no sleep.

Can't remember who suggested baby corn, but thank you - it went down a treat tonight and they're nice and easy to grip

Good luck with the test felix and hope you enjoy Bookbugs! We go every week and the babies love it! Some of the songs are quite amusing too - my personal favourites are The Little Green Frog and Three Craws Sat Upon a Wall (scottish one i think) although I've only been going for a couple of months and I can imagine that there will be a time soon when all nursery rhymes and theme tunes are totally unbearable....

Our big news today is that we have a tooth! It's a sharp jagged slither of a thing at the moment, which C won't let me get a good look at. She has been pretty good about it though so far (and about having the Hoover dropped on her foot luckily - bad useless mother :-( )

Naturegirl82 · 11/07/2014 13:03

Grr just took the washing out and dh had left a tissue in his pocket! My black items are now mostly white Sad

BookTart · 11/07/2014 13:29

Hahahaha baked beans!
She only ate two!

nature that drives me insane. I have instituted a policy whereby everything I find in pockets of items in the washing basket automatically becomes mine. I have made gained several fivers this way Grin

So, DH thinks a sleep consultant is unnecessary. Of course he does, he sleeps in another room! I have therefore insisted that the new cot is made into a co-sleeper in OUR room at the weekend, so that he can lend moral support for the 93,000 night wakings. Mwahaha!

TobyLerone · 11/07/2014 13:40

I give it til Tuesday before he's begging you to call her, book.

That pocket policy is brilliant. It is a new rule in our house as of now.

Naturegirl82 · 11/07/2014 14:32

book I usually check the pockets and acquire anything I find but it's usually useless tat from dh's school kids. I found two loom bands in the wash as well.

Spged · 11/07/2014 15:57

Definitely move the cot Book! Also make sure he actually helps when you're in there (although I can't talk. We shared a room on holiday with DH but he continued to use his ear plugs Angry )

Naturegirl82 · 11/07/2014 19:53

OMG!!! Olivia just pulled herself up to standing by herself! (using the bouncy chair of all things!!)

BookTart · 11/07/2014 20:28

Go Olivia! Hope you've got some stair gates in place nature!

Apparently it might not be possible to make our cot a co-sleeper Angry

alteredimages · 11/07/2014 20:29

Wow nature! What are you feeding O? It must be good stuff. Smile

Is anyone else finding weaning really boring and annoying? I think I might just be being crap bit I really CBA having stuff spat all over me and N only being interested in sweet foods. I picked up DD's high chair from our flat today so I will be making more of an effort but it seems so much harder than bfing! I have a very sad looking avocado which has been rejected in various guises and can't even be bothered cooking the broccoli I spent a small fortune on and has been quietly yellowing in the fridge all week.

book please don't ever feel you can't have a good moan here. If it helps, P sounds a lot like my DD, except that DD rejected all food until 12 months when she discovered Petit filous. She will be four next month and still sleeps badly but I am still alive, married to DH and I managed to hold down a fulltime job for over a year in the middle with no sleep too. It gets better from here even if sleep doesn't improve because your body does get used to running on empty IME.

alteredimages · 11/07/2014 20:30

In case you can't tell, I had visions of N being The Avocado Baby. Grin. I am distraught.

BookTart · 11/07/2014 20:39

Do the broccoli altered, it is the favourite by miles here. P isn't very interested in food really. Oh, except the Fab I just caught DH giving her Angry

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm hoping DH will start to do a bit more this weekend because I am hopelessly naive

TarkaTheOtter · 11/07/2014 20:46

I hate weaning too. A seems to be keener than dd was which helps a bit. I'm pretty lax though. He had cold ambrosia rice pudding for lunch today because we were at soft play with dd and they didn't sell baby food.

Dd woke every couple of hours from 4-6months. We did controlled crying. It worked almost from the first night and actually involved less crying than other methods we had tried (pupd for example) because of how quickly it worked. It didn't mean she then slept through every night. She still wakes if teething, ill, seperation anxiety etc but she did sleep through sometimes.
